One of the best, most groundbreaking and downright sinister debut albums in metal history, 'Melissa' has legendary status here in my homeland of Denmark. 🤘🤘🤘
It has legendary status here in the USA with me anyways. My username is based on a combination of 'Ultima Online' (which is the game I was playing back in the late 90's when I made this username for a message board) and the album 'Abigail'
Michael Denner & Hank Shermann aka René Krolmark on guitars, Timi Hansen on bass and Kim Ruzz aka Kim Thyge Jensen on drums. Into The Coven was on the PMRC Filthy 15 list. Also including Prince, Madonna, Judas Priest and others
Cool reaction. The discussion segments has improves this channel. keep going that. Greetings from South America, Argentina, watching you from Buenos Aires
SWEET. Huge Mercyful Fate fanboy. The musicianship of these guys is off the charts. I knew KDs voice would throw him off a bit, it does to everyone. KD is a true original and he sounds today as he did way back then. Loved this one. A Dangerous Meeting, Richard. Or maybe something from Abigail.
OK, you love King Diamond, Mercyful Fate...and you know that King's voice is not a love at first sight but it grows on us over time...and you support Palestine ? Wow ! I salute you brother
The whole Don’t Break The Oath album, is a masterpiece, and is very dark Metal, the dueling guitars are out of this world, it is a must to listen to the whole album, start to end.
I had exactly the same reaction as Judson when i listen King Diamond for the first time, his voice put a smile on my face, not in mocking way but just like a suprise way
A neighbor recorded me Mercyful Fate when I was in Junior High. Blew my mind, expanded my musical diversity, and guaranteed my love of metal to this day. Thank you for the video, cheers.
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars (Live at Sonic Pump Studios) or even TIME song, don't know if Richard is familiar with it, but it's really worth it! Would even recommend "Wintersun - Loneliness" to aproach a more sad song with awesome vocal performance.
So happy, this weird thing called internet made me found your channel. I guess, thanks ARPA, CERN and others for inventing this network. Great measures thanks for being great. I like the Merciful Fate cover Metallica made on Garage Inc. Edit: It is a great album and best regards to my Danish neighbors in the North, but Judson's reaction was hilarious.
Remember in the late 80's acquired this record from a friend for a bag of Doritos. I literally had to play it on my grandma's record player while she was asleep, this was beyond frightening music to people back then, especially the makeup, themes and album art. My grandma later found a King Diamond Them tape, and the whole family tried to consider getting a priest to excorsise the house...that's prime satanic panic. Was no joke back then. Instantly became a diehard, life long King Diamond fan. Funny thing is he's an extroidanarrily infamously nice guy, proud new father, a true compassionate great example of a human being. If anyone is going to have a great afterlife, it's him. He's proof that there's some terrible Holy people, and some people who have different beliefs but are FAR greater human beings than they'll ever be!!
Another great song and review it took me awhile to get into Mercyful Fate and King Diamond the guitar playing is what kept me listening Richard I think your thinking of the song Am I evil by the band Diamond Head
I love the reactions, maybe some of the 90's italian power metal ? labirynt, vision divine, rhapsody, they've a lot of classical music in there tunes, cheers from CHILE
Someone made a video of this song and it's absolute gold it's called Mercyful Fate-Into the coven interpretation. I suggest you check it out if you need a good laugh.
What a surprise, shout out to Denmark!😂🇩🇰 The idea of a stage name is kinda funny to me, but i can see why you wouldn’t wanna keep the names Kim and René while going for that heavy metal image. Don’t Look Back in Anger has never sounded better, you sure know how to pick ‘em.
When you get to Cradle of Filth; I'd like to recommend "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids". The remastered version actually. 🤘 Just to wet your appetite. It's a cover to cover type album, concept album actually about Elizabeth Bathory. Start to finish, all great and that's the song that got me into them back in the late 90's.
Great song & album! I recommend The Oath, Nightmare or Come to the Sabbath off of Don't Break The Oath. For some piano how about Valentina Lisitsa's live performance of Chopin Etude Op 25 No.11, Canteloupe Island live 1990 by Herbie Hancock/Pat Metheny/Jack DeJohnette/Dave Holland, or Jingles (James P. Johnson, 1930)?
Boot leg gives me pleasure That has no Measure 📐 ! Beautiful Piano as well Jud , I seen King Diamond 💎 in the late 70s I believe in Berkeley Ca , the Omni , I was kinda shitting my pants watching him sing 🎤 into his crucifix of bones 🦴 , but I keept telling my self , I think I like this music ! I also seen Spastic Children at the Omni back in the day , I’ll let y’all research that one for yourselves, ok slight hint , James would walk right in on the street with his girlfriend & the rest of us (Fans)I guess you could call us into the show ! Those were the days ! The King still belting it out after all of these years ! I give this song a smooth up in ya ! That’s a thumbs up 👍!
Great stuff! I would love it if you guys check out Paradise Lost. Draconian Times is a good starting point. No high vocals, torture lyrics or satanic stuff. Just good old doom and gloom! 😀
Ive not explored Mercyful Fate, so thank you for bringing it to the channel! Still waiting on Dream Theater to return to the channel! Judson should react to "Home", or "Octavarium" would be amazing too!
Apparently, the old managers girlfriend came up with the name Merciful Fate , but I don’t quite know what it means. It could even mean to be at the mercy of your fate or just to have a fate which is merciful.
Great reaction! Mercyful Fate is sacred and immortal!!! This is a Heavy Metal band with satanic lyrics and not a Black Metal band...The albums "Melissa" (1983) and "Don't Break The Oath" (1984) are masterpieces!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
Do you want to do something completely different? :) Portishead? Especially this live performance of "We Carry On" that you can find from TH-cams with a search: "Portishead - We Carry On (Live 2008 - Concert Prive) A432Hz" Please? Thank you! ^__^
I clearly remember beeing a snotty 10-12 yrs old and not liking King’s vocal style. That’s how I missed 25+ years of enjoying such a wonderful music. Do I regret?. Yes.
Metallica did a Mercyful Fate' medley, 11 minutes travelling four or five MF songs, which is glorious, because I can't stand King Diamond falsetto, I'm sorry. I love falsetto like Rob Halford but King Diamond is not for me
The Ted Nugent song was Stranglehold, not Cat Scratch Fever. 🤦♂️

