Tyler, i tied on and fished my first drop shot yesterday. Thank you for the how to videos! After 5 hrs of no bites on top water, crank bait, jerkbaits ,Texas rigs, Ned rigs , or spinner baits. ( actually got 1 Drumfish on a spinner) I remembered watching a video you had done about the drop shot and how to tie it. I managed to catch 5 spotted bass in 45 min on my very first drop shot.... THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY DAY ON THE WATER UNFORGETTABLE!
I just started bass fishing and have been researching all the techniques. I really enjoy the energy of your videos and the way you explain everything. I went to the local pond/lake this weekend and killed it on the drop shot when no one else was catching!! Thanks for putting these videos out. I’m looking forward to perfecting more bass fishing techniques throughout the seasons. Thanks Tyler!!
Was just looking for drop shot tips. going to Lake Winnie in NH in couple weeks. Super clear water and loaded with Smallies. Perfect Timing!, great vid as usual
Thanks Tyler!! I’ve tried doing the drop shot w out much success but I wasn’t fishing it right. I didn’t know I needed to hop it!😂. Now we know and knowings 1/2 the battle!😂
I’ve never had much of a chance to dropshot (normally bank fishing), but now I’m able to get on the water I’ll be doing it the first time I take the kayak on a lake. I can’t wait!!😬😂🤣
I'm a Canadian angler who's PB Smallmouth is 7 pounds, and the drop shot always produces big Smallmouth. In Clear water I always use 3 inch power bait minnows.
If the leader (bait to weight) distance is 2' for example, your bait will only be about 1' from the bottom if your line is at a 45 degree angle. So whatever distance you want the bait from the bottom, you need 2x or so the leader length.
As a beginner i am trying to figure when to use what method...so when is it ideal to use the drop shot. When to use the dofferent methods? As always thanks so much for all ur educational videos....helping me understand it a little more each video
Hi Tyler...great video...thanks for the tips and all the help with this technique...... I have not tried it but after this, Iwill..... 2 quetions for you... I noticed you were fishing right next to private property. How close can you get adn have you ever had issues with the owners at any point? not just there, but while fishing near private property? thanks again for all the help.....congrats to Colton on his PB.
Hmm, I’m not sure what you mean by private property. I’m fishing on all public water in this video. I guess sometimes we are fishing close to people’s houses? If that’s what you’re referring to, you can fish any waters up to people’s property land.
I noticed you’re using braid for your dropshot. Is that your preferred line for dropshot? Do you get better twitch off the bottom because the line doesn’t stretch? Is there an advantage to using braid for dropshot over flouro? Also, how long is your flouro leader? Thanks man, great video!
What are you using to mount your GoPro that covers the entire deck with? Is it a YoloTek stick or something else? Trying to redo my GoPro Mounts and I like your camera angle.
Do you have any issues with that TP1 rods microguides and your leader knots? Ive never used microguides and Im afraid of spending the money on something im not happy with
They are both very different from one another, so you cannot really compare them. I just made a video about the Ned rig as well. Drop shot is for fish that are more suspended, Ned rig is for fish feeding on the bottom
TylersReelFishing ooooh okay. Awesome. Thank you Tyler. I’m just now getting deeper into bass fishing and trying to intake as much info as I can. Switching from fishing catfish both with a float and on bottom and going to bass fishing it’s a total adrenaline rush
When I do dropshot, I always end up with less tag line to tie the weight, and I dont wanna cut off line if I use too much, whats the preferable line amount
It is much harder to throw. With the drop shot being a light lure, it's harder to get distance with on a baitcaster, and harder to feel the bite. It's just made for a spinning rod
TylersReelFishing yea man. Please do. Finesse rods. Why use a spinner rod and reel as opposed to a bait caster? I’m a newer angler and wanting to up my bass catching game so the channel is a big help but some of the terms go over my head
I live in new York around the Niagara river and those smallies fight so hard don't they Tyler? I have an offer to come fish rushford lake if your back up in new york, thats my lake I have had a cottage on for my whole life and your more then welcome to possibly come film a video there. I know you prolly won't respond but hey it was worth a shot
This and Tactical Bassin are the best to learn from.
Love that!
I can’t stand Matts voice 😂😂 so I avoid tactical bassin
I get bored watching tactical bassin.
Tyler is so entertaining

