I actually used to make these kinds of videos when I was kid, back around 2015-2017. I was a part of this subculture community where people (mostly children) would take tv/movie logos and childhood shows and put over video and audio effects, that was basically the only thing people would do and yet many of these videos would surpass up to millions of views, I even had a few videos of my own that reached that milestone. I started making those logo edit videos because I was autistic and I like having weird interests and logos were something that really intrigued me for awhile and so that's what got me to making them. I don't have the videos online anymore cuz they were on a different channel and I've basically moved on to other things after being done with making those kinds of videos but I remembered actually having some fun just playing around with effects and seeing how they would look on a certain logo. There really wasn't any weird malicious secret intent with this genre of videos, these were just videos that children including I made just because it was fun and I guess cuz they can garner so many views.
About the whole origin of this genre is beyond my knowledge but I do have a few leads I could possibly give. One thing I do know is that a good majority of the community was influenced by this youtuber Kyoobur9000, who started making logo editing videos since 2010. He wasn't one of the original logo editors but he did pave the way for basically everyone else who made logo edit videos after him. There was also the whole "in G-Major" meme that went around starting in 2007 as well as the cult following of "scary logos" such as Klasky Csupo, Screen Gems, VID, and Viacom.
I don't know if looking more into it would be worth your time to begin with since it's mostly just little children making logo edit videos simply for entertainment and views but I'd thought I would share my own experience and insight about the community I was once in.

I found G major vids when I was a child about 10 years ago (2010ish). Specifically it was a G major of the PPG theme song, and it jumpscared me bcoz it was so loud, I ran from my computer and cried. My parents got angry at me for using the computer too often lol

as a person with autism, this really doesn't seem that weird to me. many autistic people tend to hyperfixate and even have a special interest revolving around weird, obscure stuff like this. for example, i had a fixation on VHS data deterioration and lost media, cause i think they're both really cool but weird topics. i think these people have a hyperfixation or special interest, and that's cool! i understand how this could look weird to someone who isn't familiar with it though, as some of the comments even creeped me out a little.

Personal input: this is most definitely specifically for autists/aspies who's special interests are video and sound fx along with perhaps those who enjoy things that fit in the y2k aesthetic. As an Aspergian (as I've seen some others say), honestly I believe this is the best explanation. Whenever my friends make art in programs I like or use I often point out the brushes I notice them use, or the filters. I also like to memorize what certain audio filters/editors do since I make music, so sometimes I'll point out the resonance, reverb, echo, delay, ect. that I can recognize when used in sounds or songs. It's like a specialized puzzle game, in a way.
200% this. I used to like trying to figure out Fonts people used, but there are way too many that are super similar now. Even using an app like WhatTheFont will show 30 possible type faces but none of them are correct because the font will be from a different library... Impossible now

I need a better phone than my current ones, mine are doing really weird things. I have a Galaxy Note 8 for photo and video editing and stuff but my main phone having issues that keeps me from communicating with my doctors is a Galaxy S9, and its doing things like automatically blocking calls so that I just get an alert of a voice-mail, and the automatically blocked call that I didn't even know came in is labeled as Spam, but the voice-mail left if from one of my doctors or someone else very important that I have been waiting on a call from. I can't answer it because the stupid phone blocks it 😅
So the government in my state said I qualify for a government phone... but they sent me an *LG Journey* 🤯
That doesn't even have USB-C!!! No wireless charging, no built-in QR scanner or dark mode, no fingerprint scanner.
Apparently the LG Journey is lower-spec than the Galaxy S5.... I said I needed something better than my S9 🤣
That fingerprint scanner is really important for me, too. All of my passwords are things like 3!8^Cvki!*58i&D%B&4y^L@sS6 (randomly generated new password not attached to anything, this is just an example) so I rely on a password manager and the fingerprint tech. No wireless charging means it cannot charge like almost every other device I own, including my portable chargers. No built-in QR scanner means the healthcare apps I am wanting to use this for aren't accessible unless I download something separately, as healthcare apps now utilize QR codes for signing up and linking accounts... and this phone has very little space. No built-in dark mode means eye pain for my stupidly sensitive eyes, and since its a *government phone* I'm locked out of developer options, unable to force it into a dark mode.
Also, it only seems to hold battery for about 3 hours... when your travel time to and from an appointment PLUS the appointment time is more than 3 hours and you can't charge the phone with your portable WIRELESS charger, and it doesn't even have USB-C so the charge time is APPALLING, its like.... this is useless. The Live Transcribe app drains battery, this phone is nowhere near good enough for the accessibility I need.
Anyway, massive tangent because of the mention of phones and differences between them, I'm frustrated about the situation and keep ruminating haha

