People try to deny colorism in the Latin community but it does exist and it alienates us Afro-Latinos but our presence shall not be denied. Be proud of your Afro-Latin roots.
Eros Delorenzi your racist for using the term black to describe me and are an uneducated idiot on culture and geography calling me A Black African Made me laugh.
Another thing that people still don't get but needs to understand, no being AfroLatino does not mean that you have one black parent and one "latino parent". Both of ones parents can be black but still be Latino, you can be 100% black and be Latino.
Yes, basically that the Latinx identity is not about the racial concept, it could never be because is a multicultural/multiethnic, from intercontinental (African, European, Asian - including various types of Asians) and indigenous society since its beginning. Mostly mixed but not completely (saying to avoid that kind of hurtful generalizations). And that each country is so unique and different. Is more of a sense of alliance cultural identity. When people say that is like saying Muslim/Christian is someone’s ethnicity - which is not, is a different category.
I'm Puerto Rican born and raised and have beautiful brown skin I love my beautiful brown, black , white people we are all amazing dont matter to me mixed is so beautiful I have 4 sisters 1 is light another is darker than me but I love them no less that wat makes the world soo amazing love each other stop hating or putting each other down cuz of skin color at the end of the day we all are human beings 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷😃😃😃😃🌍🌍👍👍
Sapa Inti I thought you were the one who wanted more Indio-Latino videos. If you want that, then it means you do not want to conform with eurocentric standards. Stop being a troll.
Nobody is being anti white, this comment was not hating against white people. It is about embracing your own race and culture. Did you even watch the video?
You are basically living in the white man's world. You cannot end something that got you up here.If those features go down then my dear, you'll have to live in the forest then.
Trolling King no, i was born and raised in cuba and i do not have anything against darkskins, light skins, white people, asians, middle eastern people, or anything in between. just because you had a bad personal experience with one latino does not mean we’re all racist or that anyone besides that person is racist for that matter. yes, there are racist latinos and i’ve met some of them but you can’t generalize millions of people because of just one
I was laughing when Puerto Rican told me I don't look Cuban. I said have you heard of Roberto Clemente? He said no. Have you heard of Celia Cruz? No, Where you been bro. They look like me. Every time you doing salsa, it's a African dance. Every time you play the Conga Drum. Your Dealing with African culture. Santeria is a African thing, and has many Yoruba God's Such as Orishas.
He was Colombian and Puerto Rican. But still, how you don't know about these people. There are videos of Puerto Rican's that's look Black to White looking. I think Tego is from Loiza. There's photos from the 1800 Showing Blacks cutting sugar cane.
Celia cruz 😍😍😍 every weekend my grandma will play her music. I dont speak spaniah but when i miss my grandma i play celia cruz to feel close to my abuela
Mexican and African American :) my parents put it in my head that black is powerful but I also spent a lot of time on my Mexican side and thankfully theyre not racist.
I cried when I saw the Honduran girl, finally some representation! For the longest time, my parents and godparents have been in so much denial of the black ancestry carried in our bloodline, but how can one not look my father, the darkest Salvadoran you will ever find, or my mom and her curly hair, wide nose, and hyper-pigmentation and not tell me we carry black in our blood? I may not identify as Afro-Latino, but my people deserve better treatment, regardless of the color of their skin. Keep challenging the norm, we’re going places.
Aaliyah E there can be mixed of their ancestry, my mom told me that a freind of her told my mom there used to be black's in El Salvador but due to mistreatment's the Afro-Salvadorians had to retreat. I might not know fully but I'm going to do my best and research about El Salvador's history.
many people dont understand that people can be both black and latino I am from the dominican republic and I completely understand where my hair comes from, my lips and almost every aspect of my beautiful culture, discrimination in the latino community is real even among our own families
Ivonne I’m Dominican too and this is what I been saying, the fact we have all these mixes are what makes us beautiful. Dominican and Latina women in general are so gorgeous, we come in all colors and sizes. My daughter is half Dominican and Ecuadorian, so imagine, she’s got black, Spaniard, and indigenous blood in her. I want her to grow up proud of her roots, proud of her curly hair, and I just want her to love herself no matter what ♥️
Ivonne just because u look a certain way does not mean the rest oof the poulation does so shut the fuck up bitch millions of white and mixed race majority Dominicans that are proud being multi racial with taino blood and proud aswell i have 27% native american blood im a beautiful light tan yellowish Dominican and proud of my color just cause u look a certain way does not mean u get to talk for all domis. No bitch! Also if u really Dominican then u know the hard crazy times and crisis were facing w millions hatian pouring in Doominican republic illegaly and were suppose to stay not doing noothing acting like they all dominican now no bitch ! We have laws like every other country! And our laws need too be respected and all the illegals hatians need to be deported . As of 2017 there are 3.5 million hatian inmigrants in Dominican republic that need to be deported!!! Just because u migrate to a country and learn language dont make u from that country!!
In my opinion... coming from a guy who has travoled to deffernt places in Latin America... maybe 20 or 30 years ago being dark skin in Latin america was not a good thing but in more recent years that's changed alot even when I travoled to santo domingo things is alot better now then just 5 years ago... but one thing I can't ever see that will cross over is LatinX... Wtf youtubers stop trying to change the spanish colture... Leave that shit to the gringos... #cancellatinx
I’m not Afro Latona but I am Latina and I want my WHOLE family to watch this so they can understand what I’ve been talking about this whole time. This is a beautiful message. This needs to go viral among Latinos.
It sure does! There's so much colorism ingrained in our culture that there are darker shade Latinos completely in vehement denial about having ANY African ancestry and it's so sad. As a Nuyorican of Puerto Rican descent, I'm more aware of this and embrace it in a way that a lot of native Puerto Ricans refuse to do. Thank you Pero Like for this video and I hope you do more on this topic.
bebe rivera exactly!! Most Latinos act as if they were 100% Spanish as if it was something to be proud of, when in reality all of us are mestizos or mulatos, and that’s what makes us even more beautiful!!
Dear, study your ISLANDS HISTORT just a little more! Over 95 % of you have close African heritage DENIED by your family! Denied because of the need to survive the Spaniards hatred for all Indians ....WHO WERE DARK as well as The Africans they KIDNAPPED! THEY HATED ALL OF YOU EQUALLY and they still do! YOU ONLY FOOL AND KEEP DOWN yourselves!
I remember I brought x girlfriend to meet my mother for the first time. My x is dark skin Dominican like me and my mother. My mother called me into the kitchen and told me that my x was too dark, and I said to my mom have you looked at yourself in the mirror. That day I lost some respect for my mom. We need to stand together.
She old school latina... A baby boomer... Trust me all latinos goes through this even the ones who have no afro gens goes through this... but latinX??? Coming from latinos who where born in a latin countrys like peru, mexico, columbia ,Domincans republic, panama and brazil... Wtf... I'm offended and i was born in the U.S. mi gente no se dejan que estos gringos te lavan tu cabeza con términos o palabras hecha en los estados unidos para los latinos... #cancellatinx
Trolling King that's not racist we can't forget out past our ancestors our cultures in the future everyone will be mixed and no one will remember what they ancestors where or what they looked like she has a point I'd say date who ever you want but pass on your genes to someone of ur own race ..
chris Don't play dumb. That's not why they're saying that. They don't want any darker relatives with the potential of having stereotypical black features.
Latinos are so fascinating this way. They aren't really native and they aren't really European. They really are everyone. Latinos are the future of a world society I think though.
Black is global. There is Africans, Africans Americans, Afro-Latinos, afro Caribbean, Afro Native & etc. it's beautiful, we come in all colors; speak different languages & practice different cultures & we dont age and we will never go out of style 👸🏾✊🏾💅🏾😘
Sapa Inti Melanin acts as a natural protectant from the sun, so while everyone should wear sunscreen, the darker you are, the less your skin is impacted by the visible signs of aging (fine lines and deep wrinkles) and dermis-level issues, as skin cancer rates tend to be lower.
Sapa Inti I meant to say if anything they are related to Pacific Islanders compared to Africans. There’s definitely a connection between Native Americans and Pacific Islanders wouldn’t you agree?
+Nathan w What are you talking about. Latinos/ Hispanics are called Brown people. Their race is Brown and it's a fact. They even say them selves too. They have always been Brown. Some White people have mixed with Hispanics maybe that has caused confusion. But light skin has always been favored a little more. However multi-race has entered the Hispanic life. But that has nothing to with it. When they say that, their not being racist, multiracial has just caused confusion!!!! Even White people have mixed with Hispanic/Brown people. Also know matter how light skin (if their actually Latino/Brown) The hair color also has a detail to identity, if it's black or brown, their Brown/Latino. (And if they haven't dyed their hair any other Color). The good thing is if their Latino for real. Their complexion will never get to the point where they look sick and too pale. That's why skin cancer won't cross someone's mind if their healthy you know. There are also other ways to tell, like their accent might be slightly different. Also about the food, hell no you must be joking😂😂😂😂 The food is awesome. Unless you're easy to be fooled and given something else. Actually go to a Hispanic/Brown community where they sell food and actually be willing to look at the food you want and order it maybe, before you be saying shit about it and whine like a child.
@@miaya.micronis or when the first girl sounded disappointed for having European in her and wanted to be more black. She should be proud of all parts of Latin mixture and blood.
I am African American. No, not all of them would be considered light skinned. The gentleman from Panama and the young lady from Honduras are not light. The others probably so. Black people come in all sorts of beautiful hues.
As a mixed domincan with mostly black features, I always grew up struggling with my idenity because if I said I was black, my african American friends would say "no you're not. You're spanish." If I said I was latina, then people would tilt their heads at me and say "you look black, though." To this day when people ask me what my race is, I always struggle to give a direct answer. Its hard to put a label on who I actually am when I'm not considered black or latin enough for either community. I can't help but feel like I'm put into two categories of heritage before I can decide who I am for myself. Can anyone relate?
