I've viewed countless videos of this bike and yet none of them gave a sense of what it's like to ride as much as your onboard footage did. Great stuff!
My insurance hates fairings. It’s especially apparant in used bikes because the premiums are still stupid on bikes that are 10+ years old. I guess their logic is something like: fairings = sportsbike = bad. I’ve recently been looking at a 2015 KTM Super Duke 1290. At almost 34 years of age I can insure that for about 75% of what I would have to pay for a Yamaha R6 of similar vintage. Even a VFR 800 is more expensive to insure than the KTM. Absolute madness.
I see the comments about the lack of a rear seat while having pillion pegs. Theres a key tumbler on the left side of the rear subframe that takes your ignition/tank key. A simple twist and it unlocks the rear cowl, and the RS when purchased comes with both the rear seat and cowl and you can swap between them in your garage with about two seconds of effort. A simple push at the front edge of the cowl or seat and it clicks back into the locked position.
For someone who usually rides bikes of a completely different nature, I have to say, well done for showing you're willing to expand your, 'riding horizons'. 👍
Always thought the Street Triple looked horrible until i saw one at the delaers and went for a test ride. Holy shit that bike is just glorious. And it looks far better in person and screams quality! Went from not interested to calculating finances in 5 minutes :D

Ive been waiting for this video because i own a silver RS, and i love watching people ride one for the first time! Especially for you, as I noticed your love for the Triumph modern classics. It really is a firecracker, such a great balance of incredible power, great handling, and relatively comfortable riding position.

Nice review but the only thing I would say is about the seat I’am 65 I have owned mine for 18 months and I find the seat very comfortable 400 mile days no problem I only really use my bike for long trips
I've been doing a direct access course, and have been learning to ride on several bikes in the school's fleet, but did my Mod 1 on this bike, and have spent the most time on it, and I love it. Your videos are great by the way - just very impressionistic and helpful.

After riding your typical genre of bikes this would of course be surprised with this gem. These types of bikes feel much more precise and agile. When I return to “retro” bikes I feel that they are slow to react. I had a m2018 Honda CB1000R “neo-retro.” It was quick and buzzy. That is an inline 4. The buzziness was drove me nuts and it needed a seventh gear! I find this type better in tight city traffic as the response is accurate and immediate. My new Guzzi feels slow to respond (because of what it is). This sometimes gets me into trouble. It takes more skill to overcome the bucking and lag in response while navigating traffic in the inner city. This model of Triumph is well-liked. It does look quite aggressive!
Love the weight of the speed triple in the corners. I like a bike to feel substantial, and the Speed feels perfect for me, much better than the Street.
Im just over 6ft 2 and find mine really comfy. I've also got a cosmic yellow model and covered 2k miles last year and 2 track days. I really love it and agree with what you say. It's a little firm for the back roads, but you can back the suspension off to the comfort setting if you prefer to do so. I've done exactly what you had suggested, I fitted spark headers and an akrapovic end can on mine and it sings! I fitted a rapidbike evo tuning module too and had it custom tuned by those nice folks at Torque Tune Dyno and what a difference! It's quite the lively animal now (wasn't exactly bad before!).. But now at 130bhp at the rear wheel, its got that extra added attitude. I think it's Triumphs comfy version of a GSXR 750 (I've had several of those over the years). Find the bike pretty versatile and would cover commuting and touring too if you wanted to, although it's wasted on a commute. You'd certainly arrive with a smile on your face though, which is what this bike is all about, so much fun to ride and appeals / caters to a wide audience of riders and their skill sets. 👍😎
I rode one of these last summer at mid ohio. What an excellent machine. I rode the “R” and the 120 hp is all there, believe me. The power curve is perfect. 3 cylinders is the best all around. The shifter was perfect, the braking was outstanding. I like the riding position with the handlebars. Its basically the fastest machine i’ve ridden that is still comfortable enough to ride daily. And if i bought one, id be sure to get a lot of looks and questions!
