As much as you say that he's griefing just for fun, it's still really wrong to do so. It's like punching someone and kicking him at his back until he vomits blood, and then telling him "you should've learned how to defend yourelf". It's fucked up man. And saying "he just does this for fun", yeah I guess he just does it for fun, but the effect of his actions is still damaging. It's like burning an entire forest and getting caught by the police, then you say "hey, it's just for fun! I don't intend to destroy wildlife!" ... but like, that's what you did. That's what you did exactly, destroy wildlide, ruin an entire forest. "But you should've secured the area!" Well that doesn't mean you should destroy it immediately just because there's no law saying that it should be watched. There is still a moral law and you broke it. Not everything has to be put into a paper to be considered an existing law. Likewise, saying "you should've whitelisted" is just a pathetic reason to such damaging acts. This should not be tolerated. Lastly, yes minecraft is a game where you can do EVERYTHING you want, but think, would you really wanna do ANYTHING? Even destroy someone's fun? What about that other guy you just ruined? Was he able to do what he wanted? No, he became a victim, helpless and hopeless. Sure he might be able to secure the next server he makes but the damage is done, you scared him, traumatized him, ruined him. Port scanning is also used by pentesters as part of their legitimate job, so it wouldn't be a good idea for any ISP to automatically block that kind of activity. Besides, from the perspective of the ISP, the amount of traffic from a port scan is relatively minuscule (as I understand)
honestly it sounds sad to be possessed by such a compulsive desire to make people's lives worse indiscriminately. i'd have maybe gotten it if he were going after people he thought were awful, whether you deem it good or bad vigilantism, whatever. but thats not the case. if something of "value" isnt lost, then was it really a grief? and he can't argue he isn't tearing down things that genuinely matter to people on a personal level just because its digital, or he could be getting his kicks making single player copies of those servers he mass griefs. people being upset is an inseparable facet to this. if he just wanted to shock and surprise people and cause a scene, there are ways to pursue it that doesn't hurt people. and if he thinks its not a big deal in the long run, that theyre learning a valuable lesson in better protecting their servers _because_ it matters to them- well- alright?? i get the feeling that he made a lot more people needlessly upset with his mass griefing, than in the timeline where he didn't pursue this bizarre dream, where people's servers were only rarely destroyed by this exploit, and more griefers _werent_ given the ease of access to polished griefing tools. but hey, i guess this is another glowing review of his work in his eyes, so im not sure why im typing this. i just find it really depressing that humanity can be like this. and yeah obviously this isnt the worst thing in the world, but the baseline motivations behind it is the kinda thing you dont want applied to how people use political power, or access to resources they really should not have been given for the sake of peace and safety. this aint the one and singular root of evil or whatever, but its still a kind of human motivation thats sad, and its kind of annoying to see mr epic praising this dude in any sense of the word.
fr, i unsubbed seeing him praise this dude. you dont know what kind of memories were lost because this guy decided to nuke hundreds of thousands of minecraft worlds. i wont be here for long, and a few folks may hold onto the worlds we played in. if something like that got nuked after i was gone, itd be reasonable for my friends to try and get this guy permanently banned. he's done so many griefs that it's not only likely, but guaranteed that he's nuked a world that may have been made by/with someone who has passed away. if he wanted to fuck with people for the love of the game, he couldve gone and built creepy structures a la herobrine and left behind a suspicious sign saying that their world is insecure.
I'm not reading all that but griefing isn't griefing if it isn't someone else's work being used actively and potentially there being only one copy of it.
Only a matter of time before someone tries to take legal action against him. Not sure how it would pan out but you get enough people this upset, it's bound to happen.
i wouldn't be surprised if this griefer is a psychopath, not that he doesn't know it's wrong, he really doesn't seem to process the anger that the owners of those servers feel, or why they would have a problem with him specifically, again, he has been told it's wrong, he knows it's "wrong", but he doesn't really comprehend the train of events that leads to it being "wrong" also many psychopaths take the griefing destroyer path for 1 reason; they like reputations, they do want to be known, however they don't really think for the long term (that's why many psychopaths agree to admitting to the crimes they have commited for like a sandwich or a meal when being interrogated), soooooooo.... want fast reputation, no long term thinking, no emotions (kinda), see? it makes sense right?
@@fabio5d you're right lmfao there are way more psychopaths than many of us think that to say that many psychopaths do find a way to fit into society in some way or another, it is thought that many MMA fighters are psychopaths, a good chunk of doctors are psychopaths, etc etc (if i'm not wrong with the data here, 20% of all psychopaths find a way to fit into the mold of society) not to say they're to be trusted, i remember a story i heard about a psychopath doctor that used to do her job perfectly fine and live a normal life, but at some point she fell in love or something, and to meet her crush (which was a police officer), she started silently and secretly murdering patients by overdosing them on something (i really don't remember the story very well) so yes, psychopaths (whether they choose it or not) do fucked up shit, for the stupidest and most of the time for the SLIGHTEST self-profit (like she was killing people to see a guy for 20 seconds), so it's fair for us to paint them as evil, because they are (even if they unfortunately don't want to be)

I am from Russia and i never heard about problems with logging in. But purchasing problem is true. Even before it become unavailable to purchase because of luck regional price for the game it was too expensive and a lot of people just didn't want to buy it. I disagree. Memories are important too. Imagine going to work only to find someone broke in. The only thing they touched was your photo album full of family photos and old childhood pets. It's missing. Then imagine the guy being caught, confesses to burning them, and saying he did it for the sport. Then he has the nerve to tell you it wasn't personal. That messes victims up.

