So… I finally watched Star Wars: The Clone Wars. After years of simply never getting around to it, I finally can say I understand the hype. Today, I discuss some of my absolute favorite arcs from the 7 Clone Wars Seasons, and why I think this is the BEST Star Wars I’ve seen in years. The Clone Wars has introduced me to so many new stories in the Star Wars universe that are now among my favorites in the franchise. The show has also introduced me to characters like Cad Bane, Asajj Ventress, Ahsoka Tano and others, while improving existing characters like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul and more!

- Rako Hardeen
- Ahsoka trial
- Siege of Mandalore (mostly last couple episodes)
but the show as a whole is great...
The Yoda arc is on another level, I swear. Like, I’m a prequel lover, but the Yoda arc goes beyond anything else

The Ahsoka trial makes episode 3 all the more believable. It really is done well and it makes her leaving the order believable. Anything that is animated and makes me cry for the character I cannot say was written badly.
Siege of Mandalore was great and it made the clone wars really wrap up about the tough times for the Clones. Jesse kills a jedi(Pong Krell) for betraying him and his brothers, but then at the end he dies because he killed himself trying to kill Ahsoka when he was the real traitor. That is some great story telling. It rhymes.
Rako Hardeen is on the far side but I did not see a lot wrong with it.

I thought 99 death was kind of stupid, like he died for nothing honestly, he went to go get more bombs or whatever but the clones won the fight without them anyway so he just died for no reason.
Me when he finally watches that arc: the mission. the nightmares they're finally. over-.....
I still find it ironically depressing, watching Jesse in Umbara, and then watching Jesse in the seige of Mandalore.

It's really said to have the last antagonist of the clone wars to be Jesse considering he has the republic symbol on his head and helmet
cool thing to notice, when Rex is talking to him with soka 'captive' Jesse shivers/shakes similar to how rex first did right before demoting and sentencing Rex. He tried to fight the chip, but also failed.
Christopher Roberts That’s unique since every final antagonist in the films has to be a dark Force user. It’s refreshing to see the final villain in a 12-year long journey to be a single clone of all people, and I thought Maul would be the last obstacle.
@@yozora1047 I never thought about it like that, but it certainly does give the ending a unique feel. Maul is important, but he's more a plot device than a character in those final episodes
You'll surely love the Mortis arc and i can imagine you'll also really like Hondo

@@benjamingavrilis71 Imo the only part of Mortis that was good was seeing a "good" dark side Anakin. He wanted to simply do good, rather than seize power, like he did in ROTS.
I didnt really like mortis and honestly I dont like hondo either but he is funny but such a dick and I loved it when I yeeeeeeeeeted him
Mortis is the most overrated arc ever. Many people remember the little clip of Anakin seeing the future and then think the whole arc was the best thing ever

You are mistaking, people love the arc because of how different it is. That it’s like no other Star Wars media. And that it shows the mythology side of Star Wars.
The Citadel arc is one of my favorites. Season 3 episodes 18-20. Great variety of characters and a taste of young Tarkin.
But you would have to watch the domino arc before that, to get more invested also in the other characters in that arc

RIP Ridge, he fought in the Battle of Teth up until Order 66 where he was killed by Maul.
The Mortis Arc, and the Yoda Arc some of the best most obscure writing so well done
And the Tup arc at the beginning of season 6.
The most obscure is R2 and C3PO going underground (but it definitely isn’t as good as Mortis and Yoda)

The Mortis arc was extremely lazy and wholly inappropriate to the Star Wars franchise, deforming it into this goofy mythology just as bad as midichlorians. It was hamfisted and I wish it went away along with the ashla and bogan and possibly the bendu, but eapecially the buckaroo banzai force matter time travel nonsense from rebels also needs to go.
@@justanotherdayinthelife9841 how is it goofy mythology and what would you consider none goofy mythology? it was far from lazy and inappropriate. but I suppose you just want flashy light saber fights and laser guns right? star wars is fantasy in space and it always was and has been, this is a whole entire universe. you might want to only focus on the war parts but there is so much more going on in an entire universe based in fantasy. the mortis arc is actually one of the most interesting and original concepts they've used in star wars. anyway its your loss most people love it and feel it expands and develops the star wars universe as a universe should be expanded and explored, you stick with your 3 films to enjoy while we can enjoy a vast universe of possibilities. just leaving something like the force as an ambiguous plot device to give random people special powers for no reason is lazy.