Let’s go!! That’s so awesome!
This is a great channel. Very well put together videos, and extremely informative. Appreciate what you are doing here! God bless!
Thank you so much!
First time I saw the dropshot I realizes I had been using a similar rig when saltwater fishing. Deadly rig for Smallmouth. Great video.
Thanks homie

Glad to have ya around!
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve tried drop shotting several times but I needed a video that explained how to actually fish it. Yours was perfect!
Glad it helped!
Thank you I struggle with this haven’t used know feel little more confident to try after this !!!
As someone who is a stickler for the details, I really love your channel.
I’m glad you enjoy it👍🏼
I've never actually tried a drop shot before. But I will be sure to tie one on this weekend. Thanks for the video!
Give it a try Tim!
Was just looking for drop shot tips. going to Lake Winnie in NH in couple weeks. Super clear water and loaded with Smallies. Perfect Timing!, great vid as usual
Thanks John! Good luck to ya out there
It's a great time for the drop shot around me for some big smallies in East TN
Thanks Tyler!! I’ve tried doing the drop shot w out much success but I wasn’t fishing it right. I didn’t know I needed to hop it!😂. Now we know and knowings 1/2 the battle!😂
Heck yeah!
Go Joe!!! 😂
Addicted to the drop shot
MY DUDE!!! I BEEN WAITING ON A VIDEO FROM YOU.... Your awesome and keep up the great work
Thanks John!!
@@TylersReelFishing NO THANK YOU!!! REALLY LOVE LEARNING NEW TIPS FROM YOU!!!

Awesome!
I absolutely love your videos, always watching them when i stumble across them.. but i never think to subscribe. Except i did this time!!! 🥰
Welcome aboard!
Great instructional!! Your channel is fantastic!
Thanks so much!
I always describe a drop shot like the inverse of a bobber. One’s a suspended bait via floating and the other suspended from the bottom via tension
That’s genius haha
Wow Amazing 4.05 👍🏻🎣
Loved the video, really informative
Glad it helped!
Hey Tyler! After the last video I buckled down and found the fish! I caught a 2.5 lb smallmouth!
I love that!
I'm a Canadian angler who's PB Smallmouth is 7 pounds, and the drop shot always produces big Smallmouth. In Clear water I always use 3 inch power bait minnows.
For sure, great choice 👍🏼

Doing great bud!

Great video, I didn’t understand how to do a drop shot, but thanks to this vid I think I get it
Can't wait to use this up in Michigan
What part of Michigan ?
Great video! I'm a drop shot newb so this helped a lot! Thanks
Awesome!
I don’t know why but I’m addicted to drop shot fishing it’s just so fun.
Once you realize how easy it is, you hardly ever leave without one
I like this channel a lot
0:10- just a casual floating catfish lmao
She dead haha
Turtles got to eat
Smallies are so beautiful! My favorite fish! Still have yet to catch one though…. :(
Caught my first smallmouth last weekend
That's awesome
Good old dropshot! If your not throwing one your missing out!
Nice 👍 Video
That’s Awesome
Thanks!
Please take my bro and I fishing ! We live in Rochester NY and have had the worst luck fishing the last few weeks
Wish I could! Maybe next year
That's a Bigun!

Try some spillway small mouth fishing, I caught my pb fish 9 1/2 pound saugeye wading
Will be doing that this summer!
What's a saugeye??? Do u mean sauger???
Hey Tyler I just got the Anglr app that you use and can u make a video of how to use it
Yep! Got that planned to make soon
Tylers Reel Fishing, great and informative video as always! I hope my channel has a fraction of the success that yours has! Keep doin what you do!

