In fact, I prefer that it lacks the second screen in favor of real, tactile buttons for essential controls like HVAC. The A6 Allroad has a good bit more cargo space. It also has about a couple inches more backset leg room due to the longer wheelbase. Great review - I am a crossover wagon (kombi/wagen) person all the way. I used to drive my Volvo XC70 as a daily for years. Through any weather or terrain with absolute clarity and comfort. Man, I have only watched your 2022/23 videos and this is a very refreshing perspective. The different camera angles and the deep dive all in one are great. Amazing video here. I hope more people choose wagons because of this.
The regular Avants never sold well. These convince a few people they are just like a crossover off-road (which they are, since neither offers much). The RS6 version is strictly a response to Mercedes. I doubt Audi will sell many, but the price means they don't have to.
I love how he’s talking about how expensive it is, meanwhile in Europe the A6 allroad is another 20,000$ extra when compared to the US price…(just like every car)
I always look forward to these reviews. No matter what the car is I always know I'll learn something new and have a new appreciation for the engineering behind the vehicle. And as always, production quality is so clean and crisp and it makes me wonder why all youtube channels don't put this much work into a simple review, especially one about a run-of-the-mill Audi Allroad. Good stuff guys.
Thanks!. We ended up buying a 2022 Allroad with just 10k miles on the clock!. Your review gave us confidence and I'm leaving behind an S5 convertible for this. It's worth it!.
Great, always love the German car reviews. For just a moment I thought Mark looked and acted more subdued and sophisticated instead of his normal "punk" self. All your reviews rock... keep up the great work. cheers, BW
Congratulations for once again a great review and I am always astonished by the high quality of your visuals and your broadcast design everything is seriously broadcast level, highly professional, very appreciated by myself. Please continue the great work!
I've always liked the Allroad concept and all wagons for that matter. But the complexity of the Audi! Can't imagine owning this ride long term without an extended warranty option or lease contract to bail me out of a maintenance/repair nightmare! Also, I'd love to see a typical Allroad driver take this puppy off road! Awesome review, as always!
German overengineering at its peak... These are made for 3 year leases , possibly by a business to its management. Nobody in the marketing and product design department at Audi cares about the service liabilities all those gadgets become after 5 or 10 years, except for the added service revenue for costly repairs.
I owned the previous US version of this car. It was an amazing car. I drove in all on- and off-road conditions. It was great for around Denver in summer and winter, it was even better headed to the mountains in snow and ice to ski. I even drove it on a 19 mile fire road in the mountains to go camping - muddy and slick with no slippage whatsoever. I loved that car.
You made me love this car. I just ordered a 2024. What a great ride it has. I got the Chronos gray with the new Okapi Brown leather choice. I am glad they still make this unicorn.
Would love to know your thoughts on how this compares to an equivalent MB E400/E450 Wagon! For luxury wagon buyer that don’t have rs6/e63 money those are the only two real options.
Fantastic review. I had a 2014 allroad. Would you be able to review an a4 allroad, even though they are almost dead? It takes care of the simplicity whereas this is very technical. A b9 should still be available
@@suleiman3811 when the cruel hand of depreciation pushes a used V6 Stinger down to $20k in a couple of years, I’ll be living the high life. I might be seen grand touring through a town near you.
Really appreciate your reviews man. I really like your technical superiority yet straight-forward and understandable manner in presenting information in a simple unbiased way. The biggest problem I have with Audi is their spotting reliability and expensive maintenance structure. I like their design and comfort, but I agree that simply loading a vehicle with all the technology possible is not necessarily the best practice especially if you have not fully addressed the reliability proposition. I tend to go back to this issue every time I purchase a new car and then just end up defaulting to Lexus. ALL mechanically operated machinery will have problems at some point or another but I much rather it be an exception rather than a rule.
Once people start crashing because they have to take their eyes off the road to change even the basic of functions, maybe manufacturers will realize "everything touchscreen" is dangerous and can't be replaced by physical buttons and switches! Mazda gets it, sadly most others don't
Man, I love how quiet it is under heavy throttle! I guess I just don’t understand the appeal of owning a car with a really loud engine and exhaust, though I do find supercharger whine kind of pleasant.
It’s not nearly as bad as you think, muscle memory sets in soon after you drive the car regularly and then it’s basically the same as reaching for the volume knob at that point
You should realize how shallow and image-fixated the average customer is. To most people Touch-screens = Expensive High tech = High status = something they can show off discretely. Buttons look old and outdated to the average non-car-person. I took a course in product psychology. Most people (often subconsciously) choose the product that increases their perceived social status. Usually this means designing something to look expensive, not necessarily to look good. This explains a lot of modern SUV-design. Ugly and brash, but looks very expensive (Porsche Cayenne for example). That is the real reason why touch screens are so popular.
