everyone always talks about how cool the dragon roost part is but honestly the part where the flute melody just loops and keeps on building up is insane
Part of that is that the music changes phases when you hit Colgera, an implementation which doesn't allow the musical phrases to play out as much as I'd like. I like it more as just an A to B piece!
I The hunn Colgera is the only theme outside the main theme that I’ve been like “WOW IM FEELING THIS” so far, I should go back and listen to the other themes but this one hit me in game immediately
@@tootnoot3074 yeah there are a lot of cool wind waker references in this fight - I like how colgera is similar to the wind temple boss in ww (molgera). not to mention the fact that both boss themes are absolute bangers lol
I love how traditional this area felt. Such an incredible fight and theme. I wish it was a little harder, but it really felt like playing skyward sword or any other classic 3D Zelda.
Things that i didn't noticed my first playthough but going back again for more is that the more you play, the more nuances you can see/hear if you are a veteran fan of any Zelda game. Particularly, this song has a Dragonroost Island motif played at around 1:33 or for most people, they just might say it's just a more epic Rito theme, which for this game, it sure is. This motif also goes greatly for Colgera since Colgera is also a boss in Wind Waker, which is where Dragonroost Island is from as well. There's more motif's like this in the game like other returning bosses like the Marbled Gohma boss and some other soundtrack motifs you can find here and there. Just a little easter egg/reward to anyone who has ever played some of the old games and was a fan for a long time. It shows that Nintendo REALLY cares for this franchise and wants people to enjoy it as much as they had the enjoyment of making it. TOTK is a contender for my favorite Zelda game of all time (still holding onto the Twilight Princess nostalgia lol)
Listening to this in piano really makes me realize how much this boss theme seems like a battle for the Rito people to take back their land from Colgera, the battle between the lite motifs between molduga and rito village is so integral.
1:21 Is definitely my favorite part. It’s climactic, it’s badass, it actually makes me feel like I’m fighting a dragon ridiculously high up in the sky. Amazingly made, I love this theme.
Love the melody at 1:34, that's been one of my favorites in the game. This whole piece had great energy! This fight wasn't hard but was a great spectacle, and the music certainly helped in that regard.
Am I the only one happy about the Molgera Theme from Wind Waker being included too? It's definitely my favorite boss theme from Wind Waker and I'm happy that it sorta confirms that this boss is kinda like Molgera 2.0 lol
Me, as a part of the community, that had a great childhood with wind waker, could cry rn. I couldnt resist the dragon roost island theme. So nostalgic and emotional ❤
I think the Colgera boss battle theme is my favorite new TotK track. I love how powerful and uplifting the Rito theme feels when it sneaks in. Gives me frisson chills when I hear it.
The wind temple was the first one I did and the music getting up there was so spooky yet sad to me and I was in awe in both the song of the temple and the boss theme!! I cannot wait to get to the other temples and listen to the music!! This was a great arrangement!!
@@flaskeyboredom5942 I mean no hate but I did the water temple second and man I was so hyped up for the boss just to see what it was :'> The temple's puzzles were fine tho
as the first dungeon boss of my play through the music swept me off my feet the nods to past titles of rito theme windwker and all it was amazing and the build up made the fight so meaning full
This made my day! I love hearing these themes on the piano because you can easily hear the little references to other Zelda songs. You did an AMAZING job with this piece!
Thanks so much Backpack! I'll let this one sit for a while, spent all week on it and have to do some other work next week :P . Certainly one of those pieces that stretch my technical limits!
YES it's hard! Recorded this in three parts because I wouldn't be happy with the results of a single take - had to rehearse for another week if I wanted to do that :P
This is my favorite main boss theme from the game, second only to the final themes in the lead up to Ganondorf. I love that they included a melody that's similar to molgera's theme but kept the whole thing unique and new. Great job on the arrangement Tim!
i am stunned by the dragon roost part every time, but the melody at 1:23 that comes before it is so fun! this song is a work of art on its own, fantastic cover!!! hope i can play like this one day :)
It's gliding and diving time! It was a cool way to attack and beat a boss, very memorable fight with great music! Awesome cover, I love that you kept the wind runs in, they added so much to the ambience of the many tracks in this area. I have to say that how they repurposed the Champion and Divine Beast themes in new ways in TOTK was just superb. The motifs were just perfection for any BOTW players!
I only discovered during the rematch that you could use Link as his own arrow, which made the fight so cool! And yeah, the runs are a very characteristic element of the track so I had to put them in. Much to my hands' chagrin :P .
Thank you for arranging this! I’ve been learning to play it for the past several weeks and it’s so much fun. Difficult with my tiny hands that can barely stretch an octave but absolutely playable
The soundtrack throughout the duration of the Wind Temple brought me goosebumps, and it truly elevated the experience of an already amazing (maybe my favorite??) boss fight! Your rendition is epic!!
Exactly what I've been wanting Tim! Thank you so much! I love the motifs of Dragon Roost Island from Wind Waker incorporated in the song, Nintendo did a great job on this one 😉
Ik this is a little late but I have been avoiding spoilers to Totk and I just started the game a few weeks ago... Been a little occupied with college lol. This track is absolutely amazing and its use of motif is out of this world. Obviously there are a few clear references, like the Rito theme at 1:34 and Vah Medoh ostinato at 1:12. But I think one reference most people missed is the skydiving motif at 0:40 (doubled on piano and flute in the original OST, I think)... giving you an IN MUSIC hint to skydive through Colgera . This is almost a meta-narrative use of a soundtrack and I am completely blown away. (I didn't notice this myself though lol, I read it in the comment section in a video of the actual OST. Thought I would share it with you all anyway!) Also, the instrumentation is very strong and innovative in both this track and the game as a whole. This is why I always come back to Zelda... they always find a way to build on the old and create something new. You did a very good job of arranging this for solo piano Tim, with all its moving parts!
This is actually amazing, I love how they have a made Zelda games for this long and every theme is somehow amazing, I also love how they added a small part of the Rito theme
I play piano and watching this cover, it’s insane that you memorised the tricky timings and melodies of this song and did it so well. Either that, or you sight read incredibly well. Great job!!
The upside of arranging myself is that I already know it almost by heart by the time it's done. Which is fortunate because I'm not a good sight reader at all xD
Amazing as always Tim!! This piece is amazing and so epic for the Colgera fight, I just love the Rito Village part, I've been listening to it a lot lately! Your arrangement really sounds just as epic as the original!

Also, the fight is designed in a way where almost nobody hears the dragon roost part😢
The mix of Ravali’s theme from breath of the wild, the Molgera’s theme and dragon roost island theme from windwaker, was absolutely amazing.
@@stephenrichter8940 If you fight Colgera by diving down when it shoots the spikes it times it perfectly to hear the dragon roost part.
