When I add a pocket to a print garment, I match the print so the pocket is hard to see. It isn’t hard. Just mark the pocket on the fabric, then put the paper pattern piece on the fabric and draw the print on the paper, then put the pattern piece on a fabric scrap and match the pattern

Thanks for the sew along, I am looking for a pattern like this. I really want an inverted pleat on the back, would that be fairly simple to hack by adding about 3 inches to the back piece? I am not a beginner but not a well-seasoned sewer either.
There is fullness on the back because of the gathering so you would just need to calculate how big your pleat would need to be and add a pleat instead of gathering!

The optional topstitching is around the edge of the lapel after finishing the facing. Similar to the optional topstitching around the edge of the collar!
Very happy to have this tutorial and find it helpful. However, the pauses to show how the garment should like after each sewing interval are unclear because the fabric isn't being laid flat.

I love this shirt. Your explanations are excellent, Chelsea. I only had one yard of fabric, so I made it sleeveless (bound the armholes) and even had to use a different fabric for the inside back yoke. Looks so good, love it.

When sewing the facings down to the body, is the right side of the fabric up? Are you feeling the facings through the layer OR are you sewing from the wrong side so that the bobbin thread will be showing on the right side? Does that make sense?? THANK YOU for using fabric where it is easy to tell the right and wrong sides!!
Like before you sew them in? That is just how shirts are constructed. If you hemmed first then you would have your underarm seam coming to the edge of your finished garment. This makes it more vulnerable to wear and it wont look as professional.

This is actually a genius idea ❤More classic/vintage. Mismatched prints are more contemporary though.

The optional topstitching is around the edge of the lapel after finishing the facing. Similar to the optional topstitching around the edge of the collar!

oh sorry, i meant like those sheets she used to guide where to cut the fabric. did you use them? if not, how did you know what bits to cut?

What's the estimated time to complete this project ?
That is really hard to say because people work at such different speeds. I'd say maybe like 5-8 hours? But that is a very rough estimate haha