Yeh, I'am a black spaniard from ecuatorian parents. Nor black people would believe me ( which are mostly dominicans in Barcelona) nither latin people specially ecuatorians. haha I think that's the reason why I feel more spaniard than anything. Contrary to what people believe here in western Europe, in Spain, people ambrace more what's different.
I can relate. Growing up, I was the exact tone of chris brown. The brightest on my mothers side. They're all darker. So everyone figured I was mixed. Adopted because I didn't favor my mothers people. As I hit 8th grade. My tone was darkening. I'm like wtf is going on??? Lol. I literally thought I had "michael jackson" disease. That is what I called it. Going from light to dark i was confused. Growing up in a dominant urban area, I had to do everything harder being brighter to be accepted by my peers. Except dating women. I had no issues there! But, being prejudice within our own culture is very alive and well. Has been for a while. The light vs dark crap. It needs to stop. Well, I finally accepted the fact that my tone went from that of chris browns to this reddish brown tone. Kind of weird but, i had braids the entire time. Braids were the thing to have as a young male growing up during that time. Once I finally cut my hair off 2013, after having it my entire life, it went curly by week two!! And I was confused yet again. Like wtf is up with my hair! It was braided 98% of the time, so i never knew. And in it's longer state, it isn't curly at all, kind of straight. Called my mom and said yo, what's wrong with my hair why is it so curly? People made fun of me thinking I had an actual "curl kit" in my hair. When in reality, I don't! I would go to the barber shop, and people would say, "why is your hair so good"? Or "what is up with your hair"? "Are you mixed"? Etc Finally found out who I truly was after it being hidden from me. So yes, I can relate. I never noticed my true difference between me and my peers because my moms family was all dark. Strange as it sounds. That's the family I was around all my life, not my fathers. So I didn't think genetically I was any different until the truth came out. Then It all made sense. The hair, my tone, my eyes (beer bottle brown) it all came to light 5 years ago! I'm a 33 year old man today, sad truth! I was raised "black" but never knew of my Dominican heritage. My father was a pos so, I barely knew him but, Be proud Of yourself! You're unique! 🇩🇴
I’m am an Afro Latina as well and my mom has taught me that black is the dominant gene. A black or colored person can have a baby w/ any race and the baby will look black regardless therefor I identify as black regardless of what others may or may not say 🇧🇿 🇬🇹
I understand how you feel, only think is I'm very light, but have the curly, kinky hair, African nose, and green eyes. I don't fall within any side completely, but identify more with my African roots
Who disliked this?! This is sending a positive message towards us afro-latinos saying its okay to not be the sterotypical latino. It's ok to be darker and have big curly hair. There's nothing wrong with us. We are still latino. Shame on you people who don't see that. You're on the wrong side of history if you think otherwise.
Simplicity Logan yes it is an eye opening. Thank you for supporting us, we are part of you guys. We need to love each other. I never knew, I had no idea. I grew up on poverty in mexico, I am the only generation who finished high school. I swear I was told I was "latina" I am sad because our next generation has to deal with that lie...
I don’t have my dad’s complexion so I don’t get recognized for having African roots and it bothers me when people try to tell me who I am when they don’t know.
Sapa Inti well that’s the root of the problem. Blacks have not been properly educated well enough to discern culture, ethnicity, national origin ethnic etc etc. They resent being black and these type of videos only prove it.
Menka Strovits here you go with your ignorant opinions. How can you make a blanket statement when I'm positive tht u don't knw wht or how many blacks are educated to their culture or others. You sound like a racist tht's a lowkey hater trying to blend your poison with something positive. You can't stop unity with your bs
Latin American countries do not think this way, at all. Go visit any Spanish or Portuguese speaking country south of the Texas border and take a look at all the billboards and people they put on a pedestal. They are pale, light eyed people who do not represent the aesthetic of the majority of the population. They see light skin as aspirational goals, don't believe me? Backpack down there and see for yourself!
I know/knew this girl who's hispanic and very very dark compared to her mother and i remember her mom alwaaaaays saying "you can go outside when the suns setting or when there's clouds but you can't go out when the sun is out because you'll get darker!" And she would always put on her mom's much lighter foundation and complain because it didn't match and stuff, & I always felt rly bad for her but i wasnt sure how to comfort her, (i still tried) but now! The internet has people promoting love of dark skin, and it makes me really happy because that same girl is full of love for her skin now and posts often about it and I'm like awwww
Having an African-American mother and Dominican dad I feel this in so many levels. I LOVE the Hispanic/Latin culture. But I have never felt welcome. I don’t speak Spanish ( I know a few words and understand some I learned on my own) because I wasn’t taught. I try to explain it’s still a part of who I am. But i always get “no your just black”. I still love who I am it’s just hard to be accepted. I LOVE me and who ever doesn’t, I’m ok with that. 🙂🙂👍🏾✌🏾
I’m glad my family aren’t discriminatory like that. They never taught me about pelo bueno/pelo malo or any type of colorism. I’m so hurt that Latinos are SOOO misrepresented. Dark skin is absolutely beautiful. It’s so gorgeous, and everyone wants those beautiful features. We need to change the way the Latino community looks toward Afro-Latinos and indigenous roots.
My father's Puerto Rican family rejected me and disowned my father because my mother is Afro-Cuban and we have "pelo malo". Always made me want to deny my latina culture because I didnt feel welcomed...but I have to understand that they're not all like that. Videos like this help me know that I am NOT alone.
Giggles Bloody Murder I'm a Puerto Rican and I feel like Puerto Rico needs to realize that we are beautiful and just because we are different doesn't mean we are not human I'm sorry if this doesn't help tho I'm only 12
Trolling King yes I see it on my Mexican side of my family all my cousins want a white guy . I was always attracted to darker skind women I don't like white skin
I am 45 years old, and I am still to black for my Mexican side and to Mexican for the black side. My Heavenly Father Is Beautiful and doesn't make junk. I have taught my kids to see just how beautiful they are. When they treat others with love and respect, that's what we need more of and to walk with their heads held up.
Amen sis. I look to my spiritual ancestors who loved God. I can’t worry about someone telling me I don’t look boricua or Cuban enough. What does it matter me looking a certain way if I’m garbage inside? I’d rather cultivate good qualities like patience and humility instead of trying to change myself to fit someone else’s mold. ✌️
Compared to the rest of my family I am very pale, and I always remember when I was small my abuela used to say to me “ que linda y blanquita que saliste” which means that she was happy that I turned out whiter that my cousins. I was always so confused like why is she saying this why is it good that i’mpaler than my family. racism within the latino community is real and it needs to end, all latinos are beautiful no matter the color.
My Mexican family always like white skin all my cousins dating white men but I never liked white skin I always wanted to be darker with darker hair and I rather take a black girl then a white girl tbh
My mom got recessive genes of blonde hair and light pale skin and she hated it. They would doubt she was my grandfathers daughter and she hated her skin. She married tan guys and She has light tan skin children us. Plus she looks loves that color black or tan
As someone who comes from a mixed background I always find it weird how differently people of the same ethnicity are treated based on how they look, my grandad is the darkest skinned of his siblings and he was always treated worse than them because of it, even by his own parents. We stand stronger united rather than divided and I wish more people would realise that.
Ella Rawson the same thing happened in my family! My uncle from Honduras was the darkest of his siblings, and hey pretty much pushed him aside; he and my aunt ended up moving in with my family when I was a baby, and now I see the cycle continue with my siblings and their skin tone.
know how that is, in my family even with the same parents my nana and most her siblings are fair skinned and the one sis is hella morena, same with my nanas children, hella when i was little i thought my one tia was a white woman lol the rest are very dark skinned, look black/native not mexican american
It’s white supremacy. Plain and simple. You have countries like Argentina which pride themselves on being one of the whitest nations in South America. Countries like Argentina and Brazil prefer European immigration to whiten the population. In religions practiced throughout Latin American they prefer to use images of white people for Jesus, Mary and so on (though this varies regionally). You see the pattern. They are trying to subjugate the black and indigenous people, even today. And this behavior is perpetuated in mixed families.
Cheese Is Daddy There is such a thing as white and Afro Mexican. A lot of Afro Mexicans come from states like Oaxaca, Guerrero, Vera Cruz. That’s where most of Mexico’s slave were kept.
My sister just went natural her hair it's big and she's unique and beautiful, but my dad he is afro latino as afro latino gets, when my sister when natural he was losing it trying to convince her to get back to relax hair because, if you can make it look good and you can fix it why not do it. I told him that if she was born like that, how was it that it looks bad or there was something to fix, that the idea that there was something wrong with being our natural self with everything that it came with was a idea that the world gave us put it's not right or real. Soy puertorriqueña, dominicana y en mi raza hay belleza.
Niicole4177 same here. My mom is like: BUT YOU LOOK PRETTIER WHEN YOU RELAX IT. I HAVE BEEN NATURAL FOR 2 YEARS NOW. AND I TOLD HER. WHEN YOU STOP DYING YOUR HAIR AND RELAXING IT THEN I will RELAX mine. She said I Won't and I told her well.... neither will I. 😐
This is so powerful! Growing up black in America, I thought only African Americans had racial issues within our country and within our race, but to see how it has affected the Latino community is disheartening and enlightening. We've got to do better as the human race!
You literally live in a bubble of complacency if you believe that, you're from the United States, really what did you think was going on with Muslims and Asians?
@@yuanpucasn4955 so you’re mad that a 27 year old (which was how old I was at the time) that never left her country and was dealing with her own injustices as a black woman in America, was EDUCATING herself if the struggles of others? The fact that y'all are a fill blocks away and don't know sh... About the surroundings it's "discombobulating" ... Some African Americans talk about Africa all the time but don't know anything about the continent too. Americans are too closed in to their culture, y'all need to seek some light.

