Honestly that smile he made after he flew away on His cactaur mount is so wholesome. And it made me remember all the times I had just like this were your just so happy that the grind is over and you finally have the thing u wanted so badly lol
I think that really epitomizes why I love FF so much. There's so much you can *do* that's so rewarding - and almost none of it is mandatory. Want to learn all the Blue Mage spells? How about become a master-rated Mahjong or Triple Triad competitor? Then there's the level titles, the ones you get for getting all Disciple of War or Magic to level 50, 60, 70, 80. Depending on what you actually *like* about the game, there's all sorts of things to work towards. I love that.
@@Maria_Erias Well, getting all (non-limited) Disciple of War/Magic to 80 gets you an Amaro mount with unique music, which is great. Helps that the story also conditions you to like amaro so you want to grind for it
@@ralphbeez1411 I love how almost every mount in the game has its own unique music. Currently my main mount is the Zodiark mount cause I love his theme so much.
And then it's over in a few minutes or hours and you start the grind for something else.

@@owlnite_ Well, if he is actually ging for the Necromancer title, the only help he can get are written or video guides. Since for the title you have to finish all 200 floors of Palace of the Dead solo
Just for reference, the WoW equivalent of the Gold Saucer is the Darkmoon Faire. Yeah... Its like comparing a luxury all-inclusive resort, to a motel 8.
Blizzard could totally have turned the Darkmoon Faire into something like the Golden Saucer. But they won't, because they don't care about making their game fun anymore. They chase MAUs and systems that force player engagement simply to keep people logged in and grinding endless "content" that will get thrown in the trash in the next patch.
The devs of FF14 are gamers who work on a game that they love. The devs of WoW are wannabe Gustavo Frings, trying to come up with the ultimate addictive drug to hook people into meaningless content.

@@BaneHydra A month is nothing. And he did it when the 50% extra event was going on. Doing that outside of the event would have taken longer. And him getting addicted to Choco racing helped too. Just sayin

Yeah,for me "farming for fun" sounds like an oxymoron in most games but in this one it doesn't even seem that bad and life draining
@@RAD1111able Well, tbf, it has its moments. Eureka and Bozja are a painful grind. Luckily, you don't actually need to do it, unless you want a glowy cool weapon for glam. The Relic weapons are pretty, but not actually necessary to play the game. They're nice to have to be slightly more bitey than the usual, but not a deal breaker.
i just started after watching Asmon have fun, i was only playing SWTOR from 2013-2016 and maybe now new adventures awaits.
I got 300k for mounts, but waste all in glamour. LOL

Asmon breaking 2,000,000 with a Slice is Right victory was the hypest Gold Saucer win I ever got to watch.

Considering asmon almost never leaves his house and just plays games all day. I'm guessing that's a year's worth of content so far for casual players. After all the free trial has no time limit.
It's not hard to rack up lots of MGP, but it's one of those things that you can't really grind out obsessively every moment of the day. I used to get together with a friend every other night or so. We'd park ourselves in the Golden Saucer and hit up the GATEs when they came up at every :20 on the hour. In between, we'd stream stuff together or play Minecraft or Hearthstone matches. If you do your daily tickets and knock out 3-4 GATEs in a day, you can make 10-20k MGP a day. Add in the 10k just for showing up for the Fashion Report each week and the 4500+ just for losing at the big Cactpot every week, and it does add up over time. Plus, there's about 20-30k MGP every week for the Challenges there, too, so even in a week of casual playing you can earn 100K+.
@@Maria_Erias Not to mention that we literally just had a Gold Saucer event that increases the rate of MGP gain, so that increased all those gains even more.

