    Some bad comments on here so this is how I find the Kardia device. It was suggested by my cardiologist, we compared readings (from her ECG) and she was quite happy with the Kardia result. I don't always know when I have AF, this confirms when I do have it and I can adjust my medication to control it. It works well with my iPhone but does not work with my iPad. I think it is a great device

      Surely if you do not always know when you are having an AF episode you should be on permanent anticoagulant medication not as you say adjusting your medication as and when you feel the need.

      @@tommytee8387 You are quite right, but this was a year ago now. I was on regular blood thinners, it was the AF medication that was variable. Changed cardiologist and medication and now it is very rare that I notice having an AF episode

    Trace looks like it's inverted. I think placing the device flat near the mobile device will help keep movement and thus smooth the trace and give fewer movement artifacts. It's not actually an ECG in the traditional sense either. it just shows the contractile phases of the heart. It doesn't show more complex electrical activity but is very useful for gathering some simple data on arrhythmias. I think for someone with arrhythmias, this could a real help. Capturing arrhythmias as they occur helps physicians see at the time what was happening with the patient's heart rhythm.

  • @Macallan562
    @Macallan562 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    His T-waves were not inverted. He had his fingers on the wrong sensor pd no the entire tracing was inverted. The machine should recognize that. This machine will show other things even with that lead II configuration. It will show early late or skipped beats. You will be able to get rates for high HR ectopic rhythms . SVT, PSVT and true VT can be seen. Just not recognized for what they are. This is a very nice easy to use tool like the old Holter monitor or the current Event monitor.

    In the US, FDA just cleared KM to read Bradycardia and Tachycardia. They were read in the normal EKG, but you wouldn't see them popup in your results, only a doctor could read them. I'm assuming KM is trying to get all the various conditions cleared through FDA, but they have to do them one at a time. It was just a free software update, no additional charge for the two new conditions.

    My cardiologist told me to get a refund. Says it does not work. It's often gives wrong readings or says it can't read it at all. Their TV ad only talks about a price in the area of $79 and then they tell you everything the $149 one does. That is false advertisement they should say for $79 it will tell you if you have a fib and anything else you want to know cost $149 + $9.99 a month no matter which one you buy. This product is a rip off and anybody who endorses it is helping to cheat people.

    Great device, however, that EKG is NOT normal.
    Inverted QRS complex can be a sign of some very serious cardiac conditions.
    I’d recommend visiting your primary care physician ASAP to get this checked out!

      Tom anart, Hello Tom, Yes I did have a 100% successful cardio version in mid January 2019. Please trust and believe me that the only minute discomfort is having a cannula inserted into your arm which in my case was totally painless due to the skill of the Nurse who inserted it. My bed was wheeled into the theatre and whilst they were double checking my details which distracted me they put me to sleep and I awoke fifteen minutes later feeling perfect again. I walked into the Hospital at 9.50 am and I walked out at 12.30 pm. A very good friend of mine and his wife allowed me to stay at their home for two days as I live alone and I don’t have any living next of kin. As of today I have stayed 100% afib free. Please feel free to ask me questions but most of all do not worry for one millisecond about the procedure. Peter.

    Unfortunately the Kardia doesn't show the P wave or lack of it clearly. I have a Heal Force PC80B which when held against the skin just under the left nipple clearly shows the P wave. The PC80B trace is much clearer (always use a bit of water to improve the connection) but the interpretation of the trace by the software is not very good.

This is nothing more than a bait and switch scam I've been caught in it I've lost my money I have a device that doesn't do shit for me. And anybody who recommends this product is part of the scam whether they know it or not . As of today I have decided I'm going to listen to my doctor and throw this thing in the trash it's worthless, waste of money.

    Just so people know…. There is a 100$ more expensive version that gives 6 lead ecg.
    My personal experience with this device as follows
    I have a blood pressure cuff… it can register rhythm abnormalities
    This started happening with more frequency…. So i got this device
    Which gave something to take to a cardiologist
    Which is useful since these arrhythmias are sporadic and might not be present when you are in the dr office
    Ultimately i got diagnosed with afib … which is a problem that starts small but likely gets worse over time… particularly with age

    A replacement Kardia unit has just arrived. Like the first one, it is complete junk. It does not work and I can't depend on it for anything at all. Sitting stock still away from electronic interference and with arms resting on the counter, I continually get a negative report stating, "Kardia cannot get a good reading, too much interference, you must sit still ... etc." The only way to be more still is to be dead and I will be long before this thing gives me any result. Once, I could believe that the unit was bad ... when the second one does the same thing, I give up, it is junk ... do not depend on this for your heart health.

    There are more than a dozen different arrhythmias out there, yet it’s only looking for atrial fibrillation?? So what if you have heart blocks? Ventricular tachycardia? SVT? Junctional tachycardia? etc... Most important abnormal EKG it needs to pick up is STEMI (heart attack) which is shown on a regular ekg machine. It cannot replace an actual 12-Lead EKG where it shows the view of the whole heart in 12 angles, therefore I’m not sure how some reviews state their doctor is able to evaluate their heart condition based on this printout. This is simply not enough for doctor’s evaluation of your condition. If at least it can show an elevated ST which is a tale sign (not always) of an imminent heart attack, then I’d say ok, worth the money, otherwise no thank you.

    • @Shendue
      @Shendue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not meant to. This is specifically a portable device you take with you if you suffer from atrial fibrillation, so you can have an INSTANT reading on-the-fly everywhere and mail it to your doctor, something you won't be able to do with an actual EKG.
      Of course it's no substitute and will have to be followed by an EKG done with professional equipment.

