      Empressive the reason why they were dismissive is because she tried to separate the issue into a new category.. Puerto ricans and dominicans are off african descent its the same struggle

      Sorry I don't agree with u or her she is black. Just from a different part of the world the only difference from her and African American that she is Dominican... Dominican is your a culture there is no different you're in the same struggle as any black woman.. so what is she trying to say because she's from Dominican Republic it's harder for her to get a acting job in America nobody would know she's from Dominican Republic unless she opens her mouth talk that's the only things we would know if she was different... Dominicans are nothing but Haitians and Spaniards mixing it bothers me when people from other cultures that look like the people that's already here don't went to identify with the people who already is here...

    • @marcjuheard922
      @marcjuheard922 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      not at all. She was trying to say (and did say) that in the Latin culture they think its cool to wear blackface and diminish black people and their features. They are heavy into colorism, she's not saying she is better than any other black people. But that her struggle is different. They don't have an MLK or a Malcolm X. I thought it was pretty self explanatory

      Black men cant except color-ism because it would expose that they have been successfully programmed by white supremacy!! They feel like only black women are affected by the white standards because of weave etc however they refuse to see how they're also affected and how they keep racism alive through color-ism in the black community, ITS TRULY SICK!!

He is very intelligent, ignorant sometimes but he knows look at him, in comparison to when he first started..While he always calling ppl out. Ok.. I'm disgusted with the whole thing, the way the country is going right now we need to all be sticking together real talk!! Not trying to tear ANYBODY DOWN. She held hers down. I actually was proud of her!! She came on there to promote her music. I wonder how she really feels about the interview. I tell you she educated many people..Most ppl would of let them have it. I'm going to exclude Angela Yee on this particular interview. She tried to help her explain to the fake and phony couple..I'm sorry they were definitely out of line again, in my opinion.
      . I would have liked to hear her sing something (Snippets of her music) they were very rude&disrespectful again I am disgusted!!!

    Amara speaks the truth. This has been my observation for years. While in conversation with my grandmother a true fan of Latin soaps, concerning this very matter. She went on to share that women of dark skin are never cast in Latin soaps as lead actresses. Only as slaves, housekeepers, nannies etc...I don't believe the crew clearly understood the point she was attempting to express during her interview. As a Latina of dark skin myself with hair just like Amara, there's discrimination within my own culture against darker complected Latinos seeking to brake into specific professions. She may be viewed as " cute and sexy" yet not "good enough" for elite roles. I can't explain where this way of thinking comes from. It's insane!

    The Breakfast team's behaviour was despicable. They completely dismissed her struggle and message in the same way as some white people say that racism is in our mind. What Charlemagne and his coworkers wanted to infer is that if she does not make it it is because she is not talented enough. Black self hate is real and it is what we need to overcome before adressing white racism.

      What truly matters is how WE treat ourselves as a 'black' race. We have to stop believing 'their' lies about Black people. Enough is enough. Even if they find "black" or "dark skinned" people ugly that is their issue not ours. We begin to have an issue when we BELEIEVE their LIES. We are beautiful GOD MADE US. Wth smh.

    I noticed something....dark skinned american men can be at times dismissive of dark skinned women's struggles against discrimination.
    I wonder what was so hard to get what she meant. CTG seems smart so i don't understand what was hard to understand what she was saying. It's the equivalent of a black americans saying; I went for the position I am qualified but I get turned down because I am not considered the guy/girl next door (american). What was so hard to understand?
    Why does she want to be accepted as latina? Do they want to be accepted as american(as black as just because born and raised)?
    She's saying she does better professionally outside of her country.
    Like when black americans get asked if they are african by clueless foreigners overseas who can't grasp the concept some americans are black.
    Sometimes I get the feeling they just want her to ignore what happens to her and just hurry up and get in that sexy bikini.
    It's all a hot mess.
    If she played stupid they'd have a problem with that too they need to calm down so she can be herself. Let people speak their truth.

      Black men don't want to acknowledge dark skin women's struggle, because they believe women should suffer in silence. They just want women to be quiet and look pretty. We are not suppose to complain about anything. Plus every time we mention colorism it makes them feel guilty about their preference for light skin women. It's just like telling a drug addict that drugs are bad for you. They are going to be dismissive and react very angry.

      Nakia Howe black women can't be pro black, if black women don't have any options then you should do what helps you and be politically correct.

    • @Sahel101
      @Sahel101 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nakia Howe, because your complaints of colorism from you females are worthless. like what you said about black mens light skin preference which is bullshit. if anything most of yall are looking for validation from other races of men. thats why you CARE so much. lets be real how many men are you going to have SEX with? You only need one man. Why must every man out there validate or prefer you dark skin females? i see black men with brown, dark and light skin all the time. This is why i say your complaints of colorism are worthless.

    Latin people don't want to be associated with black people especially in DR where they celebrate the idea of ethnically cleansing their nation by breeding with whites exclusively. It is worse in America where blacks are considered African immigrants. The popular idea that America is blonde hair blue eyes football and apple pie is very discouraging. At least in Latin countries they consider all the natural citizens Puerto Rican or Cuban or Colombian or Dominican whether black or white. Unlike here where blacks are African Americans and not just American even tho black Jamaicans Brazilians etc are simply Jamaican or Brazilian no prefix or DISCLAIMER. That's honestly why i feel a lot of black Americans don't be wanna hear about "the struggle" from Dominicans and Trinidadians and whoever else bc.. over here when been dealing with the shit

    *DJ Envy* “is it true? cause I don’t see that”
    *CTG* “you sure it’s not in your mind?”
    I was VERY surprised by their ignorance, lack of compassion and willing to understand. It’s one thing to be ignorant, but have an open mind. They completely dismissed Amara’s point. *Colorism is VERY prevalent in America and other countries as well.* Then to act as if it doesn’t exist in the music industry because a couple of black, dark-skinned artists made it is absurd! Using Cardi B to try and negate the fact that colorism very well exists in the music industry which only further proves Amara’s point in the first place.
    This was the PERFECT chance to have use their further educate the ignorant upon such an important topic and they failed!
    *Throw the whole interview & interviewers away* 🤦🏾‍♀️

    I'm glad you made this video and put other people's testimonies in it at the end because I feel a lot of people still don't get it. I had to stop watching that Breakfast Club interview because Envy and especially Charlamagne were acting real ignorant and dismissive. And when Charlamagne said he didn't see and asked her was it all in her head, I thought to myself, isn't that what whites say to us when we claim police brutality, white privilege, and systemic racism? They say we're making it up and that they don't see what we're talking about. I don't care how famous I am, I would never go on that show unless those two were gone.

    Thank you for this video. Charlemagne can engage in intelligent discussion and critical thought with Envy, Schultz, Umar, Budden, even gays and transgenders etc. but when it comes to women, he falls back on lazy interviews. Asking her if she was sure that colorism is Latin America was not in her mind was disrespectful and if anyone asked him that same question about racism, he'd make sure to shut them down.
