They said that if you remove the cover with the chain brake forward, you have to take the saw to a dealer. Thankfully, I found your video. Thanks a lot!

I misread the directions, thinking I needed to have the brake engaged instead of disengaged. I saw another video that said a dealer would have to fix it, but you solved my problem in 2 minutes.

I was afraid I might break it. This solution came to mind, but that was when I went looking for help, which confirmed my understanding. 2 minutes later I was back in business!

Thank you for posting this! I had to go as far as taking off the chain brake handle so that I could get a firm grip on the chain break propeller but it worked!

Thanks for this. I've disassembled my saws dozens and dozens of times and managed to constrict the band before doing so for the first time last night. I suspected I activated the brake, and should have realized it when the cover was very difficult to get off. Appreciate the fix ideas.
Found this a little to late. Watched other info first, if I ever find my spring will do this because after watching remembered have used this method before and it worked.
Thanks! I don't know why Husky has some quirky engineering in their saws, I ran into some weird disassembly procedures trying to work on the carb on my 455e as well.

Great tip! Ultimately, we had to remove the bar and chain before we were able to engage the fins of the safety handle. It worked!