You're autism theory makes sense! You'll find this sort of thing for MANY brands. I used to teach kids with autism and if I gave one of my students a tablet to watch youtube, he would end up in this part of TH-cam eventually. He loved the familiar brand jingles being edited in different ways.
I'm autistic and I can see how the Samsung logo animation would appeal to autistic kids, physics simulations like it are similar to sensory toys enjoyed by the autistic community [water wiggles, slime, etc]. That could also explain the repetition of the same logo animation, watching/doing the same thing over and over again is a common autistic behavior. I doubt this explains the multiple channels making Samsung logo edits though, and it doesn't explain the comments listing effects whatsoever [i would guess that the more nonsensical comments are just kids mashing random keys/using predictive text].
Tbh I think a lot of the videos are just kids fucking around in video editing software for some of the same reasons you noted above. This is like the 3rd comment I've made mentioning this but I'd see this kind of stuff a lot on Scratch, and that website is almost exclusively made up of kids (as its meant for children).
i agree with this, i personally have replayed the logo a bunch of times and i think it's really cool to look at. i find a lot of 3d rendered stuff like that super calming to look at as an autistic person myself.

@@trip1994 Thank you. I am also diagnosed, however I only got my diagnosis three years and I had to a lot of research myself to even bring up the possibility that I was autistic. I think self-diagnosis would be a lot less prevalent if diagnoses were more accessible [sorry for the infodump, just thought it might be important to add]
I’m autistic too and I remember being in that logo editing community too. If you check my older videos you will see that I was interested into those logo edits until 2019 when it became boring for me. I’m still in the logo community but not the logo edit side of it. I’m more into the top 10s, logo histories and evolutions, etc… Honestly you explained autism very well, Even I had this repetition behavior. I remember when I watched the Lion King (the first one), I loved the intro of the movie so much that I wanted to hear it over and over and over again. It was probably torture for my parents but for me it was great.
I think you should name it "yes seriously" because that sounds like a proper reaction to this.

As someone with high functioning autism, I’d like to preface that the symptoms of autism effect people so differently it’s hard to find something the universally works for everyone.
Speaking from my own experience however, as a child repetitive visuals and sounds with little change put me in a calming trance almost. It’s entirely possible that could be the case for the high view count of these videos (as kids would just watch the same video over and over for possible hours). Even now I find the smooth bouncing animation calming as an adult. What doesn’t make sense is the multiple videos with only slight changes. If the bouncing balls effected high functioning kids so well, I’d expect just the same video to be posted over and over with no changes. (Unless it’s only edited to avoid TH-cam’s algorithm)
I am by no means a professional expert on autism, but I’m willing to debt the autism angle is a part of whatever this is. Ether as it originally being for that reason or that it was a trend that people uploaded onto TH-cam kids for the large views autistic kids gave these videos.
Consider that many on the spectrum don't just enjoy watching but interacting as well, creating. Seems to me that a lot of the many variations is pretty easily explained by the spectrum creatives contributing to a community they enjoy.

Mind that TH-cam is basically just cloud storage for video files, so there doesn't need to be a good reason to upload your video effects practice onto the site. The whole ideas of establishing a TH-cam identity, making an appealing video, and even having a reason to upload are completely emergent phenomena that aren't integral to TH-cam the same way keeping video files here is. Many things on TH-cam just exist, especially the early stuff.
Plus, I'm not sure about you, but I don't really have a good reason to be skeptical of the Asperger's explanation.

