I like how you said “practice makes progression” instead of the typical “practice makes perfect”. Takes a lot of pressure off from being a beginner. It’s the learning process that makes the journey fulfilling after all. :)
I just started roller skating and finding your channel was the best thing that happend! You teach very well and it gives me confidence to try new things! I just learned how to march thanks to your videos, thank you so much for making them!
Was looking for videos for my loving family who always want to come skate with me, but are gaining confidence on wheels. I’ve seen many videos over the years, but in my recent binging looking for sound tutorials for my family, I keep finding your channel. I wish I could like every video several times.
Thank you so much. My whole family skated when I was little and I have lots of wonderful memories of growing up skating. I hope you all enjoy your skating together. 💕💕💕
i’ve gone roller skating at a rink probably once a year, mediocre skills, and then I got roller skates for my bday and your videos have been a lot of help to learn roller skating!
Thank you for making these videos, Katie! They're such a great help, and I feel so much more confident on my roller skating journey due to your quality instruction videos :)
I appreciate you so much! I’m neurodivergent and I struggle so much with following instructions-it’s almost always too fast for me and my brain just can’t keep up. I just found your videos and you have a very clear way of explaining things! Thank you!
Thank you for this! You're the first person I've seen suggest starting on grass, and for me that's a game changer because I've been soooo scared of falling that it's all but prevented me from learning.. Starting on grass is sooo much less scary of a way to gain confidence!
I've bought a pair of skates after near on 30 years of not skating, for fun with my kids and to be a bit more active. I forgot everything, literally everything. Your videos have been great not just to give me tips of what to physically do, but also in giving me the confidence to try. Thank you. Something I am struggling with, and would like to maybe see a video on, is just generally moving around, stairs or moving down a step etc. Again, thanks for the videos, they really help a lot.
We hire a small village hall every week. It's not big but it does have a lovely floor at a reasonable price. Do you have any local village halls that you could approach? Maybe you could share the cost with other local skaters? It's so hard to find nice spaces. Hope you find somewhere xx
I’ve started skating this year, in october, and even if i’ve become better and still learning… i’m still afraid of falling! But thanks for your videos, they’re such great advices ❤️
I absolutely understand that feeling. As an adult skater I think we’re often all too aware of our responsibilities and want an injury would mean to the people around us too. Wear your safety gear and lock in those fundermentals before attempting any tricks etc. As you feel more stable and in control of your skates the confidence will come x
I really like your videos katie it really helps my roller skating journey and i really like watching them even if i am not rollerskating 😅 but i still like your videos katie and it really helps thanks.
For me the biggest confidence booster was going on a challenging bumpy pavement that was still save to skate on, because once I drove there and back any other surface filled like the smoothest concrete ring. I of course made sure to know how to balance, stop, pivot and all the things to keep me save. Going on a uneven surface that is still consistent in it's challenges was a great way to build my confidence in skating outside and I would recommend!
I got my first roller skate last summer, I was so scared if I broke my 40years old bones, so I watched all of your videos and it helped me get started well. I haven’t worn my roller skate almost for a year now, but definitely will try soon this summer again! Thank you so much for all your helpful videos!!💖🤍💖
Your video’s help me alot! My 9yo got into skating couple of months ago and I was so scared to get on those skates after 20 years BUT Katie came to the rescue 🙌🏾♥️
@@Skatie Thank you so much!♥️ your video’s have helped me more than you know! I’ve assembled the falling part lol 😂 but also the moving part 🙌🏾, the stopping part I have to work on but at least I’m not scared anymore. Never felt so free♥️☀️🛼.
This video is great ♥ i have been learning for 4-5 months and i'm still a little insecure while trying new stuff. I want to improve but i'm afraid i may fall. Thanks for explaining everything so simple and in a sweet manner!