Everytime I watch one of these complicating cars with all these gadgets, and I appreciate my fully mechanical 95 civic hatchback as well as my pure 2001 miata. It's nice to be poor sometimes :)
Agreed!... these new cars will make a rich man poor! From the high cost to buy one, to the expensive maintenance costs... and when those gadgets eventually break, like air suspension and electronics, you’ll be emptying your bank account to repair them!
My ‘02 bug-eyes WRX wagon is actually pretty similar to this in packaging and performance, yet it is delightfully analog in all its controls and engineering, and it still works and drives great!
Quick tip for you on Audi vehicles with this dual-screen MMI system: If you hold down the screen power icon/button in the top right of the HVAC screen it will put the car into screen cleaning mode and almost completely black out the bottom screen as well as disable the top one.
My wife traded in her 2017 taco TRDOR for a 2013 allroad prestige. Scuba blue, brown seats, and black interior. Such a joy to drive. So much more than what the tacoma had. We got lucky with the package option with this car. Original MSrP was 60k... We picked it up for 17k @ 90000mi These cars are affordable if your able to buy used
Mr. Geese is number 1 when it comes to car reviews. I drive a 2008 A4 wagon, 80,000 miles looks and drives fantastic and it would probably sell for around $8,000. There is no GPS ( I do own a phone ) and no modern tech or a sound system I would never listen too. I must be living in the dark ages.
2020 Buick Regal TourX started at a bit under $30,000 and no one bought it. It handled reasonably well, had big interior space and decent interior trimmings. The trimmings are relevant because I remember the last Pontiac Bonneville's bubble-like plastic moldings. God I hate this country's homogenized buying habits! All it really needed was the corporate 3.6L V-6 (in the wagon), paddle shifters (?) and maybe MagneRide. BOOM! Roadmaster Wagon.
Change My Mind: Wagons with raised suspension (V90 cross country) are better than Crossovers (Q5, GLC). They offer better dynamics with almost same amount of Luggage Space and Rear Legroom.
@@delusion2987 Great points! The main reason we chose our RX over the Subaru we were looking at was the slightly higher ride height and especially drive height. When everyone is riding high, it’s nice to be on level.
Thanks for this review. I appreciate the way you phrase your comments. Unlike other reviewers, you avoid blanket statements, like “It’s too expensive!” You provide an explanation and/or a context for the comments you make. Well done, man!
I have one that I leased earlier this year and it is a fantastic car, the comments about the touch screens are 100% correct. I've driven 4000 miles so far and still am not comfortable using MMI while driving, Audi ultimately plans to get even more Tesla like and eliminate the volume knob in the not too distant future :-(
There’s the slightly smaller A4 all road too that is what you’re talking about, more stripped down with one less screen and comes standard with adaptive dampers instead of air ride
+1. Nice review. .. Hot Rod wagons have always been kwel. ..UrS6, S6, RS6, AMG MB wagons both C Class and E Class models (Canada & Europe) .. Make mine an E Class in medium grey metallic & black leather everywhere. .. Understated H.P. Wagons are kwel. ..

@Youn Gu .. Think MY21 Subaru XT Outback. .. Loaded, @ $36K to $40K .. drive the pants off of it for ten years and you're ahead of the game. .. new Subi Outback XT is very quiet and pedestrian (generic) beyond its peers.
Excellent video and review! My hat goes off to you and this video nailed it! How would you compare A6 to the Mercedes wagon that is an all terrain vehicle? I noticed that body of the Mercedes wagon now looks more like the Allroad or A6. I think because that design is very nice looking. Nonetheless, both vehicles are crazy expensive and I have looked at both and have a hard time with the cost. However, your dive into the technology of this vehicle and how sophisticated it is makes sense as to why it costs so much. It sounds like you would not want to pay that kind of money for this car. Would you suggest a GLE 450 or 350 as a less expensive option? But, my main question is comparing the A6 to the Mercedes E450 wagon. I think 85,000 is the new 50,000 right now. Thanks
I love wagons, and this thing is amazing. But holy price tag to play.. I'll stick with my Buick TourX. No it's not nearly as nice in the interior or fast or sporty. But I'm a Dad with my kids climbing in and out of the car. I couldn't fathom dropping 55k on a volvo let alone 70K+ for this one just to have my kids scuffing stuff up or spilling stuff in the back on a road trip. I'll stick with my 40K(marked down to 30K) tourx for now.