Sorry for all the questions! I was just curious about your line choice 👍🏼
Great video!
Thanks bud!
I guess a tokyo rig can possibly do the same in some situations but yeah dropshot is king
I didn’t expect you to be in ny I was thinking more south
I spend time all around the country!
Yeah upstate NY,where was this filmed? Love the extra help man
St. Law
Can you come fish guntersville with Darien Craig
Already have twice! I’ll come again tho for sure

What part of upstate NY is this? Glad I subscribed to this channel!
Looks like they are around Clayton NY on the St.Lawrence River
Yep
Great video. Is the rod your using a medium fast action ?
Moderate fast usually
Hey Tyler. Love the video. Where will you be announcing who won the trip?
It’s announcing soon
🔥
What’s the reasoning for braid to Fluoro on spinning reels vs straight Fluoro
Sensitivity and better casting
I will explain that in a video coming out soon
Was this Lake George in NY? I'm actually from around there!
No, the St. Lawrence River!
I caught my PB LMB on a drop shot in a pond, 6lb -7oz. I could always use some additional insight on a DS.
Do you have any issues with that TP1 rods microguides and your leader knots? Ive never used microguides and Im afraid of spending the money on something im not happy with
I have not had an issue with that
how do you only have 167k, bruhhh
Just how it is! Share me with your buddies and I’ll grow faster!
@@TylersReelFishing oof, that moment when all your buddies already watch TRF
What are the pros and cons against the ned rig and the drop shot rig?

Are drop shots good for bank fishing?
They can be, but are better out deeper
Hello Tyler! How was your week for your 4th of July?
And I just posted a video about the fourth if you want to watch? m.th-cam.com/video/9fC6v6n8O3A/w-d-xo.html
When I do dropshot, I always end up with less tag line to tie the weight, and I dont wanna cut off line if I use too much, whats the preferable line amount
Just takes time to learn the proper amount each time. I still mess it up on occasion. I like a 18in leader or so
Do you know where the mn meet and greet will be at ?
Most likely a public park since I don't think Cabelas would allow us to do it due to Covid
TylersReelFishing ok
Caught a 2 and half pounder on wacky worm
Is the dropshot not that effective on a baitcast reel?
It is much harder to throw. With the drop shot being a light lure, it's harder to get distance with on a baitcaster, and harder to feel the bite. It's just made for a spinning rod
What is “finesse fishing”? I hear it a lot but not sure what that is or how it differs from any other type of fishing
I’ll explain that in a video soon👍🏼
TylersReelFishing yea man. Please do. Finesse rods. Why use a spinner rod and reel as opposed to a bait caster? I’m a newer angler and wanting to up my bass catching game so the channel is a big help but some of the terms go over my head
Can i use a senko for a drop shot rig?
You can! But it’s probably too heavy for the usual drop shot line setup
A Tokyo rig you can fish it slowly and it isn’t on the bottom
True, but most of the Tokyo rigs out there just elevate the bait by like 3-4in. That's still a "bottom bait" imo
TylersReelFishing yeah but omg you actally answerd 😂
I live in new York around the Niagara river and those smallies fight so hard don't they Tyler? I caught my pb 5 1/2 on a drop shot with a zoom watermelon purple trick worm.
That’s great!
We’re you at lake George Ny. ?
No
Drop shot works in Florida caght a 6 pounder on a drop shot tyler and my name is tyler
Nice!
Drop shot will usually catch fish when nothing else seems to work
what was tht thing he was using in min 13
th-cam.com/video/-xFWvQuYtCQ/w-d-xo.html
Hey can anyone suggest some good rod and reels please I’m having trouble finding some
th-cam.com/video/2-05KNOoE1I/w-d-xo.html
TylersReelFishing thx 🙏
What’s your favorite plastic to use?
All depends on the situation. Can't give an answer for that, since my favorite is the one that is catching the most fish at the time
What body of water is this?
St Lawrence river
Drop shots, Ned rigs and chatterbaits or anything with an open hook do not play well with wood. Lessons from lost lures in submerged trees.
That is very true

Did you just casually float by a dead fish at 15 second mark lol?
Yep lol
First
Your drag sounds weird
Needed some oil
Over kill lmao 20lb braid 😂
It’s still super thin, and I’m fighting big smallmouth in heavy current. No need to go less than 15 for sure