MELANIN IS BEAUTIFUL
It is so sad how much I can relate to this video being Haitian and Dominican, and them basically making me hate myself, because of the African roots that we all have.
People simply don't realise how intertwined our histories are, Haitians and Dominicans. Several years ago, I would have told you that I am Haitian, and that's it, there's no discussion about it, but recently I found out that my great- grandparents on my mother's side were Dominican, Jamaican, English, and French, as well as Haitian, and seriously it really makes me rethink concepts of what it means being Afro- Latina, or even claiming my Latina identity in general. I think a whole lot of that prejudice comes from struggling themselves to be accepted and respected as human beings, but from also the toxic indoctrination that is passed down for generations. I don't speak Spanish (I speak French and Kreyol) and I don't feel the need to do so in order to 'pass' for Dominican (being mistaken for being Dominican happens to me regularly now, and it's funny because they always get a surprise when I tell them I don't speak Spanish) I am enough, unique, and valuable, and so are you
If you hate being black is because blacks history is a tragedy SLAVERY is the only reason why Blacks are in America period. Get over that, behave normal not trying to impose being black and you will live a normal life.
i agree i have been treated so differently by Hispanic people just because im Panamanian and African American and because my hair doesn't meet "Hispanic" standards
LionKeg1 on behalf of the dominicans I hereby declare that Sammy Sosa is no longer Dominican or Hispanic also we trow Alex Rodriguez on the pile of exile ex Latinos they don't longer exist on our comunity
Yes and did you know that indigenous sub-Saharan Africans have none, or very little Neanderthal DNA because their ancestors did not migrate through Eurasia. In fact most African people and their decedents have very little to no Neanderthal DNA. By 250,000 years ago H. heidelbergensis in Africa had become Homo sapiens. Our modern human ancestors did not begin their own exodus from Africa until about 70,000 years ago, when they expanded into Eurasia and encountered their ancient cousins. Sorry I see people like Eros Delorenzi on here and I start rambling, because we need to teach people about us. If you ever get a chance to go to the African continent do so, you will learn way more than West African history, you will learn about the oldest groups of people on the planet and meet some of the most intellectual people as well.
Stay beautiful ❤️ your what white society wish they were black, it's a privilege to Wake up every morning and look in the mirror and know that I'm the same color as Jesus stay woke and never trust the enemy

