Just wanted to give my appreciation to you channel, watched so many of your videos and gotten so many unique recommendations on cards to fill my janky decks with and ideas to different type of decks. Keep up the good work!
You started your channel the same year I started playing. Covid almost made me drop the game, but I'm glad it didn't. Thanks for sharing with us, Demo!
Just want to say congrats from The Netherlands here. Been following you almost since the start. Really love your obscure card videos and also your take on building more fun decks has really inspired my deck building and makes my EDH nights still a lot of fun. Thanks again and all the best for another 4 years!
Really enjoy your channel. One of my favorite things is your spotlights on old/obscure cards that aren't commander standards but are niche picks or work in specific techs versus just being staples like get lost or what have you. Your viewcount is criminally low but I love that you do your own thing. Always a good day when I see you've put out a new vid, keep it up.
Thank you for your content. Not only has your recommendations led to some underplayed unknowns seeing more play in my local LGS, this analysis has helped me evaluate cards in sets myself, leading to me finding niche, unique, or just helpful cards in sets moving forward.
Congrats on 4 year anniversary!! Crazy i started and found your channel around the time i got into edh after being a standard player. Kinda shaped how i think about how i'm building my decks also.
✋👋👋👋 me. That’s me. Definitely have 5 decks with maskwood nexus! They all have combos/synergies copies. Love it. Congrats on the 4 years! Love the content @Demo!
Congratulations on the 4 years! I’ve been here for about 2 and a half of those years. You’ve become one of my favorite Magic related content creators. Looking forward to more in the future.
Happy Anniversary! Very thankful for your videos and combos. I’ll get lost in the “Cards to Add” playlist on long drives all the time. So thankful for all of your content. I’m fully aesthetic budget cEDH player and I love testing obscure cards in my mains; The Odd Acorn Gang & Ms.Bumbleflower Thanks again for all you do. Would love to some unhinged Bloomburrow content 🎉 🫖 🐰 🌸 🃏 ⛏ 🐿
Public Enemy is an uncommon blue Aura from Capenna that changes games. It can go in any deck, as it doesn't support any one specific strategy, which is probably why noone knows it. For 3 mana it does so much. Kills a creature, lowers a stubborn opponents life total, noone can attack you until it leaves, taps out at least 1 opponents' board and then replaces itself when it is done. 3 mana.
Happy Anniversary man. Ive been a sub for maybe 6 months but the videos from before then made for good listening while I work, learned a lot from this channel. Definitely see why the Verge cycle from Duskmourn isn't making any sort of top 5 list from the last four years, but definitely a noteable set of lands, especially when its finished(if it gets finished). Definitely just a slot in replacement for basics that make the same color by default and all upside and as far as non fetchable dual lands go, I think they compete for the #1 slot.
Congrats on four years! This was an impressive who’s who, and with the pace of product release being what it is, a valuable rundown. I found 4 that I have to slot in immediately that I had never heard of before. Maybe some deep dive spin-off videos would make for a nice series. Your discussion of An Offer You Can’t Refuse made me wonder: how many naysayers of that card are paying the 2 when Smothering Tithe drops? So absolutely no question: AOYCR is an amazing card. Great picks all around. 🙌
Happy Anniversary! Love the channel. Since your channel came out, Rec Sage has been power crept out I think. You mentioned Cankerbloom but also Insidious Fungus is my favorite creature. Also Haywire Mite. Loran of the Third Path in white. Pest Infestation I think is the best of them all. Druid of Purification.
Congrats! For White card draw I put trouble in pair over tocasia's welcome and for protection I prefer Galadriel's dismissal over Surge of salvation. Being able to use it as an offensive tool is the reason why. I prefer the versability over being a free spell
A blue card that does not get any love is Slip out the back. Phase out a creature until end of turn and put a +1+1 counter one it. Also I've been having a lot of success with Renegade Silent from Dr Who, 4 mana 3[U] 3/3 at the beginning of your end step goad a creature the Renegade Silent gets a +1+1 counter and phases out.
For multicolor I would say either Take the bait or Tear Asunder (if going by color identity). Red would be Prisoner’s Dilemma. Blue is Witness Protection. Always hilarious. Currently I think the artifact Smoke Bomb is a real underdog that I didn’t even know existed until I opened my one pack of Assassin’s Creed cards. The low cost flash protection for any or no color really means it can come out of nowhere. Land I really like Arena of Glory. White I think Final Showdown is a good contender. Black would be Slaughter Specialist. As stated with Morbid Opportunist: creatures die constantly. Gift giving makes you less of a target while the Specialist just grows and grows. Green I like the Hulking Raptor. I wanted to not pick anything you did, but it was hard for green and black, especially omitting Legendaries. It does explain why you picked Unnatural Growth over Zoprandel (which sounds like a medication).
With how much the format has changed over the years, I thought an interesting video you might be interested in making is *What some colors can’t do or can do badly* while showing the few cards that can do something well off color, it seems like all the colors can do far more than they used too, the biggest offender in my mind would be Green
My picks: Land: field of the dead Artifact/colorless:rise of the eldrazi White: clever concealment Blue: fierce guardianship Black: insatiable avarice Green: the great henge Red: deflecting swat
Oriq loremage is amazing and I also don’t understand why it’s not used more 😂 Mirko, Alesha, I have like 5 decks that it’s insane in. Think it’s just that it doesn’t have good stats and needs to tap to be used
I thought Cosmic Rebirth was an amazing card and spec'd on a pile of 12 or so. I still can't believe it hasn't gone up in price. Underappreciated card for sure.
