- Why I'm Driving A Tesla For Uber?
Everyone keep s asking so here is a single video that SHOULD answer that question, why am i driving a Tesla Model Y for Uber and Lyft. My belief is the pivot is down for rideshare so I am getting ahead of it by learning the in's and out's of the Tesla ecosystem and so far, the results are good. Hopefully this will satisfy the curious community.

I just picked up my new model 3 RWD about three months ago. Been thinking about getting into this. You’re the one Uber driver out there that gives it to me real. Real talk, real numbers. I appreciate you! Thanks for taking the time to do this for us.
You are absolutely correct. If all I can get is X rides in my area, I am going to buy an X worthy vehicle. No more X rides in my A8! Everyone is looking for more money with inflation. Hence more drivers on the road.
Hey man, I really liked your video. The electrification of cars excites me as I love the thought of going for a run and NOT breathing in car fumes. But to tell the truth the thing I love even more is the fact that they need less maintenance. I like the thought of machinery working for a very long time and was wondering if you could break down how much you drive in a year and if the Tesla costs a lot in maintenance and how long your cars normally last (eg 200k miles) vs how long your Tesla lasts. I watched another video with Kim Java where she interviewed a guy that does 100k miles a year and his Tesla lasted 120k before the battery lasted.
I like your content, keep it coming!
We are going to try!!
Facts the pivot is definitely down I appreciate the shout out
They will learn!
thank you for your honesty
Most Realest Vid On The Tesla Rideshare Experience Thanks
Appreciate that!! Thank you!
I don’t know if you know this Vinny, but you can register the Tesla since it’s an EV with Florida as a low-emissions HOV vehicles and that will allow you to take I-95 Express without paying for the tolls. Just another benefit. I cut the times on those premier rides from Boca to Miami quicker man.
When I’m in Boca I always see Suburbans parked out front of The Boca Raton resort. The pivot really is down. And the Tesla is the perfect balance imo.
I did NOT know that and will def look into that because THAT toll is ridiculous at times, THANK YOU!! And yes, I've seen them there but I'm seeing them everywhere now parked outside of hotels. That hopium for a ride is nuts enough with gang parking like that. Thx boss!!!
The Tesla Content is fire!!! Awesome !
Thank you brother Ron!!
Thank you for posting your Tesla 'testing'.
More people want to know so we are going to keep going!! Thank you for the support!!
To Davis. Yes your correct but to get that type of Tesla the rental is higher ,
Great info. Your boy Thomas in Tampa does taxes?
Thx!!! Idk if he does taxes but he is very informed when it comes to accounting. If you want to get in contact, here is his new channel. @ohthomas1973

@@VinnyKuzz hopefully it will pick up today threw Sunday let’s see
Hello Vinny. I drive for Uber and Lyft just part-time. I usually work around the airport for a quick ride or two. I want to share a story that I was told by passenger I picked up last week and as matter fact today to they were telling me that drivers were approaching and asking them to take them for certain amount of money From the rideshare airport pick up area !!! this is very strange because Washington airport (IAD) it’s the most secure airport tons of police everywhere but this show you that this big car drivers are so desperate to risk everything to hustle for job or two. I think XL block black SUV are hurting. They’re not making any money at all and they’re trying to make it somehow
100%!!! They are risking everything because they are feeling the pinch and that is not necessarily the apps fault. Drivers see opportunity to make more money without proper permits or insurance and riders are willing to save a few bucks by taking the rides off app. These SUV's took a shot at making more money but the apps are squeezing down payouts as more SUV's are available. As I say, they are playing the long game, thats why the Suburban took that comfort ride LOL.
FYI with Regen, the power you put into the battery was the power you took out. In fact, you get back less than what you put in. There's no free lunch in physics.
I believe the problem with high speeds is wind resistance becoming a bigger factor after a certain speed. Still trying to find the sweet spot with my Tesla.
Agreed that we get back less but we do get back some LOL. It extends the amount of battery for that session. As for long distance, we are just using a steady stream of power vs gas so don't think we can really change that but we will see LOL.
Do you do regular X rides at all? If not, do you stay busy NOT doing 'X'?
I run about 40 to 50 hrs a week uber/Lyft i am buying an ev im having a hard decision to make on which vehicle as they are priced equally. What is your opinion between a Kia EV 9 or a cadillac Lyric i run strictly newark airport and philly airport from Jersey the kia seats 6 and is huge and the lyric is a 4 seater im leaning towards the kia for xl electric what do you think sir?
