Hello, thanks for visiting the channel. This channel was made to raise mental health awareness and highlight the importance of self care when working in the field of mental health. I'll provide you with a little bit of background information regarding both myself and two dogs. I am an Iraq war veteran that served in the Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom III and V. Currently, I work full time as a therapist providing services for both mental health and addiction. I'm also a full time social work doctoral student at USC and an OSU Alumni. My wife and I rescued our dogs in 2012 and they have been a huge part of my recovery as I have assimilated back into civilian life, post war. For the past 8 years, my Jack Russell has been my companion and we have worked together in both our recovery process from our own traumas. Now, as we have gotten older and lazier, we have decided to continue our journey on the water, fishing from our skiff. Enjoy!

This is walkthrough video of my Feelfree Lure 11.5 V2 kayak with an Island Hopper 55 lb. trust trolling motor. Please feel free to comment with any question's you have in regards to the video. Thanks for watching! Great video. That’s a sharp rig you have there
That's was awesome bro. Tight lines
Bro I love that set up.looking to buy a 13,5
Most American kayak I've seen. Surprised it doesn't have a microwave oven installed.
Nice rig bud.
looks like a gheenoe
Does the motor mount that’s attached to the gear tracks hold up with that heavy motor?
Dude this looks like an awesome rig. What did it cost for this complete rig? I will have to give up my kayak someday.
Nice setup. No mention about prices whatsoever which seems to mean you have more $ than your average fisher!!! Good for you. You forgot to mention your $500 carbon fiber paddle!!! You probably still have enough to get more ink on any blank spaces on your arms and neck!! But since you'll be getting evaluated by your superiors while your doing your internship you probably want to skip those face tats!!! I know I'd skip the facial art works!!! After fishing for over 65 years, i've learned those fish don't give a damn about all that fancy ass gear you have, your cute little tattoos, how much you make, or how cute your girl or boy friend is!? The gear, the cars, the house, the money doesn't make one bit of difference to those fish you probably catch for bragging rights only!!! I'm glad i don't know your personally. Have a nice day!!! Cool little dog!!!
Just saw this , I Have same for 7yrs. I use spot lock on troll motor for front and reg bottom anchor on back and can stay fairly still in any depth of water, if that not secure enough I do drop anchor on front and back. On shade I use reg shade like for pontoon boat .
First time kayaking. Great experience. At 69 I found it to be just want I wanted to take out on the Intercoastal Waterway.
Last comment here bro show off a kayak u did work to. Not some1 elses hard work we dont care what u bought
Sun screen for a dag too. Omg you're a lame
A kid with a bad back lmao
buen video saludos de chile
The anchor wizard works fine without having a fixed retrieval point or an additional type of pulley before the lock lever? I feel one you put your anchor towards the front it would rub it pretty good
Nice set up I'm looking to get one
Sick setup. Any idea of the total cost for such a rig? And how do you transport the kayak?
Lol love the PT belt!
Do you steer your motor with your feet?
Voltometer lol nice set up though bro
Square stern canoes are sweet
Nice yack setup! 👍🏼 The seat cushion is that a combo purchase or top and bottom parts are separate? Thanks for sharing
Well your video made me get the island hopper set up. For the lakes of the Ozarks and lake ten killer :) my question is this. My bump stop hits nothing and the feel free tracks seem just a bit short for clearance of the motor to raise n lower without bumping the keel. Did you have this problem as well. And how did you solve. I love the set up. Just doesn't seem to be as solid of a mount as I want. Please can you send a close up Pic of the mounting set up on yours to make sure I am not missing something. 55 yo man with a heavy mechanic background. Just kinda has me puzzled. Ty
Very nice. I have been looking at this yak because of that seat. I have yet to see another yak that has a nicer seat set up. If that was set on a swivel I think it might be even better but that might be overkill.
Dogs cant get sun burn!
The dog is so cute.
Love the pup!
O-H...
Looking for my 1st yak. Toss up between this exact one or a nucanoe unlimited. Your dog appears to like this one 🙂
Me gusto
Sweet set up
Great vid mate. And you come across as a normal bloke helping the rest of us out. Say hi to your dogs from Alfie and Lizzie (my dogs Down Under).
Nice skiff, been thinking of a smaller skiff for easier solo trips myself. You should bring that thing to Louisiana, lots of good fishing here and sightfishing too! Good Luck
Great setup!
What cart did you purchase?
I am looking for an update on the Island Hopper Motor you installed. I am about to pull the trigger on the same 55lb Thrust and was wondering what your maximum speed was and how much aH it uses and at what speeds you ran it at. I was going to go with a 12v 60aH battery that Island Hopper supplies
I no longer own the kayak, as I bought a boat. The 55lb thrust from what I recall maxed out around 5-6mph with it rigged the way it is in the video. I wouldn’t recommend going against a River current because it wasn’t powerful enough to get back to my starting point, which prompted my need for an outboard. Calm waters, it’s perfect for and will move around well. Strong currents, not so much. Hope that helps :)
what was price new?
Your trolling motor mounting
Great vídeo! Like to see the Kayak FeellFree running on water with that ele motor.. All the best!
What kayak cart did you go with to fit the feel free?
Are you still using this kayak. How do you like it after a year of use
What does a setup like this COST?
Thanks for the helpful video
I freaking love this setup and I bet it was still cheaper than a pedal kayak!! I might use some of your ideas but I’ll definitely shout you out 😉
Great set up and demo of your fishing machine! Amazing accessories! Enjoy this kayak and thank you for your service! Best of luck in you academic journey. I am also an Iraq combat veteran!
Thanks man, that’s awesome. I was with 1AD during OIFIII and 3ID during the SURGE OIFV. Thanks for your service as well :)
I have mad respect for all of you guys that served. Thanks for your service. Very organized kayak, you did a good job with The build.
I know you sold your kayak, but how well did your anchor system work? I have an anchor wizard and a V1 feelfree lure and am trying to figure out what setup to go with.
The anchor system worked great. That was definitely worth the money IMO and would recommend it for any Kayak for sure. Make sure to get the Mount adapter :)
What keeps your trolling motor from kicking up in reverse?! Shouldn't it have a locking system to prevent that?
Nice setup but I'm curious on how low your yak sits in the water with that much additional weight added to it? I also have a Lure 11.5 with not anywhere near the amount of stuff that you have on your setup and only weigh about 160lbs and my yak sits in the water right around the bottom to middle part of the built in side handles, which IMHO the kayak is not really designed to ride safely sitting that low in the water. I've taken in water on several occasions from the wake of passing boats to where the rear tank well took in at least one to two inches of water. Not being able to get to the scupper plugs because they are located right under where my crate sits in the tank well was reason enough for me to discontinue using plugs back there.
It floated fine. Draft line wasn’t much different than unloaded to be honest. It was too heavy for what I wanted though and upgraded to the Skiff once my wife green lit it. If I build out another kayak, I’ll be going way lighter next time ;)
Way mucho stuff but its yours and I bet fun!
