    Hi all, I wanted to provide you with an update. I plan on posting footage soon with it on the water. Also, unfortunately I ended up selling the Kayak because I have upgraded to a Santee 160CC skiff and I wasn’t able to keep both. It is currently being built as we speak. I wanted something a little larger that I could take both my dogs and wife out on. I will post a video once the skiff comes in for those who are interested as well. It being fully decked out and modified. I appreciate all the support and comments on this video and hope that this video was able to provide you all with some insight or ideas to modify your kayaks. Thanks again!

    Awsome vessel Bro. I bought my 1st Kayak. Finally off the bank. I bought a vibe sea ghost 110. Love it. I bought a feel free side transom mount, for my new 2.5 Suzuki outboard and the Yak Gear outriggers. I fish about 980 acres of water. I have a heart condition, and weigh about 152lbs, so she moves. I love all our different setups. Actually installing a fishfinder and usb charger panel, since it's winter. Be safe..

    Well your video made me get the island hopper set up. For the lakes of the Ozarks and lake ten killer :) my question is this. My bump stop hits nothing and the feel free tracks seem just a bit short for clearance of the motor to raise n lower without bumping the keel. Did you have this problem as well. And how did you solve. I love the set up. Just doesn't seem to be as solid of a mount as I want. Please can you send a close up Pic of the mounting set up on yours to make sure I am not missing something. 55 yo man with a heavy mechanic background. Just kinda has me puzzled. Ty

    Awesome bro. Kind jealous I didn't see that Island hopper before. My 3 waters big fish 105 upgrade is almost ready. At this stage I will be putting my 30lb motor through the removable sonar pod hole (Just fits) and steering with my beaver tail rudder mainly. Battery is behind my seat for balance. All I need now is my fish finder and go-pro will post/upload set up when finished. Hey what brand was that doggie lifejacket?

    That is an awesome setup you have there. I am going to look into that Anchor Wizard setup as we have breezy Apr/May months here. I have a question on the Feel Free Unibar you have mounted. I just purchased the same item, but I noticed it has some sway from left to right. I know it's not meant as a hand rail but I feel it should be sturdier than it is..... your thoughts ?? I used to launch my yak off a C-Tug cart but old age has set in and now I trailer mine. Got in to a new trailer for approx $600 new so if you ever inclined to do that I can give you some pointers. Great video.... Thanks........

    • @Fish-Camp-Dogs

      The rail was nice, but also didn’t seem super stable. I mostly used it as a table and it didn’t get in the way too much. I no longer own the Kayak ;)

    I am looking for an update on the Island Hopper Motor you installed. I am about to pull the trigger on the same 55lb Thrust and was wondering what your maximum speed was and how much aH it uses and at what speeds you ran it at. I was going to go with a 12v 60aH battery that Island Hopper supplies

    • @Fish-Camp-Dogs
      @Fish-Camp-Dogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I no longer own the kayak, as I bought a boat. The 55lb thrust from what I recall maxed out around 5-6mph with it rigged the way it is in the video.
      I wouldn’t recommend going against a River current because it wasn’t powerful enough to get back to my starting point, which prompted my need for an outboard.
      Calm waters, it’s perfect for and will move around well. Strong currents, not so much. Hope that helps :)

    • @Fish-Camp-Dogs
      @Fish-Camp-Dogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, there was a lot of rain and the river was higher than normal. If you were using it on calming waters, like a lake or that flats in-shore, I think you will be very happy with it. I was pushing around 5mph without a current.

  • @darthsup7379
    @darthsup7379 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice setup but I'm curious on how low your yak sits in the water with that much additional weight added to it? I also have a Lure 11.5 with not anywhere near the amount of stuff that you have on your setup and only weigh about 160lbs and my yak sits in the water right around the bottom to middle part of the built in side handles, which IMHO the kayak is not really designed to ride safely sitting that low in the water. I've taken in water on several occasions from the wake of passing boats to where the rear tank well took in at least one to two inches of water. Not being able to get to the scupper plugs because they are located right under where my crate sits in the tank well was reason enough for me to discontinue using plugs back there.

    • @Fish-Camp-Dogs
      @Fish-Camp-Dogs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It floated fine. Draft line wasn’t much different than unloaded to be honest. It was too heavy for what I wanted though and upgraded to the Skiff once my wife green lit it. If I build out another kayak, I’ll be going way lighter next time ;)
