King Diamond is the best and is one of my all time favs .... he gets better and better! I have seen him and Merciful Fate 6 times and was never disappointed! He has had some amazing musicians with him and the backing vocals is icing on the cake. Great reaction vid too Beth. Thank you!
I first saw King in a Metal Magazine I purchased back in the day. Oddly, I thought him to be called King Demon, scurrying passed his picture of him on stage with cross bones microphone stand. Unbeknownst to me, I no clue the guy in my magazine was in fact the guy I was hearing for the first time on a radio show I loved call Metal Shop with The Butcher Charley K. As the song Abigail played I found myself loss for words at what I was hearing. I instantly LOVED it, with no getting use to the vocals or letting the song grow on me, I was instantly a fan. I still did not put 2 & 2 together till the night Metal Shop had King on for a long interview & album promotion for this masterpiece called "Them" After sitting through this interview hearing the ghost stories, & of course getting my first real spooked out feeling of what I was hearing from "Them" as you hear, Lhhhoook, the old bitch is back. I being a horror fan & a fairly new fan of Metal, the two horror & Metal was a perfect mix, & who better to do it? I was spooked excited, & in just over all awww at what I heard, plus the realization it was the same guy who sang Abigail & who was in my Metal Magazine NOT named King Demon, but seems like it would have made more sense actually. A instant fan I was & he just about dethroned my favorite Metal band at the time Iron Maiden, & you had to be DAMN SPECIAL to pull that off. I begged, cried, said I would do this chore, that chore if you buy me this tape. A few weeks after the release of the absolutely FANTASTIC Masterpiece "Them" I heard my Mother say " It is time for Tea" ok that is a LIE (See what I did there)? Reference to the note inside Conspiracy! My Mother actually said " Heyyy come here" & walk down the hall, I see her hand sticking out of the bathroom with a cassette. I see the Front cover & I do believe I got a bit misty eyed. You would have thought someone handed The real Excalibur. That is my journey into King, & have literally been a fan of EVERYTHING he put out & I mean everything except the song he did for Probot, but hey 1 out of 10000 is not a bad run, would you say?
I haven't had the chance to meet him myself, but I've always heard he's the friendliest and coolest guy you'd ever want to meet. Alot like Dio. One of my favorite things in life is the picture of him with Michael Sweet. While I'm not a fan of Stryper and don't agree eith him mich (and I'm not a subscriber to Kings philosophy either) I love that it shows the maturity and honesty it shows in them both.
@@LordLanthros1 I was also very fortunate to have met and gotten to know Ronnie James Dio as well. only one band seems to follow in his steps, and they are doing a good job though they arent at hislevel yet. Attic! been a fan of the king since 2003 where i by chance stumpled upon a album of his as a early teen.
I have seen King twice, but did not get to meet him. However, the second time I saw him was on my Birthday in New Orleans 11/15/15. I was almost front row for that show, which was one of the BEST live shows I ever heard & saw. After the show my sis looks down, bends over, when she comes up she says " Happy birthday bro" & handed me Andy's black Guitar pick . As blown away as I was that did not compare to what was about to take place. Andy is my all time favorite guitarist so his Plectrum was a big deal to me, but after standing around outside I see the drummer. I walk up Matt & talk for a bit, such a polite, down to earth guy. Totally friendly with no rock star attitude. Got pictures & was walking to the car with my sis when OMG Andy & Mike come walking right by, but moved fast like do not even approach me. Sad I felt but understood, it is cold & plus they probably tired. I said well nonetheless, great show it was & I got his Plectrum. We get in the car & as we go to leave my friend & my sis say Dude you may never get another chance, & it is your Birthday, there is the bus they got on, go try to meet them. I thought about till I pumped myself up the nerve to do it. I walk up to their I believe tour manager or bus driver which sadly passed away. I says, it is my birthday and Andy is my all time favorite guitarist, & I absolutely love Mike Wead guitar playing. He says, sorry but they are not meeting anyone. I am not sure if the look in my eyes touched his heart, or he wanted pull a fast one on the guys to freeze their ass off, but he says "Hold on,wait here" He cones back around says & says " if you make it fast, they will meet you" LOOK, I have met A lot of my favorites, a bit nervous here & there I was, but this time I was FULL BLOWN STAR STRUCK When Andy & Mike stepped off of that bus my knees got weak & I barely could talk. Last, Mike turns around & says this to me with that accent just ah flaring, I say respectfully, sounds cool actually, " This is MY LAST GUITAR PICK I HAVE ON ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY" & hands me that white Pick. Love how knowledgeable and open-minded you are about all kinds of music! Found you through the Enya Orinoco Flow video and then saw that you have videos on King Diamond as well - who I love also! He must have the techniques right since he has been doing that for years and years. For the Christmas time, he has also "No Presents For Christmas". ;)
I’ve loved this song for years, after chancing upon it in an online search for Halloween tunes. The King’s voice and range is really something. He deserves a hallowed place in metal. An online choir from around the world is a great idea. Happy Halloween. 🎃💀🎤💀🎃