Ive had a few 600 supersports and a fireblade in my past, my bike at the moment is an fz1 and wanted something different, test rode one of these and instantly ordered one. It will be blasting round Yorkshire etc from march 😁😁
I had a 675 version and it’s a total hooligan bike, tons of fun but a bit of license loser if you get carried away, which is easy to do. UK insurance makes no sense at all! I’m a Brit but live in Austria and they grade bikes by BHP not cc’s, which makes total sense. Number plates are issued by the insurance company and I can use my plate for up to three bikes, simply swap it over. Insurance can be ‘paused’ over the winter season, hand plate back in and pick it up again when the snow and ice have gone! Cost is based on the most powerful bike in your stable… makes much more sense! Good down to earth review, thanks!
Really good video Darcy. I’ve had mine for a month now and you touched on pretty much everything. I’m only 5’9” and have done some long runs on it and never get uncomfortable. My last bike was a Z900 which was amazing but the 765rs is just so good in every aspect
I'm 5'9 and heavy set. I can ride my 2022 for about 4 hours+ at a time on Australian county twisties no problem. The benefit of the 2022 is that it has a larger tank so 300 km or 180 miles plus is possible.
Not sure if anyone has said so in the comments but the bike does come with a pillion seat included in the price and its a simple snap on replacement for the rear seat cowl fitted. This is my 3rd Street triple and I absolutely love it, especially in the cosmic yellow. I added to optional front screen to mine, and it makes the bike even more beautiful imo.
Well, that yellow is quite nice - and it is kind of beautiful maybe, at least in the eyes of a wasp... I like to use the quickshifter in my bike at calm commuting too because I'm so utterly lazy. Anyhow, the main feature of this bike is in my opinion the weight. Advertised wet weight 188 kg! It is a light-weight bike! Great thing to have!
I’m 5’8” and fit the bike well. I’m on the balls of my feet at a standstill. (30” inseam). I know you were complaining about the stiff ride, however it does have adjustable settings to make the back road rides easier to live with on its softer settings. It’s a bit unfair to compare this bike to a cruiser, since they have different goals. One can also complain that low seat riding cruisers will damage your spine on a bumpy back road. I personally love the howling intake and triple cylinder sound. The performance is also great considering the price point. If the bike has shortcomings, it’s the typical complaints of any “naked” bike… no wind protection and worse in rainy weather…. But that also means it’s solid fun when the weather is nice. 🌞😎👍

I love these. I own a Street Triple 660 S and I'm planning to buy one come 2025 when my license allows it (I'm 27 but still under Australia LAMS) I'm thinking the R not the RS but there are additional things on the RS which make it well worth it. Things like the TRT Dash, Bar Ends, Belly Pan and Ohlins rear shock very well makes up for the change in pricing. However I have a few parts on my ST 66S which I'd carry over to an R when the time comes. I'd have to figure out what can be done for the exhaust and what's available as the mounting is different for the newer models.
I bought one recently 2024 model 765 rs Red, it comes with the pillion seat and this was a upgrade over my CBT benelli leonchino 125, yes i went mental mode and got a fast bike for the first Cat A bike, also im only 5ft 4 and i love it lol
Well done Darcy. Very well presented. I think it hilarious that insurance allows you to ride this crazy machine but not a T120. But what an exciting bike. I can tell you're not quite use to how these pull away - I had to laugh when you did the pull away shot. You revved the bike nicely but pulled away as if you were riding a Bullet 350 and then accelerated. Next time pull away with a bit of gas, but make sure you keep your weight forward. You guys have a great format that works for all types of bikes 👍
I bought the slightly faster and prettier Carnival Red version last Fall.😊 It comes with the rear seat and the rear cowl. To each his own, but I think the exhaust looks fantastic. Much better than a chunky aftermarket one. At 5'8" I flatfoot easily. I swapped tires out this Spring as our New England roads and weather aren't a great match for the track tires it comes with. I also use the comfort sertings on the suspension, plus went one turn out of the rear Ohlins(oddly labeled non-adjustble in manual). It rides FANTASTIC. Plenty of low-down grunt and really screams from about 8K on. Approaching mile 5,000 of sheer joy on the road.