For all we know, the vast overwhelming majority of these videos are unlisted posts, but we just aren't able to see them.

i myself am autistic, although not asperger's, ive seen and talked to a lotta folks with asperger's and i think this is definetly a group of folks who have a very large hyperfixation on these very specific things. reminds me of how ululilia would speed up and slow down video game music because it felt like new songs for him.
Asperger's here, and while you ARE right about people with aspergers getting hyperfixated on stuff, I don't think there's any correlation between samsung balls and aspergers, it just so happens one specific samsung balls channel had them in mind when making the videos
Edit: i saw a comment by the username "zojo" who claims to have been part of one of these niche communities around making weird edits of logos, I think their comment is a pretty good explanation for samsung balls. Autism seems to be a common trend with these even if not necessarily related
I'm autistic and I have a fixation on knives especially. Sometimes I will watch 20-30 knife videos on TH-cam everv day, most of them just product videos from the companies selling said knives. All the videos are the exact same 30-40 second format (knife is opened, showing how the opening mechanism works) The slight differences in color, finish, sound, blade shape, all make each one interesting, even if they might seem completely stupid to any normal person.

My 5 year old nephew who's autistic has been watching these kinds of videos since he was a toddler (usually Cocomelon, pinkfong, teen titans etc) I think the repition is comforting but the different effects keeps it fascinating or stimulating? Sometimes he's laughing at it, but usually it basically sends him into a trance. I hope this was helpful
im autistic and i can see how it can be stimulating, just like people on tumblr upload stim gifs, but i also think it might just be kids who have a fandom(??) of just guessing effects. kids have weird interests, and looping back around to autism (/aspergers but i hate that term :///) it might be a special interest/hyperfixation! i know i tend to get latched onto "weird" things, and seeing as the videos have a lot of movement, sound, and color i can imagine its interesting to some!

I do indeed have Asperger’s, was diagnosed at the age of 8 & I turn 30 this month so I’ve known for the majority of my life. Does this stimulate me? No. Could it stimulate others? Absolutely. We tend to get special interests & in our interests, we OBSESS to the point where it can almost get unhealthy. For me as a young teen, I couldn’t get enough Danny Phantom so I’d turn to fanfictions & stuff to try & please that part of the brain. It’s probably the same way for those that NEED more Samsung balls, the edits might do the trick for them.

Key word "NEED"! My son is into sirens, the mass warning type heard for miles. We try and craft small scale models from scratch etc, and look out for them when travelling. I'm sure the neighbors hate us at times lol, but it's his world too man. Idk why but they just hit his sweet spot, big relief after stress from school days. He's smarter than two of me and it's a beautiful thing. 💖

I'd see stuff like this a lot on Scratch back when I was 9 and still used the website, and I guarantee these are made by a bunch of (possibly autistic) kids with highly specific interests based on the repetitive nature of these videos. I'm autistic, and when I was younger I'd always watch Windows startup/shutdown videos and I'm certain if I knew how to use video editing software and wasn't so scared to lie about my age, I probably would have also made these kinds of videos. I wouldn't find it too absurd for a bunch of kids to be doing just that.

My brother is autistic and likes to make these kinds of videos for himself to watch thousands of times over and over again, so it's certainly a possibility.
I find it hard to relate to having such a hyper fixation on things, as a kid I would hyper focus on things but they were always quite general, I really liked biology, I liked languages I like music like they were all general and I was able to manage them and turn them into normal interests as I got older, but I feel like I'm a weird odd one out here because I often see autistic people get attached to really specific things

*"Logo Effects" is the main name for these videos. It's composed of simple pitch changes, color changes and the addition of effect plugins applied to TV / Video Game logos (especially PBS Kids' "Dash" / "Dot" and Klasky Csupo's "Splaat"). For some reason, this specific Samsung logo is the one getting abused by Logo Kids (yes, the majority of people that made these videos are children).
*These videos are somehow able to rack you up to a MILLION views. I once tried it and got 200K.
*Many people that make these videos tend to have Battle for Dream Island as their favorite show. BFDI OCs can most commonly be seen on their PFPs.
*Do you know the Go!Animate / Vyond community? Chances are that they're connected to that community as well, so expect logo editors to make grounded videos off their most hated character from a show for children.
*The comment section is mostly filled with this:
"Request: [Logo] effects"
"Taken from [insert show / movie that doesnt even exist]" / "Taken from [insert show / movie that the logo doesnt even appear in]"
*They also have ties with the Sparta remix and Shuric Scan communities, with some people naming themselves as "SampleTextTehSpartan".

I think the majority of people who do that probably have autisms and/or aspengers.
As a person with autism, i still remember when i was a kid i was watching these weird logo edit videos, being a big BFDI (and probably OSC) fan, watching Go!Animate grounded videos, watching Sparta Remix videos, and even video mashups!
I know those type of things is kinda feels weird to you, but atleast people and even myself actually did those things just to make me and them happy.