    • @francisexperience
      @francisexperience 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not meant to be a competitor to a 12 lead machine. I had a pulse of 49 and it picked it highlighted Tachycardia. It does pick up ectopic beats as I have noted. I think it would show a STEMI but some would not recognise it. For £99 on Amazon it's very good for my atrial Fib. Good machine and very easy to use with my iPhone 6.

      @@Shendue this product is nothing but a scam, they're trying to advertise a product for $69 to $79 that doesn't do but one thing, unfortunately they don't say that in the commercial they tell you all the things $149 to $159 one does. That is called a bait and switch. Ask my doctor for the 12 digit code and she told me "no" and to not use it. Gives more false readings and bad information. So I asked do I need to buy the expensive one, and she said that's the one I'm talking about the cheap one is completely worthless and doesn't even give bad readings. All it's readings mean nothing because they are not consistent. She's tired of patience running into her office thinking they're about to die because this device is misread. Ask for more explanation and was told that was all the time she was going to waste on this worthless product and she suggested I do the same. Do not buy this product under any circumstances no matter what anybody tells you.

    My friend. Great video. But I noticed you have inverted T-waves. Unless this device is analyzing the AVR lead or other precordial leads (which can have inverted T-waves); I'd recommend a quick doctors visit to make sure no cardiac ischemia is going on. It would be nice if this device analyzing V1-V6. On the bright side, many people do have non-diagnostic inverted T-waves; which can be normal. I would love to purchase one soon. Question, does it only look for atrial fibrillation? That would be a huge limiting factor if true. If so, wouldn't they program it to capture V-tach, SVT, Vtach, and other life threatening arrhythmias? Just wondering. Thanks.

    • @HeartratemonitorCoUk1
      @HeartratemonitorCoUk1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly Kevin ... I have no idea what you are referring to. I am a tester of the device only and not an expert on what it is showing unless it tells me something is wrong. Maybe our friend Glyn Barnes at AliveCorUK could provide an answer here. Thank you for your input. Tris :-)

    • @mrpips76
      @mrpips76 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Glyn Barnes Thanks for the info Glyn. T waves are normally upright in lead 1. The testers readings had inverted T waves, which many times can insinuate cardiac ischemia...potential heart disease. And given that you state the device is analyzing lead 1, it wouldn't hurt if the tester went to his primary care physician or cardiologist for a full 12 lead EKG, as he has noted inverted T waves in lead 1 based upon his reading. The device is stating "normal" for his reading. I fully understand the "normal" refers to negative findings for "atrial fibrillation" versus any other life threatening rhythms. I don't mean to question anyone, it's just an observation. I think this product is a great product to have as many ppl have afib, which can be life threatening if untreated. Thank you for this products availability. Regards.

    Just so you know, an ECG is an echocardiogram in which a technician puts gel on your chest and uses an ultrasound wand to take pictures and video of your heart. An EKG is an electrocardiogram, in which your heart rhythm is recorded in graph format with no pictures or video being used.

    • @johnathantaylor5913
      @johnathantaylor5913 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Not true. In Britain, ECG stands for electrocardiogram. America tends to use the abbreviation EKG, but it's no different from an ECG in British English. Echocardiograms tend to be shortened to just "echo".

    • @inelsclassics4378
      @inelsclassics4378 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the confusion between American and English words. In the UK, you can have an Echo (echocardiogram) and an ECG (electrocardiogram). Those are the abbreviations here. Good to know in case one has to cross over to the other country for any reason.

      @@dme1016 well I was both recommended at doctors and in hospital a mini heart monitor. I do have leaky valve that causes irregular heart beats often. I don’t know how much you can trust those devices but it’s getting quite worse, so I would try anything to help doctors to have better look at my heart. Do you know much about those monitors? Are you in the field, I would love to hear from someone who has good understanding of how those things work and if they are worth money.

    This is BS I do ekg's all the time whats the point of having a 12 lead or 6 lead ekg if you can use this. A 12 and 6 lead is way more accurate and if someone showed me this I would joke at it. DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUS IT IS COMPLETE INACCURATE .

      Craig Anderson really? It is a certified product as far as i know. I think it is mainly for detection of atrial fibrillation - is this not possible with this product?

    • @craiganderson9819
      @craiganderson9819 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@aqua1262 As far as I can say this thing isn't really accurate do to understanding the layout of how the electrical impulses that the heart lets how from both the SA node and AV node. It would mainly detect the small yet minuscule heart beat that goes through your small veins and arteries in your finger tips. Aka through a pressure and vibration sensor laid out inside the pads of this device. When compared to an actual EKG that uses electrical detection with sensitive wiring places of 8 positive placement and 2 negative ground leads on the surface of the skin with the jell on the pads in order to create a conductive surface.

      A cardiologist recommended it to me a couple of years ago, but according to cardiac nurses it is nowhere near a substitute for a multiple lead ECG, and it mainly for detecting rhythm abnormalities that might need further investigation.

    • @Shendue
      @Shendue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It never says everywhere that it's a substitute to an actual EKG.
      It's just a portable device akin to an Apple Watch. It's useful in case you are walking around and suddenly feel something's wrong, so you can have IMMEDIATELY a tracking.
      Making an actual EKG would mean take an appointment and have it done. Best case scenario, you have to move to an infirmary or hospital. It may take several minutes. By the time you do, your reading may not be the same.
      This is to take on-the-fly readings and spot simple atrial fibrillation when you are doing sports or in vacation, so that you can mail them to your doctor.

    I gave you thumbs down because you failed to do what you said you were going to do, namely show what 'comes with it'. Where is the little sensor pad stored if you don't want to tape it to your cell phone? You, like every other ad for this device, just seem to pull it out of your butt, never showing where you got it from. Would it have been so difficult for you to have shown the box and its contents? Would have taken at least 10 more seconds. Very useless video when you fail to show these things. Sorry.
