The biggest problem is that new players, the ones most likely to have only 4 or 5 tabs, will have no idea what stuff to keep or discard. I have a lot of tabs now that I don't use, in part because of the QoL tabs, but also because I don't collect nearly as much stuff as I did in the beginning.
That I agree. I collected just about everything when I first played POE. But then that's part of being a newbie and discovering the way nature of the game. Most were painful lesson but useful ones nevertheless. I only started buying tabs after a year of playing.

I know many collect skill gems despite there being a vendor with them. If people collect skill gems, flasks, (gear they think is good), keep all uniques (in case they should need one) At this point they might have reached maps. And now BOOM! everything is full because maps and raw currency takes up a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooot space. That's withouth counting all the other things I've mentioned. It gets even worse if you want to organise the currency and maps. Oh wait? What's this thing? a divination card? Imagine needing to be stupidly selective with which div cards you pick up.
What I'm getting at is that even if you were an experienced player doing what badger is doing. You will soon realise that the default space we're given just doesn't fly longterm and then "force" you into buying tabs if you don't quit because screw all this micro management of a small stash.
True, I used to fill up my 50ish tabs so quickly but then as I got better I barely use like 8 a league maybe now and could almost certainly trim that down to 5 or lower.
@@kizzagaming6523 When I play in league I have excess tabs, although in standard I'm slightly considering getting a new tab because I hoard and have some tabs I haven't sorted out yet. (there is how ever only 2 remove only tabs left) but theres a reason for that.
3 to 1 map recipe doesn't give you always the same map, in fact, it's the best way to complete fast your ssf atlas by trying the same map but different ones in combinations like if you had 10 atolls, try the first 3, change the 4th, 5th and so on until you get the desired +1
I do exactly that even on sc cause i dont want to waste time trading and just wan't to progress my atlas to the max without purchasing any maps other than the ones of kirac

This is not correct. It has been done before. There was a guy on the forums, I think Deadpeng was the name, who levelled to 100 with just the 4 tabs.
it was done by multiple peoples. It actually teaches way more than having multiple tabs.

I’m very interested in seeing/hearing your thoughts on this all said and done. Having gotten tabs pretty early into playing poe I can’t even imagine not having them.
You need 3 tabs to play PoE: That's currency, Maps and one premium trade tab. Which is really cheap if you ask me for such an amazing game that gets constant updates.
I only started upgrading after my first two leagues. I would then get Fragment Tab and a quad dump tab.
Right now I still don't own a lot. But you really don't need a lot and if you buy them only during sales its incredibly cheap for the hours I have spend in PoE.
I think it would've been a much more interesting experiment if you never entertained the option of purchasing a $4 premium stash tab. But I still enjoy your content and will probably watch and enjoy every one in this series.

No sir, you're not understanding what FREE means in "free to play". Any amount of money that isn't zero isn't free, even 4$.
He didn't say he will, but "he's giving himself the opportunity". But indeed I don't agree with him buying it for this series. Not being able to sell is part of the f2p experience.
Agreed, Love Badger, but immediately that nullifies the whole point. OH, and to people that don't know YOU CAN sell things without premium tabs! I did it for years because I knew no other way. You have to manually make the posts on the trade forums. (yea, its a pain, but you can do it)

I love this concept! Looking forward to seeing when you do run in to the annoyance of having only those four (five) stash tabs, and how you solve that.

Let us see how long it takes you to reach 50 ex. However, the moment you pay for anything, stash tab or whatever, is the moment you end the series. Hope you keep going with it. Best of luck, and awaiting your daily diary updates.
one premium tab for trading is almost mandatory, trading via site is just masochism

@@happzy Regardless of its qol improvements it still negatively impacts the concept of this series.
Affinities were the biggest QoL added to PoE in years. I have about 30 tabs w/ 8 quad tabs, but ever since Affinities I only use maybe ~10-12 of them, and I could easily cut that down to ~5-6 as long as I had the currency + map tabs. Those are the only 2 mandatory ones for me.

Item filter is more important than stash tabs imho.
im completely F2P for 2 years its easier in SSF than trade lemme tell you , as SSF dictates what you keep and loot not like in trade that almost everything above 5C is worth keeping lol , this hasnt been a problem for me as it wasnt a "money" choice but a playstyle choice choosing and sticking to 2-4 builds a league and maximizing tabs and items picked up is kinda fun for me

Up until about a week ago I've played this game F2P, then I upgraded a single tab to a premium tab and made 7 ex in 30 minutes. Crazy how a single MTX can completely change the game for you. Not 100% necessary but it's definitely recommended if you play the game a lot.
i played this game for years with 4 stash and my first HH was with 4 tab, i was using a program that allow me to sell some items but nothing special the only problem with play with 4 tabs you need to chose between chaos/ex or just stock the right currency to sell after, its really hard but you can play this game without stash xD but you will suffer
With such small space I would try to bulk sell one thing on tft to avoid trading without premium tabs and It would be something you can stack like astragalis

i started playing poe in ritual and i played ultimatum and archnemesis wiht only a currency, map and a premium stash + the free ones and in this league that i'm doing end game content i got 200ex and i'm certain that i would get double that if i had the tabs since i don't pick up scarabs and essences since i don't have a place to put them and i run uber strict so i don't pick many things beside currency
btw if soemone is strugling with tabs i put things that i don't plan to sell for now ar thing that i would no use in the moment in other character's

You can get different results. E.g. if you have 5 of the same T4 map, mix various 3 and you can get different T5.

