Every time you bring up Chosen not being immune to psychology I believe more and more it’s just eating away at your soul 😂.
Hollow Getsuga not as bad as Phoenix guard, who literally know and have accepted their deaths, not being immune to psychology. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve lost because my Phoenix guard, in the late game, just repeatedly terror route from a sphinx or other monster that they’d otherwise beat without issue.

Its funny because scourge-runner chariots were a meme in the tabletop for dark elves, somehow became their best unit in TW:WH

@@Mrnatethegreat2002 Without delving too much into the mechanics of tabletop, scourgerunner chariots were incredibly niche. The rules are such that you couldn't shoot if you engaged in melee. Their gimmick was they can harpoon a monster and drag them toward the chariot (with a 50% chance of hurting it in the process). The problem was the chariot is easy to destroy, shorter range, and expensive (double the cost of a bolt thrower).
On paper, it sounds good to move an enemy out of position. However, as elves you can expect your troops to be outnumbered so betting those points/gold on a niche unit is a waste.
There are lots of examples of differences though! Grimgor in tabletop is an absolute monster you want to avoid fighting, in TW:WH he is a meme as turin points out.
They are quite OP in AoS Cities of Sigmar btw. Some people make armies with 70% of them being Scourgerunners because 3 of them are quite cheap when taken in 3 and powerful as well. 27 models of them is quite a sight to behold. And it’s nowhere close to being a cheap army.
Warhammer tabletop had too many silly rules like too many shooting modifiers.
Grimgor though was insane with effectively an Initiative 15 like an elf. 5 attacks at strength 8 meant he could clean up anything.
It's alao funny that chameleon skinks are trash in campaign and great in multi.

I’ve literally never played a total war game in my life but it was your commentary videos that got me so interested in them.
It's how new gaming marketing works. Get people intrested by flat "sumo" pressure on the social medias with influencers.
Also, you'll need playtesters during the beta right? Call it early access and make them pay for it. Anyway, those losers don't know that the game will only be complete 4 years in the future, when all DLCs and patches are out.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The vampire coast handgunners aren't bad. They were long described wrong as anti infantry. They are anti LARGE! i noticed this when 2 Handgunners absolutely destroyed a charging cavalry before they could land their charge. They have multiple shots (shotgun) and should therefor ONLY be used vs large monsters and Cavalry. Try it out they are good!

as for your request at the end, I'm just happy listening to you make top 10 videos if you want. top 10 things you'd like implemented for multiplayer, top favorite units, top 10 predictions for WH3. I'm low maintenance like that.
Something else about the chameleon skinks' chameleon trait that I'm surprised wasn't mentioned is its built-in stealth, making them even more valuable to avoid the attention of usual anti-skirmishing tools
Waywatchers, nerfed something like 5 times now, still overpowered.
More like how the Wood Elf roster outside waywatchers is meh, and waywatchers are amazing. In tabletop all WE archer unit had AP so waywatchers weren't so special like they are in TWW
@@qihaoliu3631 The glade guard with starfire shafts have AP but that and the rest of the WE being meh doesn't change or matter to the fact that Waywatchers are still overpowered.
@@qihaoliu3631 Well, the issue is that high ap archers turned out to be really powerful due to the way this game works. And if they could have it on archers that weren't actually that expensive, especially with how good their range is, WE would be blatantly overpowered.
@@sirgaz8699 I agree that waywatchers are really strong but are they OP such that they deserve further nerfs? The +50 cost meant you can no longer bring 4 WW in tournaments on top of their HP and speed nerfs. And its not like WW builds are invincible -- there are very good counters so either you lost with army selection or you got outplayed. Starfire shafts are more cost effective AP range units but they get compromised too easily. Considering that WE are not even strong outside a few MU, if WW got nerf another round without any buffs to the rest of the roster I don't see them being competitive at all. Bret and HE would be instant autoloss. And what is the problem with WE actually having the best archers, especially considering guns are much better IMO.
@@qihaoliu3631 in TT waywatchers were just expensive as Hell so were small in number and basically there to delete war machines and ANY character that was flying solo (oh that was satisfying)

I really don’t know how to use hydras correctly. They seem like dragons that can’t choose engagements as well.
I see hydras as one of the pieces that you have to see what your opponent does in response. I know that sounds like every other none meatshield unit, but you know what I mean

Stanley Leonard Darmali their unit description says that they can charge and then stick in combat. In campaign this is actually works decent as long as they don‘t fight halberds or elite spears, but they are still lackluster in the melee grind part.

