I'm surprised how many people didn't like Francesca’s book. It was one of my favorite. I am a sucker for unrequired love story and it was more passionate than the others in my opinion.
On The Way To the Wedding was my favorite but I was so shocked when I saw that not many people liked that book. He didn't have as many steamy scenes as the others but it was still a great book. And it honestly makes sense the Gregory is the romantic one in the family. He saw everyone else fall in love. It shouldn't surprise anyone.
I really hope they cover Anthony and Kate in s2! I really didn’t enjoy the focus much on Siena when I watched the show so I really want Kate to come in and Anthony to meet his match!
OH MY GOD I FEEL THE SAME!! I totally love Kate's character and her dynamic with Anthony. I feels really frustated with Anthony relationship with Siena becaue it feel like him cheatin on Kate but really who can blame him for "cheats on" some he didnt met. But for the series itself, it builds up on Anthony disdain for love more, so his intention to look for a suitor that didnt seek love in their relationship has more fondation. I AM JUST HOPING KATE WILL SHOW UP IN SEASON 2 (if theres going to be one * finger crossed *)
I'm convinced that will happen in series two because the last shot of the series was of a bee which felt like a hint for Anthony and Kate and also he said he wanted to find a wife he didn't love which seemed like it was setting up for book 2
Actually, the series seems to have a bunch of extra stuff that wasn't in the books. Which is so rare for a TV adaptation, as usually books are more detailed. That's one of the reasons I haven't seen the series. The second being that in books you know what going through the characters minds, so you know exactly what's happening. Which is probably why that problematic scene in the Duke & I doesn't seem to be too off putting (just enough for me to go, "God woman, can you not be an idiot!" And not ,"you disgust me as person.") And then his side of what happened is also clearly explained in the novel, which I don't know is there in the series. Not to mention that little subtle stuff like Anthony's struggle to finish the tea so that he can proceed to enjoy some "alone time" with Kate. I mean... that'd be impossible without a constant internal monologue.
When He was Wicked is my favorite. I really identified with Francesca. She is independent and self reliant and rarely tells others how she feels unless she can’t contain it anymore. Michael is a perfect match for her because he gets her outside of her own head. Yes, it is a very sensual book, but I don’t think they even included her in the series. I will take a look again.
So glad you loved “To Sir Phillip, With Love”! It often gets a bad rap, but it is definitely my favourite too. The hero is flawed and the way Eloise brings the family together is just beautiful. A great video, well done! I agree with your ratings and so often I don’t when BookTubers review all the Bridgerton books. Have you read “Happily Ever After”……the collection of second epilogues? That is just a joy from beginning to end.
Thanks, Lacey. Such a thorough review. I loved the 3rd book. I love how the author gives different perspectives and angles for each character. Such a rare skill for an author. Happy reading
My love for the Bridgerton series is so nostalgic because I read them so long ago! They were some of the first historical romances I read, and I loved (and still do love) the family aspect of this series. The Bridgerton clan are just wonderful and, even though they don't always make the most prudent choices at times, I adore them. My favorite is still Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, mostly because I love Colin a whole lot
My favorite was The Viscount Who Loved Me! The whole Pall Mall scene had me laughing so hard!!! "The Mallet of Death!" The character I would want to be is Lady Danbury!

The series showed way more about the other characters than the book, so I belief that it will be the same in the next seasons. The book only included other people when they were important for the specific love story.
I have read the books ages ago so when they made this into a series, I was like.. "I think I need to read the books again". There are also quite a few historical novels or series from great authors that are actually worth reading. Hmm... I will check my collection of books tomorrow and read those novels again. Lol.
I think I read these books about 6 or 7 years ago and could not remember anything beyond it was a huge family and I think a girl had no idea how babies were made hahaha. Now that I saw your review I am starting to remember but I think I stopped reading after 6 as nothing of what you said of the last two rang any bells. I liked this series fine but cannot say I fell in love with the characters. I'm glad its being made into a series as I always felt historical romance series would make good tv shows. I mean Downton abbey but with sex sign me up. I hope other series also get the same treatment if this one is succesfull ehem Malory saga ehem
I was really uncomfortable reading the controversial scene in the Duke and I but I thought it really built Daphne's character and gave her some flavor bc I found her pretty bland overall
So when we see Daphne having a baby at the end is that the baby conceived when he was drunk? Or is that when she wants to know where babies come from scene.
