I like the fact that the entire demo is nothing but clean crisp picking. I loves me some dirt, but it's often hard to know in demos, no matter who is making them, what is the amp and what is the pedal. I can be confident that *everything* I hear in this demo is the pedal and nothing but. Thanks, Andy. And Happy New Year to you and yours.
There are far better options, at $229. This won’t sound like that Carbon Copy, as it’s a pristine digital delay. I’d check the Keeley Andy Timmons deal at out too. There are many dual delays, and multi delays, that can do what this does and more.
Was it available on New Years Day? I Still Haven't Found What I am Looking For in a reverb pedal. Hopefully I won't be Running To Stand Still when I go to the music store to get this With Or Without You or anyone else. Sounds real good though Even Better Than The Real Thing which I believe was an Electro Harmonix Memory Man. I don't know if I would go To The End Of The World to get it though. My town is not on Google Maps as its Where The Streets Have No Name so I have to go far to a music store. The sound does make me Numb though, the settings work in Mysterious Ways, way beyond a typical reverb/delay pedal so thats what makes it The Sweetest Thing. I'd like to hear it in stereo and real loud like you are in a Discotheque only then I will desire it.
8:38 reminds me a bit of when U2 made a guest appearance on the Daniel Lanois produced debut eponymous Robbie Robertson solo album. The song is Sweet Fire of Love.
yes, one pedal can contain the best of Edge's delay tones, its called the TC 2209P digital delay pedal. But this delay is really good as well, this pedal has incredible features for a small profile pedal....it's really badass.
Edge has used Korg SDD3000 and TC 2290 delays. His tech, Dallas Schoo helped Korg developed the SDD3000 pedal. He used EH Deluxe Memory Man (pre-War album). Odd that it’s taken effects makers 40+ years to get to making Edge specific pedals. The MXR seems pretty cool.
I really understand that 😂😂 But it has it's learning curve, which isn't for everyone. So there is still a market for regular stompboxes with an easy tactile aproach :-)
It definitely takes time, to really get the most out of, but it can also be simply operated like a pedal board, with basic effects, one into the next. After that, it doesn't take long to realize you can connect an LFO to a control of your choice in a reverb module, and now you are modulating any control you like....and the adventure has begun... @@lennert123
The Edge definitely used the MM early on but I believe Joshua is going after vintage rack effects, especially with the octaves/shimmer and dual delay. Thanks!
@@AndyDemos ok that clears it up a little better, If I remember right when they did their roof top LA shoot for a music video they had a rack setup by then. Yeah out of the 80's the Memory Man deluxe was considered the pedal that defined that era and many used it and had their specific sound they developed from it "Live" as an example was a bit later in the 90s.
May be the first pedal Andy Demos has talked me down from buying. Excellent concept, clever name, but tinny (read: digital) to my ears with I daresay too many options. Like why I got rid of my EHX Canyon and haven’t looked back.
i like U2...but I've watched most of the demos that have come out in the past week...and I don't know what it is, but this pedal doesn't seem that exciting to me...
Seems like a good "gap filler" pedal for some players in their first 3-5 years who aren't ready to plunge into a H9, Strymon or what have you. The name helps it be meme-worthy in a sea of delay pedals, so it was smart marketing at least. The limited control and interfacing is easily beaten by a few dedicated pedals, but it is fine for a lean rig.
not everyone wants to spend an hour designing a delay in a big box effect. i went through that for a long time and my big box effects got sold for smaller, simpler boxes with great sounds and less complexity. just play and stop worrying if your delay feedback isn’t 100% accurate to an accidental setting from an album recorded on very different hardware 35 years ago.
I don’t think delay needs are linear to time on guitar. I’ve been playing since ‘89 and I’m currently using the simplest delay I’ve ever owned (mxr Carbon mini)
I must be missing it … the Edge plays a lot of single note lead lines over his unique delay settings … this sounds nothing like it all… at least not the way he is showcasing it.
@@AndyDemos true but his point is 100% valid. The U2 songs showcase the dotted 8th better than ANY other and we know them so well if you played them it would validate the pedal in a matter of seconds.