I traded a T120 for this exact bike (same color, too). The Street Triple is incredible and handles like a dream. The only complaint I ever had about my T120 was the weight and the “adequate but not great” suspension. I honestly would rather have one of the mid-2000’s Bonnevilles with the 865 engine and carburetors.
Lovely machine, especially in the yellow. Glad to see Triumph have done away with the bug eyed headlights from older versions. I'm maybe a bit long in the tooth for this bike but it would be perfect for some of the roads here in southern Spain.
Thanks, Darcy. This was an excellent review. I love the look of the bike and have considered one. I'm 6'2" and I'm curious how leaned forward you were on the bike and how that felt on your wrists and hands?
Agree about the fork legs, conventional forks just look better than upside down, but at least these are in a nice, discreet colour. Which makes me wonder why Triumph give so many of their more classic styled bikes those tacky golden forklegs. Something to rethink, Triumph.
Awesome bike , great fun and very fast but I think that the uk doesn’t have the type of roads you really need to enjoy it fully . Also fast easy to ride bikes encouraged us to go fast ( not good for your health ) great enjoyable videos 👍👍
Nice to see a review on this bike from someone who doesn’t normally ride this style of bike. I ride a modern classic but I am tempted I must admit. The Daytona looks like it is going to be a bit more of a compromise with a fairing and fly screen and less brutish engine. You should review one of those or a Trident.
We did review a Trident a while ago, not sure if you have seen that. Here is the link 👍🏼 Triumph Trident 660 Review. th-cam.com/video/bDxuagKWyAE/w-d-xo.html
I laughed out loud when you said you were expecting a T120 and got this. Its like expecting a Golden Retreiver and getting a Rottweiler. One thing I do like about motorcycle insurance in Canada is it is not based on engine size but more motorcycle type. They've figured out that 600 cc supersport bikes and the kind of people that ride them are way more likely to get into an accident than Triumph Bonneville and Moto Guzzi riders who generally just want to putt along at the speed limit).
it's hilarious how clueless insurance companies are when it comes to cc's vs hp's and the combination of the 2. That 765 would walk away from a T120 but if you don't understand hp, gearing and rev limits then you'd never have a clue.

What a beautiful motorcycle! Thanks for doing the review. Mr. Darcy: out of curiosity; which area of England is location recorded around 13:39 - it looks like a nice road to go for a cruise. P.S. I think that I noticed a road sign for a speeding camera around 13:39 🙈
Thank you! It’s the road between Uppingham and Oakham in Rutland. Don’t worry there’s no actual speed cameras on that road but occasionally you do get a police camera van on the hill!
I owned a 675r for 7 years. I’ve only rode a 765 gen 1 once they moved the game on more. The Triple still my favourite engine . Now own a 2015 Daytona for track and local riding. Have to admit the Daytona is not as good road bike as it is track . I think the 765RS would be good at both . I Would have to sell my super duke before the Daytona. As riding on the road in the uk is horrible now .
Thanks for the review- I've always been on ADV bikes, but I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these to balance the garage. From what I'm seeing, this seems to be a great performance value, and yet it doesn't look like the typical sport bike that wild youths would go for. Odd Question: What kind of trousers are you wearing in the video? Have been looking for something like that but can't place them... Keep the videos coming.
Thank you 😊 Here is a link to the trousers they are made by Fuel: fuelmotorcycles.eu/products/marshal-pants Also we recently did a Fuel video showing the clothes that they do which is worth a watch 👍🏼
Hope to see you or the old man's opinions on the kawasaki 900RS as it bridges both elements of modern & clasic look but slightly brutal i have been told. I also would love to hear what you would make of the W800.
@@Borntobemild2625 looks, yes, it looks plenty like that famous Z1/Z900. However, it's quite easy, almost surprisingly forgiving to ride. Supposed it feels to aggressive, put it in rainmode for a while.