The only book that reads like a real book is 'To Sir Phillip, with Love'; a real hero with a real past and real concerns. I read them all except the one about Colin which didn't seem interesting at all - really, Penelope? Gregory was childish all through his book.
I just read "the duck and i" and "romancing mr bridgerton"... those are definitely not well-written books. The romance is just not believable. The characters talk and talk and talk and then we are informed that they love each other! The show is so much better.
The one that's basically just Cinderella is pretty lame. Here's hoping they toss that storyline out. Have Benedict fall in love with someone of the low class, sure.
I'm not sure, i feel like romancing Mr. Bridgerton was problematic, if i remember it, Penelope was always written as 'fat' in the first few books and then when she loses all this weight that's when Colin notices her... and oh boy, I absolutely hated To Sir Phillip with Love, haha it's what made me stop reading the series... Oh well maybe I'll pick them up again, but I just think the Bridgerton's are not for me
dissapointed with the show...but then again it usually happens if you read the books first...couldn't even finish the first episode...idk...maybe u might try when theres nothing else to watch...
I'm hoping the TV show replaces anthony's love interest with Sienna in the next season. I want to see a non conventional girl get a happy ending. Not just the spoiled rich girls
Did we read the same books! They had to be among the worst books I have ever had the misfortune to read! The dialogue was atrocious, boring, and extremely repetitive. Not to mention everyone just seem to speak in quips which is really stupid. The characters were uninteresting and had no personality or development put into them. There was no description anything so every scene was flat and boring. Pacing is so slow it is mine boggling how hard it is to get through under 300 pages. Then there is the fact that the author seems to have absolutely no understanding in the slightest about the time period she is writing in. I could go on but my comment is already long enough. I could see how you could forget you’ve read certain books because there’s nothing in them; they are horrible! The show is equally as bad.

When it comes to historical I always hate when publishers get rid or don’t have stepbacks and I will it was easier to know when they had them 😭
I know 😭 Thats why if I’m buying a used historical I always try to ask for pics!
AGREED
Do we still get our Simon and Daphne love story throughout all the books tho?😂❤️
Nah, you get a story of each Bridgerton for every book although they appear here and there. :)
The series showed way more about the other characters than the book, so I belief that it will be the same in the next seasons.
The book only included other people when they were important for the specific love story.
Guys you need to watch Emma 2020!!! So superior to Bridgerton! It also has the sugary, colorful costuming but it’s more historical accurate.
Also do the reprints have that picture in the book? I am only asking because I don’t need to have the picture the books.
Nope, reprints don’t have stepbacks
@@LaceyBooklovers Awesome! Thanks!
Hii! The tv show is only about the first book? Loved the video ☺️
Yes it’s only about the duke & I so far!
Hiya! What are the order of the books and where did you buy them? Thanks xx
Reading order is in my description 😊 I included the amazon links too but I bought my original copies from eBay
@@LaceyBooklovers thank uuu
So please tell me who inherits the house. Also is the boxer couple ok😅
Neither of those were in the books! So I have to wait to find out with you 😭
I was actually tempted to buy the cover tie in one but I said no.
It’s one of the few tie ins that actually look so pretty 🥺
@@LaceyBooklovers the fifty shades ones were nice
Lovely analysis
Wish i could buy all of julia quinn's book i just love her novels
BN or Amazon
They are still available on Amazon. I have all of her books as she is my favorite romance novelist.💝
@@penneyburgess5431 but on amazon it's the kindle edition
book 2 and 4 are my favourites by far not a huge fan of book 1 and 3 they are on the bottom of my list
Hello how are you? I’m thinking of buying the whole series, is it worth it?