Its because the riff is in the same note tonic, (A minor)

Also so unbelievably good produced for that time
@@romaneichholz7273 The production certainly suits the sinister music perfectly.. 🤘🤘
ALL HAIL THE KING!!! 🤘😈
Love seeing Judson cracking up. Great song, great choice for the channel.
Oh wow, this is going to be fun. Judson hearing the King will be priceless!
With Mercyful fate there is no mistake! Absolutelly master piece!

So true musicianship is off the charts and so is the vocals such control

@@crimsontowerfullmoon8646 Yeah I'm kinda against Genocides and Ethnic Cleansing. Don't like Ukrainian Nazis either.
But that's just me. :)
@@lawrencefine5020 ZERO evidence of your fantasy BS "genocide" and it's no wonder you would also support a genocidal mass murderor like Putin.
"Howl like a wolf..... and a witch....... will open the door!"
That brief window when Heavy Metal was still underground, creative and highly musical. Hail King Diamond!
The whole Don’t Break The Oath album, is a masterpiece, and is very dark Metal, the dueling guitars are out of this world, it is a must to listen to the whole album, start to end.
Thanks for this. Great band and as silly as his voice might sound at times King Diamond is pure legend!
👍Sending a lot of Great Measures from Costa Rica 🐸 Pura Vida guys
Keep up with this proyect you guys
Long live the KING🤟
Costa Rica is gorgeous. I was there last summer.
@@Christian-vq8rd Yeah, it has its natural beauty 🌳👍
And if you like Death Metal there's a Costa Rican band called Humanizer that's worth to check 🤟
Loved Judson's rendition of Don't Look Back In Anger, really beautiful.
Wow I was just listening to this this morning what a coincidence
I had exactly the same reaction as Judson when i listen King Diamond for the first time, his voice put a smile on my face, not in mocking way but just like a suprise way

Much appreciated!

King Diamond is such an unique gem.
Mercyful Fate is hands down my favorite band of all time. My favorite track from Melissa is Black Funeral.
ITS A BLAAAACKKK FUNNNNERALLLLLLL AHHHHHAAAAAAHHHHH
One of the best things that can happen to me as a metalhead is to share music and opinion with someone who appreciates music.

