The Hollywood sign hike is a very popular hike for both Angelenos and tourists coming to Los Angeles. Many people get lost trying to find this hike as Google Maps and Waze redirects drivers to the Griffith Observatory where you can still see the Hollywood sign but still are not close enough to get behind the sign itself. This is why I made the video to help finally explain how to get to and behind the Hollywood Sign.
The public entrance to Griffith Park that's closest to the Hollywood Sign sits at the end of Deronda. Head north on Beachwood and pass the Beachwood market until you get to Ledgewood Dr. Turn right on Ledgewood Drive and make your way up to Deronda. Follow Deronda to the white gate, where the trail will start. There are other ways to get to the Hollywood Sign as well, so keep in mind the parking sings and make sure you dont block any driveways in the process.

someone needs to make a video on parking tips on Ledgewood st...
ive driven that neighborhood plenty of times and there are NO places to park. Every inch is marked with No Parking signs, local neighborhood permit only

Unfortunately I am not sure. It is unpredictable at this moment. Check for latest posts on instagram is one way to find out. I hope you have fun and stay safe!

No worries! I talked to parking enforcement last time I did the hike, they confirmed that you can park alongside Rockcliff Drive which is close to the start of the hike! I used to park alongside Beachwood too with no problem. Just look out for the signs!

I walked down Hollywood boulevard then walked to the sign. I was so tired and my legs hurt so much but I made it. I wish I could have went to the back of the sign but my phone was dying 😭🙂

Just an fyi, this route isn’t open anymore! The entrance is all shut with signs saying no hiking.
False information as a lot of foot traffic through gate today May 29 Memorial Day. 2:05 Since this video Gate just behind 4 steps.

Hello, thanks for the question! From what I’ve been told as long as you don’t obstruct their driveways, park in restricted areas, or be disruptive, then you should be fine. You won’t be crossing anyone’s property.
@@ArsalanAspires omg thank you so much for replying!!! but i just read this: Bad News: The Hollyridge Trailhead was closed to the public in April of 2017. Brush Canyon Trail to Mount Lee is the suggested alternative to hike to the Hollywood Sign. The directions from Hollyridge Trail will remain on this site, should the trailhead be reopened. (Yes, it should!).

You’re welcome! 🙂. The last time I did the hike was back in August and as far as I know the trail is open. A good starting point is navigating to: 3390 Deronda Drive, Los Angeles. But don’t park here unless you are parking on rock cliff drive. I usually park on Beachwood and walk up to 3390. A 15 minute walk. Then walk around the gate like in my video. Then you can view the sign and take the trail up.
