@Tumble _ Meme idk I think if the rest of Europe ever star taking space as seriously as the UK wants to we would get more involved with them but as long as ESA is taking a laid back “support america aproach” rather than a “let’s propel europe to space” aproach the UK will keep its distance
A few weeks ago at the FAST museum at farnborough, i saw the first stage from the first (and only) successful orbital launch of black arrow, it was recovered from the australian desert in quite good condition. The nozzles are crushed a little but the turbo pumps are still in perfect shape!

IRL the DH108 was a deathtrap with all 3 of them being lost in fatal crashes while the third De Haviland was Peter and their Cousin Olivier was a multiple Oscar-winning actress who died in 2020 at the age of 104 and is probably most famous for her role in Gone With the Wind
Oooh I didn't know that about the cousin! But yeah the DH108 was really quite dangerous, I read up about two crashes, but didn't know there was a third!
This is an excellent addition to "for all kerbalkind". I can recommend you to read "The Ministry of Space" comic if you want to see a UK space program in an alternate history.
Very nice. Really wish some mods gave the British HTP engines some love - being able to specify which combustion chambers and how many would really open up the options for a whole family of rockets in that style and design ancestry. If only I were remotely capable of engine modding myself, lol.
That absolutely is an EE Lightning with a Gamma 4 rocket on its wing :P I've been playing around with making the Lightning an X-Plane and this was one method of doing that haha

will you be using the future rocket sites of the EU later down the line? such as Esrange in Sweden or the Guiana space center? both were built in the late sixties.

I wonder if Europe is going to go to the moon and if it we’re going to full For All Mankind territory maybe ESA and NASA should cooperate if a lunar base ever happens
I definitely do want to pay the Moon some attention, but for the most part I think I'll leave the Soviets and the US fight over it and maybe focus on more interplanetary missions, not completely decided the direction I'll go in yet, will see further down the line!
It's going to take a while to get to properly competing - lots, lots and lots of catchup to do. I'm wondering whether you'll stick early on with ESA's historical focus on uncrewed, scientific missions and Ariane's commercial mission capabilities (not sure how viable that will be to try and get into the Mars race). I will also admit to hoping we'll get to hear you voicing the traditional "A tous de DDO, attention pour le décompte final" when you first launch from Kourou ;) Bonne chance !
It will yeah, the boost will help a lot, but its still going to take some time, I think I will be focusing more on uncrewed missions, definitely more interested in uncrewed interplanetary exploration than sending crew to the Moon I think, but I'll have to see if my budgets allow that :P And you really wouldn't want to hear my french voice, in that I don't have one at all, but I do have a native French speaker who has said they'd be happy to do it for me!

I'll still be launching from Woomera for a while yet, but I am going to build up Kourou too, with the hopes of launching Ariane I from there (or Europa III if I go down that naming convention) Europa first launches will come from Woomera though, as that's where most of them were launched irl, except for the last one iirc!
hmmm, looks like the first place I checked was a little bit iffy, by the looks of things they all were? except the first was still deemed successful because reasons. Afaik now though, there was definitely no full success of Europa, which is why Ariane then went ahead. I'll have to actually look into it a bit more :P
I absolutely love the idea of the ESA competing with NASA and the CCCP, shame that Europe was mainly sidelined in the real world.

Every rocket you launched had a K in it. The plane was the only thing without a K. The British space agency had good names for their rockets

Absolutely! Its going to actually end up being my main launch site, just need to get some funds to get it rolling :)
Additionally De Havilland made Firestreak and Red Top missiles, used on various aircraft including the Lightning and Sea Vixen.

How long does it take you to load the game? With my slow 8gb ram and 80+ mods (~50,000 patches) it takes 20-30min to load
hmmm around 8-15 minutes, I'm not entirely sure an exact time but its not terrible, but not the best either!
