It reminds me of when TH-cam first came out. The studios did all these DMCA takedowns and it only hurt their business, they were literally preventing their products/shows being promoted with clips and reviews, they should have been ENCOURAGING IT! Giving access to deleted scenes etc Most of them eventually did realise that this is good business, to not challenge anything but there are still a few idiots, the BBC is one of them. There is a wonderful series about Elizabeth I (one of the few that are both good and historically accurate) from 1971 called Elizabeth R and it had 6 parts like movies. They took it down, but you can't stream it online legally either, and the dvds are hard to find. F---g stupidity

I still can't get over the size of the warp core of the Enterprise D as it expands 12 decks going from the duterium storage tanks on deck 31 to the anti-matter injectors on deck 42.
Every corridor, room, and turbolift has memories. It feels like returning home after many years. So sad to see just an empty ship, but this project has so much potential if the greedy Ferengis would get out of the way. 🖖
The Enterprise-D is my favourite Enterprise. Regarding its exterior, but especially its *interior* design, it has a certain elegance and classyness that all others somehow lack. Its interior is also much less dark and "cold" than on the other Enterprises; very inviting. I would love to spend a few days on board!
Imagine every episode recreated but you are only a civilian. Cant enter the bridge and would hear all the rumors in ten forward. Playing in the holodeck, sleeping in Deana Trois bed, watching the Stars and even borg-ships from the window. I swear to god i would pay a subscription for this!
One Idea, that screams in my Head: How about you contact the Guys behind "Star Trek Online", this is a million Times better, than the current Ship innards in the Game.
Star Trek Online uses an archaic engine, one simply not capable of handling this sort of level of detail. They would need to gut the game and switch everything over to unreal 4 which sounds easy, but it's not and would likely require years with their current staff. Simply not in the budget for a 10 year old MMO that has been on its last legs several times.

CBS shut this amazing project down because they couldn’t stand the fact that a group of designers and artists without a blank check budget could make something better than them. They also hated the idea of something being made that wouldn’t instantly stuff their pockets. For a company that owns the rights to a franchise about moving past the concept of financial gain and money, CBS Viacom is one of the greediest in the entire industry.
I know if it wasn't for CBS then you could take this in so many ways from just a episode or favorite episode point of view or here's you playing as the whole crew or just a personal favorite member or make your own character

We need a good STAR TREK 'wheel' format series (for those unfamiliar with the term, it's 3 or more independent series that share a similar theme or universe and may or may not cross over with one another). I've been publicly harassing Paramount/CBS to do a TREK wheel series since the early 90's when I was covering the various TREK films and series in print and later online at IGN FilmForce. There have been a lot of good series ideas over the years but they might not be something that you can keep going for 7 seasons, the studio's traditional target for TREK series since TNG. Some examples that keep coming up are "Starfleet Academy" and an episodic series that takes place aboard a Klingon starship. Great ideas but you'd be hard-pressed to get 22 episodes per season with either one. It lets you do a limited-run series where you've got a complete story in a 6 episode arc and another that uses the classic episodic format where you get the whole story in an episode or two and then move on. You can also do one-shots where you give a supporting character a 90-minute showcase. Most importantly, it gives you the opportunity to revisit the series that helped make TREK what it is. Do six episodes of an updated DS9 (I don't know about anyone else but I'd love to see the episode the original DS9 writers plotted during the "What We Left Behind" documentary and the episodes that would follow it), follow up on the fates of the VOYAGER crew, particularly the Maquis members of that crew. The potential is enormous.
Just looked at the walkthrough, looks fantastic and getting so much better with the next version. Be great to interactively have a virtual crew to work with on a mission..
This is less emphases on the potential of the Unreal Engine and more of the devotion that recreated the structure itself and I am sure further details and effects will be added. Once that is complete, imagine the fan fiction that can be 'green-screened' in.
It wasn't a stop and go landing so much as a stuck and go :P This build of the project had a bug where it was super easy to get the shuttle stuck in the shuttlebay door. I tried to play it off all cool.
I've downloaded it, you can still find it on the web :) Is crouching not possible (change camera perspective)? I'm asking because I need this for my project, taking some screenshots.
Wish we could have seen more of the areas of the ship that were never featured in the show. The main shuttle bay is amazing... it really shows the immense size of the D.

I think there was another one of these that had the Head in the bridge area--and there were the three seashells on a shelf ala Demolition Man. It was a nice touch. :)

If I were CBS, I would have used cease and desist leverage to get the author to license this work under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. Then, once the project reached a satisfactory state, I would have taken it and hosted it on the main Star Trek website. 1. The fans would get to freely use this virtual tour. 2. I (CBS) would have kept a pretty high degree of control over my intellectual property. 3. I would have a positive image with the fans. 4. I would have paid nothing.
I really don't care who supposedly makes this a VR thing but someone needs to make sure this is VR compatible and make sure that Sir Patrick Stewart can see this for his birthday

I still have this game/simulation, but the controls are unclear to me. Sometimes you can do something, other times you cannot. I have seen video's in which people can set a course to DS9, I tried, but I cannot make it happen. Does anybody know which button at the helm to press to go to a certain place?

I want to point out that I did not create this project. Unfortunately there will never be any more progress on this. However, there is a VR version available and I have the download link in my other video for the last released version of the project, v0.0.10. You'll need a torrent client to download as the website for the project no longer exists.

There's a bathroom on the bridge across from the door that leads to the observation lounge. It's never shown in the show, but official plans show that it is. Like everything else, it was planned to be modeled but was never completed

@@Deathmonkey7 much respect, but, I think you're wrong here while the image might distort slightly when the camera moves, fact is that screen wasn't a window to the outside, nor did they take the time to simulate it as such. it was a screen, and walking around it would not have changed the angles. it might have been filmed as a green screen, I don't know, but I doubt they would have sync'd the screen's contents to the relative position of the camera to make it look like a window, when it was never window to begin with. but I'd be surprised and delighted to be proven wrong if you can find a youtube clip
@@ErikKnepfler The screen seemed to be holographic. For example: When they were talking to a person on another ship, and the camera was looking at the viewscreen from the side, you could see the side of the person's face, instead of just a flattened picture of the person. So it makes sense that the view on the screen would move as your point of view shifts.

There's a bathroom on the bridge across from the door that leads to the observation lounge. It's never shown in the show, but official plans show that it is. Like everything else, it was planned to be modeled but was never completed

That's not actually true. In the show, any time they show the viewscreen from an angle it does indeed change the angle.

while the image might distort slightly when the camera moves, fact is that screen wasn't a window to the outside, nor did they take the time to simulate it as such. it was a screen, and walking around it would not have changed the angles. it might have been filmed as a green screen, I don't know, but I doubt they would have sync'd the screen's contents to the relative position of the camera to make it look like a window, when it was never window to begin with.
but I'd be surprised and delighted to be proven wrong if you can find a youtube clip
@@ErikKnepfler The screen seemed to be holographic. For example: When they were talking to a person on another ship, and the camera was looking at the viewscreen from the side, you could see the side of the person's face, instead of just a flattened picture of the person. So it makes sense that the view on the screen would move as your point of view shifts.
