This is super. If you've ever shopped for pure cranberry juice you'd know how hard it is to find. Almost all juice in stores are "blends", meaning they have other juices mixed in. I use for as a urinary tract cleanser due to kidney problems.
Funny. I did this recipe about a month ago and we just opened our first jar yesterday!! The recipe I followed called for fewer berries and no sugar. It is quite weak, but not unpleasant. We drink it as a tonic more than anything anyway. Hubby is diabetic and he thinks it's great, but next time I will add more berries. Next summer I hope to make raspberry juice this way, I think that would be wonderful. Here's a thought I had, I think I will warm some up on the stove and toss in a tea bag and some honey. I think that might be a tasty thing. Oh, I also added half a stick of cinnamon to each jar and the scent and flavour are really nice. ☺ Thanks Toni, Love from the North.
I made this about 4weeks ago. I know it should wait for closer to 6 weeks but I took one out for a little taste. Holy cow it was yummy! I have to say that I may have to find a recipe for the "used" cranberries that are strained out. Great video and happy canning 😁
Looks delicious! My recipe says the sugar is optional. Of course you'd need to strain it and then sweeten before drinking. Not sure if you mentioned it, Toni but unsweetened cranberry juice has medicinal uses. It is very helpful for urinary tract infections and some kidney ailments, too! Thank you so much for sharing.
I was blessed to find grapes for $.35 earlier this year so I did this process. I remembered my grandmother canning juice this way. The juice turned out delicious.
Granny loved cranberry juice, it was one of the few things she didn't make herself. If she has known it was that easy, I'm sure she would have tried it. Cold cranberry juice or cold grapefruit juice was her summertime treat for herself, especially if she had been working in the garden.
@@HerHomesteadSkills granny used to tell me, the tartness of cranberry or grapefruit quenched her thirst better than sweet drinks and the tang perked her right up! (as a kid, I just couldn't understand why anyone would choose to drink either, WILLINGLY! 🤣)
Off topic but...I just harvested some green beans and peas from my indoor garden, plus gave my lemon grass pot a trim, I keep it in a window, and can harvest again in two months. I washed everything, bagged the green beans and peas and put in freezer, then cut lemon grass with scissors, about 3/4th inch pieces and spread out in a basket and put into the window to dry. With snow on the ground, I’m still gardening! 😃
In case anyone does not eat sugar, I made BOTH sweetened and Unsweetened last year they were wonderful. The unsweetened juice when I opened it weeks later I added My sweetener ofchoice to glass before drinking!
This method makes a more dilute cranberry juice than straight berry juice. I prefer this way. I use my pressure canner. 10 min at 5lb pressure. Just opened my last jar, I don't add sugar.
Hi Toni - a great way to make cranberry juice - very easy. I love cranberries in juice and jelly - we are able to pick wild cranberries here so I make cranberry something every year.
Today I am cleaning out my freezer and have several bags of cranberries. First thing I thought of was you or cranberry juice. I canned up blackberries one here in a similar way. Thank you for the video; keep on canning!
Looking great.. I love this way of doing cranberries.. easy peasy for sure.. I probably have 15 bags of cranberries in the freezer .. love cranberry juice with vernors over crushed ice.. Great video.. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thank you so much for sharing this. I've been buying up cranberries to do this. Looks so simple and easy. You are so right, most juice you buy in store has other ingredients. This is pure cranberry juice so good!
Perfect timing! I just canned cranberry sauce this afternoon. I'm going to be getting more cranberries at the store tomorrow to make juice with. Thank you 🙏
Hi I made your cranberry juice in February well it came out delicious. I’ve been enjoying it. I have frozen cranberries I think I will try this next. 👍
I follow a channel from Azerbaijan and this is how she cans all of her family's juices from pretty much every fruit that grows in the country. I love cranberry juice, but juice has too many carbs for me, even if I used a carb-free sweetener. I do like the idea of a little cranberry juice splash in a stevia sweetened ginger ale, though. That might be worth canning a little juice for!
I am confused now. Does it make any difference in processing time when we WB, what altitude are we on? I didn't know that. I thought, this is important only in PC.
Any and all canned items that have sealed are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration. If one of your jars does not seal properly, that one jar must be refrigerated and used as soon as possible. hope that helps!
I love quilting. I also am addicted to diamond painting. On a smaller scale I occasionally like to make custom tumbler. Have you ever tried paper pieces for quilts. Its amazing. The points are exact and if you can sew in a straight line, you can paper piece quilt tops. I bought some cranberries and got more than I needed for the recipe. I'm going to try you cranberry juice recipe.
Hi Toni
Yes you can do any fruit this way it is kompot polish name for it
I do can lots of fruit this way
I've made grape juice the same way!

