Hawk, who is the team leader in the comics, was finally introduced in season 2 and given a bigger role after being ignored in season 1 and the first two miniseries. Snake Eyes and Scarlett are also gone in season 2, mostly cuz the comic books weren't gonna budge as far as keeping them a couple, and the cartoons could do nothing with them. Flint and Lady Jaye took over.

well the first original serie was split in 2 but you allmost not notice untill cobra try to recruite more soldiers to there army and end up finding Zatan and his Dreadnoughts, allso at that time they are allso at war with G.I. Joe. i dont know the story 100%, but i know the first episode with Zartan is one of the first times Cobra wins.... serius they win and loss the next episode big :P
