It does not have the second o2 sensor aft of the converter. The converter is notched in the place were the second o2 sensor is installed for some other countries, but it's not drilled out to accept the sensor.
I rode my '22 R to a local Triumph dealer for a factory ride event where i was able to take out a '24 RS. Now, I may not have all of the Yamfather's "experience," but the ONLY difference i could feel during the fifteen minute canyon loop they had us on was due to the small changes in ride feel due to the extra 10mm of seat height. Still, my '22 R has that sexy analog tachometer with those unique blue shift lights and was under $8.5k new out the door in 2023. No FOMO at all really.
The R and the RS have the exact same engine, but the R throttle map doesn’t go to 100% at high RPM, artificially creating the 10hp difference. You could get it “tuned” (changing the throttle map is not really a tune) to get that last bit of power above like 9000rpm or so.
Funny that you mentioned the timing chain rattle at start up. I was using 300V for when i went to the track and afterward every cold start if it sat for like more than 3 days, it would give me an alarming noise from the top end which scared me. I recently changed to Motul 7100 and the noise hasn't returned.
Difference in power between the R and RS is mostly if not all just the virtual throttle table in the ecu, aka the table in the ecu that maps your wrist movement to the opening of the throttle valves in the throttle bodies. Since ride by wire it can be done this way. You think you open the gas a 100% on the R but it's actually opened 80% max. And the RS opens to 100%. Most ride modes are created the same way, rain mode for example opens way more slowly than sport.
Not mentioned in the differences - the RS rear shock is also 10mm higher than the base R model, giving it more rake and flickability. Feels oh so good.
There R its cheaper, not better. You save a few bucks, get less power and lesser kit with it. People think Ohlins means track, and they think that means harsh... You can set the Ohlins and BPF up soft... It's a more compliant ride. Compliance means stable and that means confidence.

The Sport mode on the R is just more restrictive than Sport mode on the RS model is. That's it. You can easily undo that with an ECU flash, just by copying the RS table from ETV3 to the R map. @@wernerxldata That's always one of the first things I do. Remove any top end restrictions, make Sport linear, restore any ignition timing they pulled up top where the ETV table restrictions were, tweak the AFR Targets tables to 13.2, and then I might add a little fuel around idle and the low throttle cruising range where it's typically lean. If we out a pipe on it, then its on the dyno for a proper tune.
Test road the RS and really liked it allot. the brakes were maybe the best I've ever experienced before. but I wish the bike had a full fairing without changing the ergonomics. I haven't ever test road the Street 1200 triple. and I am wondering if its just as good but with more power. I also wonder if you were spending your own money with the intention of keeping the bike. would you buy this 765 Rs or the MT09 SP ? because I have never ridden them back to back. I like the power of the Mt09 but feel like the 765 Rs is a more composed handling bike. but I would like to ride them back to back to really compare. It was maybe 3 years ago I test road the Mt09. and I didn't like how the front wheel didn't ever feel planted enough for my taste. I like a bike with a front end that feels planted to the ground. and even the XSR 900 with the longer swing arm didn't feel planted enough for me in the front end. but I haven't test road the newest Mt09.
Analog gauges are one of the main reasons I chose the bike I'm on. Now they went and changed it to an LCD screen on the '25. The Speed Twin WAS, the perfect balance of tech, style and performance. In an affordable package. The last of the '24 models are the closest you can get to a perfectly designed Bonneville. Now they've changed the whole look of the bike, with weird angular side covers and headlight assembly. The fuel tank? Just butt ugly, with dimples in the front corners for fork tube clearance. Spindly wheels and bright colors give the '25 a totally different astetic. Why would you wanna make a Bonneville Twin look like a sport bike? Too many bikes look the same now. They downgraded the brakes drastically on the base model. Yet changed the fork tubes to that gaudy yellow they insist on using. If you want one with the same features the '24 had. Your pushing $17k. That's the same price the Thruxton used to be. Shrinkflation bigtime. Peace!
the street triple is alot of bike for the money. Got a 17 tuono v4 and sure it got alot more power but feels clumpsy and "too much" compared to the triple when it comes to twisties and tracks
Before you buy any bike take a good look at the engine and ask yourself, if I had to take out the carb on this bike and clean it, or replace the timing chain, could I do it myself? If the answer is no, you don't want the bike. I look at this bike with everything smashed in there like sardines in a can... and I'm like... no... and no. Just some advice from someone riding for 20 years. You will have to work on your own bike. Count on it. A non-running brick taking up space in your headache is no longer a joy, it's one big groan to look forward to trying to repair in the future. If it isn't easy to work on, it doesn't matter how fast it goes fresh off the factory floor.