I have just recently tried this method. Love it. So simple and have tasted. It's lovely.

Can they be frozen to be used for baking and cooking?
@ Cyn Forrest, @Deborah's This &That, I will do both I think! Thanks for the ideas😊
Turn them into sauce or jam maybe?

You made Grape juice, that’s a good idea

definitely better than plain water!

Oooo, really looking forward to a juice report in a few weeks. LLOVE cranberries! I should make up some sauce while berries are still available!
This method makes a more dilute cranberry juice than straight berry juice. I prefer this way. I use my pressure canner. 10 min at 5lb pressure. Just opened my last jar, I don't add sugar.
I agree. It is a pleasant surprise. Love your videos.

Hi I made your cranberry juice in February well it came out delicious. I’ve been enjoying it. I have frozen cranberries I think I will try this next. 👍
Thank you so much for sharing your cranberry juice first attempt. I really appreciate it and will be trying it soon!😄
try a hot-pack, you will end up with less of an air pocket in the jar...that's what I will do the next time. Thank You, Merry Christmas!
@@HerHomesteadSkillsso it didn’t siphon off? Hot pack/ heat berries in pan first?
I'm going to do this I love cranberry juice looks easy and good for my pantry to have thank you God bless

If I decide to do this, it seems to be easy. Thanks

Made mine last week, hopefully it’s a wonderful juice because it’s so very easy.

I hope so too!
Never thought about canning it, please let us know how you like it!!
Ive seen people use the same method for making grape juice too
Have you considered using a norpro steam juicer for your berries
not yet, this is the first time I tried to make juice! Thank You, Merry Christmas!
Hi , You have 2 more weeks to try it! I hope you like it. Please let us know what you think 🤔 I didn’t get to making it yet 👍 cheers
will do!
i have a bunch of concord grapes and blueberries in freezer; would i be able to do it this way as well ?
Yes...It frozen berries will work great!
i made a bit of pear syrup/honey (pretty thick) , i wonder if i could add this instead of the sugar and add more flavor?
You may want to try a small sample to see if you like it first!
Hi did you try your cranberry juice yet? I have the cranberries just wondering what you thought of your juice recipe? Thank you
It was much better than I expected!
Do you clean the top of your jars?
every time except this once!
I am confused now. Does it make any difference in processing time when we WB, what altitude are we on? I didn't know that. I thought, this is important only in PC.
altitude only matters for PC...but processing time maters for both
Thank you very much for your answer! Happy canning! @@HerHomesteadSkills
that tis how i do grape juice
I have a question. Once finish canning, does it require refrigeration?
Any and all canned items that have sealed are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration. If one of your jars does not seal properly, that one jar must be refrigerated and used as soon as possible. hope that helps!
@HerHomesteadSkills thank you so much. I figured that much, but wanted to be really sure because I don't have room in my fridge.
I love quilting. I also am addicted to diamond painting. On a smaller scale I occasionally like to make custom tumbler. Have you ever tried paper pieces for quilts. Its amazing. The points are exact and if you can sew in a straight line, you can paper piece quilt tops.

Yes, I did try paper piecing...I just have quilt burn-out right now!
Has anyone found a good use for the berries after drinking the juice?
I haven't but this is the first time I have made the juice, and i't not yet ready!
Why didn't you debubble and wipe the top of the jars off before putting lids on?
I don't recall, but apparently I got away with it...they all sealed!
We add stevia when drinking….no sugar in jars…..
great idea!
Well, I have a question, did you like the juice??
Vicky...It's not exactly the same as store bought, but nothing ever is...but yes, I did enjoy it.
I feel your pain as to how you now spend all your time. It's how I spend all my time. It's exhausting, but .....
yes, but...needs to be done!
