@@Bloniesbeeboop It's sort of a running joke. If at any point you feel like you're NOT a new player, then that means you think you don't have anything left to learn. There is ALWAYS something to learn in PoE. It's part of the allure.

Came back to PoE after like 6+ years and all these new mechanics kind of shocked me. I just sort of learned through trial and error, but this video helps fill in the gaps, and it helps me learn "oh, that thing is called that." Hey Zizaran! I am a new player who just completed the campaign for the 1st time by following your cold DoT starter guide + trying to get through your PoE University series!
This video was a godsend. I have been struggling with the older longform videos. I found myself needing to follow along with the wiki to really understand you, checking things, pausing, replaying, until it clicked. I'd find myself hopping between videos to try and understand something I didn't 100% follow then returning to the original one. Im just getting lost in details that don't really apply to me right now.
Doing these TLDR versions with links to more indepth videos really helps with all that, and thank you so much for this!!!
So far, I am getting a lot of useful information but I am a bit lost on how to get started to acquiring the gear in the starter guides. I'd love to see a video like this one but maybe with crafting techniques or currency farming techniques? I can't even put together the "early game" items in the PoB and am a bit lost.
Again, thank you Zizaran. This is my like 5th attempt to get into PoE and I wasn't able to even do the campaign until I watched you content.

this was a great video! When i was a new player, i was also concerned about the safest ways to get experience - for example, I spec into harbinger, and add abysses and run temple chronicles when i want some safe XP. Perhaps worth mentioning where a mechanic will add lots of experience, or safer experience? Unlike say essence or Delirium which can be a bit more rippy

I play casually at the start of each league and I realised that after a while I just spec my Atlas tree the same way every league, just playing the mechanics I like most without clear purpose. I actually think betrayal and harvest are one of the most important things to pick up early while learning the basics of crafting. crafting in ssf is super important but you can safe (or make) SO much currency while crafting your own gear. using harvest and essences to craft your items and finish them with crafts found from unveiling items is so strong for early/mid tier items when you just get into crafting and you can craft incredible items worth multiple divines with 10-30c investment which is really valuable for people that are not that good with farming currency yet.
Just spamming a few bound fossils on convoking wands and crafting a trigger craft or throwing a few minion damage essences onto gloves until you hit life/dex/a few resists and crafting the missing one onto it makes such good items.
Harvest is also super useful to either craft cluster jewels or just mindlessly throw a few crafts onto a base until it looks better (if you find a stygian for example just throwing a few life or chaos rerolls onto it can make it really usable really fast)

I'm just starting POE and the last arpg I used to play was literally Diablo 2 (back in the days). I decided to start because I'm undecided in buying D4. I found out that poe is the most complex game available online, and this video proves it even more. There's so much mechanics available through the years this game has been active. It's very overwhelming as a casual newbie. But, so far, with my 20 hrs playing it. I have been excited to progress more and more, it's addicting. (reason I ended up to this vid lol)

It would be nice if you explain how to scale individual league mechanics if you make a new video for every league mechanic. New player for example often dont know that Essences do NOT scale at all with map tier or anything other than extra essences and the atlas tree. They will mistakenly do higher tier maps while farming essences not knowing they could do it faster and better at low tier maps.

Hey, thanks a lot for the video, I haven't played PoE in 6 years and everything is confusing af.
The forsaken masters, all these new currency items, Einhar, Niko, Expeditions, Heists?!
If anyone remembers, 6 years ago you would make parties for Daily jobs for the forsaken masters to increase their level for more crafting options at their crafting table. Now all tables are merged into one.
But I think the story is better, after killing Kitava you meet Kirac and the vanguards that fight threats from other realms.
It's more logical than meeting Zana who makes you go alone to fight Shaper, Elder.

the amount of league mechanics vs the chance of each individual mechanic to spawn makes it harder to get league specific uniques.. a great example of this is the astral projector ring from metamorph. only drops from tanes lab mechanic or a div card that drops from 1 map boss after changes. as time progresses it becomes harder to get each unique. that being said, the kirak missions can help with the div card farming.

