Same my Mom made her pudding from scratch on the stove and used egg white added sugar beat it until it got fluffy then baked in the oven.

A local shop opens up selling banana pudding and ive become obsessed with it and as a cook im trying to re create itthe ither day i paid 6.69$ for a box of nilla wafers thats after i checked 3 stores!! This pudding used to cost nothing now its a good 30$ 😢
Instead of using cool whip, just whip up 2-3 cups of heaving whipping cream, it tastes better and less sweet

But that cool whip ain't real cream though, it's some type of Whipped oil. Just buy the heavy cream and whip it yourself, at least you'll be using actual cream, not hydrogenated whipped oil.

Well any grandma I know makes the. Banana custard from scratch they did not use Jello pudding mix!
Agreed, i made yesterday, custard is easy enough. Egg, sugar, flour, condensed milk, a touch of baking powder, stir on stove top at medium heat until thickens, ( about 15 minutes, add vanilla extract and poor in layers over cookies, bananas then custard, layer to the top. ( i do not like the merengue so i do not bake) , put in fridge overnight
@@kjvstreetpreacher my mom use to make the banana custard in a similar way. Anyone that is use to homemade banana pudding can not eat the box stuff it taste so artificial.
@@bh2155 my grandmother's lemon pudding was awesome. She made it the same way, but gutted and zested 6 lemons to add to the custard instead of the vanilla. 😏 now I am hungry that is my tomorrow. Trying to figure out a good alternative for the sugar 1 1/2 cup is a lot

This looks good, but my Gma made everything from scratch, and making that pudding involved a double boiler and using a mixer at some point. Nilla wafers usually, but she would use chessman whenever we was having a church thang... But all were good. Ive had a few different versions and this almost seems banana cream pie-ish to me....

Just make your own pudding. It’s super simple and doesn’t take long at all. I like the recipe from celebrating sweets “homemade vanilla pudding”. I’ve even used almond milk instead of whole milk before and it still turns out great.
how do you keep your bananas from oxidizing? Does the fresh bananas separate? meaning do they leak fluid when stored overnight?