Wagon porn! Love it. Seems like my Alltrack but dressed up for prom. The software and active controls are complex. Though I like the car this looks like a lease to me.
Great video!!! I drove a 2021 and your insights and impressions were on point! Just subscribed and look forward to seeing all your content. Also have a 2009 Porsche 911 and your review was relatable and honest on the 997.2 as well! Great work!!
Great commentary and very informative.i think for those that can afford it and have no worries concerning depreciation & on going servicing costs it’s a great choice ( UK ) but for most totally out of reach !
I lost my interest in the wagon when I saw those massive screens, no buttons, and all that gloss plastic. Awesome review though. Car makers have lost the plot totally.
The digital gauges get me. I want to watch the needle travel, not a screen jumping from number to number refreshing slowly. And got God's sake, put a volume knob for the head unit.
The midsize German sedans with higher specs are all around 70k+ now. The V6, air suspension, leather are all pushing 70k+. You can get the lower spec vehicles for low 60k’s. It’s about and extra 10k for the higher specs. Is it worth it? Drive both the lower and upper end models and you might save yourself 10k.
Thank you for reviewing a wagon, an unpopular choice nowadays. Please review its closest competitor, Mercedes E450 wagon. Mercedes spoiled it for MY 2021 by adding cladding and such, perhaps to compete with Audi Allroad.
I recently ordered from factory an B9.5 2024 A4 Allroad Prestige, with the Black Optics Package, fully spec'd out back in December, shooting for it to be here in May hopefully. It's the last model year Audi is offering it here in the US so my sales rep said it could take a lil longer but even if it does so, I decided for it over this A6 Allroad mainly bc I am not for what VW group has been doing over the past few years with turning everything haptic, & switching all controls into infotainment. The B9.5 gen of the A4 I feel nailed such a sweet spot of nice leathers, alloys, & physical switches, & left the touch controls to what they should be. Yea, ig it might look a lil dated compared to what they've been doing with the newer stuff with all screens, but some things should always be function over form & these manufacturers need to realize that. Plus, I didn't like how the rear valance didn't have actual exhaust tips exposed, they're all tucked up which tbf ig the Allroad is more "trail focused" but fr who is offroading an Allroad lol. The A4 Allroad I ordered is basically the same 0-60 as the A6 - 5s, & tbh if I were to get any 6 denomination Audi, it'd be the RS6 Avant. I feel like that's the only way to go. I've had hot hatches & sport sedans for the past 10 years, & although I'm not too into the Allroad/ offroad cladding aesthetic, the Black Optics Package I ordered has the cladding as metal & painted in Manhattan Grey which offsets GREAT with the District Green Metallic color I ordered, & tbh I'm over the harsh sport focused drivers I've been dailying over the past 10 years. When I test drove the Allroad the adaptive suspension was awesome & the 90% of time I'll be driving it in Dynamic it'll handle great & be quick enough, but that 10% of when I just wanna relax & enjoy my drive is possible with it. I'm so sick of dodging Ohio potholes, since this state is a giant pothole in general. But yea, the new interiors absolutely pushed me away from going with the A6 - that & the lack of rear visible exhaust outlets. Hoping that Audi can somehow find another sweet spot in the next revision if we even get one. If not, I'll prob bite the bullet at the end of my least & just go RS6 Avant, I'd just hate to spend $130k & hate the interior I'm spending my time in.

We own both an '21 Outback Touring XT wagon and a '22 Mercedes All-Terrain E-450 Wagon in Vail, Colorado
Perfect timing. I just picked up my RS6 Avant last night!
Damn bro congrats! Enjoy it and take good care of it because im buying it in 7 years lol.
Congrats
Man, I have only watched your 2022/23 videos and this is a very refreshing perspective. The different camera angles and the deep dive all in one are great. Amazing video here. I hope more people choose wagons because of this.
This was fantastic. I watch an unhealthy amount of car reviews and I appreciate your honesty, along with you getting into the weeds a bit. Well done
It’s interesting that North America only gets the high performance model and the lifted model of the A6 avant
I'm just happy that we get any A6 avant over here. It's been nearly a decade since we've had one.
The regular Avants never sold well. These convince a few people they are just like a crossover off-road (which they are, since neither offers much). The RS6 version is strictly a response to Mercedes. I doubt Audi will sell many, but the price means they don't have to.