Pistoliers and Outriders are based on Hussars and Dragoons, respectively.

Here is something that MIGHT be a neat idea: A "consideration-list" while drafting your army. For example, MY consideration list is NOT good, and it basically goes as follows:
1.) How much AP do I need against the opposing faction?
2.) How much Bonus vs Large do I need against this faction?
3.) Will my Lord need AP?
That's it. I don't really understand when to use certain lores of magic instead of others. (Outside of its AP, so I wouldn't use fire magic against the dwarfs.)
I also don't really understand why Teclis is a MUST HAVE instead of Arielle in certain match-ups.
Or, you could do a video like, "Beware of...." and then break it down faction by faction.
"When fighting/drafting against the HElfs, you have to draft XYZ to prevent them from doing ABC...."
In essence, there is another level of complexity to this game that only certain people grasp, and shedding some light on it might be interesting :D
Thanks for making this. I don't play multi-player so I really enjoy when you make something that can apply to campaign as well.
The video is really fun when you pause before each pick and place your own guess. I got quite a few right, came close on a couple others (usually guess the honorable mentions) and one or two I was not expecting at all. Makes me worried that I watch far too many Turin videos....

I think it would be interesting to see a video describing the units with the largest discrepancy in their quality and how they're used between campaign and multiplayer. This would mostly come down to cheap chaff like peasant mobs or skavenslaves being far more useful in multiplayer, where your main limitation is gold, than campaign, where your main limitation, at least in the mid to late game, is the number of armies you can field before your economy is wrecked. However, maybe there could be some interesting things people didn't expect. Specific legendary lords with red skill trees that completely change the roll of a particular unit, for instance.
Me playing modded campaing when i can recruit any unit from each race: I SHALL BECOME GOD!

I'm not trying to say this ad if videos were bad before because I have always enjoyed them, but has the editing level increased recently with additions of different clubs and showing the tool tips and other such small things? It all looks great
Good shout, great for begginers. Only one I have a gripe about is I think slayers over longbeards in dwarves. I just don't see a match up when you wouldn't bring them.

So glad to see the skink bois got in the list. I was never really fond of Chameleon Skinks until I watched a battle casted by Dahv and oh boy, those Chameleon just sniped and annihilated the trapped Star Dragon in Tempest. It was insane!
I agree with the Vampire Coast the most i love them am play them alot those handgunners set up right have destoryed calvery in a single volley love taking 3 setting them up an let them just rain down fire such a amazing unit

About the Razorgore Herd - if I'm not mistaken, melee def on target counts as 0 if behind or target is fleeing?
So that puny attack of 24 doesn't really matter that much, for the uses they will have. So they will do a lot of damage for their cost too with their AP and attack damge.
I guess they CAN be used to frontal charge infantry too but why would you want that unless you _have_ to.

1. I think Thunderers for the Dwarfs are better. They are extremely versatile, useful in almost every other match-up, have decent melee combat stats, high armor and shields all for the low cost of 700 gold. You don't require longbeards for every other match-up, but thunderers are a safe pick regardless of who you fight (granted, they are better against some factions than others)
2. Taking a pick for the Empire is hard, because they have so many viable options for best unit pick. I'm not sure demis with halberds fit the bill though, given that they are definitely not useful in several match ups for their price point. Sometimes regular demis are better because of their higher attack speed and better base combat stats. Spearmen w/ shields probably deserve a mention because they are so cheap but are an excellent frontline troop. Empire knights are also excellent for their price point.
3. I think best HE unit is the archers. Cheap, useful in every match-up, and can outrange every other archer at the same price point. Star dragons are powerful yes, but you do sort of need to construct your build around the unit because of the price
4. For VP I do think deckhand mobs with halberds are the best. Cheap, AP, anti-large, unbreakable and therefore extremely versatile.
5. Can't say I agree with Norscan berserkers. People have savvied up a bit on these units and I have encountered more and more armored troops playing as Norsca and I have been using armored infantry units against Norsca. Even mid-tier units like GG can handily beat berserkers to a pulp, they are relatively easily counterable. I'd say a better pick are the naked skin wolves. They are fast, regenerate, anti-large, frenzy.
Other than that I agree with your picks
Also going on the strength of the star dragon, it’s powerful attack animations cannot discounted... in my games I think that is a big reason why high elf dragons in general get as much more kills than phoenixes do; their animations are great for killing groups of smaller units.
Aa a filthy lizard main, the Camoskinks are amazing but Temple Guards are the closest we can ever come to a "perfect unit" even against skirms, if they eventually manage to catch em XD

