What's the BEST Screen Protector for the iPhone XR and iPhone XS/XS Max? (It's not ZAGG)

- Every screen protector manufacturer wants you to believe that they have the BEST screen protector for your iPhone. Don't believe the hype! Here's 7 things that will help determine if the product is any good!

What are the different layers? 00:04:01
The first layer, the one closest to your finger is the Oleophobic Coating. This coating minimizes face grease smearing but it also provides you with the supposed 9H hardness on your device.
The second layer is the actual glass.
The third layer is an Optical Clear Adhesive that allows the glass to stick to the fourth layer which is just a piece of clear plastic.
The fifth and last layer is the glue (00:04:33) that actually sticks to the screen protector to your device. This adhesive is actually more important than you think.

There's generally, three different types.
The first is crappy glass which is hard to quantify where it comes from. Crap Glass is basically all the really cheap soda-lime glass that may be poorly manufactured or poorly tempered. If your glass breaks under pressure from your thumbnail, it's crap.
The 2nd type is tempered glass is basically made from regular Soda Lime glass which is what 99% of the worldʼs glass is made from and is tempered. We’re going to place Zaggʼs basic Invisible Shield at this level as well as stuff rom JetTech and ESR..
Premium glass is made from Alumino-Silicate (AS) glass which is incredibly strong. And is made stronger by soaking it in even more chemicals. AS glass is a type of glass technically has a superior impact and scratch resistance. This is why smartphone manufacturers use it for their screens (Corning).
FLOLAB’s NanoArmour uses a type of Alumino-SIlicate glass that is close to the level of glass used by the smartphones.

Wet wipe
In general, we know that the best way to clean your screen is to use water or water and mild soap if itʼs pretty bad. Anything else is generally not a good idea because it will strip the coating off of whatever youʼre cleaning.
Microfibre cloth
Good cloths absorb water easily. Poor cloths push the water around and thatʼs a bad thing since you want the microfibre cloth to collect all the grease and dust particles from your screen before you put a screen protector on it.
Dust sticker
For the longest time, we always thought these blue dust stickers were just awful because we generally couldnʼt use it more than once. But we learned that these blue stickers are actually pretty good because the adhesive is thin and theyʼre statically charged which aids in dust removal.
Install frames and tools
When bezel-less iPhoneʼs first came out, not many companies packaged their screen protectors with an install frame. Most do now.
FLOLAB includes an electronics wipe, blue dust sticker, high quality cloth and frame.
2.5D vs 3D vs 4D/5D screen protectors 00:13:50
2.5D screen protectors’ edge is formed by grinding it down. On a 3D screen protector, the edge is formed by bending the glass.
This process is much more involved and if youʼre wondering why 3D screen protectors have a black edge to them, itʼs this bending and curving process will result in imperfections in the glass so that black line is there to make it look nice.

Oleophobic Coating 00:16:06
Thereʼs generally two ways the Oleophobic coating gets applied. The first is by spraying it. The second is to have it statically applied.
Spray coatings might last a few months while the expensive variants of spray coatings will be at around 6 months.
Clarity 00:17:33
If you go to Amazon, youʼll see screen protectors that claim to be 99.9% clear which is highly unlikely. The glass by itself might be but when you start layering it with coatings, a couple of layers of glue and a piece of plastic, the clarity falls down to 92%.

@@msato8650 having said that I just bought the RhinoShield SolidSuit and RhinoShield 3D screen protector for 11 Pro Max after watching Aaron’s recommendation, the case is brilliant but the 3D screen protector kept on peeling off! I complained to RhinoShield who asked me to take pictures of the peeling off to them, I threw it away after a few days. Now looking for new screen protector, might get the Flolab from this video. Nothing to do with Aaron’s recommendation on RhinoShield, it’s the quality control from RhinoShield.

This is hands down the best screen protector review I've ever seen!
I can't believe you recommended this screen protector. I ordered it, waited a month, just applied it and the bottom corners refuse to stick. bubbles on both corners that wont go away. The Zagg I had on this was flawless. Just a heads up on people who are thinking about getting this. To me, it's subpar even compared to a Zagg.

Because of all the COMPLETELY positive reviews on this channel I had decided the Flolabs was the ONLY safe bet for my new iPhone XS Max since I am badly disabled and unable to safely hold onto my BIG new phone. Due to the major damage to my nervous system and now SIX neck & spine fusions (some redone TWICE!) I have a problem with sporadic issues where either of my arms will sort of "fling" inward or outwards now and if a phone is in that hand, God help my poor phone!
But ALL I read ANYWHERE about FloLabs screen protectors is how they flake out and literally ABANDON customers who have even paid but never get the product, or if they do it does NOT come with any promised Frame fr easy install etc etc etc. It just goes on & on with them. PLUS they have NO phone, only email and are in Hong Kong (China folks...) so good luck if you have ANY need to get support from them which over 50 percent of customers DO have a problem with. Just ruined any plan I had to do business with them. Problem is, I imagine Aaron Ho only has time to do these reviews and NOT investigate the personal experience of we customers who actually have to do the actual business with them and also get after sale support from them. The most glaring issue for me with this FloLabs outfit is the irony that just SCREAMS RUN to me is they are always "right there" for you pre-purchase. You order, do NOT see your purchase in the mail and they are suddenly NOWHERE to be found and leave you on your own....
Sorry but I spent the entire day yesterday reading ALL the comments in their videos and I stopped my order cold. I now have NO idea where to turn. I just wanted to say thanks for all your efforts, time and outlay. You’re definitely got one of the best review channels full stop, thanks to you my XS Max is now fully protected in a Flolab screen protector, and a Mous limitless 2.0 case, and looking really great too! If anyone else is doing the research now like I was, have no doubts, go for it! I’d always had Incipio and Speck cases since the 3GS. The Mous cases really are a grade above, they feel so much better made! And the Flolab screen protector compliments it perfectly, the screen is so clear and vivid! They also fit so well together, and offer compete all around protection.

