If I close my eyes I am immediately a ten year old kid again in elementary school as soon as the intro plays. holy moly. I am transported back to my parents house in the mid 80's. I am almost 50 years old now. we had it so good back then and did not even realize it or appreciate it.
Racing my bicycle home to catch this in my desired after school cartoon Block. Voltron, This, Dennis The Menace, Ghostbusters, the Different stroke reruns. Bless dem 80s with my 45 year oldazz.
Playing this theme during the lockdown saved my sanity. Thanks for uploading. It was because it was a reminder of simpler time, without 24-7 negativity thrown in your face.
Always thought M.A.S.K. and Transformers could easily be in the same universe, then in Transformers Prime, they had a secret organization M.E.C.H. that kidnapped cybertronians to experiment on and thought that would be a perfect way to have that concept. After the fall of the leader Silas, you find out that the data had survived and the government used it to create the M.A.S.K. vehicles via cybertronian T-cog data. We have the leader of M.A.S.K. using it for good, while remnants of M.E.C.H. resurface to use the technology for evil. Maybe even have Silas come back as some sort of cyborg to redeem himself in the end.
That was also the Target Masters toyline gimmick. Turn the Transformers into non transformable figures but make the vehicles they ride able to transform.
@@beegsex Target masters was the small ones that became weapons for the normal characters. You're thinking of Action Masters, those are the non-transforming figures that ride in other vehicles.
Still have some of the MASK toys up the attic of my parents home. Had the gas station base, the red car with gulwing doors, the green helicopter bike, the blue bike with sidecar and somekind of truck (the cab over version). Got it second hand in the mid 90s.
you scored. i would love to see some of those toys nowadays. We couldn't afford cool toys as kids but my neighborhood friends had some and I thought they were awesome
I was a kid from the mid-80s to early 90s, now a professional artist who does comics, movie and video game concept art, and toy design. The bad-ass shows and toys from that era -- MASK, GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Centurions, Visionaries, MOTU, Voltron, TMNT, The Real Ghostbusters, BTAS, X-men 92, Captain Power to name some of my faves -- all molded me to pursue this dream job and continue to inspire me at work each day. Remembering my childhood buddies Jay and Carlos as well: I may not have been born blessed with the means to buy the toys then, but surely I was blessed with generous friends who shared and played with me their action figures. You guys rock!
a pretty damn impessive edit! nice to know i'm not the only one who loves to do this kind of stuff. My only criticisim here is that the music is mixed too loud, and occasionally the sound effects. other than that, concept wise it's fantastic, same with the editing. Absolutly love the use of the original sound effects as well! you've earnt a sub!
Never got into the toys, but the cartoon had probably the best opening theme of all the popular afternoon cartoon series. It still Rocks! MAA MAA MAA MASK!
Fun fact: the Canadian MASK action figures had slightly different masks from the American ones. The American masks looked just like the ones on the show: they just fit over the head. The Canadian ones had an extra piece in the front and back that extended over the figure's chest and back.
Born early '81 here. Younger GenXers had some INCREDIBLE cartoons. MASK, Thundercats, Silverhawks, He-Man, Transformers, and my personal favorite VOLTRON! There are so many others I can mention but I'm pretty sure you all know what I'm talking about.
Visionaries (also an epic theme song), The Real Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles (renamed Hero Turtles in the UK as ninjas were seen as violent), Dungeons and Dragons and my personal favourite, Mysterious Cities of Gold! (Possibly had the best theme song ever). Also born early 81, though I prefer older millennial lol
Awesome this MASK cartoons...I enjoyed it once when I was younger including Thunder hawk, Condor, Gator Pirhana, Buzzard and Firefly vehicles. Now today with this extended theme... IMPRESSIVE.
80's kids unite 💪🏻 we had a tremendous childhood indeed! I took the mission to pass these memories down to my kids and thus far M.A.S.K and Thundercats are my boys favorites ❤️
Such a bangin' intro! 80's animation had some of the best intro music - MASK, Pole Position, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Bravestarr, Spiral Zone, etc.
This was one of my favorite cartoons. I never did get any of their toys though because my parents wouldn't buy them for me lol. I had primarily Transformers and GI Joe toys with a few SilverHawks action figures as well. Wish I had the MASK toys too.
This took me back so many incredible memories, just vibin to my cassettes music and playing Mask on the lounge room floor while my mum was cooking in the kitchen ❤
Takes me back to Cocoa Beach instantly, and all the He-Man, Transformers, and Robotech stuff I loved. That was the life for me. Hell, even the WEATHER was better!
This is easily the best cartoon theme song of all time! I’ve always thought this song could have been a hit if it was released and advertised seriously! The guy was singing his ass off! Too bad the editor left the sound effects & voices of the scenes as the song played. Kind of ruined it. I would have liked to hear the song isolated.
This cartoon was broadcasted on Indonesian Television in 1987, when I was 7 years old..this film was a part of my lovely childhood memories. As my parents was not rich, i watched this cartoon in a black and white television..
I had the action figure of mask and the son and robot, my neighbor had the general villain action figure, creating the plot and played together. That was the good old days...
Wow i was little kid when I see for first time this cartoon.. old time, golden age.. I remember ghostbusters, brave star, he-man,trasformers, thundercats,g.i.joe, and all japanese cartoon.. im 50years old now.. listen this song make me happy cause I can say i was there at that time,i enjoyed that moments...🔝🔝🔝
i always wanted switch blade as a toy as a kid .. but was as hard to get as Megatron was as toy back in the 80's so settled for Rhino from Mask and Grimlock from Transformers .. Both Awsome toys from two Awsome shows :)
Salah satu serial kartun TVRI yg jujur tak begitu berkesan buatku kala SD sampai barusan keinget saat lihat video di TH-cam. Secara kurang keren jika dibanding kartun sejaman macam Silver Hawk, HeMan, Galaxy Ranger, Kura2 Ninja, G-force ataupun Centurion. That all beautiful memoriea.. ❤😊.

