In case nobody else has mentioned it yet, to answer your question: One of the main reasons to wait until the mixture has cooled slightly before adding vanilla is because it will scorch and become bitter, defeating the purpose of the flavoring. Your video was lovely and you make it look so easy, even as a voice over. Great job on that by the way! Thank you for sharing your lovely Mother's recipe. *Blessings on Your Journey!*

People still praise and remember her delicious homemade banana pudding. Now that she’s no longer here I’m going to make it like she did or at least try. I can not eat the boxed pudding. I can and will eat boxed cake but not boxed banana pudding. My Mother always used a double boiler but it looks like you know what you’re doing too! Great video!
I grew up on this recipe. We always ate it warm or room temperature. Momma would make it Sunday morning before church and leave it setting out. After church the cookies would be soft and the pudding would be set. So delicious!
The lovely soothing voice and the meticulous placement of each cookie made it very pleasant to watch even a second time just to make sure not to miss something.

Now that my mom is gone, I want to make it for my daughter, but I knew Momma poured the hot pudding over the bananas and wafers. Every single recipe online I looked at, they chilled the pudding first. My mom would not approve. Thank you for this video!
The reason that you put vanilla in at last is so that it will retain its flavor better and so that it will not become bitter from all the long cooking time if you had put it in early

Oh, wow I love this recipe! 🍌 banana pudding. This is my husband's favorite sweet thing to eat! It's perfect at any time! The only problem is, there isn't enough of it in one batch, so I guess I will make two! Thanks for sharing your recipe!
Yes! This is a favorite of mine!! Sometimes I have to make two batches also. 😊

Thank you so much! My mom passed away 3 1/2 years ago. She was really sick. This is very close to how she would make her banana pudding. You brought back some gray memories!!!
Awe. I’m so sorry for your loss. I appreciate you watching and hope that you’ll take the time to make this yourself, enjoy it, and pass it along. 😊💜
I can assure you I’ll be making this and passing the recipe on. When I was younger it was a family favorite. My Mom grew up cooking on a coal fired stove. Her specialty was baking and desserts. Again, thank you for the memories.
I really enjoyed this video. It was so relaxing. One of my favorite dessert recipes. I just had subscribe. Thank you.
Thank you so much 💜
