These are the new space stations in No Man's Sky! The Orbital Update is out right now for No Man's Sky and the main feature is completely overhauled space stations. Space stations now have new exteriors and interiors, and more than just 1. Each space station found in normal systems is procedurally generated based on the alien race and the economy of that system. It is so awesome seeing the different types and colors used. Let's check out the new stations and see where everything is.

I love the fact that the abandoned stations are still the original stations, I love to use them as a nostalgia trip.
I absolutely love that the station colors are procedural now. I found a station that's completely purple inside with golden lightening, it's really beautiful. Now I'm wishing I could make my own freighter base look like that.

I really hope they eventually update the abandoned space stations with the assets added by The Desolation update. There needs to be a really good reason to explore them so turning them into a large-scale dungeon with high difficulty and high Rewards. Same goes for the abandoned planetary facilities . It's always bugged me that as Assets in the game improve certain areas are still left using the original assets that look out of place.

I do not agree with this tbh because abandoned stations are like a reminder of the past of the first iteration of space stations back when the game came out

@@Aussie-Spino yeah but they really serve no purpose in game and there's really no reason to even land on one because what little is there isn't worth the time spent. But they definitely need to give a makeover to the abandoned planetary facilities and the crashed planetary freighters.
While the new space stations are undeniably impressive, I can't help but imagine how perfect they would be with a convenient teleporter placed in the center of the landing zone. It's a small addition that would streamline navigation immensely, especially considering how often my ship seems to land on the furthest platform from all the vendors. Nonetheless, despite this minor inconvenience, the updated space stations are truly awe-inspiring and a testament to the ongoing evolution of No Man's Sky's universe.

I did find that the launch tunnels are different depending on the systems economy. And with that so far I found that the space stations in manufacturing economy systems, will have a vaulted triangular shaped launch tunnel, that looks really cool.
I love that the outlaw and abandoned stations look the same! Kind of like the lore of abandoned or outlaw invaded stations are like relics of the past. 2016 players will know!
I agree with the abandoned station looking like 2016 station I literally get flashbacks to my first time playing when I enter them however I would love if pirate stations atleast has their exterior changed for it to look similar to the pirate dreadnought ascetic
I think the 3rd floor should be a residential area for those who sleep in the Space Station. I also think the Space Station Override will allow us to take control or atleast alter what the new Space Station looks like.
I love that everything about the space station inside and out is randomly generated, from colors to having 4 huge towers on the outside.
At Korvax stations, you can give the station core Atlandium and it will talk to you...

You can find npcs to hire on floor 2
If you can't find the specialist your looking for go to different space station or look harder

@@MrTHQ123 When I had to hire an overseer in the new space station, the icon just stayed at the entrance of the station's runway. I ran around the 2nd floor and talked to a bunch of Geks, but no dice. I flew out of the station, on my way to try another system. Then I decided to fly right back into the station, hop out of my ship and reload from restore point. That moved the icon away from the entrance of the station and put it on the Gek I needed to talk to.

You can now summon ship inside Outlaw/Abandoned space stations.
I keep hoping one day we can take trader missions where we load up our capital ship with a bunch of cargo (an entire storage bay) and have to fly it to a system a long way away for credits or a reward. On the way, fight off pirates. I want to be a space trucker!!!

Thanks for the look at the new stations. I was curious what the other stations (abandoned, Outlaw) looked like if they had changed at all. Thankfully they are the same. I agree with you, I hope they don't change them. It's nice to see touchstones to the past within a game that keeps changing for the future.
Hey Jason loved the video, in my opinion the walls you saw on the third floor with the X sign they kind of look like an airlock so yeah hello games might add something there hopefully. Would be neat if what we thought about what the station override does will come true, having your very own space station sounds epic.

I was in the tenth galaxy when I spotted the changes, I had thought they changed things in the later galaxies
I am kind of sad that they seem to have changed even the Euclid stations and removed all the old stations and layouts,
But they've done a great job

Another change in the new stations is that in all stations I've found plants I can get carbon from when I check them and will fin crates you can check out that give you credits. Not a lot of them ,but usually a few hundred per crate so for someone just starting out with a new game, every bit helps.

Do we know where to recruit scientists on this new update? Can't seem to find anyone now haha
It looks like with the Orbital Update they also introduced the "Pirate Transponder" which you can receive on dostroying pirate ships. These you can donate to Envoys of the Mercenaries Guild. The problem is: where to find such an envoy? The new space stations only have Explorer Guilds envoys as it looks like. So I've found one at a Planetary Archive. You can donate your Pirate Transponders there and level up with your standing in the guild. Some very good stuff to redeem!
My guess is the overriding the stations overseer will work like towns. Get to own them and possibly live on them. That's a big IF but I am hyped either way.