So good.✌❤
Burning the cross is my favorite MF song ;))
Thanks for the beautiful piano at the beginning. Good stuff
Awesome that you did Mercyful Fate. I really hope you check out more MF or King Diamond, would love to see "Amon Belongs to Them".
MF worshipped early MSG (Michael Schenker Group) and the intro of Into The Coven reminds me of that
the intro is a trip
Why does this draw me in so much?
King Crimson has an awesome falsetto and pretty iconic make up as well
😂

Very poorly

Took me a few to figure out why I recognised it then bingo, Metallica had a bit in a Garage Days medley.
Okay, okay... good Mercyful Fate pick. Welcome Home will always be my favorite way to introduce people to King Diamond though
I'll always pick up what you guys put down
Wonderful choice of shirt. #TREVORFOREVER
I you are going to do another one, you do Mercyfull fate - Evil. It is their best one and i think the solo is top 10 all time metal solo.
Apparently, the old managers girlfriend came up with the name Merciful Fate , but I don’t quite know what it means. It could even mean to be at the mercy of your fate or just to have a fate which is merciful.
Absolutely nobody seems to know who Mercyful Fate is! I'm in.
Judson: 😳>☺️>😆>🤣
Let's go
🤟
I can only do so much king diamond but never enough mercyful fate
Can't believe you guys didn't do Melissa the title track. Talk about a musical journey.
Grew up listening to king diamond and fate. Very few vocals can compare. For power and range lately I’ve been on a Daniel Heimen kick.
Mmmmmm i grew up with that and started playing guitar obviously!!!!
King rules!
This is the funniest video yet xD.
Here for the falsetto
Great reaction! Mercyful Fate is sacred and immortal!!! This is a Heavy Metal band with satanic lyrics and not a Black Metal band...The albums "Melissa" (1983) and "Don't Break The Oath" (1984) are masterpieces!!! Greetings from Brazil!!!
My mom put a bible in my bedroom with rosary beads!😂 This was a blast from the past!
15:05 HA HA
haha i dont get why i like this channel so much
Merciful fate will grow in you like a fungus
Do some King Diamond too!!!
- Sleepless Nights, for example
You should definitely do King Diamond next, it's lest satanic but darker imho
MF rules.
I think that he would like Angra
Please do Zeal & Ardor!
Awesome Music - clearly influenced Metallicas early songs - they actually did Training sessions together…love it…🙌💪
Request: Ihsahn, Pilgrimage to Oblivion, orchestral version and studio version.
Do you want to do something completely different? :)
Portishead?
Especially this live performance of "We Carry On" that you can find from TH-cams with a search: "Portishead - We Carry On (Live 2008 - Concert Prive) A432Hz"
Please?
Thank you! ^__^
I think Judson is thinking of Stranglehold by Ted Nugent and not Cat Scratch Fever.
I like the odd "funkiness" of it.
do king diamond. conspiracy or the eye album
Show him the Metallica cover/mix.
Mellisa is the missing link between late 70s rock and early - mid 80s metal.
One of the best Gothic metal albums ever made the king is a little pitchy on this great musicians these guys probably shit when they heard this W T F
I clearly remember beeing a snotty 10-12 yrs old and not liking King’s vocal style. That’s how I missed 25+ years of enjoying such a wonderful music. Do I regret?. Yes.
LET ME HELP YOU OUTTA YOUR CHAIR
GRANDMAAAAA!
(you know i don't like talking about dark forces, randall)
Reacts to King diamond the possession live in filmore please
Lars did drums on their song return of the vampire
King Diamond is the new trending ??? I lost something,
the oath would have been a better choice
Oh how I miss Z-Rock!
I love this band so much, and i mostly listen to non metal.
Merciful Fate is Metallica's longest studio recorded song!
you came for 6:08
React to some Yngwie Malmsteen!!!
The way the pianist looks at the other guy is disturbing. So much sexual tension
just pls admit it - they are the most progressive bands in metal music like... ever ;)
Metallica cover would be great
Metallica did a Mercyful Fate' medley, 11 minutes travelling four or five MF songs, which is glorious, because I can't stand King Diamond falsetto, I'm sorry. I love falsetto like Rob Halford but King Diamond is not for me