Great video, just shows me that Path of Exile has to many complicated mechanics. even at 600+hours I need to finish maps and other bits before I start learning this stuff.

I maxed out the atlas essence and sometimes it's like death itself is encaged. It is just rng what appears on the map or should you as a newer player put less points into essence? Most of the time I can kill them but I ran into some really strong one a few hours ago. It was 2 mobs with insane health, they shot fireballs and ice things like a snowflake out from their bodies and dropped a lot of blood balls that exploded into smaller ones. It was such an annoying thing had to run around for many minutes because I couldn't get near them. I'm still trying to learn the game, using your pathfinder ballista build but I feel so weak(SSF).

My 1 bit of criticism I have for this video would be to not show footage of the league mechanic from the past. I feel it could get very confusing for people who are watching a listening and seeing things they would never see ingame anymore. Example, when you were talking about Harvest, you were showing footage of when it was current content. A new player watching and trying to listen I am sure would be pretty confused when they see their interface/game different from the video they are watching. Other than that I feel this video was very well done!

      @Zizaran  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah Harvest was the only one with outdated footage, but I think more important than showing the state it's in (kill mobs get juice), it is to show the actual aesthetic of the mechanic as that's what's memorable and sticks to your brain when listening to something.
(Also I hate harvest and didn't wanna run it for the video)

Aw man, I started playing like a month ago and I wanted to do it entirely blind, build and everything. See if I can understand the game. I am currently going through red maps for points on the Atlas. Got two or three Maven invitations. I killed the Infinite Hunger and The Black Star. I came here to see if I missed anything on the leagues (and Harbringer and Beyond which never showed up).
What I got was embarrassed by my character when I saw his character jump two screens away and end everything in one swing. lol

Hey there, super new player here, almost done with act 5, currently level 44. I understand this video is kinda old but is the newest mechanic (the fog of war WildWeiner Bologna) just harvest but in the dark? I'm kinda confused. I've realized that so far I've run into Niko for mining, which has been pretty cool and so far the hardest content in the campaign, and I've also done the wildweiner stuff (3.23) and I think I've also done the one where you open some strong boxes and hold right click for 12 seconds until everything is dead , and the only other one I've done was easy as well (It's like some sort of glowing red wall, not even sure if it's a mechanic)
TLDR: is harvest just the current season (3.23), but with fog of war?

Very new to this game and even with things boiled down like this, it’s still somewhat daunting to get in and figure it all out. Trying to find a guild that is newb friendly, if anyone has one or could steer me in a direction, that would be much appreciated.😊

The issue for me with POE is not the depth of it, i play grand strategy games, but it's the lack of explanation for even the most basic stuff, everything i need to know i have to google it. Imo the game needs some kind of tooltip system that can be turned on/off in settings wich would give us information about everything we hover over with a mouse, Victoria 3 for example has that kind of system, so if you hover over a word chaos damage in passive skill tree it tells you exactly what it is and so on. I hope Poe 2 is gonna have something like this.

Useful info, but as someone who plays this game on and off (1-2 leagues a year), semi-casually and usually completing the atlas after 1-2 weeks depending on build, I find it very hard to have time for all the stuff you mention as 8+. Also, in trade league, I tend to skip Essences and crafting and just buy what I need, except for adding finishing touches, crafting is super complex and easy way to loose a lot of currency for nothing. And Essences are not selling for much compared to the effort of getting them, at least not when league gets some days old.

I've been playing PoE for 2-3 leagues, so I know a thing or two, but I still feel like a beginner :D
And as a beginner, here's a small piece of advice for others who are just starting:
THE SKILL TREE ONLY LOOKS SCARY - you have to struggle a bit by yourself, but you're here, so check out which of Zizaran's builds you like and let him guide you by the hand at least until the map stage. (there's a second tree waiting there :D)
Even if you watch a guide, you still can't earn those super-extra ways that everyone praises? F*ck that xd There are a million ways to make money in this game, so go and find the mechanic that gives YOU the most joy :D It's a game, not a job xd You're here to have fun, not to get frustrated (like I did in the first month :
