Hey brother! Thats an awesome gift. I've always wanted to get ahold of one of those conrods from rick. I emailed him earlier this year about having any extra 3.3 parts (specifically the conrods) and said he didnt unfortunately. Then a few months later I noticed he had put up a stock of 50 new rods on his website but I've been in a bind and cant justify buying any atm. It looks like hes still got 12 in stock at the moment and there was only 6 the other day. So hopefully that means hes seeing a demand for them and will maybe keep slowly producing them for us nitroheads. Im also interested on your conrods once their completed. Keep us posted brother!
I think there are around $50 US I'm not exactly quite sure on that they're on that and the shipping here I'm not sure how much that would be either but from what I can tell looking at it in hand The quality is very very nice and if you can't get one for whatever reason or don't feel like spending a lot of money on 1 if you just replace your factory connecting rod every so often that will help them not blow up usually pair that with a new piston pin and bearings to go with that's what I was doing for the longest time pull it apart check it for any kind of slope or where and then disreplace it
@@thebug4046 yea I literally just did that with my brothers 3.3 for his jato. Some FE bearings and a new stock conrod and wristpin, it's been hot and muggy here so I havnt had much opportunity to run it yet.
Sorry to hear about your transmission in your tmaxx. I also had trouble with my transmission I made it a 1 speed until I get a new one. My tmaxx works with the 1 speed it is not as fast as with the 2 speed.
I know the 2.5 and the 2.5R has the same piston and sleeve only difference is the pretty blue head but is the compression the same. I’ve read were people say the R is faster. I’ve personally never seen one run. I have a 2.5 with a few upgrades and thinking about going with the dynamite .19 over the 3.3
I Did a volleymetric test on the combustion chambers and tested the squish band clearance they're both the same. Haha and both definitely make more power
Thank you for responding back. I guess people see that pretty blue head and think wow it’s alot faster. I think traxxas sometimes play’s tricks on people for there lack of knowledge of rc’s. Like when they came out with the 2.5 back in the day making it sound like it’s bigger then the pro .15 by calling it a 2.5.
@@Jasonkartracing it's sad that Traxxas makes up so many stories. None of there engines are race engines. They are just cheap rtr Taiwan engines. They make a 15 a 15 a 15 and a 20 lol they sell one as a 15 and two as the 2.5 because it sounds bigger when in reality .15=2.5cc 😆
I got one more stupid question if you’re going to do upgrades to a motor like filter, exhaust, clutch and head is it best to break it in with the stock parts or can you break it in with the aftermarket parts?
Completely up to you. I see a lot of people send a engine for mods and brake it in after. Same kinda thing with for example a 350 chevy people build them up into a monster then do a brake in not gunna hurt Nothin
Hey man glad you uploaded. I have a question what’s the best and easiest way to take off my 3.3? Off the mount or off with the mount? My clutch spring went bye bye after only one gallon of fuel 😢 I suspect it rusted. I drove 2 tanks on the slat water beach. I would love to see how the connecting rods turn out!
@@thebug4046 yeah I won’t be doing that again. It’s fun that you can make jumps and crap in the sand but that’s it. It sucks to clean up, I’m still finding sand to this day lol. Im sticking with dirt pavement and grass. Also if I could see it I would have put wd40 on it to stop rust. I’ve been doing that on everything that’s rusting.
Was wondering if you run a little extra Klotz in the fuel, for your “home made” rod in the GT? Or do you run the same fuel as normal? It is always fun to work on engines and it is always fun to watch you and other do it too. That’s for the vid. - PS. What’s up with people asking about your finger nails ⁉️ LoL
I have run with extra Castor oil and without with just a normal fuel and haven't seen any different so far so good! And I have white spots on my fingernails sometimes and people think I paint my nails or they find my fingernails disgusting they like to leave ridiculous comments about that I don't know why. Lol
I really need to speak to someone who’s used these piston rods. How much run time is on your new piston rods. How are they holding up I got one and the drill hole and brass insert failed immediately. I have been messaging Rick at RB mods and emailing him also with no response I got a brand new engine and installed the RB mods Crank Rod. 2 tanks and the crank failed. The cost being over 100 Canadian to get it. Rick should have some sort of warranty shouldn’t he. Or at least give me some feedback. Now I’m out close to 400 dollars and it seems Rick don’t seem to mind that
He is actually retired and not doing it anymore unfortunately. But the one I made for my Diesel has helped up to the high compression no problem. And the other hand hand made rod in the pro 15 has gone 3 gallons so far with no bushings. The castor oil helps keep things alive that's one reason why I buy 8% oil fuel and bump it to 10% with klotz castor oil
@@thebug4046 yeah for a used nitro rustler they go for like 140 or something and the jato is like 200. freaking pricey for a used rc trucks. I'll see if I build one for cheap!

2.5mm hex key is all you need. Whole job should take 20 minutes. And sand and salt water is a big killer

When are RB Mods going to make more rods?? They need to keep those in production
He is retired he doesn't make the rods himself he designed them and it has another company make them

Go to RB MODS website 50$ USD and the 19 is just as i Is explained