Where do I hire staff now?
I keep waiting for you to recognize or acknowledge that there is only one merchant, explorer or mercenary on each space station. I have been to 20 space stations looking for a mercenary envoy and it's frustrating that I can't find one. (Also if you teleport to old space stations that you catalogued before the update you can find yourself falling through space beneath the new stations.)

The rusted panneling on the korvax station looked wierd.

I think they could also add abandoned stations / pirate stations with the new floor plan and also keep the old (like multiple variations of them) because abandoned stations don't really offer anything, except maybe nostalgia. There should at least be something of worth to be found there.

I haven’t finish my side missions yet because I’ve been exploring a lot. I’m currently on “Expanding the Base” and I can’t continue because of this update the space rations have the one room to hire yet.

I’m terrorfied that the station core looks like if a station core and a sentinel walker had a child, which probably means that space stations have a affiliation with sentinels
And also how it moves closer to the player observing it when you communicate with it gives me chills
I think the outlaws and abandoned systems being outdated makes sense as no one's there who cares for them and upgrades them, right? I also think it will have a nostalgic factor when going into an abandoned system and seeing the old stations as we'll get used to the new stations
Honeslty i think Hello Games is one of the best free to play game companies out there. Yes you have to buy the game but theyre doing so much to make it enjoyable. I hope they will update Pirate stations, but keep the Abandoned stations as the old version of the stations.

This is soo cool, imo its what been missing from the lore- it feels like an actual station! A little disappointing there's no atlas doors but tbh they were mega disappointing anyway - I hope overall APs bring better items/experiences/ literally anything else in this update. I just platinumed nms the other week so guess I'll be back sooner than I thought 😂😅
While they are awesome, I wonder if they will be expanded in the future. The one mezzanine on the left when your flying in is very empty. I also really miss the bar area and especially the WINDOWS looking out into space. It kind of blows me away that the window was removed, but before the game released, one of the very first gameplay demos, Sean specifically went from planet, to the station, and to that window to show the planet he was just on

I disagree about the abandon stations. Would like to see improvements (can still have locked doors, good for finding loot and expanding workable area) and even better the ability to take it over and make it into a base. Which should be resource intensive with ability to have merchants and everything with it generating credits (e.g. via taxing merchants).
Small basic query regarding staff specialists for your terminals at your bases...
Where do you travel to recruit the staff to man these bases? I see no terminal room or kiosk on this update.

I would like to be able to use the Station Core on the Abandoned Station and be able to customized it. 1 Station per account.
So, every 2 standing is 1% off, so hypothetically if you go through a lot you can get 100% off for your nanite stuff, takes a while, I have 75% off with gek currently
There's a lot of wall space on the upper decks that could perhaps eventually allow YOU to open your own shop at some point? Maybe claim a fix-'er-up abandoned stations?🤔. I'm hoping there will eventually be more to do with "commercial" economy. Settlement business system is kinda stale Lol.
I'd like to see a restaurant/bar/club up on the third floor. In the higher level "clean" type stations maybe a classy bar, i.e., a wine bar type but in the mining "dirtier" stations a club with the feeling of the old Star Wars bar. Maybe add some NPC security people to patrol. Adding these types of things will make the stations feel more alive, IMO.

I swear this update is awesome but I can't find a mercenary envoy in any star system that I go to. Is it because I maxed it out? Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how to find one?

Already deep into the Orbital Update and grinding through all manner of Fighters, Haulers, and Explorers to stock up on ship components.
Also, I’m sure Orbital will be added to to include ALL ship types and Space Stations in “Abandoned” and “Pirate” Systems will be enhanced too. 👍🏻👍🏻😁😁
The trailer says "More will come!" So excited! Although, a large majority of players still don't have it yet due to Nintendo and MS being so slow at certification. Hopefully soon.

If anyone can help me out, what type of map/chart do I need to scan for grounded ships? Is it the planetary chart at 3:38? Or do you just fly around searching for one, I can't find it using the visor.
Emergency cartographic data is the chart you need. It may give you a ship you can salvage but also may give you a crashed freighter location or a ship with a pilot that needs help. I usually get several (5-10) at a time to save having to go back to get more. I don't know what the odds are to get a salvageable ship versus the other ships. Also, if you are just flying around and find a Transmission Tower building, you can go in, solve the puzzle at the console and get the same results. You can tell the building type from the air as they have a tall transmission looking tower on the building. Happy hunting!

Its a shame they took the atlas pass doors away. Talking to the atlas added so much more mystery and lore.