This is a wonderful video! It was nice to see other Panamanians in this video. I have never ever felt any shame about being dark-skinned or having "nappy" hair. I sooo loved this video, I am not latino but African and I'm so glad you guys are putting your perspectives out there. you guys are beautiful its sad as sooo much of latino culture is highly influenced from African culture, from cumbia to bachata. Afro latinos, black people, but especially afro latinos ( cause I know its not showcased in the media) you are beautiful and amazing!!!
No Latin American culture its not "highly" influenced by African culture, African culture would be the smallest contributor, Southern Europe followed by Native American are the biggest cultural influences in the region.Just take one example you used, Bachata.. Bachata comes from Bolero it has nothing to do with Africa.
True Aries how am I trying to throw shade Afro Latinos are not black y’all trying include people who are not even supportive to black people so what are you talking about
I can totally relate to this video. When folks hear me speaking Spanish they always ask if I'm black. Like really? My color hasn't changed. It baffles me that many people aren't aware that Afro Latinos actually do exist.
People have no idea how appreciative of the black community Puerto Ricans should be. Literally all of our culture is connected to Afro-American roots. That mofongo you love to eat, it originates from African cuisine. That salsa music you hear on Sunday mornings, it originated from African-Americans and their taste in music. THE MAIN REASON WHY YOU SEE SO MANY DIVERSE AND COLORFUL PEOPLE IN PUERTO RICO IS BECAUSE AFRICAN SLAVES WERE BROUGHT INTO THE LAND.
Aaliyah E Bitch, I'm Puerto Rican. We are mixed with Spanish Europeans, Taino Native Americans, and AFRICAN DESCENDANTS, and some added over. Africans were the biggest source of our culture.
This rican agrees with you , in school in Puerto Rico we learned that no Puerto Rican can be racist because were all mixed with African European and Taino Indian and that's why our families come in different shades and colors and you can't say this is what a Puerto Rican looks like because we all come out looking different I think for the most part the most Puerto Ricans have accepted their African ancestry but some other Latinos who have it and just like we do don't .
Cardi b is and a bunch of other ppl like prince Royce kid cudi almost all the actresses on otnb u don’t have a distinctive color or look when being Afro Latino I’m Afro Latina and very light
uuuuuh daddy yankee? Luis Fonsi? Nicky Jam? Jennifer Lopez? Most puerto rican artists ive seen in general? I've seen plenty of black people in carribean and south american music videos. now mexico, that is different
How many of those afro-latinx's are dark skinned/have more (west/sub-saharan) "African" features? That's an issue, cos yeah there are some afro-latinas but they're usually light skinned and/or have curly "good hair". And I'm talking about there needing to be a more equal/representative amount, not just a few here or there. No it's not "never", but with the amount of black latinx's in Latin America/the Caribbean, the representation is disproportionate (from what I've seen and heard anyway, I am new to Latin music).
This makes me so sad, I’m a white girl with blonde hair and green eyes and I have ALWAYS wanted to look just like all of you. It shocks me when people with dark skin say they wish they looked like me because I wish I looked like them. We are ALLL beautiful and unique and we should all embrace our beauty that god has gifted us with. If only you knew how beautiful you are!!!
Flying Nazgûl it a black person said they wanted to look white it’s normal and believable but when a white person says they want to look black, it’s so unbelievable huh?
Same here as a white girl I have always LOVED and admired women who are beautiful like these women and the cultures they are from as well. I feel like hugging every single one of them and saying, “if you only knew.....” 💕💕💕💕
Flying Nazgûl naw I get what she is saying, when you grow up around mostly dark tones Latinos you are the outsider, white boy or white girl. When people find out you're PR as in my case...they're shocked this white and black stuff is just really silly...if you're confident in yourself you'll be fine too many people whining about petty shit
I hate when people tell me that I'm a good looking black guy. Point being I don't hear people using the term 'white guy' when they consider a white guy being attractive. They just say 'good looking guy'.
imagine being able to speak 2+ languages fluently and having the ability to embrace more than one cultural background, and having old white people calling you "uneducated." you guys are amazing, and you deserve to feel as beautiful and intelligent as you really are.
thepuertoricanprince Amen. "We are not Hispanic enough and we are not black enough"... People are so twisted. I had an African American TOLD me once. You are not black... I told him: Yes I am. And he goes NO you are not. 😑 And I just let him go and sink in his ignorance cause I did not want to argue. 3 of my great grandparents came from Africa. And one was from Spain. So wouldn't that make me more black than them who had a lot more generations back from Africa?
Cuban Agassi Ppl in the US go by what they see and forget about recessive traits. And I had to let some people know like I’m Black, but I’m NOT African American Im Puerto Rican. And people just couldn’t get it. At least not where I live (in Pittsburgh) I went to school here and havent left unfortunately but I cant wait to move to New York! Or I have ppl tell me I could be Dominican but not Puerto Rican (based on appearance) or Mexicans ask if Im Dominican “bc of my accent” and Im like I def sound Puerto Rican. Its crazy the struggle like even people in college made me feel like I thought I was better than them bc I wouldn’t claim to be African American all from people whove never been to Puerto Rico and know nothing about it. Sometimes I just say I’m Black and Puerto Rican if I’m tired smh!
Government Thomy Nah, if anything Ive felt the opposite from my people. Puerto Ricans come im all shades, shapes and sizes. I say this as someone who has lived on the island! And I go at least twice a year! The most racist um have you met any Argentine latinos?!?! Because almost everyone of the 20 I met, except one, think theyre better than all latinos! Again it could be bc I’m from San Juan, but we love and embrace trigueños no Dominicans on the otherhand thats a whole diff animal I also went to school there in Santiago for a year. Ijs everyones experience is different but as a boricua thats lived there its def warm and accepting
Cuban Agassi I've had African American's tell me I'm not black enough because of skin tone, hair color, fatal features and I'm African American. Totally warped ideas. Sometimes, I think some people's minds are too small to grasp the dynamism of it all.
Powerful. Needed in today's time more than ever. I am tired of hearing these subconscious things being said from our communities. I love this channel for this reason and I will always support this as one of my favorites on youtube.
My mother is Afro Latino and my father a white Latino so I’m a biracial Latino and though I’m light skin my brother is darker so we receive discrimination for being Latino mixed and different skin tones. And there have been times when a friends come to my house and go, “ wait I thought u said ur mom and abuela Latina, there are black “ America doesn’t educate these kids on slavery and colonization outside USA and it’s sad, love this video and I love my Afro latinos hermanos I love my big lips and curly hair !!!
Tiana Camacho, You better love your big lips and curly hair, because other people do. But guard your beauty and hold your honor in high regard. Don't be used by people. Find your God; you are lsrael. You are a descendant of Jacob. God has a way of life for you and His people: www.straitwaytruth.org
I'm Mexican. I'm a caramelized, tanned skin toned Mexican, and throguhout my entire life time, particularly throughout my high school years most people, that would include my supposed friends, other students, my professors, counselors, and what not, used to criticize or point out my skin tone. Throughout such time in my life, I never necessarily felt hate or dislike towards myself for my skin color, but until just a coulpe of years ago, after isolating myself from these people for a while, I learned to love my skin color because I realized that regardless of what people said about it, my skin color is beautiful. With this said, if you look at yourself without other people's judgements in mind, you'll learn to see the beauty in you and appreciate yourself.
When i was a little girl i wanted to be white. But then when i grew up, i realized that all whites want to be soo tan in summer. And there I am, being tan all year long, because im not black but not white either. Im in between and love it
Cecilia F I'm not a African Latino although I do have a black grandmother but I'm mainly a Native American Latino And I remember when I was young I wanted to be white to since I mainly grew up watching European Latino channels. But then As a I grew up I realized how much I loved the suns rays on my skins and how it makes brown and black skin shine like gold since our skin was was adapted to the sun. I feel like everyone should be proud of there skin though not just white blacks browns or any other skin colors.
Sapa Inti Mis padres son de Mexico pero yo naci en Los Estados Unidos My parents are from Mexico but I was born in the United States of America. Also sorry if that Spanish translation is bad I grew up taking English classes only.
This was enlightening as an African American male I member my Spanish teacher back in high school tell me about dark skin Puerto Ricans but never really knew a lot of Latin America has people of medium to dark skin will say colorism def exists in the black community as well but no matter if your skin is light or dark if you got African roots be proud of it we all come from the motherland one way or another.
I love this video, it actually makes me really sad that people had or even have to suffer trough this. All colours are beautiful, shapes and sizes are beautiful. Also I can relate, I'm French, and in france there is this pressure to be a petite woman, with white and rosy skin, with a little nose, with straight and blond hair. And i look nothing like that, i look very arab, i have a really long nose, dark and puffy hair, i'm very tall, kind of curvy and i get very self conscious of my appearance. I actually don't what my origins are, so i don't look middle eastern enough, to be considered by the arab / maghreb community, but white people don't consider me as white at all. And i have been getting a lot of shit about it since i was probably 10 years old. I don't know if anyone will see this post but i just needed to talk about it. I'm sorry. Any way Afro-Latinos are beautiful, and deserve to be treated as such . Love from France
Laetitia P So you don't know your ethnicity at all? I'm mixed race, but I consider myself as black in Brazil. And I have never surffered any racism. But the internet had made me think about who I actually am. It's easier for me to find a place to belong to, coz here, though some brazilians are racists, you don't need to choose a side. I don't know how it is to not fit in anywhere.
Lmao, the guy in the beginning who said "their not black, their brown" was literally me when I was in 1st grade and being teached about Martin Luther King's speach
I honestly find it cool when I see an Afro-latino. I usually think "hey that dude is speaking really good Spanish and he's black". It's usually at that point when I remember that being Latino isn't just about being "light-brown"
+dg.g. actually, more slaves ended up in Latin America than they did in America. It's just that in America, we had segregation, Jim Crow and we didn't have the culture of "fixing the race" aka encouraging Black people to mix with non-Blacks to lighten up.
Mercedes Lopes I watch Korean dramas now. And SAD cause they are obsessed with bleaching their actors And deforming them with plastic surgery. All countries are crazy now days.
This literally made me tear up. Thank you so much for sharing & bringing this awareness to the forefront💚 We need to hear more of Afro-Latinos’ perspective.
This is a very important video I'm glad they made this. Colorism is terrible among the various minority communities. The media doesn't help much to dissolve it. Its up to us teach our future generation and family/friends on how wrong it is discrimination in colorism, ethnicities, and races etc.
It’s sad that people really fight over skin tones and how long brain washing has been passed down through so many generations, we still are having to discuss these same issues. Hate when people rather listen to what other people say then what they actually believe within themselves 😞😖😩
I just want to say that this video make me cry. As a kid i was always put down for being such a high melanin concentration. I've tried self bleaching, and i wasn't even 10 yet. I too have learn that most people related to high social status want my features just not my melanin. I LOVE MYSELF, SO SHOULD YOU. All of us are one of a kind so we should stop aspiring to the status quo, and have our own individual ones. Learn to love, heal, and reveal who you are, not what society wants you to be.
Nelly Uchiha Not necessarily, at a certain period black and chinese slaves were brought over to Panama to build the canal etc but before then black and chinese people were not indigenous to that area. Every Panamanian is not mixed with black but they/we are mixed with something. At the end of the day we are all mixed with multiple things no matter what it is. I am proud of everything in my bloodline. Legit
I can relate to the guy in this video. When he felt confused hearing people being called black, I dont blame him. I was the same as a young child growing up here in the U.S. I kept thinking, "ummm, we're BROWN??" I was so stubborn too, because I was so proud that I knew all my colors!😂😂😂. But people kept correcting me and I was frustrated. Then the memory was brought back when my twins were born. They are half Mexican. They learned their colors and called "white" people pink, themselves "bright brown", me "medium brown". They called it how they saw it. I didn't correct anything. They were so pure and innocent. When they went to school and heard black and white, they didn't like it because they felt it was not the truth. Love children. They're so smart and truthful. I admire how Dark skinned people in africa don't call each other black. They don't have to deal with being reduced to a color.
I love this! I vaguely remember the exact same frustration now as a child, too, when you said your twins said white people were pink!!!! Lololol I totally remember saying that exact same thing you and being like.... “ummm is everyone else crazy or are these people not the color of the light pink crayon in the box???? Wtf.”!!?!?! Love kids too for this reason totally! They are so pure and really so much more profound and absolutely true to life than we really appreciate or listen to as intently as we should be. 💕💕💕💕
K. you done? Not all whites hate on latinos or any other race. Everyone just needs to love and respect each race even if they dont fit the skin color in that category. We are all people we shouldnt be divided by skin color or how anyone looks.
Guys I live in a multicultural area, but there isn't a high Latino population. I imagine you're all American and I can imagine you'd know about Latino culture more than I do. I might know more about some other cultures than you do due to the cultural mix of where I live. That's all.
This really touched me . I'm Dominican and I'm proud to be Latina. Bein Latina is the best thing ever . Idc if we are dark brown or light skin we should treat each other equally becuz we are Latinos and Latinos can be any different types of skin color . It doesn't mean that u need to call them names becuz of their skin color . We're all 1 here. Bein Latino(a) is the best thing ever 😍💪
rican n00b How is that being rude? Typical fool, can dish it but can't take it. She made a nasty comment, I gave a nasty response. See how it goes both ways? Not to mention, her name "Dominicanita Linda" means "pretty little Dominican" when her attitude is anything but pretty. Ironic, don't you think?
Soraya M. 🙌 thank you ! finally someone that knows the truth, most people deny our african dna, but most of us latinos have a small percent, all mixed the same just with different percents, but tbh idc for the term afro latino because thats a term to seperate people, we are all just latino imo
My aunt when she came from Puerto Rico went on a random rant one day because my sisters and I have curly hair. My mother and her have different fathers, my granddad is black and my aunt’ dad is idk (whatever), but they’re both morenas. Her “random rant” was telling my sisters and I over and over that we’re black and she’s not because we have curly hair. She kept saying “ yo no soy negra, yo so India”. My sisters and I all look at each other and laughed in her face, all at the same time told her “and your point?” Lol Puerto Rican Honduran over here, I may be light skinned but I am black
I know many morenas that are Puerto Rican that are truly Taína with their darker skin and pin straight hair and Native features so it’s not crazy to think some darker skin Boricuas are actually more native than black
People try to deny colorism in the Latin community but it does exist and it alienates us Afro-Latinos but our presence shall not be denied. Be proud of your Afro-Latin roots.
@Eros Delorenzi Hush. The grownups are talking.
*PREACH*
and where are you from in Latin America?
Eros Delorenzi actually there is cause I’m one of them (moms black dad is Latino)
Eros Delorenzi your racist for using the term black to describe me and are an uneducated idiot on culture and geography calling me A Black African Made me laugh.
The girl with the bangs is beautiful. 😍😍😍
Nanyal1 oh my gosh is she is she ever I've been having argument with her would be so spicy
Nanyal1 well they are beautiful in their own way though
She is not beautiful
Amina Aden okay, Shes not beautiful....
Shes gorgeous, glowing, pretty etc 😉
I agree!!!!
Another thing that people still don't get but needs to understand, no being AfroLatino does not mean that you have one black parent and one "latino parent". Both of ones parents can be black but still be Latino, you can be 100% black and be Latino.
THIS.
Government Thomy - Or be 100% Asian and still be Latino.
Selena Gomez Acapella just like u can be 100% white n be latino
Yes, basically that the Latinx identity is not about the racial concept, it could never be because is a multicultural/multiethnic, from intercontinental (African, European, Asian - including various types of Asians) and indigenous society since its beginning. Mostly mixed but not completely (saying to avoid that kind of hurtful generalizations). And that each country is so unique and different. Is more of a sense of alliance cultural identity. When people say that is like saying Muslim/Christian is someone’s ethnicity - which is not, is a different category.
The fuck are you eating? Do you even know what LATINo means?
I freaking love black people. Black is Beautiful
Thank you
I'm Puerto Rican born and raised and have beautiful brown skin I love my beautiful brown, black , white people we are all amazing dont matter to me mixed is so beautiful I have 4 sisters 1 is light another is darker than me but I love them no less that wat makes the world soo amazing love each other stop hating or putting each other down cuz of skin color at the end of the day we all are human beings 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷😃😃😃😃🌍🌍👍👍
Alex Arriaza thank you 💯
@Cist Govne There are white hispanics, do you know that?.
Cist Govne agreed
End euro-centric standards
Sapa Inti I thought you were the one who wanted more Indio-Latino videos. If you want that, then it means you do not want to conform with eurocentric standards. Stop being a troll.
Nobody is being anti white, this comment was not hating against white people. It is about embracing your own race and culture. Did you even watch the video?
Yup. Only in a Afro based genre like reggaetón will you only see videos with white girls. Only white girls.
You are basically living in the white man's world. You cannot end something that got you up here.If those features go down then my dear, you'll have to live in the forest then.
Sapa Inti most Latinos have African blood as well. So wtf is your point
Black people are beautiful.❤️
VEGITOO43 yesssssssss!