@@totallyanonymousbish9599 Yeaaa. Glad this man loves the show. But the emotional impact you feel in the finale after following Ahsoka and the clones for soooo long (even in the "filler" episodes) just cannot be matched after watching every episode.
I could never watch something in that way, I’m just not wired like that. I don’t care if something doesn’t get until episode 250, I’ll still start from episode 1 because I have to see the full journey as cringe as it sounds 😂

Rebels was great, thankfully I watched it before reading anyones opinions so I could enjoy it completely without scanning it with ridicule.
The scene where Fives died is one of the most emotional scenes ever to me. Fives was on an impossible mission to save the Jedi from order 66. And he actually told Anakin and Rex about what he found out, they just thought that he had lost his mind because of the so called 'virus'. Fives almost succeeded in preventing order 66 and Anakin goin to the Dark Side pretty much alone (with help of azi-3) and when he died it had incredible impact on me. Fives has one of the best story arcs of any character I've ever seen!
YES!!! Fives is One of My Favorite Characters Of All Time! And His Character Arc is just Incredible! I Cry So Much Every Time I watch That Episode 😭
The arc with fives/CT-5555 in season 6 is amazing! It really makes the last two episodes of season 7 make more sense and it will hurt you knowing what is coming.

If you like Cad Bane, Hando the Pirate is going to be another one you like, he is one of my favorite characters in the whole series
The Fives Arc in season 6 is so amazing. The final two episodes of Season 7 make that arc even more impactful.
i personally watched every episode in the disney+ order and loved it so much still, i would recommend to wait until u know all the characters first to watch the last few seasons bec it just makes it all so much better:)
The most unbearable part of the Jar-Jar being a Jedi episode is that he's actually a Sith Lord.

@Tom Ffrench Yes, a Star Wars fan can be any one who likes any part or aspect of Star Wars, but you cannot be a die hard fan until you watch the shows.
I’m so glad you’re gonna go back and watch the rest of the series, while I do appreciate people compiling the best parts into viewing guides, I think the “skipping half of the series” thing that comes with it is a real shame. It’s still all part of the show, it’s all part of Star Wars and all the different stories add something to the characters and populate the world and make it seem alive. I never understood skipping episodes - it’s fine when you’ve watched the whole thing and know what you liked and didn’t liked, but definitely not the first time around.
I kind of agree with both of you. I think it's ok to jump around and pick what you want to watch as long as you eventually get around to watching all of them.

Clone wars is one of my favourite shows and Anakin is my fav character by far although i have too say now Ahsoka isnt far behind. The character development through this series and the arrogance/naievity of the jedi order. The whole thing makes Revenge of the sith so much better, far more impactful. You can understand the pain and loss that Anakin experienced much more. Used by the Jedi, manipulated for years by palpatine. The episode where Obi Wan dies and the emotion and pain that Anakin felt for his master. The whole time you're just thinking about what happens on Mustafar. Shattered, no better episode name for Order 66. Its how i felt the whole time. The last 4 episodes were some of the best star wars i have ever seen. It was beautiful.
Agreed. They handled Anakin so well in the Clone Wars. He was super likeable but also had his flaws. It felt like becoming Darth Vader was an inescapable fate that both the Jedi and palpatine propelled forward
Couldn't agree more. The show is very good at enhancing the movies, especially highlighting Anakin's slow and steady fall to the dark side (his impulsiveness, conversations with Palpatine, hate for slavery etcetc)
I Was so angry when the council just threw Ashoka under the bus but loved how hard Anakin was trying to prove that Ashoka is no traitor and his words to her before she left were heartbreaking man.
When he shows clips of the mortis arc but doesn’t talk about it-

The Siege of Mandalore is some of the best Star Wars ever! Disney should absolutely continue to make animated stories like this moving forward 🙌🏾
Just thinking, if the studio is no longer working on clone wars, surely they will pick up a new era... They have already shown their creativity and success in the Starwars franchise.