@@markmiller3279 The RS6 Avant is selling like hotcakes and for well above sticker. They can't make them fast enough and allotments are coveted.
That side mirror slap at the end tied it all together. Nice touch!
Nobody in the marketing and product design department at Audi
cares about the service liabilities all those gadgets become after 5 or 10 years, except for the added service revenue for costly repairs.
Just bought a 2020 CPO - warranty until October 2025 and Unlimited Mileage. But yes, would not want to own one out of warranty
I would take this over any SUV. Well, maybe not the Stelvio.
huge wagon fan from barrington. also your outro is clean as heck
You made me love this car. I just ordered a 2024. What a great ride it has. I got the Chronos gray with the new Okapi Brown leather choice. I am glad they still make this unicorn.
It cracks me up in the final thoughts. He basically described the A4 Allroad.
Would love to know your thoughts on how this compares to an equivalent MB E400/E450 Wagon! For luxury wagon buyer that don’t have rs6/e63 money those are the only two real options.
You sir are a pro’s pro - excellent job breaking down the Allroad 6
Fantastic review. I had a 2014 allroad. Would you be able to review an a4 allroad, even though they are almost dead? It takes care of the simplicity whereas this is very technical. A b9 should still be available
I’m really curious to see long term cost of ownership comparison between this more practical wagon body style and the Kia Stinger GT2?
Did you say Kia Stinger GT2?😂
These are pretty reliable I think.
@@suleiman3811 when the cruel hand of depreciation pushes a used V6 Stinger down to $20k in a couple of years, I’ll be living the high life. I might be seen grand touring through a town near you.
This is an alternative to a minivan. Nothing more, but may be PriusV
@@StephenClarkSAC better options available
Mazda gets it, sadly most others don't
cars will drive themselves before that ever happens
nah they'll just add more aggressive safety features, screens won't go away.
True dat!
You cant use your phone while driving in many countries, but you need to play with touchscreen, to turn off the radio!
I hate touches!
They need to just start licensing the Google Assistant which works pretty well for voice control.
Man, I love how quiet it is under heavy throttle! I guess I just don’t understand the appeal of owning a car with a really loud engine and exhaust, though I do find supercharger whine kind of pleasant.
Stupid touchscreens everywhere ... :( Damn i hate this trend.
Me too...
Its significantly less expensive than buttons.
Its not coming back in the VAG cars
Agree, its extremely annoying. Give me buttons and knobs every time.
Thank you, more Audi. Would love some RS models!
Man this is such a nice wagon
Perfect for the mountains and camping
Everytime I watch one of these complicating cars with all these gadgets, and I appreciate my fully mechanical 95 civic hatchback as well as my pure 2001 miata. It's nice to be poor sometimes :)
Agreed!... these new cars will make a rich man poor! From the high cost to buy one, to the expensive maintenance costs... and when those gadgets eventually break, like air suspension and electronics, you’ll be emptying your bank account to repair them!
This car is nothing more than PriusV in usability. Just a family hauler.
My ‘02 bug-eyes WRX wagon is actually pretty similar to this in packaging and performance, yet it is delightfully analog in all its controls and engineering, and it still works and drives great!
No it’s not.
Quick tip for you on Audi vehicles with this dual-screen MMI system: If you hold down the screen power icon/button in the top right of the HVAC screen it will put the car into screen cleaning mode and almost completely black out the bottom screen as well as disable the top one.
a friend had a 2014 allroad, he loved it until mid 2019, which is a lot longer than most people love VW products.
Audi's BMW Mercedes are great company lease vehicles for executives. Owning these out of warranty would be crazy expensive.
Newer Audis seem pretty reliable. You just have to make the right choice!
@@shakke52 Newer Audis have actually collapsed in reliability since VW did 1 billion dollar in new development cost cutting.
I’d get an extended warranty if I got a new one of these.
0:53 - Strong come hither pose
My wife traded in her 2017 taco TRDOR for a 2013 allroad prestige. Scuba blue, brown seats, and black interior. Such a joy to drive. So much more than what the tacoma had. We got lucky with the package option with this car.
Original MSrP was 60k...
We picked it up for 17k @ 90000mi
These cars are affordable if your able to buy used
3:43. It could fit a half sized, piano black coffin, perhaps?
I assume Mark's testament includes mention of coffin materials. 😏
This has come a long long way from the original allroad. Audi has always had a great aesthetic.
MORE WAGONS
No need for the ambient lighting Mark. Looks like Jack was giving you that come hither look. Lol. Great job guys as usual.