Here's a better way.
Step 1: Pick Malekith on Seraphon and bring Soulstealer.
Step 2: Bring more vicious lizard cavalry than their vicious lizard cavalry.
Step 3: 'Be careful not to choke on your aspirations, Lizardirector.'
We head on over to the realms of the wood elves and.. Mel Gibson. Was not ready for that but I can see the resemblance 😂😂

So after the recent DLC, Skaven are given rat dogs, which are fast warhounds with armor peircing but they compliment Jezzails so damn well, have jezzails put the enemies into a route, then have rat dogs chase.
Your Dark Elf pick kinda surprised me. I thought for sure Chill of Sontar, or greatsword shades. Why not one of them?

Idea I'd like to see: best RoR. Mostly the same cost benefit analysis as went into these units, but also in comparison to their normal counterpart.
i agree that the demigryphs are the best the empire has to offer though i would argue that the humble state troops deserve their due, they can hold the line for a suprisingly long time after all

I was thinking the best unit for the beastmen were the centigors. Both the standard and the throwing axe version are almost always used in builds.
The jezzail way: What does it matter if you suck in melee and have the leadership of a lemming if everything dies long before they can see the insane twinkle in your beady little eyes?

Longbeards are really OP. I played my campaing on Hard difficulty and created my upgrade path of: Dwarf warriors --> Longbeards -->ironbreakers. Even in late campaing, I never saw the necesity to swap longbeards with ironbreakes (Ironbreakes upkeep is way larger than longbeards). I upgraded my artillery and missile but Longbeards got me to the end.
I remember my first Lizard campaign after they introduced blessed units.
Almost finished a long campaign before I realized that Temple Guards are useless compared to Blessed Saurus 😂 At least as Gor'Rok/the way I specced him.
The damage stats per model is just insane for a unit with so many models, and while they may lack SOME ap or attack, they'll outlive Temple Guards easily.
Temple Guards are way cooler though and better early-mid game.
As Sniktch I said bye bye to any form of staying power and just went Triads + chaff. It was not an issue of price, just effectiveness.
Bretonnia, i figured quickly even/as Repanse, no point really with expensive infantry...
With Slaneesh now in 3, I just pam Marauders for ~1/3 of the army at least to begin with. Their "flow" means you need good unit speed, and basically EVERYTHING they have are glass cannons - except them. So, that''s the go-to core infantry, even late game.
I prefer more armies over stupid doomstacks.

You mention that the zombie pirate gunnery mob can fire while engaged in melee. Is this true for the Handgun variant aswell or only the standard pistol variant?
As far as I'm concerned, it's the case of every archer unit. You just have to remember to put them in guard stance.

Great vid! While iconic, I think the longbeards at 700 are no longer a good winning pick in most matchups. They are like worse chaos warriors with immune to psych - which is pretty good! But it doesn’t win games to grind well nor does it really protect your ranged units. Numbers do that and more redundancy. So I’m not sure what dwarf unit should get the crown, but probably something ranged.
B Master miners with blasting charges are up there, IMO. They basically invalidate any lightly armored frontline for extremely cheap, and will trade alright against more armored frontlines in melee. Thunders are also really good, especially when combined with tune of wrath and ruin. Slayers are the final possibility, imo. If the enemy has large units, which you’ll find against everything but in the mirror, or lightly armored harass units like hounds, they’re a necessity as both a source of anti large and the only cost effective thing that will kill stuff quickly in melee.
Good points. Lots of good options but the dwarf warrior is underappreciated mainstay. I would probably say the dwarf cannon though of course sometimes you don’t bring them.