Disney does have a Rebels sequel scheduled and they are switching it over to the clone wars animation style. Good call imo, the clone wars animation is much matured over Rebels. Speaking of, I wonder how long it'll take him to get to Rebels?
I was a Clone Wars kid I watched every episode when it first aired on Cartoon Network and got every season on dvd when it came out. And it was great rewatching it all with my Dad. Now we are watching the Bad Batch. He is enjoying all of it.
The mortis arc is the best in my opinion. You really begin to see how powerful Anakin really is, with the son and daughter truly symbolizing his internal struggle between the light and the dark.
I'm happy you watched it, and happy for you. It's a truly amazing series, and the single best piece of Star Wars media in my opinion.
No other media I've seen or read has made me shed tears like this series, and nothing gives me goose bumps like this series so often does.
Damn, just watching these clips, bearing the terrific voice acting and thinking about certain moments can give me goose bumps any time of day.
It’s kind of funny. I remember the show got moved to adult swim right after Maul can back. I now understand why
Anakin and ahsoka's relationship over the clone wars is easily my favorite part of it. anakin is such a big brother and it puts a smile on my face. Also the episodes that people label "hard to get through" are fine. if not some of the funniest clone wars episodes. hope you enjoy this awesome series.

The fives arc is probably the deepest, saddest and most important arc in the whole series.

Sam Witwer deserves some kind of reward for his performance as Maul. Hands down the most amazing performance I've ever seen in history. Purely historical.

the reoccurring stories of domino squad, and the tradgedys they face, may be amongst the most humanizing, peak content of the show.
I watched them as a kid as they were coming out, but now I've been going back and watching it all in chronological order and its really cool to see how it all fits together.
The domino squad arc is top-tier if you haven’t seen it yet.

If you think the Jar Jar-Jedi episode was tough to get through, wait until you get to the Season 5: 4-part arc of Droids journeying through a desolate wasteland and having an existential crisis. And then think about those who watched it at the time it came out.

My favourite episode is lair of grievous, it was what got me into Star Wars as a little kid
you never mentioned the citadel arc, that is a very very very good one imo. the first two episodes of season 3 with domino squad are incredible as well, and even the one after and other episodes revolving around politics are very interesting in my opinion too. Those are a few I can think of rn. many many others tho. in my mind, they’re all worth watching. They all add onto the greater conflict during the clone wars, whether it be the republic vs the separatists, political views and hardships taking place, and others focusing around other planets and species going through hardships within the war as well. they’re all good, and even if people skip some at first I highly recommend eventually seeing them all. Brings everything together quite well, and watching revenge of the sith afterwards makes SOO many things make more sense where it didn’t before. enjoy!

Absolute must to watch all the domino squad episodes: rookies, clone cadets, arc troopers etc. The fives arc at the start of S6 is one of the best in the series.
You need to see the first few episodes of season 6 and then rewatch the order 66 stuff to really understand why Rex goes off about fives, and what all of the reports that Ahsoka saw were
I have small issues with some of the subplots:
Rako Hardeen arc; Ahsoka-framing arc; Siege of Mandalore arc; but the rest of it is...just beautiful.
they need to fix Darth mauls spin attack detection
for me, what makes the clone wars so great is that they don't shy away from politics(at least in the later seasons). While the prequels half heartedly attempted to explain the empire while juggling Anakin's teenage angst, this one treated every character as they should. clones were treated as well trained soldiers. bounty hunters were treated as well trained effective guns for hire. politicians, smiley as ever. its just a beautiful series
The final 4 episodes of The Clone Wars, is hands down, the BEST Star Wars content to come from Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm. Yes, it’s better than The Mandalorian.
The Jedi crash arc is pretty good, short but just good. From season one, I believe.
And the arcs from season 6, but I recommend watching the domino squad evolution (rookies, domino squad, the attack on Kamino...) before.