I have read the books ages ago so when they made this into a series, I was like.. "I think I need to read the books again". There are also quite a few historical novels or series from great authors that are actually worth reading. Hmm... I will check my collection of books tomorrow and read those novels again. Lol.
Who liked the series more than the book?
Great video you finished these sooo quick
Is the netflix tie-in book exactly the same with the original?
Yes! Only the cover is different
Great video!!! My favorite was when he was wicked:)
Thank you! 💗
You should have the ebook version as the duke & I has 3 epilogues
I think I read these books about 6 or 7 years ago and could not remember anything beyond it was a huge family and I think a girl had no idea how babies were made hahaha. Now that I saw your review I am starting to remember but I think I stopped reading after 6 as nothing of what you said of the last two rang any bells. I liked this series fine but cannot say I fell in love with the characters. I'm glad its being made into a series as I always felt historical romance series would make good tv shows. I mean Downton abbey but with sex sign me up. I hope other series also get the same treatment if this one is succesfull ehem Malory saga ehem
I find it better with rereads!
I was really uncomfortable reading the controversial scene in the Duke and I but I thought it really built Daphne's character and gave her some flavor bc I found her pretty bland overall
What a great video!
Thank you!
LACEY!!!
Why are these books so small? ( I have the greek versions)
They’re the mass market paperback size
Do you know which books are covered in the first season on Netflix?
The first book, the duck and I
Where did you buy it? :)
The originals? eBay and a few were from friends ☺️
@@LaceyBooklovers thanks for the reply! ❤️
So when we see Daphne having a baby at the end is that the baby conceived when he was drunk? Or is that when she wants to know where babies come from scene.
Nope, she doesn’t get pregnant from those scenes. I think it’s in the epilogue so it probably happened off page/screen
Conceived by RAPE, because that was RAPE.
The only book that reads like a real book is 'To Sir Phillip, with Love'; a real hero with a real past and real concerns. I read them all except the one about Colin which didn't seem interesting at all - really, Penelope? Gregory was childish all through his book.
The preparation we all don't need because the Netflix show wasn't even close. Lol
seriously !! lol
i finished the series and was greedy for more that I started the books and the first book alone is incredibly different
@@dirthousegirl HAHAHA are you going to watch S2, then?
@@StAu8390 I do think I'll watch it
just to see how it differs from the books!
@@dirthousegirl the actor's actually good. I hope they'll redeem his role in movie. Anthony's book is way better than Daphne (for me).
In my opinion, The Cynster Series is more deserving to be in Netflix than the Bridgerton.
I just read "the duck and i" and "romancing mr bridgerton"... those are definitely not well-written books. The romance is just not believable. The characters talk and talk and talk and then we are informed that they love each other! The show is so much better.
Is it appropriate for a 14 year old to read?
💖
The one that's basically just Cinderella is pretty lame. Here's hoping they toss that storyline out.
Have Benedict fall in love with someone of the low class, sure.
Gosh i love your nails
I love this series
I’m flying through the books and I’m finding most of them mediocre
What does a "bastard of an earl" mean? haha I tried googling it and can't seem to find a straight answer! Thanks in advance :)
Sophie is the bastard daughter of her father, the Earl, who had her out of wedlock. Her mom isn't the Earl's wife. Hope that helps!
@@LaceyBooklovers Thank you!!!
love the book. Hate the series
Oh well maybe I'll pick them up again, but I just think the Bridgerton's are not for me
The series was underwhelming for me as well...
dissapointed with the show...but then again it usually happens if you read the books first...couldn't even finish the first episode...idk...maybe u might try when theres nothing else to watch...
Hello can you donate some of your books to me please. I absolutely love your bookshelf. I am addicted to romance novels.
Have you noticed that the Asian actors on the Netflix show don’t have any lines? I think it reinforces the stereotype that Asians are quiet...
Wait the show had Asian actors!! I don’t know how I didn’t notice that
@@BlueDaisy33 Yes, beautiful!
I'm hoping the TV show replaces anthony's love interest with Sienna in the next season. I want to see a non conventional girl get a happy ending. Not just the spoiled rich girls
A good book and a bad film