VEGITOO43. Why thank you. Muchas gracias. Muito obrigado 😍😘💓❤
No shit
I love all my latinos!! From the lightest of skin tone to the darkest, you're all beautiful and unique and worthy of love and happiness!!
Stephy Sarabia All Latinos are racist and that’s a fact
that in and of itself is racist
ana karlaa Y’all hate dark skin people you’re fine them to be unattractive and that’s a fact
Kenneth Challenger I had a very bad experience with Latinos and the hate black People so stop pretend and call it the way it is
Trolling King no, i was born and raised in cuba and i do not have anything against darkskins, light skins, white people, asians, middle eastern people, or anything in between. just because you had a bad personal experience with one latino does not mean we’re all racist or that anyone besides that person is racist for that matter. yes, there are racist latinos and i’ve met some of them but you can’t generalize millions of people because of just one
EMR80 I’m so blown by that. I would have expected that from an American, but a Puerto Rican? Have they not been to Loiza?
He was Colombian and Puerto Rican. But still, how you don't know about these people. There are videos of Puerto Rican's that's look Black to White looking. I think Tego is from Loiza. There's photos from the 1800 Showing Blacks cutting sugar cane.
EMR80 I’m Puerto Rican and Dominican and I just want to say CUBAN FOOD IS SO BOMB
Celia cruz 😍😍😍 every weekend my grandma will play her music. I dont speak spaniah but when i miss my grandma i play celia cruz to feel close to my abuela
@Eros Delorenzi stop listening to your lame history teachers and learn that latino use african culture you attention troll
Mexican and African American :) my parents put it in my head that black is powerful but I also spent a lot of time on my Mexican side and thankfully theyre not racist.
Maryam Rodgers you know Mexicans have a nasty word for blacks and I bet you have used it
Same!! I love being a choco taco lol I embrace both my roots completely.