I look at which vehicle is going to give me the most platforms vs earning potential so I say vehicles that can do X/XL or XL/Premier with a vehicle that can do X,XL,Premier. With that said always remember these apps can switch up vehicle requirements on a dime, they are notorious for that. With my Caddy, I can do everything except Premier SUV but I only do XL/Premier with it. ON Lyft, I do XL/BLACK/Blk SUV. With the Tesla model Y, I do uber comfort, comfort electric and Blk. Hope this helps, think bigger picture and what your market will support.
Slightly off topic, do you have the latest software update? And did our "unlock" function just get deprecated? I can't figure out how to unlock all the doors as I'm about to pick up a group of people. The only way is if I put the car in full park, waiting for the car graphics to rotate and expand and present me with the unlock icon.
The updates seem to be slow sometimes but I think im up to date. I prefer to allow only the driver door to unlock and I unlock the others when Im ready to let people in LOL.
@@VinnyKuzz 1.5 days later my icon magically appeared back in it's usual spot. So weird!
@Vinni K. Dammend! you came through! like a Boss and crystal clear ! on all this Zhit! thanks Bro!
Appreciate it, we are doing our best!!
I was getting reservations that were over 2 hours away for a 10 minute ride. After complaining for some time I had them removed me from that. Makes no sense why they would send me those requests.
I hear ya, guess it depends on your market. I occasionally get RSVP for rides 30 miles away so I just skip over them LOL.
I know in Los Angeles you need like an LLC, Commercial insurance, a bunch of stuff to drive Uber black, is it not the same for Florida/Miami?
Only in certain markets but not in Miami/FLL/WPB. We dont have Uber black, we have Premier which is the same basically. We have Lyft Black, Black SUV but again nothing extra is needed. It all depends on the city reg's and bought politicians.
You don’t need a LLC or commercial insurance in Los Angeles for Uber Black. Visit a hub and you can do it.
@@iJoshuaVentura Don’t you need commercial insurance?
@@ZavHustlesyes you do need commercial insurance plus 4.8 start rating and another background check
So I was looking into the Lyft black suv do you think it’s worth getting a 2021 caddy truck trying to do at least 4-5 rides a day. Not trying to do the all day driving
Such a tough question as markets vary. IF your market can support the cost during the worst of times the yes. everyone make money when times are good but most struggle when things are slow.
I’m glade u posted this: I was renting a Tesla Y for $573 weekly Which was full of crap. Because they say it would be busier in which it was but it was filled with a variety of X to BLACK however I only got BLACK rides MAYBE once a day but mostly Uber X and comfort Which I felt like I was driving more because the trips were not always bigger trips. Plus, charging took up time.
Now I just bought me a 2024 Toyota Camry SE for $516 monthly with Rideshare Endorsement insurance for $341 monthly. So I find my self not doing UBER as much because they always send me far away for pickup with less pay and LYFT pays more NOW. And I find my self working less and getting paid wayyyyy more with Lyft without even doing any long Airport runs. TESLA are not the right car. At least not for me. I feel like, certain cars can make money plus the market ur in determins the money u can make and which App ur using. UBER right now, is NOT working for me LYFT is a little better at the MOMENT. But who knows it could change next week.
Exactly.. not need a tesla to make money and paying those ridiculous rental fees… might as well buy one!!!
Totally agree this was my experience with the Tesla also
Where are you driving, what market?
LA
You are absolutely right bro. I was confused should I go for Tesla or not, But now I have made up my mind. I'll buy a Tesla ASP. Does anybody know how much it costs to charge the battery of a Tesla Model S?
Battery replacement is E X P E NSIVE but so are engines/transmissions LOL
That's actually what I'm tryna do know with my rental. 2024 Nissan Altima standard from Hertz. just paying 256week. Tesla out of my reach. by using lift and skipcart food delivery app I'll be able to achieve about the same 11 to 12 hundred a week to pay rental and my bills.
The hustle is real, do what you have to do with what you have. No shame in an Altima!!!
Vinny does the model y quality lux suv black?
No unless you get the third row but trust me, there is no room for actual people back there LOL. Make sure you check your market though to make sure!
Thank u
You are Welcome, hope it helps!
new to your channel where you based at? i am up in boynton and drive black like you do
Im in Ft Lauderdale but obviously I get up and down our region. LFG!!
I agree! That's why our Rideshare company uses the blockchain platform so all drivers keep their full payments and not have to share it with any middle man. Plus they pay us residual income for all our referrals (drivers, riders) Let's unite.