You never disappoint.
True dat!
Change My Mind: Wagons with raised suspension (V90 cross country) are better than Crossovers (Q5, GLC). They offer better dynamics with almost same amount of Luggage Space and Rear Legroom.
True dat!
Exactly the review I've been waiting for. THANKS!
Thanks for doing what you do guys! Living my dream
I look forward to buying one of these in 5 years at 1/4 cost
Thanks for the review Mr. Goose!
Just in time for expensive things to break!
Nice to see someone listening to Cold War Kids. Such a great band. Great video too.
I have one that I leased earlier this year and it is a fantastic car, the comments about the touch screens are 100% correct. I've driven 4000 miles so far and still am not comfortable using MMI while driving, Audi ultimately plans to get even more Tesla like and eliminate the volume knob in the not too distant future :-(
Great review! The sweetspot between practicality and fun to drive is for everyone to decide.Just wonder how you find this car vs the RDX
There’s the slightly smaller A4 all road too that is what you’re talking about, more stripped down with one less screen and comes standard with adaptive dampers instead of air ride
A review by this guy on the RS6 would be awesome! Love the channel!
Awesome review as always
An elegant vehicle from a more civilized age.
+1. Nice review. .. Hot Rod wagons have always been kwel. ..UrS6, S6, RS6, AMG MB wagons both C Class and E Class models (Canada & Europe) .. Make mine an E Class in medium grey metallic & black leather everywhere. .. Understated H.P. Wagons are kwel. ..
holy moly you finally review what I've been looking up
I hate to say this but $70+k brand new is way out of my budget, I wish it goes to $30k range in a few years so I can get my hands to it one day
@Youn Gu .. Think MY21 Subaru XT Outback. .. Loaded, @ $36K to $40K .. drive the pants off of it for ten years and you're ahead of the game. .. new Subi Outback XT is very quiet and pedestrian (generic) beyond its peers.
By the time this car is $30k, you’ll be in over your head with repair bills and large maintenance items.
Thanks
Today I learned I live within an hour of you. Great review!
This car is like the part of engineering school where you create excel programs to do your homework and you forget how to do it by hand.
Another great review!
I have looked at the Buick wagon.
It’s a great car. We love our’s.
Wagon porn! Love it. Seems like my Alltrack but dressed up for prom. The software and active controls are complex. Though I like the car this looks like a lease to me.
Exactly, leasing or renting once a month is a better option
Great looking car, and the wagon body style is fantastic, I would be absolutely terrified of owning this out of warranty though.
This review crushed it.
I lost my interest in the wagon when I saw those massive screens, no buttons, and all that gloss plastic. Awesome review though. Car makers have lost the plot totally.
I have no idea why are they doing that. Who wants to click 10 times just to do some basic thing, where before you clicked a button for it
C5,C6 A6 had one of the best tactile feeling buttons. Miss them dearly.
That's what every manufacturer does if you want buttons buy older
@@dwade3202 It looks slicker in press photos. And reviewers ooh and ahh over the tech.
The digital gauges get me. I want to watch the needle travel, not a screen jumping from number to number refreshing slowly. And got God's sake, put a volume knob for the head unit.
B9 A4 Allroads are in a pretty good spot. Physical buttons, no touch screen, and it's extremely affordable
Very good review! Thanks for doing it.
I love it and love my 2003 allroad I drive daily but the price keeps me out of any new Audi.
How the hell do u keep a 2003 allroad going. Peer cashh?
@@hesko125 I was gonna ask the same thing 🤣😂
This is a great video... great review. And you are right. The price is just brutal.
Always enjoyable and full of interest for me, Thanks
Thank you for reviewing a wagon, an unpopular choice nowadays. Please review its closest competitor, Mercedes E450 wagon. Mercedes spoiled it for MY 2021 by adding cladding and such, perhaps to compete with Audi Allroad.
Hate it or love it, Audi makes the best wagons.
15:54 That side view mirror smack is the kind of character I hit subscribe for. -VUG
That's a serious exhaust setup
So sophisticated. So elegant. So sumptuous.
I love Jack turning up the sexy. 😆
Great honest review. Thanks
had the diesel version in Europe for 5 years, best car i ever had or drove
But not this generation. This one doesn't have torsen Quattro its haldex
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this Wagon versus the BMW 640i Gran Turismo(reviewed a year ago) that you loved so much.
Please do an A4 Allroad review. It's what you're looking for in terms of price. I just bought one, it's great.
