Okay so you guys hired a polo to drive on gravel roads through parks and reserves then complained about gravel roads throughout the video, why? They have paved roads in Namibia but for those who want to do the gravel adventure usually gets a 4x4 and enjoys.
Always lower tire pressures on a gravel road a bit and do at least 80km/h so that you travel on top of the ridges of the corrugations instead of going into them and shaking everything to bits. We used to do 140km/h on the corrugations once you get the skills and confidence levels up, then those roads become smooth. Namibia : My country of birth - lovely presented guys - glad you enjoyed it.
You all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any tricks you can give me!
@Stefan Cade i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Great video! It brings back memories... We (parents and siblings) used to live in Namibia, then called South West Africa, when I was at school. We used to live in Windhoek and several mines and I attended several schools and boarding schools in both Windhoek and Omaruru. Namibia is an amazing country with amazing people and given the opportunity I would move there in a heartbeat. There is something about Namibia that, once you have lived there, will always be a part of you and you will always long to return.
I don't know what's weirder: the fact that this guy posted his holiday video on the Internet for complete strangers to watch, or the fact that I'm actually watching it
Well done, you’ve created lovely memories, I know of people who’ve done amazing journeys, in even smaller cars. It’s the spirit of freedom and to see new places, that’s important. 👌👍🤩🤩
Currently planning my own self-drive in Namibia and while I'm certainly opting for a 4x4 I love this video. Hilarious commentary on Rolf, and not the typical BS sunshine and rainbows video. Gives a more realistic perspective. Well done!
I appreciate the kind words, Josh. Definitely no rainbows in Namibia, haha. But lots of sunshine. Wise move going for the 4x4. You're gonna have a great time!

Whoa. Good luck! We have a baby now and are worried he'll slow us down. Show us how it's done… maybe so we can make trip to Mozamb soon. It's near the top of our list.
Namibia by Polo!! :-D ..that's pretty unconventional so don't complain, Namibian roads are the best! Next time get a more suitable vehicle... ;-) ...poor Rolf the city boy! Good one!! You made it! Congratulations!!
Love the budget polo Namibia... We did the same thing in South Africa 🤣🤣 Did you get on okay with Ralph (or in hindsight- should have hired Michael, the superior driver?) Love the vlog; shame about the 🩲 music 🙄
Yeah, in retrospect we would've gone with Mega Mike instead poor little Mr. I-Think-I-Can Rolf. But that would've been an extra $100 a day, so it's not an easy tradeoff. Fair enough on the music. Definitely don't watch our rap videos, in that case...
I appreciate your encouragement, Afsal! I wish I could. Believe it or not, my videos take like 30hr each to make. And I need to use the toilet sometimes. So for now a daily vid's not feasible. I'm open to tips on being more efficient and topic ideas you might have, though!
That was pretty awesome, I would love to visit Namibia someday. Where are you from, I'm not hearing a South African accent. You sound American or Canadian maybe?
@@benjamine7699 Definitely not. Funny enough, we just rented another Polo here on the beautifully paved roads in Canada, drover over ONE rock, and the thing punctured our oil pan causing $1000s in damage. Polos in Namibia are stronger, I guess.
We should have least tried. I'd be worried about veering out of control, though. Saw and heard of lot of cars a lot more capable than ours that did so.
Hola.
Nope. Rolf was old-school like that. You made me chuckle thinking of putting him in cruise control to cruise along at... like 25km/h on some of those roads.
Ha, that's like saying "Next time use mosquito spray in order not to call our swamp buggy," or, "Wear a jacket to not call Canada cold in the winter." All wise moves, but none change the shitty/buggy/cold reality.
Namibia is voted as the best roads in Africa & 23rd globally, you guys are driving in national parks & game reserves then tryna complain about roads , don’t paint a fake stereotype about Namibia it out ranks South Africa in roads
Mmmm next time pick ur words carefully, you seem to have an underlying condescending tone towards my beautiful country. Who drives a sedan into a safari/off road?

Kak comment. Even South Africans have no clue about Nam so give these two a break🤣
On spot

Smooth trip. Most folks tend to assume the bigger the car the more the mileage you can cover but these small cars really get the job done.
Namibia has the best roads in Africa and is ranked 23rd best in the whole world.

Not TOO much. But we did enjoy ourselves. Just too much time trapped in a car for our liking.

GREAT VIDEO INDEED, HANDS UP FOR RALPH.
11:15 IT was not Lance Armstrong.....his name was Neil Armstrong :-D
Why the music???????
Wait, did you take the shuttle to the 4x4 parking at Deadvlei or did you make it with Rolf?
Read the blog and got the answer. Shuttle at N$170/R170 PP.
@@rynhardtbrits1940 Yeah, if we'd tried taking Rolf to Deadvlei, Rolf would still be there.
A rookie mistake is to drive slow on a gravel road. 70km/h+ makes it more comfortable to drive gravel.

Hola que tal?? recomiendas ir con un coche de esas características por Namibia?? algún impedimento?

Oh, that's an easy one: $ + naivety.
How much more for a 4x4?
@@TheZagmaybe do a little research next time. A little damage to the bottom and you would have lost more.
Love you guys from Pakistan. I hope you visit Pakistan as well.
We'd love to visit and have heard amazing things.
PS Are the roads any better than Namibia?

@@TheZag OH ... MY ... GAAAAAWD!!! Oh nooooo.... Hahaha. Jeez... you guys have guts! Still, great trip report 😊
You're Canadian right? Would you take the polo in the snow adventure? And if you get stuck, would you blame it on your government?🙄
If the roads were permanently covered in snow, never cleared, and used heavily for tourism, yes indeed.
No one drives with a polo in the outskirts of Namibia
Makes sense. Kim and I are nobodies.
Next use a 4x4 in order not to call our roads shitty.
Ha, that's like saying "Next time use mosquito spray in order not to call our swamp buggy," or, "Wear a jacket to not call Canada cold in the winter." All wise moves, but none change the shitty/buggy/cold reality.
Sorry bro - our roads are shitty - they were just not driving like us : ie. Fast enough
@@TheZag use a 4x4 next time, you're driving off road. Namibia has one of the best roads in Africa. It's gravel what did you expect.

Namibia is voted as the best roads in Africa & 23rd globally, you guys are driving in national parks & game reserves then tryna complain about roads , don’t paint a fake stereotype about Namibia it out ranks South Africa in roads

@@TheZag what you needed to understand is that Namibia doesn’t build roads in game reserves , it wants tourists to experience the true nature
Polo
lance ......
That off road need a toyota hilux straight not small car
Offroading with a Polo, are you for real?
Haha. Some say we're living in a simulation, so maybe the trip was a glitch.

I stopped watching because of your music in the background...
Too much noise, absurdly inappropriate garage music, flashing pictures that it made one dizzy. & nauseous.
Yeah, better to go and see it with your own eyes.
even for the horses you just called them negro ? you guys even in Africa you come to visit but still you call us negro .hmmmm
Huh? Do we say "negro" in this video? Or did you watch a Spanish dubbed version? I don't even think we say "black," though. No entiendo, Philip.