Isn't it impossible for glass or even the coating to have a hardness rating of more than 5H? Zack on JerryRigEverything taught us that, I think. "Glass scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7..." With that said, this was an amazingly helpful video and something I will definitely keep in mind in the future. The only thing is, a lot of crap screen protectors are intentionally overpriced on Amazon, so choosing which ones to buy may be tricky. Generally, I've found iCarez to always be of high quality and a fair price, so I've been sticking with that brand for the last few years.
The coating gets scratched, if you remove the coating, the scratches disappear but it only works with hairline scratches.

I love your video reviews, wish I could be as thrilled with the product itself. On your recommendation, I ordered the Flolab screen protector on 4/26/20 - it is now 5/11/20 (2 weeks later) and according to USPS website they can't even confirm that the product has left point of origin. I've emailed the company twice to get an update and as of right now I haven't heard back from them. It would be nice if their product support team was as responsive as their billing department. I would have to say that a product that never arrives does far less to protect my screen than any of the other products out there.

In the same pocket as the phone, idk if they changed their products since this Video but I’ve had issues with two out of three screen protectors I have bought for my families devices this month...in top of it I had to wait nearly a full month for the shipping to come.... it was in “waiting to be delivered to usps” for two weeks or more. I’m just blown away. I’ve requested a full refund and am in search for a new screen protector.....please make another one of these videos that’s more updated or maybe just speak to the flolabs case because I’m saddened and angered by this

This is a quality product. It is the best screen protector I have ever owned and it was the easiest to install. I would highly recommend this especially if you are looking to avoid the issue of catching your thumb on the edge of a conventional screen protector which is what happened when I installed my original one on my iPhone XR.

@Scott Wolf Totally there with you my friend. I am using a Zagg visionguard+ right now, and I'm loving it. I had to try What Flolab had to offer though. Flo lab is nearly half the price of Zagg's out right purchase price. I purchased two of Flolabs 3D full coverage screen protectors. One has the notch cutout like Zagg does. The other is completely full coverage. Covers the face ID and Camera. Lol. I don't reccomend ever buying the later of the two lol. Covering the camera is a major downside to it. I like Zagg because they have life time replacement. I cracked my screen protector three times since I had my iPhone 8, $5 to ship a new ones. My phone is protected and I don’t have to fork out $25 (FloLab) a pop every time my screen protector breaks. When FloLab warranties their screen protectors for the life of the phone I’ll switch, the protection seems comparable. However Zagg is cheaper in the long run if you drop your phone a lot like me.

Just a heads up, I purchased the FloLab screen proctor for my XS Max in July and have still not received it. They responded to me late August after I had emailed them to let them know I never received it and they told me they were out of stock and offered to either refund me or ship me one when they were back in stock. I really wanted their screen protector after this review so I told them to just ship me it when they are back in stock; needless to say I still have not received it.
Since you are buying the FloLab protector directly from Asia... the phrase "Slow boat from China' takes on a lot of meaning. Always get the upgraded Shipping method they offer. Yes, it almost doubles the price, but your product will be directly shipped through DHL Worldwide, and take a lot less time to get there (three to four business days).

Ordered and paid extra to express ship two Flolab NanoArmour screen protectors. ZERO followup with DHL tracking. The screen protectors never showed up. Seriously disappointed since I was ordering double for the new iPhone 11 Pro Max I got my Mom and myself. I gave them an extra week past the 3-5 days promised and asked for a refund. I'm back with your videos shopping again.

Any idea if that Flolab 3D screen protector will work with your number one rated Mous limitless case. I see they have a case friendly screen protector, but I'm not a fan of the notch cut-out in it. Thanks for the great review and all the time you put into these!
After seeing this review, I went and ordered a screen protector on 7/21/19 from FloLab. I received the standard, "We have received your order," email. Since then I have had no communication from the company about my order. I paid for Express shipping as well. According to their website, I should have received the order on Monday or Tuesday (5-7 business days later). Mind you, I still haven't received the, "Your item has shipped," email. I went to their website and tried to leave a message through their "Contact Us" link on Monday, and haven't received a reply to that either. I am pretty pissed at this point. I would NOT recommend you order from this company.

I purchased a Ranvoo screen protector for my XR from Amazon. So far, so good and the price was much more affordable yet its description seems it should be very good. I would like to see you test one of these. I have no affiliation to Amazon or Ranvoo.
So I just looked at their website, red flags that came up include:

-Saying tempering prevents scratches

I purchased this screen protector and got the screen protector with a blur on the glass . My contact person is Bert so far I have sent two sets of photos and I keep getting the runaround.I would never use the company FlowLab for anything the support Is very poor and the product has flaws and my view is they couldn’t care less.

Phenomenal reviews. Kind of confused on what to get given your reviews of the Mous Hybrid and the Flolab Nano Armor. I am looking to get a Mous Clarity case and am not sure which would work better. Also with the Flolab they have the "case friendly" version vs. the full coverage in the 3D screen protectors but one has the notch at the top on the case friendly and I thought that would expose it more to getting damaged on a drop. Anyway I was really hoping you might offer some insight into the difference. Thanks!!! Curyous....

Amazing channel
Quick question I’m using the Tethys 3D screen protector from amazon and I’m noticing that my screen is considerably less sensitive. Did I apply it incorrectly? I don’t see any air bubbles and it had a guiding tool.
