My iPhone 4S survived a drop from a motorcycle at 30 mph without a single scratch or any damage in an old defender. But they’re just too bulky these days. Especially as phones themselves have gotten so much bigger.
I have the clear symmetry and I actually really like it. I was someone who always recommended against otter boxes because I thought they were super overpriced and not that well built. Plus usually too bulky. I originally had the speck presidio clear on my Xs Max but hated the buttons ridiculous resistance. It was way too hard to push the buttons or remove the case. So I returned this and got the symmetry for $5 less and like it so much better. It feels better and the buttons are super clickey. Plus it’s not too hard to remove, and looks great on the iPhone. The only bad thing is I’ve seen older used versions of this case on 8 pluses and the sides are extremely yellowed. Almost brown. So I hope otterbox has fixed it.
I have seen old clear symmetry cases and they have turned brown and I don’t think I have ever seen a most disgusting case so I hope your does not turn this way🤞
I returned my clear Symmetry after 9 days. I know a lot of people like them, but I'm not a fan. Pros: 1. Fantastic clicky wonderful buttons 2. Shows off the color and design very well 3. Not too bulky. However, my personal cons of the case are what made me take it back: 1. Claims to be scratch resistant, yet somehow had very visible seemingly deep scratches after 9 days, zero drops, zero instances of putting it in my pocket with my keys, and fairly careful usage (got it the day I got my XS) 2. Something is off about the fit. Through some part of the case, be it the sides, the camera hole, or whatever else, pet hair, debris, and water when I took it out in the rain, loved to get through. Super annoying. Constantly had to take it off to clean it out unless I, for some reason, loved looking at random specks on the back of my phone. This leads me to point 3. 3. MASSIVE pain to take off. I'm not the strongest and at first I thought it was just me, but not even the well-built adult male employee who showed me the case at Best Buy could get it off of my phone with any sort of ease. 4. Points 1-3 considered, it doesn't feel like it's worth $40 USD at all. I returned it and ended up buying the Spigen Liquid Crystal case from Amazon. Had it for a couple of months now. No scratches, fits great, basically never any debris in the case, easy to take off, and costs only $12. Cannot personally recommend the clear symmetry case, but again, that's just me. The other symmetry cases seem pretty nice. Great video, makes me wanna buy a Traction case. Looks super nice.
OtterBox traction looks pretty sweet with that splatter paint design on the rubber sides but don’t like the way it slides around like it does but I guess that’s what you get when you get a clear case like that

Is it just me or does your clear symmetry back scratch super easy I used it for less than a week and there’s so many scratches on the back and it’s also yellowing already
I don't like the ring on the back of the defender. My previous iPhone had a case with a ring on it and when I took it off there was a marked outline of where it was. I really don't want that to happen on my X. I want it to be fully protected and I wish the X case was like the Defender for some of the other models and just covered the back entirely. This is the only reason why I will probably get the Symmetry or is the Pursuit tougher?
I have the black Symmetry for my Xr, though it's way too slick/slippery, coupled with the thin depth, feels easy to drop. Same with a Rhinoshield I recently tried. I prefer the rubbery grip of a Defender case, why can't they make a the thinner cases out of that? the clear Symmetry does have more grip, but turns a funky yellow.
I was thinking why don’t you design and manufacture your own cases ? You’ve done all the R&D already.. You know what works and what doesn’t.. enjoying your videos!

I fiverr'ed the design of the print (I do own the rights). The creative shots are really the only thing that keeps me interested with my review videos right now.
Just received my iPhone xs Otterbox Pursuit case wow it’s big. Was not expecting that. It was very expensive so now I’m trying to decide if I want to keep it. I have the pursuit in one hand and the spigen Tough Armor in the other hand. Night and day cases in my opinion one was $20 the other was $80. You score them both the same with 4.2 out of five. Now what I’m trying to rack my brain around is. The quality that Otterbox puts into this case is huge in my opinion. Then I look at spigen and well they just don’t put the quality in as Otterbox does. Again they are both rated the same score on your list. The pursuit is heavy duty case. Spigen Tough Armor is just not meant for that. And I’m sure spigen wants it that way. But if I had to ask you what is the better case you would say......? I’m asking myself that very question. I’m sure the pursuit will last longer and handle wear and tear much better. I like my spigen Tough Armor’s I really do but the quality that Otterbox puts into there cases is just night and day from spigen. Hence probably why Otterbox charges so much more for there cases. I want to find a case that puts that quality in like Otterbox but I would prefer or more form fit tiny addition to the pursuit. Can you think of one.

There are only 2 Otterbox cases that labeled: (1) For iphone X, and the other label (2) For bigger size iphone X. For the first label, it is clear that it is for iphone X/Xs. But for the second label, I am not sure whether it is for iphone Xr or iphone Xs Max. This is probably the first case product that I know that is not clear on which phone can use the case. Is it such a problem to just label "For iphone Xr" or "For iphone Xs Max" rather than just state it as "For bigger size iphone X"? The standard of their labeling really make me question their professionalism and quality of their product (given the high price too - otterbox case is double the price of a better competition case).
Hi Aaron, in terms of grip and overall protection, would you go with the OtterBox Defender Pro? I drop my phones a lot; whether it slips out of my hand, it gets knocked out of my hand, or it's laying on or next to me in bed. So I want maximum protection. Along these lines, which between the two offers the most lip on the sides to protect the screen?
I used Symmetry for my 7+, and since the phone was not all glass, I was comfortable with it. With my xs max I am more comfortable using the commuter, perhaps I wasn’t willing to spend $90 on pursuit for few minor benefits. So as much as I love your review, I have to disagree with you that commuter series is useless. Cheers
I just bought a new symmetry case and I never buy Otterbox can stand the bulk and lack of no grip. But this new symmetry is amazing probably one of my favourite cases. It’s light really light buttons are amazing and I can’t believe how much slimmer the case feels unbelievable koodos to Otterbox 👍👍🙏🙏

Specks grip cases are great and not too bulky the defender will be a brick and I have heard the pursuit is a bulky case not as bad as the defender but I’m sure the speck case will be thinner then the pursuit just my thoughts

Lol, I wipe down my Iphone Xs with Glass cleaner/Clorox wipe; everyday when I come home! I can't stand holding my phone after a long day at school without cleaning it, grosssss. Also phones can cause acne if not cleaned!

Ever since my first phone I have been using Otterbox Commuters and never had a damaged phone with it on. Rubber is the best shock absorbtion material.
I don't mention it but every case (by themselves) in this video works with Qi-charging.

How’s the tactility of the traction? Been using the symmetry for 2 years now and refuse to change because of how nice the buttons click.