@ On paper it feels like it wouldn't be but I would draw it and groan because I didn't want to pay 4 mana and wait a whole rotation to see if I got value from it.
@@Dragon_Fyre When it was revealed a buddy told me it would be and I was saying "dude everyone casts atleast 2 spells mid to late game it's soooo good!" but in practice it never really did anything for me so it ended up being cut from like 3 decks.
@@Dragon_Fyre It depends on your playgroup. Intelligent groups will play around it or politicize it (make other people target you, or only draw / cast if they'll get a promise from you), which turns it into a one-sided fusion of arcane laboratory and spirit of the labyrinth. That can still be good, but it's a far cry from how the card performs against greedy playgroups, where you will drown in card advantage.
Not a big fan of your blue list, but your caveat about cost makes sense why you'd want a cheaper counter - I fall into the group of never wanting to give 2 treasures. Ravenform is good, but really only makes the cut in mono blue because permanently answering something like The One Ring needs to be an option. I haven't played Archmage of Runes yet, but it certainly looks promising - card draw and cost reduction combined clearly makes it broken in the right decks. Its big problem is the casting cost; mana reduction at 5 mana is slow and spellslinger decks don't usually want to be slow so it occupies a strange place. --- side note Emeritus is pronounced EEE-MARE-IT-US My big pick for what is missing is I think the most undervalued (and underplayed at 1%) blue card in the past few years: Ugin's Binding. Its problem is that you need to build around it, but when you do it becomes what is often an even better Cyclonic Rift. Outside of tribal specific board wipes, it definitely comes in as my number 2 blue wipe, basically tying with Rift. The key to playing it is to choose a small selection of colorless cards that make your deck functional. I play Ugin (getting him into play with a biding firing off is backbreaking for opponents), Nulldrifter and Arcane Proxy (which you can fire off for 3 mana), and Chromatic Orrery (which refunds 5 mana instantly). If you are playing blue and not in white or maybe black I strongly recommend giving it a try.
I really don’t think Roaming Throne is that good. I have tribal decks, but none of them actually need this. If you’re doing tribal things, you shouldn’t really need it. If your commander is doing a thing, is it really necessary or even that good to spend an entire turn to get it to do the thing twice the following turn?
It's not needed but it's damn good. I own 5 copies and it has always over performed. An Ur Dragon deck doesn't need it but double dragon triggers including the commander? It's insane.
i subscribed because i like hiddengems, interesting cards, and cool ideas. staples, for me, do the opposite. so i feel mixed hearing staple a lot of times.
Ornithopter of Paradise is a less reliable Birds of Paradise for reasons other than board wipes. To start, it is an artifact, which there is an excessive abundance of removal options for. Then, it's a 2 cost dork which means open rock or turn 2 dork, and dork on turn 2 will never be a dork on turn 1. Next, being a thoptor makes it harder to have synchronicity with most non generic support. That being said, is it still worth playing? Duh. Mana Rocks still exist, and so does Lotus Petal. There's also plenty of ways to token clone the thing, and it can use itself as the required cost to participate in making that happen... and it also still has flying which any dork with something extra, that is uni-color mana fixing, is fantastic even at 2 cost. I play it WITH my Birds of Paradise and I even use Alloy Myr, and it costs 3 and has no additional effects. My 5 color deck uses all 3 of them and they're all fantastic with the rocks, lotus petal, Dark Ritual, Pyretic Ritual etc. I don't think that Thopter or Alloy belong in just any deck though. It needs to have a high mana curve at earlier turns to make the most use of it.
Farewell and Sol Ring are the only two cards that I think should be banned for the good of the format. I'm still running Sol ring in all of my decks, but I will never run Farewell, even though I know it's a good card.
Worst list i have watched.. its all opinionated and skips actual good cards that have sculpted the format in the past 4 years. Mirkwood Bats over bowmasters or warren soultrader? No one ring? No delighted halfling? What about Dionus? Ringsight is way better as a tutor for the format..Most of the cards you listed are going to be in the bulk bin in a year or two.. I should have stopped after your comments about yavimaya.. but no.. i thugged it out and laughed through it. You really shouldn’t make content about good cards in the format.. maybe switch to Pokemon or something.. new players beware.. this dude has terrible advice

I always thought liquimetal torque was a reprint from mirrodin or something. Who knew? You did! Great video!!!
Archmage of runes is my best card from the year. I love that card so much
Not including Open the Way is a massive oversight

I feel like the spell Lórien Revealed from LoTR set should have been mentioned under blue.
I’m surprised that the Trioms aren’t actually cycled more often.
They’re 3 to cycle, so you’re only going to use that when it’s a dead draw late in the game or you have nothing else to do that turn.
I think tabt the new ghalta should have been mentioned in the green category the card is such a powerhouse.
My picks:
Land: field of the dead
Artifact/colorless:rise of the eldrazi
White: clever concealment
Blue: fierce guardianship
Black: insatiable avarice
Green: the great henge
Red: deflecting swat