Me it's dark wing duck and I'm 10 again and I'm almost 40. I remember bravestarr and Ghostbusters but not mask thoe?
The 1980s were the golden age of awesome cartoon theme songs!
Live action theme songs too. 😁
DiC !!!!
aka ... Canada had good stuff
And everything else entertainment wise.
Definitely!
And the 80’s was when action toys were the best at the time.
I am so lucky to have grown up in these times because the nostalgia is just awesome. God we had it so good as kids back then.
Best cartoon theme ever 40 years and the theme gives. me chills
It's like a rock opera!
Fighting crime, fighting crime!
Best theme with lyrics; the original JONNY QUEST theme is the best instrumental.
I'd say Jayce and the heeled Warriors is equally strong on audio & visual rocking mixture of good verses bad...
@@razor1uk610 Wheeled Warriors.
I used to watch this Show with my Dad. I always Remember finishing my Homework and He'd Sit with me and watch it. I love this Cartoon.

This is one of the cartoons that teached me English when I was very young. And to see the singer (Larry) respond to a cover, wow!
Every time I heer the first seconds of the theme song i get goosebumps

The red car with gullwing doors was called Thunderhawk. I know because that is what I named my red Model X.
they had smart watches back then. They were 40 yrs ahead already lol
Among many other things.

Best toys I ever had. Watched the movie on video hundreds of times.
I had the truck and the helicopter I think.

Me to this was amazing just as Masters of the universe
And jayce and the wheeled warriors
I still watch this cartoon.
All these years later, and laser-blaster sound effects still remain unchanged.

"always riding hot on Venom's trail,
COME SEE THE LASER RAYS"
...I never could make that out by just listening to the song.
That was REALLY good! Bravo! (worthy work for a worthy tv show with a very worthy soundtrack)
Even That theme song could have been a top ten hit. They don't make them like they used to nowadays

Absolutely BANGING!
I'm 50 now, watched this in 1985 and 86 before Transformer were popular.
"Overtime. Fighting Crime." - Takes a huge bite out of a sandwich.

The Venom leader looked like the guy who said diabeetus in the commercials
In real life he woulda also succumbed to diabeetus complications by now

Before videotapes were ubiquitous, when you could make a third of your show the theme tune and we didn't mind cause we hadn't seen it in a week!
There's just something so pleasing about 80's cartoons. I don't know how to describe the feeling it but damn it feels good
I don't know how you sourced that mysterious second verse, but man - this is really freakin good. WELL DONE
Yeah. I dont recall a guitar solo back then
They should have used this in The Fast and Furious! That franchise knocked off this series!
Wow!! I totally forgot about this! Thank you!
This is the Best Extended MASK Opening that I've seen.