Are you able to tune the Street Triple RS? I’m planning to change a full system exhaust and bring it to the dyno. I heard that the RS is electronically limited and you’re unable to remove the limiter
18:50 I have to disagree 100% I love the display, and I have mine setup to show me exactly what I need to see and I never have to touch it. I have it set to style 2 with fuel range at the top. Everything is extremely clear, and the tach is easier to read at a glance than a traditional one.
I hate the dash. 4 months on mine and I still do not like the dash. I do not like this winglet progressive tachometer, in the end I use style 2 with digital tachometer cause I can’t read the graphic one in a glance
@@pb_86 Why are you trying to read the tach? You should be feeling and listening to your bike to know when to shift. The graphic is perfect as a shift light. You set your shift points and it goes red at the point you set, which can be seen even if you aren’t looking directly at it

Jesus, not the R vs RS debate AGAIN! If you're honest with yourself and your never going to go to the track? The R is a great, fast street bike. And if you accidentally find yourself at the track in the R? You'll probably STILL somehow manage to have fun. But, if you want the RS? Buy it i guess.
Can someone please tell me how the lap timer works without having to manually press it every lap?? I’ve been trying to figure it out for a year now but can’t get the auto distance function to work 😅
New MT09 and MT10 are absolutely hideous IMO. Awesome bikes, but I just don't think I could look at them all day. XSR900 over those all day for looks alone.
The front is too ugly and I bet it’s not very reliable. Also I agree about that dash, that rev gauge looks terrible. BMW is still the gold standard for dashboards on motorcycles. KTM is Silver and then maybe CFMoto Bronze?
I hate the dash, total downgrade from the r. I don’t ride the bike that hard so I would probably never notice the difference between r and rs. But I have to get this yellow, this color alone makes it worth the money for me.
you watched an anonymous AI generated video. there’s a small design fault (press fitting on gear selector) which can snap if you stamp on the gear lever. The rest of the video was complete BS.
Those first gen round headlamps would have been looking so much better on this bike than this mantis-style lights. Just needed to replace the old style incandescent bulbs to led and called it a day
@Napoleon_Blownapart agreed, why does everything have to turn into some transformer or look like a running shoe. It's not a sports bike really. I think the Kawasaki Z900RS is a great example of a new modern looking bike.
@simonmillard8337 Yup. The z900rs hit the spot for me aesthetically. But unfortunately, it has some problems that makes it best to wait for a revised version. I rented a brand new z900rs to try it out, rear brake was squealing alot, it would constantly stall unless you really twist it in first gear, some false neutrals and sometimes first gear was impossible to engage unless i roll the bike a bit before, making red light stops awkward.
I have the 765r in the grey but wish I waited and got the orange 🍊 one
Thanks for sharing
Peace!
Fantastic engine.
I want one in a faired bike.
the street triple is alot of bike for the money. Got a 17 tuono v4 and sure it got alot more power but feels clumpsy and "too much" compared to the triple when it comes to twisties and tracks
I used to have a 2017 RS. It is 100% worth the price
Shout out from London
Full system! Unleash the British ponies!
Please talk about vibration on the right hand side of handlebar while riding at 70km/hr on 3/4th gear.
My dream bike...gonna buy it in next 7 years, I am only 18
I love my (this) bike...
Are you able to tune the Street Triple RS? I’m planning to change a full system exhaust and bring it to the dyno. I heard that the RS is electronically limited and you’re unable to remove the limiter
You can play a bit with the triumph ecu using tuneecu and an OBD bluetooth adapter. Not sure about the limiter tho
That display was designed by a Tempest fan.
18:50
I have to disagree 100%
I love the display, and I have mine setup to show me exactly what I need to see and I never have to touch it.
I have it set to style 2 with fuel range at the top. Everything is extremely clear, and the tach is easier to read at a glance than a traditional one.
The dash doesn't bother me at all. I have mine set on style 2 and it gives me all the info I need. I don't understand the whining about the dash.
No arguing its functional, but have you seen the new 8.8" widescreen KTM displays. Oh baby!
I hate the dash. 4 months on mine and I still do not like the dash. I do not like this winglet progressive tachometer, in the end I use style 2 with digital tachometer cause I can’t read the graphic one in a glance
I guess what worries me is everyone fixated on the dash, are you even looking at the road when riding? 😂
@@pb_86
Why are you trying to read the tach?
You should be feeling and listening to your bike to know when to shift.