Been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid, watched bits and pieces of Clone Wars when it came out in 2008 but for a week or so I've only just started watching the best story arcs in the show for the first time and it's honestly my favourite star wars media

Dude, Grievous killing the whole Nightsister clan was pretty intense too... Mass genocide. I believe it also has an easter egg with Merrin from Fallen Order.
The episode with clone 99’s arch is also pretty emotional if you haven’t seen that one.
Watch the Order 66 arc at the beginning of season 6 it leads perfectly into the final 4 episodes and Rookies in season 1

I only watched every episode that Ahsoka was in the first time around. Now I’m doing the whole series in chronological order and so far it has been amazing

Citadel arc
Ryloth arc
Toydaria Arc(savage, bail and jar jar, but most important is season 1 episode 1 with Yoda and the Clones)
Anything with Fives, including inhibitor chip arc
Genosis Arc is cool, and the only time we like Ki Adi Mundi
Onderon Arc is amazing
and my personal favorite: Umbara, which you mentioned.
The old republic trailers are the best bits of star wars ever created
I'm really glad you're watching and enjoying clone wars as it's probably the reason I still enjoy star wars as much as I do to this day, but I have to say your viewing order makes me feel like maul does when savage finds him for the first time
Clone Wars is my fav Star Wars! Some epic content with multi layered depth, awesome character development, arcs and amazing visuals.
The fact that this show is so so much better than the sequel trilogy makes you wonder if adults actually wrote those movies.

Make sure you watch in chronological order, you can find a guide pretty easy. Its mostly in the right order if you watch it as it was released, but there are a few exceptions.
Man you HAVE to watch all the Hondo stuff, he's one of my favorite characters from Clone Wars
Cat and mouse is one of my favorite episodes. So many just gloss over it but i still feel it is amazing
You should watch the Geonosian, Mortis, and Yoda ark. The nightsister ark is also good; it ties in with the Maul/ Savage ark some, but the only reason I would dissuade you from watching it is because of the Jar- Jar near the end

Nah the worst of star wars is the padme episodes of clone wars like clone wars has some amazing arcs but holy shit those fuckin political padme arcs or jar jar binks episodes were aweful, I would rather watch the whole sequel trilogy until my eyes bleed

People hate on the sequels too much. The prequels are only decent because the clone wars makes them decent. Without this show, the prequels are terrible. The sequels are enjoyable.
People used to hate the Prequels even more than the Sequels get hate now. The difference is we didnt have TH-cam back then, but even after we got TH-cam for years people only made videos on the Prequels to talk about what went wrong. I remember Clone Wars was the first time people started to really like the prequels universe, even petitioned Filoni to remake Episode 3 within the show to fix it.
Shyguy revenge of the sith is better than all the sequel films put together in sorry it’s just a fact nd then you get phantom menace which is almost as bad as the last Jedi but u also get attack of the clones which again is better then force awakens and last Jedi so prequels wins by far even without the clone wars series then u add the clone wars series nd it’s a straight KO

Hello mate glad your enlightened, all the stuff with fives and crew is amazing u get to seen their development from rookies on kamino all the way through it’s great probably my favourite storyline
In that particular episode, with Maul's takeover of Mandalore and his beheading of Pre Vizla, that death was originally going to be darker as Pre Vizla's head would be visable from an overhead shot, rolling down the steps he was killed above.
The wookie arc with Ahsoka was good and I also enjoyed the episode where Dooku Obi Wan and Anakin were captured together lol.
One of My favourite parts of the show is the sight of anakin and Palpatine in a room or even just Palpatine and you see him slowly manipulating things even just through off hand dialogue
The first eight episodes of Season 7 were decent at best, but the last three were perfection. Heartbreaking perfection.
The first arc in season 6 is one of the best arcs. I watched it with my dad recently and I never seen him enjoy star wars as much as he did watching that arc

This show was literally my childhood
I honestly love the s4 arc about the slave traders and how Anakin, Obiwan, and Rex try to take them down. It gets overshadowed by some of the more plot relevant storylines (I mean nothing is better than Maul’s Mandalore arcs) but there’s some unique and really interesting world building and unexpected character development for everyone involved. Anakin in particular has to reflect back on his own time as a slave and what that position did to himself and his mother. It’s great. Not to mention some absolutely stellar action
Rookies is definitely a must watch from season 1. Basically watch any episode where Dee Bradley Baker is just talking to himself the whole time
