Tolles Video!
I bought this camera new when it first came out. I used it a few times for work. Since then I bought a rx100 and an a6000 Sony. I always go back to the g12.
2:03 Argh, I think this shot is such a cool idea!... But I also think in the case maybe the two pillars just take too much frame area and so block more of the visual interest than actually leading into it... Had to comment on that one weak (in my very own humble opinion) shot only because all the others are so beautifully judged, visually balanced!!! Btw wow this whole video is interesting and different, havent seen commentary-less like this, just out shooting. Ive been postoning going out and just shooting for too long I should do that. I really want G12 btw lol but on the fence if I should just go for it or save up for a G1X, hmmm. I guess in reality both would make me happy, but naturally Im also tempted by the bigger sensor. Omg a pair of thunderous supermoto bikes just passed by outside only adding to the epic atmosphere me commenting here in the dark room, only my cat silently breathing warm second blanket.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. I'm really happy. And you might even be right about the picture at 2:03. Otherwise, buy the camera where you think you'll be happiest with it. None are bad. And then just go out and take photos. And pet the cat while looking at the pictures. :)
is already in other comments here 😁. But here for you:Custom Color: Contrast -2, Sharpness -1, Saturation 0, Red +1, Green -1, Blue +2, White Balance Cloudy
This is a very capable camera with plenty of pro features, I bought one recently and I’m struggling a bit to learn how to use the Av and Tv modes without under/over exposing all the time. The EV compensation and ISO dials are very helpful to change it quickly but I find myself a bit confused. Good thing we can also change the strength of the flash, I like to use it to fill-in some light on portraits. Did you used auto white balance all the time? The photos look creamy and punchy, I like it.
I never use flash. I use my own custom settings profile with the camera, which is probably why the creamy look. You can try it out. Custom Color: Contrast -2, Sharpness -1, Saturation 0, Red +1, Green -1, Blue +2, White Balance Cloudy
@@MrAndreCoutinho Hey, try different metering modes!!! In settings. Canons usually have "evaluative", "spot" and "frame average" or such, right? Evaluative is some version of center weighted, so it adjusts the amount of light based on how lit the whole frame is, BUT, multiplies/factors in some central part of the frame much more than the rest, magnifies it's importance, hence "center weighted" (again, though, canon'a name for this is "Evaluative" and it might even be more advance than that, however I am not knowledgeable further on this, moving on) Spot only judges that central part. Average is average. Since ur camera is obviously not getting it right (and usually "Evaluative" is the default), try changing to spot or average!!! Spot is intuitive because you can mentally treat it as autofocus - aim the center of the frame (the little autofocus point/area) where you want to get the result, then half press to lock metering/focus and THEN move the frame around to get the composition... But then the problem is, what if the thing you are focusing on is also too bright, now you cant quite separate your focus from your exposure lock (half press locks both of those, I believe - few cameras have an option to separate them) So because of all this, definitely try Average, too! As that one can be more simple and intuitive, so possibly then predicting the correct exposure compensation will be easier and much more consistent!!! Play around with it, you will very quickly enjoy these hidden karate moves.
@@billieguitar Thanks a million buddy! This is very helpful, I might try it. I already play moving the frame to get a more precise focus on the subject, it works fine, I’ll explore more of its capabilities.

Great photos. Are you using Vivid setting? I have the Canon RP and have been satisfied with the JPG color -- I tweak some in post. Also shoot in RAW + JPG, but really, Canon has what could be the best rendering JPG. Nikon colors are pretty neat too - punchy. The more I think about it, Olympus and Lumix these days are also hitting the mark for great JPG. I understand Sony improved their colors within recent years. The overall rendering of that 13 year old. is great!
Thank you very much You can create a custom setting in the G12. I did that. I picked one out on youtube and am very satisfied. It's a fun little camera. I think all new cameras can do good jpg these days. Mainly in black and white.

I haven't had the SX500 in my hand yet. It seems to be slightly larger than the G12. From the technical data, it should be better than SX500. I would really depend on the price. In terms of the image look, they should be very similar. There weren't many differences with the CCD sensor.
@@pixelkiez I've found G12 cheaper than SX500 and I thought to ask you;) Is G12 a good camera to start photography with? I can't spend too much money on a dslr camera
Some nice pics. Love the old G-series Canons! I have a G9 I carry as an everyday carry and it's superb. The CCD sensor is *chef's kiss*
I was also very surprised at the good picture quality. CCD is just awesome
I bought one for every day carry. Beautiful old gear
Oh yeah, have fun with the cam 🙌
Great video. I just recently dug up my old G11 that i bought brand new years ago. I'm having fun resurrecting it.
Oh very cool. Then have fun with the good old thing.
