I always skeptical about "recipe", film-like color, etc and thought it's just about the location (bcz i live in Indonesia, and the tropical sunlight just sucks for daylight photo) but when i see your photo around Jogja I realized the location isn't a limitation. All we need is creativity and bit exercise. Great video!

I had (and have) the G12, amazing colors (images depend on thread photographer). The CCD, which i think it was made by Fuji (i could be wrong) is one of the best, beats all newer sensors, which is why CCD is used in aerial imagery to this date

I tried this recipe and I think it looks better with a Tungsten white balance, at least indoors. It gets very close to Kodachrome. The Fluorescent H is almost like a sepia. I’m still trying to figure what works best on a bright sunny day. Any tips? Edit: with further more shots, I realized that it depends what white balance preset works better for some situations. Changing the warmth hue also gives it some punch, this is actually helpful to not make the person on portrait look too pale.
Indeed. Some people prefer to stick to one WB for each recipe, while some prefer to keep it on auto. Me? I'm more of the former. I think that white balance shift is key. But sometimes, I find it difficult to mimic a specific film since the control options are limited, though it's still fun to play around. At the end of the day, the most important thing is just to shoot and make photos. Cheers :)

It takes great photos for me, especially when putting the settings to my liking. I also still own the G5 when I bought it over 20 years ago. It took great pics then and now. Just realised these are the same settings from another TH-camr that i had set as my C1. I wanna say it was George Holden but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway, had another guy's seeing on my C2 but it really wasn't what I'm after. Will try your alternate setting for my C2 ;)
Lost my company and completely crashed financially... I had to sell all my Leica gear which included the M9 which I got a copy CLA'd and sensor replaced with only 14 shots. SOOOOO, now that sad story turns into a better one. I am glad to be away from the clinical obsession of leica and just looking for a great ccd cam to give me that look. I am asking for the G12 for xmas. Thanks for a great video.
It should. But if you want to tweak more recipes, you will need the white balance shift/white balance bracketing, which you will only have on the G11 and later models, I believe
The idea is to mimic film stocks, which, from what I understand, have fixed white balance. For example, Kodak Vision3 500T is a tungsten film, while Kodak Portra has daylight white balance. So, regardless of the situation, the white balance is fixed. I would recommend using different recipes in various weather and situations. For night photography, my Kodak Vision3 500T might produce a preferable look. Hope you enjoy :)

The image quality is decent, but again, there are limitations. However, limitations make us creative. Still, I think we should be aware of the prevailing trend of CCD sensors that is driving up the prices of this camera and other G series models. I reckon around 100 bucks is fair enough :)
Foto2 yg ada di video memang hasil tweak setting dari kmera biar mirip ala majalah abad 20an. jadi agak muted. Tapi sebetulnya warna default g12 sudah cukup filmic
I suppose so, if all the dials and parts are in working condition. If you find the same price for the Canon G1X mk1, I would go for the G1X instead, unless you really want the CCD sensor. My recipes should work on the G1X or any Canon cameras with the same layout setting, especially with the white balance shift feature.
@@darbybluish Turn the knob to P (Program) mode and make the necessary settings. The changes will be saved automatically the next time you turn your camera on. You can also save/assign the settings you just configured to C1 or C2.

The G15 features an f/1.8 lens, while the Canon G12 and G1X has an f/2.8 lens :)