A facilidade com que o King Diamond canta é impressionante. Ao vivo, ele e o Halford são os melhores vocalistas do mundo de qualquer estilo, os que mais alcançam notas altas, fato.
I'm not even done watching this yet but I'm Liking it. You are hilarious and fun, and very open minded when dealing this material! Cheers! This is one of my favourite Hallowe'en songs. Thanks for treating it respectfully. 🙂
Love this song. Had to transcribe it years ago to audition a singer. Glad you had so much fun making this video! Would love to see a collaboration with The Charismatic Voice-but would the geekery be too much for TH-cam to handle?
In the early 80s King used to sing some stuff in high chest voice. That's a range that I loved him singing in, since to my ears he sounded his most haunting and melancholic there. It didn't sound very easy for him though (take for example the intro to Come to the Sabbath), and it seems like he really separates his registers. Nowadays it seems he mostly has his head voice and his growl voice, he has probably given up on the tenor chest voice.
That is Livia Zita. She is Kings wife and the mother of his child. She's also a voice actress, though I'm not sure of what she's dine off the top of my head right now.
Please do Un peu plus haut un peu plus loin - Celine Dion and Ginette Reno. Best live and emotional performance i have ever seen, its a gem, you have to see that.

Unholy crap, watching you react to what I consider metal royalty is surreal. I've been a huge fan of King's since the 80s. I got to see him in Oakland in 1991. When they played the Mercyful Fate songs I about lost my mind. I never screamed and sang more at a concert than I did at that one. My favorite thing about watching you react to this is when you said "This is so King" much respect.

King Diamond is extremely original though he does have a cool Alice Cooper vibe on the lower range you need to check out Nils k Rue from Pagans mind and Michael Ericksson from Circus Maximus
i love your videos! pls can you react to Chitãozinho & Xororó - Se Deus me ouvisse (Sinfônico 40 Anos) [Part. Especial Sandy & Junior] next? that's a live album by the Brazilian duo Chitãozinho & Xororó, The album is part of the celebration of the duo's 40th anniversary career, this song specifically is featured by sandy and junior (they are children of Xororó, a singer that you have reacted before)
Apparently King Diamond is one of the rare few who can use two vocal chords at the same time. I'm a music layman so I have no idea but I've seen this quoted passage associated with his apparent abilities: "There is a vocal technique used by Tibetan monks which allows them to literally sing a chord, or three notes simultaneously. This technique is not considered appropriate for most styles of western popular music, and therefore is somewhat of a mystery to many in the west. The technique when properly done has a pronounced droning which sounds similar to a digital audio effect. The technique may take years to master, but can be mimicked by producing a low sound from the back of the throat, and then shaping the tongue against the roof of the mouth as if sounding out the letter R. Adjust the shape of the mouth slightly until you hear harmonic overtones which are two octaves higher than the note being sung."
Hey! You are right, he is using his false vocal folds and his true vocal folds. However a lot of metal singers do this too. You are right about Tibetan throat singing! :)
For nearly 30 years I cant stand the voice Of KD. I tried it a hundred times. Then one day a few years ago I heard a KD song in a random playlist. And suddenly it clicked in my head. I listened to KD und Mercyful Fate all day and bought all the Rereleases of the albums the same day. Sometimes it took some times to get into a singer with a special voice/style. BTW. I have a friend who had the same phenomenom with Jon Oliva. ;-)

BTW. I have a friend who had the same phenomenom with Jon Oliva. ;-)