Seems like if your filter hides something, then you shouldn't store it. Only keep maps in the current tier and 1 under what you are running. Essences bellow shrieking? nope. etc. The new convenience tabs often have you storing a ton of stuff you'll never use by just keeping it out of the way.
Wicked concept kind of reminds me of a poverty safari. BTW I am currently playing POE F2P only, don't know if paying money is as much of an increase in gameplay as in games like OSRS.

is not possible to play lategame without tabs, it will be like 4 times slower than having tabs with the time u waste creating new characters to storage and then you dont find the things and then you dont sell the things fast enough and everything is full and you cannot play you need to make more chars etc.
I am wondering. Have you ever tried to use a controller to play PoE?
My brother in law can't stand using mouse and keyboard. He only plays on consoles and loves ARPGs
Heya, disabled player here. So, TLDR on Controller support right now. It's not perfect. While you are in combat/in maps it's fantastic, really helps your hands. Out of combat/IN town or HO, its a nightmare to move things around, select tabs and such. IF, they can get it, to where it shifts from Controller to K&M seamless without having to restart the game, it will solve almost all the problems. But right now, even with my hand problems I still play with K&M, because it's such a pain. Hope that helps. :)

i finish my 200ex build with just 4 stash, i cant sell item but essense and expedition is awesome to get currency
You can free2play to finish the campaign BUT need buy stash when wanna grind endgame and by that point ... why not support the game already if you wanna start grind the endgame content ... right?
can't you still have items appear as listed in the trade website by putting them in a forum post with the right formatting? if that works you should try how painful is that before buying the tab.
mageblood div cards needs to be there in 3.18 i mean an Ex is 160/175c each league is insane and unbalance
In the coolest way possible my guy, buying a premium tab so you can list stuff at ease is not a completely free-to-play experience? Respect the idea and thought behind the series for sure but at least don't buy the tab as it's the point of the series no?
if ur doing COMPLETELY Free to Play as you say then you shouldnt get the premium tab. If you do your basically just playing the game as an experienced player with a limit. I think doing it without the extra tab would be more informative and entertaining.
i play this way for years,and is a nigthmare,next step:make new characters and use it as dump items there,have fun!

I always liken PoE F2P as a Free Campground. Sure you can roll up and just lie down in a spot and sleep, but you know... we also sell these "tents" that you might be interested in... Seems a stretch to say GGG intends for you to play with 4 tabs. If they gave too many they would de-incentivize people to buy them, and break their own monetary model.

your knowledge of the game will skew the results, a new player will fill his 4 tabs in no time and then worse than that is that he won't know what to keep and what to vendor
stash tabs are a must purchase if you plan on playing the game for more than a few days

im 100% for the real f2p experience. If someone is willing to purchase a premium tab, the, also will be okay with purchasing a currency tab etc. go completely f2p, thats what many go through

When I started POE i only had the 4 stash tabs for a pretty long time. Before I bought a premium tab to sell stuff I remember using this external program to sell. I can't remember the name of it but maybe it still works?

When I played PoE. What I really wanted was someway to post/buy items IN-GAME and not through a 3rd party website.

Technically the GGG trade site is not 3rd party, but it is not in game either. They won't ever have a convenient trading system, by design.
Console has it and it is V E R Y meh. It is extremely tedious and annoying to search for specific rolls and mods on items. Super easy to price fix and control the market as well.
I think the premium tabs are fine this is a part of the game, you start and if you like the game puting 20 usd on it will be like buying the game it doesnt hurt the economy either.
I do not think Premium stash tab is fair there arw ways wich you can list stuff on trade websides as F2P player but they are annoying
I played about 10 000 hours BEFORE i bougth any stash tabs its posible? yes its annoying? YES
Biggest problems for me where Currency and maps cuz rest you can just buy or sell easy

@@g76agi i dont care if you belive me im soon hiting 10 years till i started playing in close beta and i have only bough one map stash got one free from bundle one currency and 2 upgrades to premium in SC trade is more than enough thou i realy feel lack of fragment tab
you should buy the new blood pack later down the line .. as new player most likey will spend money on it first or only on that. that's about it .

Let’s say you get to endgame, are you planning on not picking up maps? As much as I get what your doing, not having tabs cripples the gaming experience so much if I was a new player, I would absolutely think this is a trash game. If a player can’t fork out as least 15 dollars for a game like this, they don’t deserve to play.