I've had my RS since the end of March (also in cosmic yellow), it's my third consecutive RS and by far the best, in both performance and handling, I know it's subjective but I couldn't disagree more with you re the exhaust and for anyone wanting to change the exhaust a slip on end can isn't an option it's a complete change from the headers back or nothing, I love the bike but have one small gripe, I don't like the TFT, Triumph's TFTs on the street triple started with the 2017 765 which was good the 2020 model not so good and the 2023 by far the worst with a much too cluttered look and the font too small but it's a minor gripe on a great bike.
I'm sure it's great if you can have several bikes, but not very practical as your only bike. The super bike / sports bike era has probably had it's day for the aging British motorcyclist. I had a CBR 600, 20 plus years ago and it was great fun. These sort of bikes are too fast for our rubbish roads but would be great fun on a track day. I'm sure it will be successful for Triumph but not as successful as their modern retro's as I think it is a smaller market, hence most of the big manufactures have moved away from this type of motorcycle although it does seem to be making a small comeback especially in the small capacity area 400-700 cc, I guess that's for the folks that can afford several motorcycles and fancy a lightweight sports bike. Not for me but great to see you looking at different Motorcycle sectors.
I've viewed countless videos of this bike and yet none of them gave a sense of what it's like to ride as much as your onboard footage did. Great stuff!
Great video. So insurance won’t cover an 80 hp T120 but will cover 128 hp Street Triple, yeah that makes perfect sense. 🤔

Beatiful bike! I tested it few years back - was great, but seemed too small for me and I am just 183cm. Otherwise pure joy.
I'm 6'5" (with quite long legs vs upper body) and I'm surprisingly comfortable on this bike.
Same, but I'm on a 675 that's got a lowering kit fitted 😂
And I'm 22 stone 😬
A very nice bike. I prefer my speed triple 1050 RS. prefer the torquey grunt. Love the yellow too.👍🏻
I instantly want a "I'm no Dunlop" bumper sticker
Well done Darcy. Very well presented. I think it hilarious that insurance allows you to ride this crazy machine but not a T120. But what an exciting bike. I can tell you're not quite use to how these pull away - I had to laugh when you did the pull away shot. You revved the bike nicely but pulled away as if you were riding a Bullet 350 and then accelerated. Next time pull away with a bit of gas, but make sure you keep your weight forward. You guys have a great format that works for all types of bikes 👍
I bought the slightly faster and prettier Carnival Red version last Fall.😊
It comes with the rear seat and the rear cowl.
Gary Johnson and Peter Hickman have both won the IOM supersport class on the 675 version of this ripper
Awesome review as usually, Darcy 👌
Lovely machine, especially in the yellow. Glad to see Triumph have done away with the bug eyed headlights from older versions. I'm maybe a bit long in the tooth for this bike but it would be perfect for some of the roads here in southern Spain.
That bike is flat amazing, and the best naked sport bike for anything less than MV Agusta money.
Thanks, Darcy. This was an excellent review. I love the look of the bike and have considered one. I'm 6'2" and I'm curious how leaned forward you were on the bike and how that felt on your wrists and hands?
Did you watch all the video? I did say about that in the video 👍🏼
Thanks, @@MrDarcy-OlMan. I must've missed it.
Good video, nice to see you do something more sporty!
My fav bike. Hopfully ill be getting an RS in 2024 new
No faring! The wind has got to be bad.
I prefer the look of cruisers and classic bikes but for this type of type it is not too bad looking if you like that style!
Agree about the fork legs, conventional forks just look better than upside down, but at least these are in a nice, discreet colour. Which makes me wonder why Triumph give so many of their more classic styled bikes those tacky golden forklegs. Something to rethink, Triumph.