What specifically are you talking about...as in laymen's terms. Please do tell so I can learn more.
Shoot in my market I’m making 1k fri-sun 12 hr a day with a Toyota Corolla but the seats are very uncomfortable
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! I'm a firm believer in that concept but I wanted to get into the Tesla for the science and now I really like the car.
@@VinnyKuzz do you think a MY or suburban would be more profitable? I’m also in the south Florida market
Hey Vinny a question for u, how much u can make driving 8 hours a day only for Lyft 5 to 6 days per/ week average? I have a XL car Tks.
Depends on your market and platforms, I dont think anyone could honestly answer that question. I've has days where I earn only $50 and then the next day earn $500. There is no promise of earnings.
@@VinnyKuzzyes I understand, but there’s a average. Like I live in LA and I drive for Lyft only since 2017 I can tell u a average here o day u can make! So about there where u live what’s the average for 8 hours? Do u think 150 or 200 p day?
Requires almost no maintenance as well
good morning ,let me ask u something to drive premier with uber the vehicle need to be black on black
No, Premier isn't based on color just the type of car.
If you go below 70 mph that helps the battery to
I've learned this quickly haha. Exact opposite of a gas car.
I just signed up for a free nights electric plan so now I'm charging for free. And I have a mall 2mi away with a DC Fast charger for free.
Fr now, Im sticking with the Super tesla Chargers for the data.
How long did it took you to get the car from whip rental? And what's the price for the model y
Took a few weeks to clear all the paperwork and background stuff then I had to wait for the Model Y to become available. Once they had one, it took a couple of days. Im at $499 per week with ALL insurances and taxes.
When you say Couple of days from Uber and Lyft to approve the car do you need to have an inspection as well ? Just try to find the turn around from when they give you the car and you can start working
@@VinnyKuzzwow almost $500 a week !!! Is that hurt you long run?
@@VinnyKuzz RENTING is such a rip off. Because if u add up the money ur dishing out plus ur everyday living. I did it ONLY because I didn’t have a car but it was a REAL STRUGGLE I dnt wish that on nobody…. It sounds good with Insurance and etc but it’s not not because I found myself working everyday all day damn near just to give half of my money to the rental place and it made me not want to do rideshare. But now that I have my own car, I can actually put that money that the rental place was getting to other things. The only I learned Frm renting Is HOW TO HUSTLE, lol. So my $350 to $500 per day is ALL MINE and I make that less 8 hours a day. I can’t breathe now. lol
Here is my take on a Tesla , in order to make 1200 a week now , your working 7 days a week or 10 hour days 6 days a week , by the time you pay rental and insurance and charging you have 500 into it , net profit of 700 divided by 56 hours is $12.60 an hour , you can work at a fast food place and earn 16 an hour
If you’re driving Uber black with a model Y 20-25 hours will get you there.
That's fair but that can be said for any vehicle if we do the numbers honestly. Also, we have to take into account that number of requests we turn down ( money lost) IF we are going to say that every hour we are on the app is counted.
My active hour revenue is very high so I'm working on efficiency more than anything.
The tesla takes to long 2 charge u can be making extra money instead of waiting 2 charge
Hybrid better option even a luxury hybrid
I am making $1000 5 days a week with a Corolla.. the clue us not a tesla.. rental fee is to expensive..
The CLUE IS CASH RIDES..
You combine decent app rides with good paying cash rides and bam, you get $1000 a week
Not needto pay the astronomical amount of $500 just for rental plus charging fees thay may come to $550 a week!!!
Nahhhh..With a little cheap ass Toyota you can do it!!!
@nicolas12730 even paying rental if u hustle u can still make 2400 a. Week 300-400 daily
I remember in one of your videos …after all expense driving the Tesla ,you made about $500 or so profit .. can you justify a good reason on renting a Tesla to do Uber or Lyft ! I just think I’m better off driving my own car for $500 profit !
Renting is worth it. Your gonna ruin whatever vehicle you use for rideshare.
Right now, with everything changing with payouts and the slowing economy i think yes because i am not obligated to a 5,6 or 7 year car payment in case I decide to bail out on rideshare. I see the whole house of cards coming to a inflection point very soon and I don't want to get caught in it.
If your civic is generating you what you need with income then I wouldn't change a thing, keep making your money that way.
Reserve rides = 1 HOUR Offline PRiOR to ride start time so that you are not in a far away area and can’t get back to the reserve rider’s pickup location - I stopped taking them
For me, it depends on time and day and if i'm just starting my day or ending it. I caught one 2 days ago, end of shift, that paid out over $200 after tip so it just depends.
