- Hello friends! Bad makeup science is back! Wait no, not makeup -- just bad general science, I guess. Here is a weird video we made where I mix one of every hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Works together!! Bath & Body Works is notorious for having a ton of different hand sanitizers, so I thought it would be fun to mix them together to see what the midpoint color & fragrance will be - and to try and spice up my ~hand sanitizing~ routine.
Just a quick disclaimer - some of the shots in the intro/buying segment of this video are shots from our Franken-candle video from 2018, which is why everyone is ~unmasked~. Also, any extra sanitizers that we still have after this video will be donated! And, as always, do nothing i do ever -- please don't overly inhale sanitizers, lol.

When I was in 3rd grade, I started a club with my entire class where everyone brought every hand sanitizer they could find and we would test it in containers I bought. It got to the point where we would mix it with hand lotion. We even made commercials with a camera one kid bought. The teacher eventually banned it when people started getting rashes on their hands. It is still my greatest achievement.

Yup! I just realized this.
We used to have this thing called the “sanitizer mafia” 3rd-5th grade where we mix sanitizers and give the mixtures out to our peers. There were like 3 different mafias all trying to create the best mixture and get the most members in order to gain the most “power”. Our school literally had to ban personal hand sanitizers because things got too heated.

Every one used my hand sanitizer in 5th grade. Because mine was the liquid sanitizer and some people even put it on there desk to clean it. It was popular lol

I also remember how when I was in grade 3, I was one of the only people in my class to have bath and body works hand sanitizer, and every single time before snack time, everyone would literally line up to me and I'd give each person a squirt of my hand sanitizer. This literally lasted the whole school year and I thought I was long done with the bottle. A couple years later, I get into bath and body works again and I start digging into my old purses or backpacks to see if I'm missing any goodies, and then I found that hand sanitizer STILL HALF WAY FILLED UP😂

At my school we had something called the "Candle Mafia"4th-6th Grade would have a candle make I was one of the candle makers and Members would Write down What scent they wanted and peers would vote on a scent Then the Boss would count and see what had the most Votes Apple Cinnamon was Pretty popular including Raspberry and there were Around 5 mafias I was apart of the First one the first one mostly had Hispanics and Asians and Blacks the second one was Mostly White people and the third one was all of the above including 4-5th Mafia the first Mafia was 5-6 grade and Second was 4-5 grade and The rest was 4-6 and me and my best friend were in the same Mafia The first mafia was for the Most skilled and to get in you'd have to make a candle and if everyone in the first Mafia said No then answer would be no

That's why I like her! Anyone can do this, mixing together sanitizers, but the amount of research and detail she puts in makes it much more entertaining and even educational lol.

I did that once with my best friend when we were like 8. But it wasn't a sleepover, and I'm not exactly sure what our goal was. I don't know what else we included, but I know that we included water(presumably), lotion, and orange juice.

Yesyes, I did that with my sister everytime we were at our grandma's house. Honestly, seeing the different chemical reaction or changing colors as we added stuff in, was so fun. We also hated throwing them out so our grandma had to wait until we got away to throw it, so we got to see them change in the course of 2/3 days which was also really fun!

Just a tip from my mom who sniffs and tastes wine for a living! Smelling grounded coffee between scents can help clear and reset your nostrils(?) to get the next scent better! Because after a while of sniffing, the scents start to mix and blend.

As an employee, I can say this goes for us too. We get shipments every morning besides tuesdays and we have absolutely no clue what’s going to be in them until they show up. Will we get the glitter pedestal we’ve been sold out of for 4 months? Maybe, no telling until we open the boxes

I'm a huge fan of the 'mixing every kind of thing together' concept. I once had my friend who worked at Dunkin Donuts make me a Fruit Coolata with every single flavor mixed together. It ended up being so awesome I actually ended up doing it again several times.

Hey there! Medical assistant here. Just wanted to remind everyone that if you want to kill as many germs as possible with your hand sanitizer you should always apply a coin sized amount (usually I go for nickel sized amount) and rub vigorously all over your hands and wrists until the sanitizer completely dries. This method kills much more bacteria than simply rubbing a few times and air drying or moving your hands around to dry. Hope this helps!

For future videos, the smell of coffee beans cleanses the olfactory receptors. Humans can differenciate 7 different smell on average, after 7, the sensors become overwhelmed and "shut down" so you won't be able to smell as well as before. Many perfumeries and shops in my country keeps coffee beans in a small container to refresh the senses of their customers. Hope you will see this and it will help you in future smelling-requiring videos :)
What do you do for those of us that cannot stand the smell of any coffee? Are there other nasal cleanse scents that work?

Smell your arm -- it helps resets your nose (or something like that). Sounds weird, don't remember where I heard it from but I've tried it when smelling several things and it does help.

With malls dying even before Covid, I think it's a smaller problem than in the '80s when they made Mall Rats.
The one close to me is in the local mall and when I was young me and my dad would go and walk the mall. And we would always go to what I called and still do call the 'smell good store' and pre pandemic we would just go in and smell all the open products with the try me stickers.

French lavender is a specific variety of lavender, distinct from English lavender and Spanish lavender. It smells less strongly than the lavender we usually think of, and it also smells more like rosemary. Most things labeled “French lavender” are actually scented like English lavender, but labeled that way because we associate lavender with France and it sounds fancier. 👍🏻

It's called the Keyes' Effect, and it's a phenomenon when sheer thinning non-Newtonian Fluids collide with themselves (when liquids that get thinner with pressure). The low pressure bead floated on top of the high pressure pour area, ik the king of random made a few videos abt it

FYI, leaving hand santizer exposed to the air as long as you did will evaporate out a good portion of the alcohol, leaving only the gel. That's why it's going cloudy at the surface. As the alcohol evaporates out, the ratio to water changes and some of the dissolved components may come out of solution.
Alcohol based hand sanitizers are only effective if the alcohol content is above 70%. If you wanted to still use the frankentizer as a hand disinfectant, I would add a portion of 100% alcohol (either isopropanol or denatured ethanol, depending on which the original contains) to bring it back above the 70% required for it to be effective.

The alcohol is in gel form, so it doest evaporate as quickly, and not nearly as quickly to drop the alcohol content that low (hence why the alcohol smell was still very strong even days after it was made), and also she's adding new alcohol on top of the old one, which creates a protective layer on the molecules that were heating up (which also helps that the bowl is made of glass).

At 10:45 I believe the “rogue bead” is an example of the phenomenon known as the “Kaye effect” where non-Newtonian gel-like substances such as shampoo or in this case, hand sanitizer, when squirted at a specific velocity will bounce off of themselves.

I’ve heard that it doesn’t actually reset your nose per say, apparently coffee beans do nothing to help your nose when you get overstimulated by lots of smells, it’s more so a distraction than anything else and barely helps at all. In reality despite being extremely weird and unbelievable, the best thing to do if your nose is overstimulated by tons of smells is to actually smell your own arm, I know sounds completely crazy but it’s true, perfumers actually use this technique if they ever get olfactory fatigue from smelling too many different scents

That only works for select people though. Smelling any form of coffee can result in migraines for people sensitive to scents.
Although no one sensitive to scents would ever do what she did in this video 🤣 Personally, I can only use a select few items from Bath and body works men's items (the women's have too strong of scents) and for the sanitizers I'll dilute them with unscented hand sanitizer.
I end up with a little bottle of their sanitizer that is all Purrel hand sanitizer plus 3-5 drops of the scented stuff.
