    My finger numbness happens at random times and I really can't pinpoint what actually triggers it when I'm playing, using an Xbox controller, or just resting my hand on my steering wheel while driving. It's beyond frustrating! I've tried a few exercises before, but yours take a different approach and I'm going to have to give them a shot. I've never experienced pain, just the numbness.

    You know, me being a Dog Groomer and a Bass/Drummer, carpal tunnel is GOING to happen and is currently affecting me. I've been learning songs just by listening to songs, but I only have like 15-20 minutes of playing/practicing before the pain comes in, even shorter if it's an intense song (I.E. Bad Reputation - Joan Jett, Let There Be Rock - ACDC, etc.). I've just agreed to do 2-1 hour gigs so i've been looking at ways to ease the pain and try out exercises. I'mma try out your advice and talk to my Doctor about it as well

    Just discovered your videos, Brandon, and I'm so glad I did. The timing is perfect: I'm practicing and playing more than I have in 20 years. Starting to get some right wrist pain for the first time ever. My question is do you have a video focusing on drum height, specifically the snare?

    Thanks Brandon! I am a hobby drummer and unfortunately on a low with my time I can spend drumming. However. I am an IT professional. I was 'a bit' overworked at the beginning of the year. Long story short, even with 25 years of 'practice', 16 hours per day (including weekends) for 3 months probably negates all that. So I developed pain. In my left (dominant) hand, near the outside of the palm where it's rested against the desk/mousepad/etc.
    The mad rush was over, but the pain kept. I bought a splint, thinking it might help.
    I bet this is _not_ the kind of rest you mean. Indeed, it only got worse. After a few weeks, I did 'the opposite', but gently, the way you suggest. Apart from resting it more 'freely' (not restricted by a splint/bandage/etc), I clutched my fingers of my two hands and moved both my wrists round and around, leading with my right. Always leading with my right, letting the left just roll.
    Being left handed in a right handed world also helped. I moved the mouse to my right and since I was forced to learn using it that way too, it worked alright. The change came in a couple of weeks. Slowly. Very. This needs _a lot_ of patience. The pain is almost nonexistent now, after almost another 3 months.
    But, I can attest to everything you said here.
    All good advices.
    Thanks in the name of all the less fortunate who have experienced this.

    Great channel and great tips. I've already been doing about 60 percent of your tips. Now I'll start the rest. The only one I probably won't do is the medical professionals tip. They either just throw pills at me that don't help or don't even know what I'm talking about. And you can't just call a specialist, you need a referral. That's hard to get when your PCP doesn't think you have a problem.

    Question, are supinator working while drumming?

    • @brandondrummechanics
      @brandondrummechanics  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Of course! Every time we go into wrist flexion, there is a concurrent amount of pronation. Every time we go into wrist extension, there is an amount of supination

    Hi! How many reps with dumbbells you should do in one set? And how many sets to do?

      I wouldn’t worry about the number of Raps and go to an amount of fatigue. I go till you feel some small amount of muscular fatigue and rest. Start there.