That bike actually suits you very well
My two bike garage would be one of these and a chilled out speedmaster, all bases covered😊
Here is the link 👍🏼

@@MrDarcy-OlMan Thanks I will take a look
What a crazy situation with insurance it's like comparing a sports car with a normal one and they let you ride the sports car and not the normal one
Nice one , Mr Darcy 👍 Good gravy !... the bike sounds like a wailing banshee 🤣
Another great video indeed. It looks like bumblebee from transformers for me. 😊
Yellow rocks 😎🍻
this is perfect if it had Cruise control, I'm torn between this or XSR900
Beautiful machine but try an MT09 if you have a chance though, the engine pulls even harder.
💯
Good stuff. Love the red, but I was surprised how much the yellow pops in the right light. Cheers to triumph for fun colors. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
Think I will just keep my 1985 Gsxr750 instead.
Your point?
Seems like a great scratcher but can’t imagine doing any great distance in relaxed comfort.
it's hilarious how clueless insurance companies are when it comes to cc's vs hp's and the combination of the 2. That 765 would walk away from a T120 but if you don't understand hp, gearing and rev limits then you'd never have a clue.
That noise !!😮
where did you get those trousers
They are a range of clothes that myself and the Ol Man love wearing. They are called Fuel check out our other video about the Fuel clothing:

I used to dislike the looks of the Spped/Street triples. I have come around to liking them.
Best bike on sale today imho
I owned a 675r for 7 years. I’ve only rode a 765 gen 1 once they moved the game on more. The Triple still my favourite engine . Now own a 2015 Daytona for track and local riding. Have to admit the Daytona is not as good road bike as it is track . I think the 765RS would be good at both . I Would have to sell my super duke before the Daytona. As riding on the road in the uk is horrible now .
"Somewhere where the roads are lovely and smooth"..... Germany, maybe. Or Portugal? Certainly not the UK!
German roads are degrading in a rapid pace, though.
Thanks for the review-
I've always been on ADV bikes, but I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these to balance the garage. From what I'm seeing, this seems to be a great performance value, and yet it doesn't look like the typical sport bike that wild youths would go for.
Odd Question:
What kind of trousers are you wearing in the video? Have been looking for something like that but can't place them...
Keep the videos coming.
Thank you 😊
Here is a link to the trousers they are made by Fuel:
fuelmotorcycles.eu/products/marshal-pants
Also we recently did a Fuel video showing the
clothes that they do which is worth a watch 👍🏼
Question for you, what do you think about a Tiger 765? Same Hp and Tq.
I think it would be the one to get.
I luv my 2024 STR 765 RS!
Great review dude.. look forward to more Moto Guzzi vids 😊 ❤ Pete
Hope to see you or the old man's opinions on the kawasaki 900RS as it bridges both elements of modern & clasic look but slightly brutal i have been told. I also would love to hear what you would make of the W800.
We are looking to review a Kawasaki 900RS but unfortunately the W800 is not available in the UK anymore 👍🏼
"brutal"?
In looks, or power?
@@kwakithailand
Both, for aggression and its looks taken from the 70s Z1
@@Borntobemild2625 looks, yes, it looks plenty like that famous Z1/Z900.
However, it's quite easy, almost surprisingly forgiving to ride.
Supposed it feels to aggressive, put it in rainmode for a while.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan what about the z650rs?
the suspension is fully adjustable, i'd get it adjusted for the crappy roads to be honest
Great looking bike
Dear Darcy Nice review Triumph triple RS 765🎉
Thank you 😀
Sorry for the typos with auto-correct! Very small on my phone!
No worries, didn’t even notice! Great points made
it looks like a bee
Really have crazy laws on your side of the world
A comparison video on the rs and the r for a young rider as the rs is suppose to be more track oriented then the road going r 😊
How tall are you???
I did say in the video, make sure you watch it till the end 👍🏼
Don’t apologise for not getting your knee down. There are too many of them who become an accident statistic.
can u get rid of the passangers pegs?
This is truly the most beautiful bike and it does look like a hornet, cheers Mr. Darcy
I ride my street triple 765r every day, it's brilliant as an all round bike
I’ve got friends who do big Euro tours on them, so they must be comfy…