Dilcia Salvadorians aint black though?
Aaliyah E there can be mixed of their ancestry, my mom told me that a freind of her told my mom there used to be black's in El Salvador but due to mistreatment's the Afro-Salvadorians had to retreat. I might not know fully but I'm going to do my best and research about El Salvador's history.
Manny Hilfiger Any updates or links on the el Salvador history?
Such a cool comment!
Didi d.k.s. 10,000 slaves went to El Salvador, there's no longer a black community there as the assimilated after slavery ended
many people dont understand that people can be both black and latino I am from the dominican republic and I completely understand where my hair comes from, my lips and almost every aspect of my beautiful culture, discrimination in the latino community is real even among our own families
Ivonne exactly they all think that latino is a race 😂
Chicken Nuggets that bothers me so much 😹😹
Ivonne I’m Dominican too and this is what I been saying, the fact we have all these mixes are what makes us beautiful. Dominican and Latina women in general are so gorgeous, we come in all colors and sizes. My daughter is half Dominican and Ecuadorian, so imagine, she’s got black, Spaniard, and indigenous blood in her. I want her to grow up proud of her roots, proud of her curly hair, and I just want her to love herself no matter what ♥️
Ivonne and white latino , latino is not a race , its like our culture you know
Ivonne just because u look a certain way does not mean the rest oof the poulation does so shut the fuck up bitch millions of white and mixed race majority Dominicans that are proud being multi racial with taino blood and proud aswell i have 27% native american blood im a beautiful light tan yellowish Dominican and proud of my color just cause u look a certain way does not mean u get to talk for all domis.
I never realized afro-latinos deal with the same amount of racism as we as African-American blacks do. I'm glad I watched this.
its worse because their culture thinks its okay to do that but here in america we are taught that its bad to be racist
405 BOY tbh, sometimes they deal with even more racism
Who would have thought that racism or descriminatation exists in all cultures and not just in "white" or American ones. Shocker.
405 BOY It stands to reason. The effects of colonization are world wide. Africans were indentured servants all around the world!
Marla deberíamos de subir lo en el Face
Lizzie King eso es cierto, ahí es donde estamos la mayoría de los latinos 😂
Dear, study your ISLANDS HISTORT just a little more!
Over 95 % of you have close African heritage DENIED by your family!
Denied because of the need to survive the Spaniards hatred for all Indians ....WHO WERE DARK as well as The Africans they KIDNAPPED!