Now that you show this method, I'm entirely sure that it was the same dude who griefed that server. I offered my help for the person by the way, since I know a few things about protection against this. Lucky thing they had backups.
it's the player's fault for disabling online mode for the server so that they can play with cracked accounts. altho I agree, mojang should at least try to educate people why offline mode and pirating Minecraft is a dumb idea
I know someone griefed a try of moving friends mapmaking server, but the person that was responsible for moving didn't really cared and the server was griefed in first week, we are now using essential, cause it is mostly one person's passion project (he's building backrooms for over a year now)
i hate this kinda person because the server im in got griefed the other day, its on offline mode because me and another friend just cant afford minecraft. its not even our fault
Thing is, this guy is just a clout chaser, when you stop giving him the attention he wants, he has nothing left. It's a really simple fix, and obviously this only works on servers without protection plugins. Minecraft's security is already laughable with exploits out the wazoo, but this just shows that negligence will be punished.
I kind of like the vibe that he has in which you get two types of reactions from being griefed: NOOO MY PROGRESS WHY WOULD DO THIS!?? - Oh that happened. How do I do prevent this from happening again? The latter response in which he happily provides. Dude's kind of like Loki in that respect except at least when asked he provides the means to allow players and owners to defend themselves from such an exploit until Mojang actually does something about it. He seems real casual about it and I kind of respect it but I think thematically it is very appropriate that he labels his destroyers terminators and his Discord is Skynet.

Agreed. Sadly, most of this comments section idolizes him and calls him "based." Nothing about griefing people and their friends for clout is based. There are also many other ways to teach someone about server security. You don't have to destroy their server.
Agreed. If he really did care about that, he could just log into those servers with Skynet and spam normal signs across the map with a help website URL.

I found the language you used to describe this dude to be a bit too forgiving, he's a griefer ruining other peoples fun. He's not some amazing guy, some dedicate palyers. He's just ruining everyone else's fun because he cant enjoy the game by himself. Quite frankly, I find the positive light you tried to spin him in kinda disquieting ngl.

this is just confusing.
I agree with this comment

i would love to be in his position

An experience never to be forgotten, a scar never to disappear, and it's not even a good thing.
These players are depressing, I hope they find other things to have fun with rather than the destruction of others' freedoms.
Obviously doing something bad just for fun is a wrong thing to do. And it was not hidden that the guy just loved griefing and chaos. Very obvious that "just doing it for the fun" is no excuse or whatsoever, LOL, atleast for bad things that is. The youtube guy didn't break no moral laws, as he didn't defend it, huh?

when is the man going to get blacklisted by their isp for effectively port scanning for minecraft servers?
probably using a server hoster that looks the other way.
What about blacklisted from society?

@@Klaryeah, it's more akin to cultural destruction/marauderism/t_rr_r_sm
Only a matter of time before someone tries to take legal action against him. Not sure how it would pan out but you get enough people this upset, it's bound to happen.
i wouldn't be surprised if this griefer is a psychopath, not that he doesn't know it's wrong, he really doesn't seem to process the anger that the owners of those servers feel, or why they would have a problem with him specifically, again, he has been told it's wrong, he knows it's "wrong", but he doesn't really comprehend the train of events that leads to it being "wrong"
also many psychopaths take the griefing destroyer path for 1 reason; they like reputations, they do want to be known, however they don't really think for the long term (that's why many psychopaths agree to admitting to the crimes they have commited for like a sandwich or a meal when being interrogated), soooooooo.... want fast reputation, no long term thinking, no emotions (kinda), see? it makes sense right?
Well if that's the case then it's for the better that he's just doing it on minecraft
@@fabio5d you're right lmfao
there are way more psychopaths than many of us think
that to say that many psychopaths do find a way to fit into society in some way or another, it is thought that many MMA fighters are psychopaths, a good chunk of doctors are psychopaths, etc etc
(if i'm not wrong with the data here, 20% of all psychopaths find a way to fit into the mold of society)
not to say they're to be trusted, i remember a story i heard about a psychopath doctor that used to do her job perfectly fine and live a normal life, but at some point she fell in love or something, and to meet her crush (which was a police officer), she started silently and secretly murdering patients by overdosing them on something (i really don't remember the story very well)
so yes, psychopaths (whether they choose it or not) do fucked up shit, for the stupidest and most of the time for the SLIGHTEST self-profit (like she was killing people to see a guy for 20 seconds), so it's fair for us to paint them as evil, because they are (even if they unfortunately don't want to be)
