I’ve built the diedricksen, variation without the swing out as it’s in wild animal and the occasional bear country. Used 2x6 for the main A frames and walls, I have no doubt it could be put on a trailer / it’s solid as a rock. The little buddy propane heater is ample even without insulation in the NC winter. Keep in mind a light colored roof keeps the temp down substantially in the summer, and a small vent near the floor on one end and a small vent near the ceiling on the other naturally cools it too. Love the cabin, does anyone know the measurments of the footprint and height? I'd like to build something a similar size. Didn't see any measurments in the comments
Great job, well done guys. If you do another one, use wooden pins or nails, not screws for the framing, outside the stresses and strains from the elements will require the frame to be a little flexible. Screws are great where there is no movement and will snap when put under tension, where as a pin or nail will bend, which also helps stop the timber from splitting. 8~)
Bad advice. Nails actually back out and get loose over time due to expansion/contraction due to temp/moisture changes. Modern structural screws are designed to compensate for this. It's not like the old days where the screw heads would just pop off if the wood expanded. You guys absolutely made the correct choice.

Also, our town doesn’t have any short term rental restrictions
Absolutely Superb Video you two. In my opinion. Small A Frame Houses are actually better if you have to rough it a little bit. Go back to Nature Folks. Maybe I missed it. What is the Square Footage. Also, did you Guys have plans or did you build this masterpiece from scratch?
Thank you!! We bought plans by Elevated Spaces on Etsy and customized them to our liking.
Thanks for your response Folks. I found out about that after I originally seen your Video.
Hola me encanto quedo hermosa cual es el alto que queda la construcción y felicitaciones ..gracias 🇨🇱
Thanks for watching! The A-Frame is about 12ft in height.
Good job..Happy Family.. Congratulations 🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😊
Absolutely loved this and well done on a great achievement! I am going to be doing something similar so this has been a great source of inspiration, thank you 🌻
Thank you for your kid words! We were tight on money and low on experience but did it anyway and it was one of the best risks we’ve ever taken. Go for it and good luck! 😃
@@TheDoerDuo thanks so much! I'm in exactly the same boat. No such cash and absolutely zero building experience, but hey, we live and we learn 😁 thanks again 🙏
Do you have a bathroom out building somewhere ??
Yes we have an outhouse, outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen. Our most recent video gives a full tour.
So beautiful, I would say that a little bit bigger and would be better. Very nice.
Thank you! 😊
Well done!
Thank you. 😊
I would use it as an off grid cabin complete with a fire stove , tiny kitchen, table and a cozy bed as if I’m away from home in the middle of a forest.
We have added all of those things. It’s a lovely little getaway.
Where is this cabin? What state?
It’s in Maine
Why did you paint the walls if you were going to then put insulation over it?
We weren’t going to add insulation initially but decided to do it to extend our rental season.
Beautiful cabin
Thank you! ☺️