Ya know? There’s one video I remember from my childhood that I’ve tried really hard to find but just can’t. It was a pretty run of the mill jumpscare video, that while scared me then, is something I’d probably find cheap and basic now. I remember the video was tinted green the entire time, it wasn’t night vision or anything it was clearly just tinted green. It took place outside of this old decrepit house. There was a man who was sitting on a chair drinking a water bottle. The video would randomly cut to this girl, reminiscent to the one from the ring, crawling around on all fours nearby. The video was filmed in a way that made every movement look jagged and sped up. Eventually the girl would start crawling around the same area the man was in, he was completely oblivious of her presence. Eventually the man just disappeared, the water bottle just sat there, on its own, outside the house. Then the girl, fast jagged movements and all, crawled across the screen, then it cut to a close up shot of her disgusting face with a loud screaming sound. The video ended with that jumpscare. Like I said not very scary at all to anyone above the age of 10. But I just remember me and my sister finding that video back when we used to just sit at the computer and watch whatever TH-cam videos came to us.
It really speaks to my maturity how much I laughed throughout the duration of this video.

My son is autistic and went through a phase that lasted about 1-2 years where he was obsessed with logos, especially LG. Lots and lots and lots of these videos were watched during that phase. It's definitely a stimulation thing. He loved them to death, and has moved on to more NT content since. He was very young, around 4-5 when he was watching these.

But instead of the Samsung Logo Balls, mine usually consisted of PBS kids bumpers, or those strange previews from those Care Bears Movie dvds I used to own (which actually scared me growing up, but gave me some kind of strange nostalgia later on).

Hey! I don’t have asbergers syndrome, but I am on the autistic spectrum!! The videos are actually quite stimulating and relaxing, however the audio shown is… quite the opposite, so I wouldn’t recommend them specifically if they all had audio like that? But visually, it’s good!!
In my personal opinion, if you’re looking for something in that kind of vein(?), you’re better looking for animation testing videos!! There’s some super good ones of people trying out liquid physics in different programs (I’m sure most people are aware of the blender one heh) either that or, now don’t come at me for this, slime videos!! Personally, they’re really relaxing and the looks Abs sounds of it are very stimulated for the brain ehehe
But yeah, every autistic person is different, no one’s disabilities are the same!! This is just my own personal opinion

I've been aware of this bizarre logo edit subculture for a years now, but I didn't realize there were so many edits of modern things. A bunch are edits of logos nostalgic to 90s/00s kids, probably rooted in the whole "logos" scaring kids thing. It seems to be a hyper-fixation thing (autism) and similar commenting behavior is found in old archives of the weather channel or [as] bumpers. Hyper-fixation, and the subsequent editing, of super specific, but fairly banal, nostalgia is legitimately pretty interesting, like a autistic reflection of the same things that birthed vaporware and other hauntology. Glad someone finally made a video about this, its always been a curiosity to me.
I participated in this and it’s literally exactly what you’re describing. It’s a group of people making these because they are visually pleasing, and guessing the effects used. I specifically was fascinated with the klasky csupo logo.

I was thinking of something like "This Might be Interesting" or TMI for short, because I love word play and TMI also stands for Too Much Information which fits the theme of these kinds of videos. Something that's just, there. Excessive information on topics that aren't really dire or anything.