The graphic is perfect as a shift light. You set your shift points and it goes red at the point you set, which can be seen even if you aren’t looking directly at it
never understood why Triumph couldn't put this exact specs into the Daytona instead. Would definitely immediately trade my '24 Rs for it tho 😂
Yammie, please start using proper mic pop filter, because really even turning off subwoofer and setting low tones to 0 it's still wnnoying, especially for me after couple of days from brain surgery with scull opening 🤕🤯
I'll be honest. The display and direction pad on the R model are simpler, and easier to use
In the new 2025 MT-07 seems will have cruise control standard so the 2025 MT-09 should have a similar spec because why would the lower bike have more features meaning Triumph now is way behind on its offerings especially if they are going to charge more
If im only going to commute, should i get the R ? Also, is it an overkill?
Maybe the oncoming Triumph Tiger Sport 800 would be the better choice. The street triple will still be more fun
Would you send the giveaway bike to Spain? 🤔
Obviously a joke. Greetings from Spain and great content as always
Seems like you have a personal vendetta against this bike lol. I’ve had an RS660, Tuono 660, and this cosmic yellow for last 3 bikes. When it came down to keeping one, it was the Street Triple easily. It’s not a perfect bike but there is no such thing.
Will say I have never ridden an MT09 and that seems to be your baby so will have to check one of those out sometime!
Really think it's worth. I was definetly going to buy it b4 i got my tracer 9 gt, guess this bike is not good for the passanger
I swear triumph can never get dash’s right. Everything else is top of its class, except the dash…
Street triple RS or MT09 SP?
This or the mt09 sp?🤔
Jesus, not the R vs RS debate AGAIN! If you're honest with yourself and your never going to go to the track? The R is a great, fast street bike. And if you accidentally find yourself at the track in the R? You'll probably STILL somehow manage to have fun. But, if you want the RS? Buy it i guess.
Can someone please tell me how the lap timer works without having to manually press it every lap?? I’ve been trying to figure it out for a year now but can’t get the auto distance function to work 😅
Nice bike.
Well is it actually premium price for new bike when compered to MT09sp or even r9, or ktm 990s? 🤔
Can you compare to the mt09
Oh man.. my ballz ain't liking that seating position.. lol
I wish I was born in US to win this beauty
TLDR?
100% YES
I'm sorry, but there aren't a set of headlights in the world that are uglier than the MT-10!
New MT09 and MT10 are absolutely hideous IMO. Awesome bikes, but I just don't think I could look at them all day. XSR900 over those all day for looks alone.
The Headlight looks like a praying mantis
Kinda appalling that you have to pay more for cruise control.
MT09SP is a better street bike imo.
I have mt09sp, 3rd gen, 10.500€, 0km on odometer...118 HP. In the same store streettripleR for 3K more... I dont know. I dont think its worth those 3K
The front is too ugly and I bet it’s not very reliable. Also I agree about that dash, that rev gauge looks terrible. BMW is still the gold standard for dashboards on motorcycles. KTM is Silver and then maybe CFMoto Bronze?
The first gen round headlamps would had look so much better on these newer generations than the mantis-style bug looking lights.
My man got the best bike in the worst color.
convert it into a proper Daytona....
R is worth of the price but RS is not.price is to high
Dampers*
yeah the UI is awful. wish they just keep it simple like kawasaki, ktm and bmw dash.
Yeah the turn signal switch feels atrocious. There's little excuse for a premium model to have that lackluster touch point. Still a really good bike.
This vs MT09 SP?
I hate the dash, total downgrade from the r. I don’t ride the bike that hard so I would probably never notice the difference between r and rs. But I have to get this yellow, this color alone makes it worth the money for me.
No! This is NOT a beginner bike….
I wouldn't buy it as my first bike but if I win it then game on 🤙
the dash is so bad.. i would pay premium for the old 675 dash
Watched a video the other day putting this model on a list of the 25 most unreliable motorcycles not able to last 60k miles.
you watched an anonymous AI generated video. there’s a small design fault (press fitting on gear selector) which can snap if you stamp on the gear lever.
The rest of the video was complete BS.
First
It doesn't matter if it's worth it or not. It looks like crap.
I can't except that headlight, it's a deal breaker.
The bike is beautiful, but kawasaki missed the mechanical aspect.
Is it my comp or is there stringed instruments playing in the background?, if so its quite annoying to me atleast, nice bike tho
I could never buy one THEESE Brit bikes or bmw as well. Working at a motorcycle dealership in Austin Texas the only bikes torn apart with the engine torn out were Tri’s and BMW. Not spending 15K on a yellow turd.