@@petnaby i'm not just talking about his time in the gold saucer tho, the raids the other mount quests, the story quests, transmog hunting all of those.
There was an ongoing event that gave +50% of all the earnings so that helped him quite a bit too
It's awesome how that mount takes a MINIMUM of a month(Usually way more) to grind, but nobody is upset about it because it's FUN to grind!
he better stick with fashion reports or he's gonna kick himself for not saving the 200k for the regalia next month.
still remember farming it when we didnt have that much many GATEs in ARR for Fenrir, and i still use this mount almost as main one, together with pvp one from Garo event, Raigo is love. 2 mounts i was always most proud and happy about getting.
You can farm that mount within a week during the MGP event. Some people farmed both Fenrir and Emperadour during the event. It's a truly insane grind though.

His most viewed content in WoW are transmog competitions and Mount off competitions. Raiding is probably a goal, but it isn't weird to see Fashion Leader.
If he was just a raider he probably wouldn't have graduated into a 5 or 6 digit view count guy on Twitch.
@@semi6544 Sure it’s weird to see Fashion Leader. He talks all tough about having a character that is a badass and emulates him in a sense, to see Fashion Leader is literally the opposite of his persona
To be fair, Fashion Leader is really easy to achieve if you have access to the Marketboard and a ton of gil. The real challenge is getting Fashion Leader while on the Free Trial.
He literally stalled MSQ for a week to do sync'd min ilvl ARR raids and EXs what are you even talking about lmfao. Heaven forbid he have some fucking fun in the game w side content

It's supposed to only be 200k mgp, too. I haven't been watching all the streams, but has Asmon discovered Chocobo Racing or Triple Triad yet? Or the Minion battles (Verminion's Challenge, upstairs in the GS)?
Look at how happy he is! I remember seeing his vids months before he tried 14 and he looked so grumpy but look at him he's full of joy after getting the mount! I call this character development.
That satisfied smile at the end when he used his new mount is just awesome

Way to go, man. I'm the same way on that mount: I targeted it first over some of the other mounts just because it is that much more special. Congrats, and glad you got your giant cactus boi.
Imagine if WOD had something like the gold saucer instead of garrisons. But Blizzard doesn't have that kind of creativity any more, they haven't for years.
Blizzard was always at their best in the old days when they stole ideas from other companies and put their own spin on it. They did that all through the vanilla, BC, and Wrath era. Around Cataclysm, the big first generation graphical MMOs had mostly died down - EverQuest, Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, etc. So, Blizzard stopped having a lot of contemporary to steal ideas from. After that, the successful MMOs - FFXI, FF14, ESO, SWTOR, Guild Wars 2 - had all split off from the EverQuest clone idea (which is what WoW was, an EverQuest-type MMO).
The core problem was not in garrisons, but its design which made players sit there forever

The Cactus mount was the first grind in FFXIV for me. Only level 35 sprout with it. Feels good, man.

Dude, ive played this game way before this mount was added. Granted i have fenrir, but like asmongold took it like a champ and grinded this out first. Nothing but respect from me.

Simple childhood joy, so good to see. A year ago, the thought of Asmongold farming the Gold Saucer in FFXIV for a Cactus mount being held up by floating balloons... to use an Asmon quote, "not in this reality!" But yet here we are, it is strange times we live in, and not all for the worse.
Can't wait for Chocobo Racing (Ultimate) when he has to race against 7 stream snipers at once
It says a lot about the Gold Saucer. Just straight-up fun optional content and you can see it that brings joy by looking at Asmon's smile at the end.
If Blizzard wants to make a comeback with WoW, they need to remember what fun is and not add in different kinds of mandatory boring grinds.

I put a couple hundred hours into ffxiv right before shadowbringers came out and honestly didn’t even realize the extent of content in gold saucer. I only ever played the card game there a bit. Triple Triad? The jumping course stuff looks pretty fun, I almost played guild wars after seeing the jumping puzzles or whatever in that game.

I think it's important to recognize, this mount takes a lot of dedication and time to get. Some people might think 2 million MGP is "easy" to get but it is not, you need to toil away for a while to get it done. Grats Asmon! :)