If u do not except all trips how do u keep your excepting rate above 85%
Very hard to do, my acceptance rating hovers between 60% and 75% depending on what platforms I'm driving on.
I drive in a model 3. If I had to buy fuel, this would be worthless. Saving on fuels great.
Its like found money that we didn't know we are spending! Until people experience it, they have no clue.
Do you know how to get the Uber app work on the car screen
TH-cam it
I went and got a job delivering med and I make 17 hour 12 hours a day Uber Lyft on the weekends 6hours then play with the wife uber and Lyft just money on the side plus cover my child support when it comes out of my check
The only car I can drive this days for Uber and Lyft is a beat up civic or Prius for their shitty prices . I will never touch my mdx for their junks
Understandable, most drivers have that same mindset. They are def forcing us to make decisions that hurt both us and them.
Its absurd that i knew this 6 months ago when i started with uber before i bought my model y. But, uber just aint sending me the rides!!!! What am i doing wrong??😂
Started out at 1200 a week pretty easy. and the last month and a half they dont want to send me shit. Idk
The economy is playing havoc on the rideshare game, people just don't have the money to keep using these apps. Market dictates everything, even here in South Florida where we are in our season, it is sloooooow.
@@VinnyKuzz hear ya brother
Jan and Feb are the slowest months... wait until march
This was a good video no bullshit if you don’t have a Tesla and you’re still doing rideshare in 2024 you are actually losing money
man, Eddie has taught me well along with the other guys and the apps want us using the EV's so gotta do what we gotta do! Big ups Kerry!!!
What if you drive a 2024 Xse toyota sienna hybrid
I keep stressing this to people. The teslas are where the money is I switched up from renting to buying recently to really maximize the profit.

Hertz is getting rid of their fleet. Shoukd be less tesla drivers now

Everyone complaining about making less than minimum wage what about truck drivers they don’t count every single minute they are in the truck when the truck is moving that’s when they make their money I hate that people compare this to a hourly rate job you can’t compare the two. The best metric for this gig is $/mile not hourly pay.
I drive a Tesla Model 3 in AZ. I love it. Riders like it and they tip. I tend to do more airport runs.
Most riders have never been in a Tesla so they seem to enjoy it and YES, tips have gone up!!
Did you purchase the vehicle, or are you on a leasing program with uberlyft
Im leasing at the moment thru Drivewhip.com.
@@VinnyKuzzdid you fly out to pick it up? It says location DC.
New to the channel; question, how do you average $20 or more per Uber ride like that? Does it require a lot declining sitting and waiting? Thanks
My market is an open market meaning we have a lot of distance so the payouts tend to be more because we have to go a longer distance, doesnt always add up but that would be one reason, I do select my rides based on my factor of $30 per hour or better bu that because Im in an EV, when I drive mt Caddy the rules change up.
I actually got offered a $30 ride for 55 minutes last night but declined it thinking the $7 5 to 10 minute rides pay more. Guess I should start looking at doing those long trip rides more often.
Siempre estoy agradecido con Lyft_Crack, quien pudo reactivar mi cuenta y me presentó un capturador de bots que me permite tomar más pedidos y ganar mucho dinero ahora mismo. Realmente aprecio sus esfuerzos.....
Nahhh.. long rides for a bigger amount doesn’t mean you are making money
You deive 55 minutes (30-40 miles) and than another 39-40 miles back.. for $30 bucks!!! Hell no!!!!
That should be at least $55-$60..
if is a short pick up, i will go thi the rider and tell him “ listed, i am not getting pay on the app, if you like i do the ride outside of the app for $60.. if he decides to do it in the app, cancel it and tell him to wait for next driver!!
Dont sell yourself for cheap.. long drives doesn’t mean money
Would be better to just buy a used tesla vs renting.
Eventually yes, agreed. I'm just not ready yet, need to take care of a few things first. Its coming!!
I wouldn't rent a suburban to drive for 15$
But your paying 499 for the car so it’s really like 600-700
Agreed but keep in mind, the rental price is 100% write off for me. I am very aware of the cost but for me, it's worth it considering the benefits for me.
I'd ask you to breakdown your expenses for any vehicle and see that we all have a cost to pay.
@@VinnyKuzz my brother I'm doing the same ! Was unsure of how to do taxes my first year driving with a rental . I've made 100k in 10mon driving -40k Uber Fees + costs to rent. Some ppl tell me write off the miles instead of expenses to drive.
