[FNF] How To EASILY Make a VISUALIZER in ZGameEditor!

- hey! a little bit of a different video, and due to a recent question through discord dm's, i am here to show you all how i make my visualizers in an easy way in ZGameEditor! hopefully this helps those that have been looking for these kinds of tutorials but come out short in the end.

Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. I think the trick in Visualizer is to be creative with the elements they give you in fl studio, even so, very good tutorial!

I was trying to get them to slide in but that didn't work but it was still good enough and this did help a LOT.

insanely helpful!!! if you have two characters on screen and want to zoom both of them what i do is create an automation clip on the project zoom instead of the zoom for the individual character
note that if you dont want the visualiser to zoom in as well, it doesn't by default. if you want you're gonna have to do it manually (i think)

7:32 you could have just right clicked when it was 50%, "copy value" and then right click in the automation clip where you want it and say paste or whatever and its easier like thta

a few notes to add one
if you don't alr have a vignette, zgame alr has one preinstalled!
to get around the bloom thing, simply put the peak shapes/bloom in the first 3 layers, then buffer them forward. it can also help with layering in the future
for doing the zooms on main img, I find it easier to do it to the size of a beat, so, the automation plays through before the end
for bg zooms, same idea as the main zoom, just, make it way less of a size difference ratio
for the flashes, you can also do them with the TransitionEffects setting, by setting it on cross fade
final tip, for videos/gifs, just use the image preset, (if you want to add things like scanlines for example)
great video btw, I am def gonna use the peak shapes, I was doing my linears a bit differently

also, if you don't know how to buffer, simply use the yulean from buffer effect

I got a question about the easter inspired Thumbnail. Do you make it inside Fl or do you use the Saster Thumbnail Template from Gamebanna? I just wanted to ask
no problem! i actually make them myself in Photoshop! i honestly had no idea there was a template on gamebanana, lol, but yes, they are inspired heavily from Saster but i do make them myself!

Can you tell me why if I export the video with the beat underneath (made with Zgame) the reverb and halftime automations are not heard while the other automations are? but if I export only the beat everything is fine
quick question how do you make the automation clips without it reseting? when i try to make one it just resets and editing it does nothing

i didn't use a specific sample pack, no. for things like that i just used them from multiple files/downloads ive gotten over the years. a place i recommend surprisingly is samplefocus!

I know this is barely relevant to the video, but what font did you use in the thumbnail, and what program can you use it in?
Schluber is the font, i believe. sorry for the late reply! you can use it in almost any program that allows custom fonts within your system, i.e. I use Photoshop for my thumbnails which allows it

I can’t figure out how to make the thing slide. Everything I try and I do exactly what you do it doesn’t work. How do u make the thing smaller so it actually slides in? Cuz it’s not working at all for me
what about glitch for a good reason for videos?
for some reason, the youlean peak shapes won't do anything. Do you know how to fix that?

My kicks and 808s deteriorate at certain times after I render and post to TH-cam. Hi hats sound weird also anybody have a fix for this? Plz help lol

you would have to change the automations for certain characters/arts (sprites)!
quick question with the peak shape how tf do u rotate it with out it reseting?
if you mean at 5:56, im pretty sure i did reset the second peak shape? so it would be the initial peak shape with a rotation and then fit the polarity to peak downwards instead of upwards like the first one.
when i played the audio nothing moved

Sorry uh i have a stupid question, why my zgameeditor lag whenever I open i barely clean my disk c and other stuff and its still laggy can you help me?
when it comes to zgame lagging, it only ever did for me if the effects i used were very heavy on my system. work with what you can! if your system can't handle it, work around it!
yo um what if the thing only lets me do it every 1 second?
I think it's dropping the quality of the image for me for some reason. when I use a darker image it's like pixelated it's so annoying

7:35 what did you do to make it shorter?
that was just editor me cutting to a part where i zoomed out a little, visually shortening the track length- even then, to shorten that, you'd want to hold shift (keeps the level the same), and drag the right side dot forward or backward (shortening or lengthening the clip!)

i cant seem to do it it keep setting to 6 and i dont know why
i think the fix to that is deleting the points intial start value (should be in the same menu as making the automation clip)

this is a direct flp edit ffor remix, I get the line where the shapes should peak, but they no peak when I play the audio

how do we take out the white parts of the image???
that depends on if it's downloaded as a JPG or a PNG. for it to be the image alone without the white around it to fill its aspect ratio, you'd want a PNG, but simply saving the file off google images doesn't always work like that sometimes.

yo i dont have an option for 144fps it only goes to 60. i have a 144hz monitor.
I can't lie. I haven't found a solution for that :/ I just went and checked around once i read your comment, and i have no idea why it doesn't give 144hz as an option. i've always had it, so i've had no prior issue :(

i would recommend looking up the OpenGL as im not entirely educated on it; i had no issues with it before but it's worth looking into if your system lacks it!

i found it easy to just press within the tab of ZGameEditor and then press play instead of pressing within the actual Preview pop-out tab as it wouldn't show me the play back; hope this helps!

fl studio is a licensed purchase! it is rather costly/zgameeditor is a plug in that comes with it
how do i chage the picture mid song ?
the best tip id gives is that you would want to insert the other image you want as well as the original (the original and one you are switching to mid song). when it's time to switch the image, introduce it by lining it up into place to where you'd want it (presumably overlapping the original image) but have the alpha be 100% (invisible) so when it's time for the switch to happen, you can use the automation clip to make it 0% at that frame and have another automation clip for the original image's alpha to have it disappear. it's a lot harder to explain in words like this, but hopefully, you get the idea :^) hopefully, this helps!
TLDR; overlap images and have them swap alpha percentages when switching (original from 0%-100%; new image from 100%-0%)

@Articthecrazy @Articthecrazy i guess an easier way to put it is to do what i did in this tutorial for the image/sprite but for a second time with the different image you plan to have the change for mid song. when time comes for switching the image mid song, all you'll need to do is edit the alpha values to coorelate to what you want.
making automation clips is all generally the same here, and i do show how i did so with the alpha values and whatnot in the video. sorry, i wasn't able to get a clearer definition to begin with.

sadly i'm not familiar with FL Studio mobile as i haven't experimented with it yet :-( hopefully a tutorial exists/comes around to help out! wish i could help more :-/