I love your videos, I always watch them before I go out and skate unfortunately the street I live on is very rough and bumpy , I skate better on the basketball court at the park it’s nice and smooth if I feel a bit wobbly I come down low and that really does save you.
Great tips my daughter and I just got done with some lessons and 95% is the same as what you are demonstrating, love seeing some different techniques tho....see help different than others....thanks for.you tips💯🎄
Hi Katie! I just got my roller skates yesterday and now I'm on the search for protective gear! You linked where you got your helmet but what brand do you recommend for knee, wrist, and elbow pads? Thanks!
I've just bought skates in my sixties. (male). My other half thinks I'm crazy and that I'll really hurt myself. I've NEVER roller skated before but used to be a pretty good ice skater (at least going forwards). However, "used to" was 40+ years ago! I will feel embarrassed at my age going out in public and trying to learn but I have invested in protective equipment. That said, am I mad to even try!?
Never too old! Just take your time, concentrate on balance exercises, learn to fall and bail to your safety gear. Bend bend bend. Keep low to the ground and your knees super soft. Like shock absorbers. Video yourself often so you can check your form. Do not hold yourself rigid. Oh and most importantly, have fun! 💕🛼⭐️
Hi SKatie. I'm in Aus and am revisiting my high school skating past. Recently purchased a pair of full-on Jackson skates that are nuts. In March last year a drugged-up neighbour assaulted me and 'obliterated' my face (surgeons report). I nearly died. I occasionally suffer from post-traumatic vertigo when I look down. Any tips for people like me? I promise nothing you suggest will be used against you as I think you are a rockstar. Much love.
Oh I’m so sorry that happened to you. Must have been so traumatic. For me skating is my escape from the responsibility of being an adult. Ear buds in and escape to your own world where it’s just you and the sound of your skates. 💕💕💕
Prodesigned knee pads offer great protection and don’t get in the way as much as some other roller derby/park/outdoor skating. They’re pricey BUT saving your knees is worth the price.
Hey Katie, i recently got my roller skates yesterday, ive been having trouble roller skating but your videos have helped a whole lot! You explain things so well! I have a quick question, is it normal for the gloves to leave you small bruises?
By gloves do you mean the wrist guards? The wrist guards can bruise you if you fall hard but just wearing them they should be comfortable. If they’re giving you bruises without a fall maybe they are too tight or not fitting you correctly?
I'm keen to get back into skating but my confidence is non existent 😬. I currently have a pair of Raptor skates but they seem very heavy and too rigid. Are they suitable for somebody returning to skating? As a 50 + female I'm looking for a pair of outdoor skates, not too pricey, please could you recommend? Thanks for your videos, they're very helpful. 👏❤️
The Raptors are very rigid. I’m not personally a fan of the hard shell skates. You might better in something like the rookie Artistics, Chaya Melrose or Suregrip boardwalks.
Do you have good helmets for people with big heads? I'm buying skates and pads from Moxi but their helmets only go up to 23 and a half inches and my head is 24 and a half inches
Is your skate making a rattling sound? If you give it a shake does it rattle too? If so it could be a loose component. If it’s mainly rattling when you skate then it could be a bearing.
I like how you said “practice makes progression” instead of the typical “practice makes perfect”. Takes a lot of pressure off from being a beginner. It’s the learning process that makes the journey fulfilling after all. :)
Most definitely! The fun bit is the journey xx 💕💕⭐️⭐️

One thing that really helped me with my confidence was falling. Are used to be so scared of it but after I fell a couple of times, it’s all good.
Great tip! Learning to fall is a whole skill in itself. Safety can definitely help too. ⛑️

Take your time and skate to your confidence level. Really lock in those fundamentals, forwards, backwards first. Then turns / transitions.

Pop over to my website. I have lots of safety gear recommendations on there. Www.skatie.co.uk
Where did you get your wrist guards from? I have wrist guards with plastic on both sides.
These are just a cheap set from Amazon but I highly recommend the triple 8 rd ones. Www.skatie.co.Uk. They’re on my website
Could we cover attitude turns & arabesque pose technical aspects to practice and drills that would help master these positions
That’s a great idea. ⭐️💕🛼🛼