@@VinnyKuzzis there any game you can offer for taxes when it comes to writing off costs to rent .. use the miles for taxes or write off expenses. I'm just looking to come out even or get some moneys back 💯👌🏽 thanks for your videos just subbed
@@42horne 100k in 10 months? What city are you doing uber in?
Wait, you said you consistently make about $1200-$1300 a week, possible working 50 hours a week. It cost about $500 to rent a Tesla, plus another couple hundred for that week to drive enough miles to make $1200. That leaves you with what, $500-$600. So you are renting a Tesla to end up making around $10-$12 an hour? Let's say it cost $400 to rent a Tesla, and only $150 to charge it for the week.. that's still about $13-$14 an hour. Am I missing something here? Really trying to understand the financial benefits of this.
Sooooooooo I'm earning the 1200 to 1300 per week, my hours are reducing as I learn the market for my platforms for the Tesla. What most forget is when I state the lease is short term to see IF its worth it to make the purchase. Renting is model Y is 499 all in plus roughly $100 for charging so yes I'm only earning 2x the cost in this scenario. If I wanted to put more hours in, my earnings would go up, an example is if i added mornings shifts to my rideshare schedule. So far, I have not.
If i make the purchase, my overall cost would reduce about 30% but my exposure increases so while I understand i'm working the worst case scenario, Im still making decent money and IF i put a little more time then it would go up. Hope this helps.
@@VinnyKuzz Yeah I got you now. Although putting in more time doesn't equate more money, time is not free,is your life too. Because the bottom line is yes you can put more time in, but is not like putting more time in a regular job where you get guaranteed overtime. In rideshare more time is the same amount of money per hour or less. I guess what I am saying is you can put more time but it is still $15 an hour or less. Here in Houston Texas $15 an hour is horrible money, a decent one bedroom apartment, in a decent neighborhood goes for around $1200 a month, get a cheap one bedroom apartment in a no so decent neighborhood and it still $1000 a month. This is just minimum,it goes way up from these 2 examples. I don't know man, wish you the best of luck, but it seems to me there's no point in doing rideshare anymore if you can not get guaranteed around $30 an hour minimum. Specially if you want to buy a $50k vehicle that you need to spend $10k every year to replace the battery if you plan to drive it full time and put in about 6000-7000 miles a week.
You make more than I do driving a 18 wheeler @ $31.20 per hour 5 days a week!!!!😳
Im not sure about that but Id think truckers do well?
Extra comfort is a dang scam. Id rather just do regular lyft than extra comfort
facts and if you want to drop down to an X ride you dont look stupid as a suburban taking it
Don't worry about what others say, Tesla's are the way
Strongly agree I'm planning on it so what people think it the way to go
I'm all in on the tesla, others will have to catch up HAHAHA!
Both Uber and Lyft have made pledges to be “climate neutral”, but should be making EVs the top priority to send ride requests. Besides the cost of the cars, charging, there’s an huge time cost (in charging) that puts EVs at a disadvantage. Thus should be the priority for the apps, and maybe stock bonuses.
😂😂😂
Tesla drivers that rent are losing their ass, and if you buy one you lose your ass when it breaks out of warranty .

@@42horne what city are you in?
You make 60k working 100 hrs a week. Not that good
I only saved 4k of gas in 2023
WOW!!!
Driving a Tesla for Uber and renting is a waste of time in most places for two reasons. One is a lack of superchargers in a lot of areas and two is the underestimated drive time in a Tesla, Unless you want to do 25mph in the city all day long. Supercharging, for what it gives you in mileage is just as expensive as gas.
Interesting as Im finding city driving to be more efficient than highway driving, the exact opposite of an ICE car. As for charging networks, I'd agree they need to be available if you cant charge at home. We have many chargers in my area.

How is it so far ? I’m looking to get a model y to jump into those black rides and possibly grab some private clients .
@@ChinoEEE it's a great jump to help you determine the black market for your area and how you want to work it, if it turns out the market isn't that great then you still have a great car for all the other types of rides. Especially when you compare getting an Escalade or Suburban with the gas prices. You just have to watch out for a scenario where you might be picking up six elderly people. That's tough getting two in the back seat. Actually, what's really tough is getting them out. Easy enough to just turn off XL most of the time. Once you succeed at getting 30 to 50 clients then you can consider jumping to the Suburban or Escalade. At that point they will be paying for the gas!
@@hgodtx that’s exactly my plan . Being able to still do Uber x is a deal breaker for me so I can run Uber x during surges/bonuses and then turn on the higher tier rides.
