I got an AR5 from a Colorado and adapt it to fit small block chevy or big block chevy. Can this transmission actually take abuse? Can it take more abuse than a Muncie M-21 or even M-22? The verdict is out yet, but I have a potential home for this already and am very excited to see if it can take a performance 355 in a light-ish car.

@@DeathTollRacing I know that all to well, I bought my f100 thinking it needed a cam, here I am at year 4 still stuck on the navi 5.4 manual swap and crown vic ifs.

@@DeathTollRacingI got mine in a 55 Chevy with a 406 in front. Cruiser and no issues. Use redline my90, it’ll shot smoother.

Came across this video looking for AR5 information for a BBC / Chevelle swap - Good info, thank you for the dimensions! Would you mind sharing the overall dimnension from mounting face of bellhousing, to either end of the tailshaft case / seal, or to center of u-joint on yoke? If you have ran this since your video was posted, how do you like it?
The dimension you are asking for is the first dimension I give in the video. I believe it's 32 1/2 but you can double check the video if it's critical. I haven't ran it yet, so no word on that part yet. It's going in a very light car, so I have high expectations for it lasting.
Don't know if you caught it by now but you definitely should have been able to swap the bleeder to the top. I imagine its gonna be really hard to bleed it the way it is. What did you use to clean that transmission? That thing looks new.
Lol. Yeah, I caught that while I was editing, but figured it’d be something for people to catch. In the moment it felt wrong, but in reality there’s no difference which line you use and which is the bleeder.
Cleaning is super clean, pressure wash off immediately, repeat as necessary. (It will make the aluminum dark colored if it sits too long or if it’s hot). Then I use an aluminum brightener. Let sit and pressure wash off. (Don’t let it dry) My favorite one is in my Amazon store Amazon.com/shop/deathtollracing
Turn the throw out bearing and the lines run right out the side and then the bleeder is in the top I've done this conversion myself
Hey mate, could you give me the measurement from the throwout bearing to the end of the input shaft please?
I want to use this same kit, although my Ar5 in Australia the throwout bearing is different to yours.
measured with a tape measure 150mm retracted 80mm extended.

Is there a way to use the mechanical speed cable for the AR5 i got an 87 monte carlo ss with one and i am planning to swap an ar5 in it
I don’t think so, but there’s still a way to do it. I linked a video below of a cable driver from Dakota digital I installed on another project that would work for your scenario as well.