I'm so glad you covered this. I've seen the exact same thing happen before. I stumbled down a similar rabbit hole when I was looking for the original Klasky Csupo logo. I immediately discovered tons of edits of the logo and thousands of bizarre comments beneath them. And the rabbit hole only got deeper and deeper, especially with old Nickelodeon logos. The edits I found came from a variety of channels that all hosted similar content. Alongside the edits, they tended to have similar sounding names (Andy's Film Corner, Rachel's Movie Closet, LionKingFan2001, ThomasAndFriends1999 - not real channels, just made-up examples). Additionally, they would have tons of community posts about fairly random and occasionally personal things, short videos where the channel owner would display VHS and Blu-Ray copies of different movies and briefly discuss them, and various other vlogs discussing opinions on movies and other TH-cam users. On many of these channels, many of the users explained that they have autism and difficulty socializing which is why they spend so much time making this sort of content. It's what they like to make and talk about and they like to see other people build off of it. It's definitely niche, but maybe I can shed some light on it. As someone with autism, I genuinely get the appeal of these videos, as strange as it sounds. In my experience with autism, what tends to keep me the most calm is repetition, even if this means watching the same clip over and over. Another thing I find myself drawn to is noting and categorizing specific information. For instance, I might watch a video and think in much more concise terms, "The background music in this video is from this artist on this album released in this year," or "The movie that person is talking about starred this actor, was released in this year, and was produced by these people." I don't usually comment this info, but I think that's what some of the commenters mentioned in this video do. They recognize different information and editing patterns in what they're seeing and commenting it for other people to see. I can't say why I tend to exhibit this sort of behavior or even if many other people with autism experience it. It's just a series of unexplained fixations, perhaps.
TL;DR - I think these videos might be the product of an extremely niche side of TH-cam where multiple creators are on the autistic spectrum. Based on my experience with autism, I can completely understand why making and watching these videos could be a calming and satisfying way to pass the time and share interests with other people without the stress of direct contact.
Believe it or not I’ve found myself in this wormhole myself. I’m part of the railfan community (people who love trains), and, well, a lot of autistic people like myself really enjoy trains. This thing happens called a hyper fixation where we’ll really be obsessed with one super specific thing for no reason, and that’s why a lot of people like me know so much about trains. But because of the overlap I stumbled across a lot of these channels. Most, if not all of these videos are (I believe) uploaded and watched by autistic children. Usually you’ll see this with intro sequences for TV networks or commercial jingles. For example, there’s a lot in YT of the Klasky Csupo intro text. I think most of these are just autistic kids showing off their hyper fixation.
It is strange too, because a lot of them do have very odd titles that don’t correlate to the videos at all. I personally have always found this subculture fascinating and always hoped someone would do a deep dive into it. Maybe something you could explore more in the future, just a thought. You are one of my favorite you tubers after all :)
(Also don’t come away from this comment with the message that I think you were making fun of autistic people because I know you weren’t, even if that’s where it comes from it still is very odd and even as an autistic person I’m fascinated by it too!)
i’m gonna start this off and say, i am autistic, and one of my special interests is logos. and logo effects are really nothing new or special in that specific community. ive been watching logo videos since about 2012, and ive watched damn near only one of the videos over and over again multiple times almost every week, to the point its almost second nature to watch it (if youre curious, the video is the ultimate nightmare logo collection v3)
A series name for this topic should just be: “why”

Asperger‘s is actually got recognized as a diagnosis anyone, it classified as Autism. And as someone with autism, I don’t personally find it stimulating. But some may, stimming is different for everyone. It also may not be unusual for people with special interest in video editing to want to be able to identify a certain edit by sight.

It makes perfect sense for autistics to enjoy stimming to such videos, or those with special interests in logos, the Samsung balls, video editing to build a community around creating, analyzing and appreciating different variations on those things
These Samsung Logo Balls effect videos are part of a much larger logo editing community, and some of the members are kids who most likely uploaded some of these videos featured.
And about the high view counts but low comment counts, I think a lot of the views come from viewers watching in the TH-cam Kids app (even if the video is marked as not for kids), which doesn’t let you comment on videos.

7:40 I have Autism (which Aspergers falls under) and I can confirm that these videos are stimulating! They're kinda near satisfying, to say the least! Visuals like these help to calm someone down on the spectrum whether intentional or not and something about this ball ad is soothing to look at!

It all started when I first saw edits of the Klasky Csupo and Nickelodeon logos back in 2012, and I kept watching them for some reason. Just throwing this out there as a lot of people aren't aware yet: Most people within the autistic community (including like me who were previously diagnosed with Asperger's) don't like the term "Asperger's Syndrome" anymore. This is because in recent years it has become much more widely known that the Dr. Hans Asperger, who originally categorised the disorder, was largely involved in the Nazi Eugenics program. Most people who would once have been defined with Asperger's prefer to use the umbrella term "ASD" which stands for Autism Spectrum Disorder. The use of ASD also really helps prevent the "othering" that people with high-functioning autism experience within our own community.
I mean no hate with this, I know that not everyone is aware of the preference towards using ASD in place of Asperger's Syndrome, I just wanted to let people know just in case they weren't aware :)

