This cable is listed under a GM recall. It doesn't matter if you're the original or 3rd owner - take it to any GM dealership and they'll replace it free.
Not sure if the time has run out or what, but I just called my local Chevy dealership about my 2012 Cruze with this issue and they said there weren’t any open recalls and wanted to charge me $200 just for diagnostics 😩
Just buy the negative battery cable with part #. About $23 . I did 3 weeks ago and solved the problem on 2012 Chevy Cruze ls. Pocodes erased and never came back on. Battery voltage not fluctuating now, no stabiltrak on or radio issues. $23 u have not to lose,,,try first
This is like a smooth R&B tutorial... *lol* Anyway, I replaced my battery and alternator trying to fix this problem on my 2016 Chevy Cruze. I'm glad I found this fix! Will try this today and hopefully this will fix it. **Fingers Crossed**
In my case I had a bad diode then a bad battery too!. So all said & done this caused well over $500 in problems (with me doing the labor). My 1st cruze had none of these issues & ran past 305k miles. Idk what in the world "inadequate crimp". Obviously somebody knew if they dont crimp the cable right at the factory gonna be big problems! GMs own suppliers must actively sabotoge GM!
Thanks for the info! My wife's 2015 Cruze has been experience issues with no crank, radio going off, etc. Sometimes when the car would not start, I would check the negative battery cable and it would be HOT! Burned my finger one time on it. Cable is only $29 at O'Reilly's so gonna get that ASAP.
I have a 2014 Impala and I had the same exact issue and I replaced the battery fuse block and wiggled the ground wire and the same problems you had went away. I will be replacing the negative wire soon.
I have a 2013 I hate this piece of shit only reason I got it thought I was getting a deal when I paid it in full the most crappie cars ever Chevy needs to do a call back on all of em and give us all a free damn car this is so inconvenient for me pissed
So check this out, I did this fix and it solved my problems for about a month and a half and everything was perfect - now in the present day, the problem is come back, and I have no idea why. I can't find any of the forums anybody doing the negative battery cable fix and the problem actually coming back. Anybody have any ideas? Sometimes I'll pull up to a stoplight and the problems will be so bad that I have to shut my car off.
I have a 2014 sonic,my radio turns on and off, goes through the stations, volume goes up and down, radio will come on with no key in, and sometimes while I driving the transmission go into limp mode and feel like it's going through all the gears, the doors will even lock and unlocked like it's going between drive and park, when I disconnect the battery it clears it up,for a few days then starts doing it again. I think my car needs saging. Lol.
I believe this happens in some 2016s too. I have a 2016 but everything seems to be a 2015 model parts wise. Must have been like overstock or something.
Did your car also have any power at one point because mine does that but now there’s no power at all not even when u open the door they just replaced the ground wire for me n told me it’s running but still could have electronic issues
Mine affected 5 things. Bad negative battery cable made my ECU think I was having timing problems p0016. It went off as well after 3 run cycle after battery cable replacement
I have a 014 Cruze. It's throwing a U0101 code, and says no TCM communication. Also says eletrical issue. It stays in limp mode, Stability light illuminates, TCM illuminates, doesn't show the PRNDL. Can this cable be the culprit?

You need to change the effected part. If you are in AZ, the heat is killing the longevity of the spray.
sorry wrong reply. Take it to the dealership so they can change to cable
Coil pack or bad alternator
I’ve this issue probably four times now. Every few months or so it need a med cable.
Thank you so much for this !!!!
My car was having these problems now it won’t start. It’s draining my battery could that still be because I need to replace this cable?

Yeah mine used to do the same until I change that negative battery cable. I no longer have the car but it worked.
Can this also be the problem for 2011?
Yes
Was wondering this as well. My wife's car has similar issues. Thanx for the video

Have u solved ur issue. My car is doing the same?
I’ve heard this can contribute to the power steering acting up

Yes it's possible. This code calls for:
Repair damaged wiring or connectors.
Repair ground connections.
Replace TCM.

They said it wasn't covered
Go to the auto parts store and do it yourself. Takes no more than 30 minutes
My car has no warranty. I just got this issue fixed for free at a chevy dealer
Why does this even have thumbs down? Lol its pretty straightforward. I guess some people couldnt figure it out
Because it quite often is not the solution as claimed by this and other vids.