I gotta say the second I heard this one I was sold… it was like it had my name written all over it.
Thanks Andy!
A lot of sound variety & good tones in an unusually small footprint. I like it!
This may not be the original pedal that The Edge used, but it seems like it's Even Better Than the Real Thing.
Take my up vote, please.
yes, that's him right there officer...
I see what yoau did there...
The One?
Thank you for taking the time out to capitalize all the letters even funnier!
Nice playing Andy as usual. One of the better demos to see the true versatility of the Joshua. Cheers

Andy is exceptionally good at that.
@@prestongrimes5430 That he is.
I love MXR, they've been killing it. Their reverb is still probably the best one for the price. I love my carbon copy but might need to get this

Great demo. Clear examples. Covered everything I wanted to know about this pedal. Thank you.
(I believe) this is the 1st pedal of 2024 .... and it's a killer! A great start to a whole new year of amazing products.
I like the 3 8th note setting - I could tell he was tempted to start into How Soon Is Now
good name for a pedal, if edge ever has a signature explorer it should be called the rattle and strum
I’d buy one. “On new gears day!!” 🎤🎶
@@SignificanceOfThePassageOfTime sounds like a bloody fun day!
Another good one Andy. This sort of sounds like the music I woke up and found on my iPhone /iTunes one day in 2014. But this sounds better.

not "bad"

I came here to see if this was the ultimate U2 delay pedal - but I still haven’t found what I’m looking for…
Some have a way with words; Andy's got a way with notes;)
Hey thanks so much!!
He used a 2290 and some sort of Roland Delay rack with a lot of plate and hall reverb I believe with some shimmery modulation
I believe the other one was a Korg SDD 3000 but I could be wrong.

The people who are named Joshua are definitely gonna buy it lol
It reminds me to one of the EHX delay pedals like "Memory Man"
This with an MXR Duke of Tone and a Sugar Drive or Timmy.. into a Boss IR-2 and Bono will come sing with ya.
Great demo. Missing the 65 amp SoHo!

And that G&L Legacy
2:12 - 2:14 "... who always push his delay tone to the Edge" I see what you did there Andy

Alors faite pour jouer du u2 ou non???
Wouldn't you just buy a Electro Harmonix Memory Man deluxe? I assume MXR this is their version with a few convenience options.

I need that pedal

Buy a CBA Thermae and be done with it.
That thing has 4 bucket brigade analoge chips in it!
Same reason I got rid of my EHX Canyon. So digital sounding
It sounds good, but I'm pretty sure there are plenty of delay pedals with these features already
True, though probably not at the $240 USD price point.
I'm thinking a BOSS DD-200 or DD-500 is all you need especially if you buy used you can get them at a decent price over new.

Am thinking of selling my Timeline for this. Timeline has way too many sounds i will never use.
Happy 2024 ☮
I was excited to try this pedal recently, but found it to be too “metallic” sounding overall.
Ya I hear this as well with earbuds
Un pedal en honor a The Edge y ninguna canción de U2 en el vídeo. Puff...
I literally have 4,328 delay pedals. CAN'T. BUY. ANOTHER. DELAY. PEDAL....
I can get similar out of my eventide ultratap 😊
seems like the Boss SE202
Sort of. Not quite though.
Well, take my Carbon Copy and give me this please...
My buddy and I went into the guitar store and asked the salesperson who needs this pedal, and he pointed at us and said "you two"
Stop making pedals I want!

how?!? that’s a reverb. this is a dual modulated delay.
1978 is a reverb based on vintage gear. this is a digital delay for church players.

ridiculously overpriced pedal for what it is considering the features of competitors like the starlight, DD500/200, and halo
