It’s funny what Sig decided to keep and not keep in their hammer fired line up. There is certainly a market for them, of course the question is, is it truly big enough to keep production happy and / or will we even see a resurgence in hammer fired guns? We’ve seen all metal versions of the 320 so there seems to be an appetite for that. The used hammer fired guns in the $550 to $800 range don’t seem to last long on the shelf. My guess is they can’t be produced new in that price range and still be profitable , thus the dilemma.
A nearby sheriffs office had these “they didn’t like em” it was for the detectives however, it was right around the era of striker fired M&Ps arriving. I have E2 Grips on my Sig P226.
Well it’s an interesting set up for sure, ever so slightly lighter and shorter than a 229 but noticeable , but with the extended mag your back to the same height of the 229. It’s actually a very nice shooting gun, if I’m not mistaken it has the same dimensions as the rather rare 229 compact which I believe was only offered in .40 for a short period of time. If the detectives were running them without the extended mag, certainly more concealable but then not as nice to shoot.
Thanks, Totally agree and so odd, HK has them, I always ran a pinky extension on the g26 I had….not sure how anyone at sig thought chopping the grip down that much and then not offering anything like that was a good idea. And of course it wasn’t offered long enough for an aftermarket company to come along and make one. Thus my comment about the Sig extended mag - they did get that right but discounted them along with the gun. Neat p series gun just some odd features to it.
It’s a great little p series gun, slightly smaller than the 229 and in fact I think it was essentially the same slide size as the very elusive 229Carry which I believe was only offered in . 40. Where did you get or what type of pinky extension were you able to find?
@ So the P229C, which I also own uses the same TDL but not the standard P229. I’m learning spare parts are not readily available for the P224 or P229C. Hope someone will make a few soon, I do believe there is a demand.
@@danaoneal1 that’s coming back to me now, both of those are not easy to come by. I’d still call Sig as I would think they’d still have to support those pistols at some level.
@@thedailydefender1408 you would think, I did, they don’t. Or at least not any parts they are willing to sell the end user. I may call them and see if I can send the whole gun to repair.
It’s really a shame they didn’t take it one step further or develop it more. You do notice the smaller size and weight over a 229 but I agree you have to have an extended mag to get the grip. All it really needed was a pinky extension…..
I have one of this baby. it is fantastic. Yes the grip is too short for big hands. but I am using p226 mag. and 3d printed for 15 round one. and extention for original mags. it is very comfy. recomend it. if anyone interests can be supplied.
It's a shame Sig discontinued this. IMO with the current demand for CCWs, they should revive it with a 2.0.

I love it. It really does with that sleeve and extra rds.

It is kind of odd that Sig didn’t offer a pinky extension, especially since they were already offering them on the 238 and 938. Great Presentation! 👍👍

They do. A magazine extension is available which extends the handle.
I have the 224 with an aftermarket pinky extension replace base plate on magazine, able to get three finger grip.

I used a Pearce pg-xd pinky ext on this it's the most missed perfect ccw pistol of all time 😢 can't fix Glock stupidity lol
The base plate from the 2022 can be used and provides the pinky extension
For 1 less round, the P239 offers a full grip and a flatter profile, along with an unobtrusive yet usable stub hammer.
You make good point……
Mec gar plus 2 extension helps the pinky to wrap around
The original one? they have the 228 or 229-1versions. Or just the plus two
@@carlosmoya2261 the plus 2
For the 229-1 mags
Do you have any spare takedown levers for the P224? Got one for a great price but the TDL is broken.
I don’t but I believe the 224 shares many of the same parts with the 229 , maybe 228 or 226, Sig will know if you call them.

I didn’t know of the 224. Interesting gun. I have small hands and I don’t think I could hang on to it with two fingers!

It’s an acquired taste but I think it’s a pretty cool pistol too, and is noticeably smaller than the 229, not by a large margin but noticeable.
Good video
Thank you.