My little brother is Autistic and loves videos like these. It makes him happy and he enjoys watching logos change and have odd sounds behind them or have clips changed from the original. He also just plays around editing them to how he likes. He'll point out his favorite edits too. I've seen a bunch of these by now with him.

im autistic and my little siblings are probably autistic as well and frankly, i completely believe that these are both by *and for* autistic kids who just crank this stuff out because its fun and they like it. autistic kids get weird interests and they like to watch stuff on loop for hours and hours. you guys have seen those videos where its just a single meme or sound effect repeated with different effects, right? like the among us death sound or minecraft noises. this is the same thing as any of that. it seems weird, but that's probably just 'cuz autistic kids are weird with the stuff they upload online sometimes.

Hi! Knower of Autism here. We have it in the family. And our family member watches the most bizarre videos - crushing cans beneath tyres, animated fruit bouncing to really odd music as it is chopped up, and many, many more with "soothing" visuals. It helps them when they are feeling anxious, and they feel anxious all the time, so those videos are on 24/7. It stimulates them, and I can see this video working as a visual stim for a child/adult with complex high functioning autism.
Visual stims such as videos or watching something fall like sand provides an output for stress, anxiety and, in some cases, emotions that collect and grow, like anger or explosive sadness. They also simply enjoy watching these videos! It really is that innocent. The comments could be from low functioning ASS individuals with access to the comment section, finding their interest in the sound and discussing it. Which can spread like wildfire. If they see a comment, they might decide it is a question for themselves, and run off to investigate more videos with this intense interest.

My favorite is the old WGBH neon logo and sound from the 70s/80s. I'm obsessed with it. I've never made a video about it but every once in a while I'll watch different edits of it for 3 hours. It just does something in my brain that's incredibly satisfying.

as someone with autism (the term Asperger's syndrome is long retired and means the same thing) this is not stimulating. stimming is always an action performed by the person. you couldn't stim by say, watching a video.
This sounds a lot like an video editing assignment/lecture that's been constantly re-used and the youtube algorithm decided this is what the kids like to watch these days and started shoving them into autoplays.
Maybe this is just a sub genre of TH-cam poops. I’ve noticed it with a lot of other logos, so it’s definitely possible. As for a series name, I’ll deviate from the norm and say “Obscure Oddities”.

This sounds like the AV equivalent of the programmer’s competitions where the objective is to write the most confusing code, and people have to guess the function by just looking a it. Like they’re taking a very stock visual and doing a bunch of stuff to it, but the base is always the same so it’s easy to compare, and the comments are all guessing the edits and even specific software and plugins. It really feels like it’s just an editing industry inside joke, and I kind of love it.

Oh hey, you found this very specific and niche subset I hardly hear anyone talk about! I’ve always brushed by this through the years, all the way back in 2014, and it’s fascinated me. The people listing the effects in the comments probably are fixated too, and are having fun from figuring it out. It’s kinda like listening to music and knowing the samples, or watching a movie and guessing what effects they used to create a scene.
Like many people have mentioned, these posts really align with fixations that are common in autism. As someone on the spectrum myself, these videos kinda set me in a trance? It kinda feels like when you’re on TikTok or the TH-cam shorts and you end up scrolling for hours without realizing it.
As for the editing, I can only guess that it’s because repetition is calming, and change is stimulating, so the edits create that change. Logos repeat a lot in commercials and at the end of movies, videos, etc., and they have specific animations and sounds in order to create that new stimulation. It makes complete sense to me as an outsider, but I guess it’s cause I understand and feel what these videos are supposed to be; visual stim toys.

When I was studying digital design in college, our teachers would give us some editing tasks just like those and ask us to upload it on youtube for easier access. That is my first bet.
Another plausible answer is that some Samsung video editor came with the Samsung Balls logo for people to try it out and upload on youtube.
After that, seeing a lot of different random Samsung Balls videos, some random people could have started doing their own meme thing with it.

Like most weird things on the internet, the answer tends to be that this is simply a trend of video making popular with children, particularly young editors. I mean, most of the channels have very juvenile themes, and the comments are the same gibberish you'd find under an elsagate channel.

All I could tell you is that I use to be like these people back then and going under a different username. Heck, I still have my logo edits up on my channel and simply put a new thumbnail, and description.