Facts tbh is dose not matter if a person who light skin dark skin brown skin orange green yellow at the end of the day we.need to stick together ❤🙏💪

Courageous! It takes a lot of courage and integrity for someone to hold their own mother accountable. Great job!
"Don't date black people, fix the race" I can feel that, I'm ALWAYS hearing my grandma saying this!
LFC Rules fuck your racist as grandma
Trolling King that's not racist we can't forget out past our ancestors our cultures in the future everyone will be mixed and no one will remember what they ancestors where or what they looked like she has a point I'd say date who ever you want but pass on your genes to someone of ur own race ..

chris Don't play dumb. That's not why they're saying that. They don't want any darker relatives with the potential of having stereotypical black features.
Latinos are so fascinating this way. They aren't really native and they aren't really European. They really are everyone. Latinos are the future of a world society I think though.
Currently, there are more Asians then anyone, so I would think there would be more mixed Asians
I know you, i use to watch your videos when i was younger.

Afro native...?
Name an indigenous group that’s black? And Tainos were closely related to Pacific Islanders so not black.
Sapa Inti I meant to say if anything they are related to Pacific Islanders compared to Africans. There’s definitely a connection between Native Americans and Pacific Islanders wouldn’t you agree?

What are you talking about.

What's insane is that they're considered dark in the Latin culture, but in the African American culture they would be considered light.
Not really, I am Afro-latina and I am considered dark skin in the USA. Black people come in all shades even in the Latino community
I am African American. No, not all of them would be considered light skinned. The gentleman from Panama and the young lady from Honduras are not light. The others probably so. Black people come in all sorts of beautiful hues.
They are all darker than my african American mother . So no they would be brown skin
no they're not. They are the same colors that you find typically throughout my family.
A couple of people in these videos are not considered light skin in AA culture.

Super relatable
I’m am an Afro Latina as well and my mom has taught me that black is the dominant gene. A black or colored person can have a baby w/ any race and the baby will look black regardless therefor I identify as black regardless of what others may or may not say 🇧🇿 🇬🇹
I understand how you feel, only think is I'm very light, but have the curly, kinky hair, African nose, and green eyes. I don't fall within any side completely, but identify more with my African roots
"don't hate you because everyone wants to look like you"❤❤
Who disliked this?! This is sending a positive message towards us afro-latinos saying its okay to not be the sterotypical latino. It's ok to be darker and have big curly hair. There's nothing wrong with us. We are still latino. Shame on you people who don't see that. You're on the wrong side of history if you think otherwise.
gabriella cabrera Sadly, it’s probably self-hating Latinos with African ancestry who don’t want to know or acknowledge their roots.
Dhi Bee that's probably the case. I hope they eventually accept themselves and be proud of who they are.
Cause its buzzfeed, everyone hates buzzfeed
gabriella cabrera All Latinos all racist Just accepted that and move one
yeah, latinos can be any race
I love this video and I'm not even Latino. It's so eye opening to our colorism issues in soceity
Omg me too!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'm pretty light. People can't seem to recognize that my dad's my dad.
dark skin is beautiful..love and embrace your culture😆💋💟
Sapa Inti well that’s the root of the problem. Blacks have not been properly educated well enough to discern culture, ethnicity, national origin ethnic etc etc. They resent being black and these type of videos only prove it.
Sapa Inti I don't think she said anywhere tht dark skin was a culture...thank u very much...smh
Respect to every one of them, so inspiring and beautiful! Much love and respect from Denmark
You're welcome sweetie :)
That’s so cute ! I love it, it’s amazing
Lilee D that's lovely we should appreciate everyone
Just like black americans, white and asians :3 so nice our cultures have things in common

Always made me want to deny my latina culture because I didnt feel welcomed...but I have to understand that they're not all like that. Videos like this help me know that I am NOT alone.
Giggles Bloody Murder Latino culture is racist very racist
Giggles Bloody Murder Pelo malo? Our hair is a blessing
Trolling King that’s not true depends on the region but they do believe that white is better but they are too ignorant to realize that they are races

I was always so confused like why is she saying this why is it good that i’mpaler than my family. racism within the latino community is real and it needs to end, all latinos are beautiful no matter the color.
catswiims52 I absolutely know what you are talking about. The same thing happens to me constantly.

Cheese Is Daddy What does Mexican American look like to you?

I don't speak Spanish (I speak French and Kreyol) and I don't feel the need to do so in order to 'pass' for Dominican (being mistaken for being Dominican happens to me regularly now, and it's funny because they always get a surprise when I tell them I don't speak Spanish) I am enough, unique, and valuable, and so are you
I hope this video, help in the process of loving yourself completely.
If you hate being black is because blacks history is a tragedy SLAVERY is the only reason why Blacks are in America period. Get over that, behave normal not trying to impose being black and you will live a normal life.

Fuck yes!
I could relate to this in a deeper level. Being an Afro-latina, you feel like the double the minority. I just did a Tag on this.

Smart Ass 27 salsa from African Americans? How?
Shariq Torres wow thanks, I never knew that.
Puerto ricans will disagree with you
Aaliyah E Bitch, I'm Puerto Rican.
In the music videos they never show Afro latinas 😐
Don Omar?

