Nope! I am using DaVinci Resolve to edit and for the 2D motion graphics, and Blender + custom scripts I wrote to make all of the 3D animations! Edit: both programs are free!
This is one of the best comments I could get, thank you so so much ❤️ As I said to another commenter: I was scared that this video was going to fail miserably because I thought the topic would be too boring for most people as it's very technical (and boring for even most computer science students!), so I worked really hard on the writing, going through the whole script quite a few times and cutting a lot of slow/boring segments, I'm glad it paid off!
And the production level of this is truly on a whole other level. Both informative and entertaining, simply amazing! I sincerily hope you continue on as a creator.
as someone who's been working in the industry for the past 10 years, I'm glad to say that you've dumbed down everything so well that even my little nephew would understand this.
Thank you! I tried keeping it as accurate as possible while also entertaining people. When I had to learn about network protocols during my bachelors I got soooo bored.
woah! an underrated channel! great quality, so high quality infact that i thought you where going to start talking about nordvpn when you started talking about IP's
Damn everybody is praising the animations and they are awesome but I would say your creativity throughout the video is what makes it more engaging hope you get big
Thank you for the support! I was scared this would become my worst video as I thought the topic would be really boring, which pushed me to work a lot more on the presentation and pacing: glad to know it paid off!
Damn, I love how real the talking and teaching is mixed with the incredible editing made this so entertaining but I actually grabbed the information, also the mistakes and jokes makes it feel like back in highschool when you had a favorite teacher.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I actually put effort into balancing entertainment and information, as spitting a bunch of facts without pause would have made for a lame video. People learn the most when they're engaged, and if I have to crawl under my bed to keep you engaged, so be it!
Loved this video, awesome job! Like some other commenters I didn't even realize that this was such a small channel. Good luck on your journey!! Shared you with some friends too! They loved it as well, so keep up the good work!!!!
Oh that's a cool tidbit. I'm surprised I didn't hear about it in school but I guess it's a bit too obscure, it's been a while since I've seen a channel remotely like this. Well you've earnt a subscriber, I'll keep an eye out for the stuff you make in the future.
HOW T HE (bad word) DOES THIS VID ONLY HAVE 800 VIEWS THIS GUY NOT ONLY IS A (bad word + ing) GENIUS BUT HE ALSO MAKES SO (bad word + ing again cuz why not) GOOD VIDEOS
And one last comment for the algo and for my curiosity; what would to happen if one of the 7 key-holders suddenly were to «lose» their card, or if they died?
I didn't look too much into it because it gets very convoluted, but from my understanding there are "spare" keyholders that can be attend the key ceremony whenever a keyholder can't be there for whatever reason. If you think about it, you need such replacements to reduce the amount of power held by any keyholder. Without "spares" a single keyholder could just refuse to collaborate with the other 6 and jeopardize the safety of the entire DNS system.
This whole process still requires that you trust the people who hold the seven keys to act in your best interests. This is why it's important that the changing of the keys is a ceremonial affair - bureaucracies can become corrupt, but responsible people who are constantly reminded of the importance of their task can be trusted. Those seven normal humans' natural empathy and compassion is more trustworthy than any possible government authority can be, and if they prove otherwise they can be replaced much more easily. That's why it's important to keep in mind that the Internet is only centralized because we allow it to be.
Yep, some of the key actors involved in this whole process pretty much said the same thing as you: the ceremony is half serious and required, and half a little show to keep everyone in check. But, there are also a lot of critics of the whole estabilishment: a lot of crucial internet services are very much US-centric (probably because most of said services/features of the modern internet were born in the US) and that kinda sucks. One example is that both of the HSMs (the devices storing the private trust anchor) are stored in the US.
It's a bunch of convoluted mathematical operations involving really big prime numbers. Each of the two key is just that: a really big number. Whenever you "apply" one of the keys to a message, if you do the exact same thing with the other key, you get the original message. If you want to have a deeper look I suggest you read the wikipedia article for the RSA cryptosystem on wikipedia! Also, there's a whole open problem in computer science called the P vs NP problem, and one of the possible solutions to this problem would imply that every single encryption system in use today is actually useless and there could be people out there who found a way to break it and secretly intercept very important messages (i.e. big bank transactions, communications between governments, trade secrets, ...) But on a lighter note, most of the experts in the field believe that if that had been the case we would have already proven it by now, so it's very likely that our current systems are pretty secure (for now).
I searched around a bit, and it's a bit more complex than this: the poles were the first to figure out that employing statistics was the best thing to do (unlike britons using linguists to spot patterns in the encoded messages). The poles also cracked a "simpler" version of enigma, but the nazis quickly strengthened their protocols. So the reason while the british are credited with the achievement of breaking enigma is that they broke the "reinforcement" version used throughout ww2. Still, thanks for the extra information!
Exactly. Especially since TCP/IP are at lower levels of the internet protocol suite (Transport and Network, respectively, compared to DNS, which exists in the Application layer). But a lot of services that use DNS, which do not have fallback measures in case they can't perform DNS lookups would just crash and burn

Poland breached enigma first...