Tiana Camacho Latina*
Tiana Camacho, You better love your big lips and curly hair, because other people do. But guard your beauty and hold your honor in high regard. Don't be used by people. Find your God; you are lsrael. You are a descendant of Jacob.
God has a way of life for you and His people:
www.straitwaytruth.org
Tiana Camacho biracial is when you mix with black and white....both your parents are Latinos so therefore you Latino
Octavia Lopez bro my mom a black Latina I never said I’m not latina but my ethnicity is latino my race is biracial
Octavia Lopez ethnicity is different for race
I'm Mexican too but very pale. To be honest, I kinda want that caramel color.
I've got that caramel cookie, lucky me hahahaha...
When i was a little girl i wanted to be white. But then when i grew up, i realized that all whites want to be soo tan in summer. And there I am, being tan all year long, because im not black but not white either. Im in between and love it
Cecilia F Yes bitch same. I'm Latina with Brown skin too.
Cecilia F same!
Sapa Inti Mis padres son de Mexico pero yo naci en Los Estados Unidos
My parents are from Mexico but I was born in the United States of America. Also sorry if that Spanish translation is bad I grew up taking English classes only.
Cecilia F I can completely relate, I'm right in the middle. My dad is brighter and my mom is darker, I'm a complete mix.
La Mona? No mija, tu eres lindisima 😍😍😍😍😍
Omar Angel Garcia ❤️
Lovi Flores Como estas? No dejes que estos idiotas te molesten. Otra mas linda que tu, no ay otra 😘
Omar Angel Garcia muchas gracias❤️
Lovi Flores 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Lovi Flores tienes un Instagram amor 😩😍😍🙊?
they are all beautiful!
Brazilians are mostly brown. Different shades of brown.
Love you back :)
Lmao, the guy in the beginning who said "their not black, their brown" was literally me when I was in 1st grade and being teached about Martin Luther King's speach
haha same
African-American and Dominican. Proud Latino and African American. Somos los mejores. ✊🏾
I honestly find it cool when I see an Afro-latino. I usually think "hey that dude is speaking really good Spanish and he's black". It's usually at that point when I remember that being Latino isn't just about being "light-brown"
Francisco Mendez There's so much ignorance within the US and even Latin America about the identity of a Latino /Latina, anyone can be one :)
Mairead ya as long as your raised with the culture, your Latino to me
it's a normal reaction cause most people arent, and it's good, cause not to many slaves were here in latinoamerica.
Lol, can't believe people think being latino means being "light-brown" most of Latinos have light skin.
+dg.g.
actually, more slaves ended up in Latin America than they did in America. It's just that in America, we had segregation, Jim Crow and we didn't have the culture of "fixing the race" aka encouraging Black people to mix with non-Blacks to lighten up.
Love this proud Afro-Dominican !!! ❤️❤️❤️💙 that's one of the main reason that I stopped watching Novelas!!!
Mercedes Lopes I watch Korean dramas now. And SAD cause they are obsessed with bleaching their actors And deforming them with plastic surgery. All countries are crazy now days.
Mercedes Lopes a campaign should be started to stop watching novellas...
This literally made me tear up. Thank you so much for sharing & bringing this awareness to the forefront💚 We need to hear more of Afro-Latinos’ perspective.
I've been working on my Spanish so I was very proud when I realized I wasn't looking at the captions and understood everything that was being said.
No One Yay
This is a very important video I'm glad they made this. Colorism is terrible among the various minority communities. The media doesn't help much to dissolve it. Its up to us teach our future generation and family/friends on how wrong it is discrimination in colorism, ethnicities, and races etc.
It’s sad that people really fight over skin tones and how long brain washing has been passed down through so many generations, we still are having to discuss these same issues. Hate when people rather listen to what other people say then what they actually believe within themselves 😞😖😩
taijae 809 Exactly!
This touched my heart because I’m Latina and I’ve been through this🇵🇷🇨🇺🇩🇴🇸🇻♥️♥️🥺
😂❤️👌🏾yesssss I love this video
The Army what funny ?
The Army indeed👍👍
The Army ARMYYYYYY
The Universe Educational Documentary I'm from Roma and I say you're only Latino if you're from Lazio (Latium) in Italia, land of the original Latinos.
I love this Message Be Confident Guys
ItsZxhari you haven’t even watched the video!!
You dont need to watch the video you can love the message from just the beginning
ItsZxhari okay, XD you just edited your comment making me look like an idiot, forgive me 😂😂
You should't even be joking over something thats serious
You were the third comment you could have used to show others a comments that would say at least love yourself
Finally, A person that's from Honduras
I just want to say that this video make me cry. As a kid i was always put down for being such a high melanin concentration. I've tried self bleaching, and i wasn't even 10 yet. I too have learn that most people related to high social status want my features just not my melanin. I LOVE MYSELF, SO SHOULD YOU. All of us are one of a kind so we should stop aspiring to the status quo, and have our own individual ones. Learn to love, heal, and reveal who you are, not what society wants you to be.
Im Panamanian and Black and Ive encountered so many obstacles within both sides. I am proud of what & who I am !
That's what's up, I was born on Panama
Panamanian is already black it’s just that you a little mixed we need more people to understand that
Nelly Uchiha Not necessarily, at a certain period black and chinese slaves were brought over to Panama to build the canal etc but before then black and chinese people were not indigenous to that area. Every Panamanian is not mixed with black but they/we are mixed with something. At the end of the day we are all mixed with multiple things no matter what it is. I am proud of everything in my bloodline. Legit
Valerie Irina I meant to also mention it depends on where your at in Panama but you’re right
I love this so much, I’m so happy to see AfroLatinos as a movement 🇲🇽🇺🇸
"They're not black, they're dark brown" lol 7 year old me first time in America
Melanin is definitely BEAUTIFUL.
I'm white and English, had no idea about all of this. Interesting video thanks.
Clover Vaira white people are very aware of this they just pretend not to be.
Clover Vaira Yeah Latinos hate black people can’t believe you didn’t know that
That's all.
What do you mean you're white and English? You mean you're American and English or English with Caucasian features?
This really touched me . I'm Dominican and I'm proud to be Latina. Bein Latina is the best thing ever . Idc if we are dark brown or light skin we should treat each other equally becuz we are Latinos and Latinos can be any different types of skin color . It doesn't mean that u need to call them names becuz of their skin color . We're all 1 here. Bein Latino(a) is the best thing ever 😍💪
Valentina Worldwide real talk I get the impression that she doesn't get it
Dominicanita Linda And this attitude of yours is why black people don't care about Latinos being under attack by Trump.
rican n00b oh well
rican n00b How is that being rude? Typical fool, can dish it but can't take it. She made a nasty comment, I gave a nasty response. See how it goes both ways? Not to mention, her name "Dominicanita Linda" means "pretty little Dominican" when her attitude is anything but pretty. Ironic, don't you think?
La chica de Honduras! Wow! Que linda!! Girl crush!!!!
princesssadieloo Sí !!
princesssadieloo aaaawww thanks u girls much Love❤️❤️
Lovi Flores Aww!! You replied!!😀🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗... You are GORGEOUS chica, we Latinos come in all the colors of the rainbow...
princesssadieloo Amen 🙏😘
Sapa Inti Awww... sweet!😉
I love this ❤️❤️❤️ African American and Guatemalan blood flowing through these veins
@@deleon334 thats what she said
Guatemalan? Ew
If ur latino its a 9/10 chance u have African ancestry.... My ppl are so ignorant sometimes, its sad.
Soraya M. 🙌 thank you ! finally someone that knows the truth, most people deny our african dna, but most of us latinos have a small percent, all mixed the same just with different percents, but tbh idc for the term afro latino because thats a term to seperate people, we are all just latino imo
Cheese Is Daddy EXACTLY!!! its all basically the same mix.. What are u?
Soraya M. I mean don't we all have some African in us? The first humans originated from African region.
+Soraya Martin Right on!
Jackie Chin No whites dont have african blood.
Gabe Stagg youre a shithole
I know many morenas that are Puerto Rican that are truly Taína with their darker skin and pin straight hair and Native features so it’s not crazy to think some darker skin Boricuas are actually more native than black
Christine P. Those are some but not the majority
I am mixed too! I have a white puerto rican dad and a black dominican mom!
Yassss finally a Hondurannnnnnn !! 🇭🇳🇭🇳 SOoOoOo pretty btw !!
I love ALL these "pero like" videos, being a chicano i can relate to all of em, sending love from LA ❤❤❤❤
