Japan's problem is that they have no incentive to have kids. Women want independence and for the most part are expected to quit their jobs if they have a baby, and men want traditional house wives. Also, most people are overworked - creating the want / need for escapism into hobbies (eg. Anime, music, idols). People get obsessed with their hobbies and lose desire for real relationships. They need to make births cheaper (Australia even paid people to have babies), make child care easier for mum to get ( you pretty much need a job before having a baby to get child care. It's hard to have a baby then find a job) and have stricter rules about over working.
Accessible (and quality) child care and encouraging employers to grant part time are probably the most efficient incentives. And a paid parental leave that is worth its name. Next step: make it normal that the father also works part time.
The best! I mean the Japan population bit that sequed into the "Weather Report". That was a terrific bit of acting between Desi and Trevor. The reasons Why Japan is going through this is because its a number of things. What is there exploitative work culture where you find married men working more than 40 hours a week. Another reason is some schools in Japan don’t really encourage or sometimes prohibit their students from having romantic relationships.
I live in Japan and their social safety net is a joke. They don't provide enough funding for families like social services for single parents, etc. Plus the younger generation of the Japanese labor force are working two or three low paying temp jobs just to make ends meet and salaries aren't keeping up with inflation. If you can't save money for the future like buying a house, why bother getting married and starting a family if you can't afford it.

Japan's problem is that they have no incentive to have kids. Women want independence and for the most part are expected to quit their jobs if they have a baby, and men want traditional house wives. Also, most people are overworked - creating the want / need for escapism into hobbies (eg. Anime, music, idols). People get obsessed with their hobbies and lose desire for real relationships.
They need to make births cheaper (Australia even paid people to have babies), make child care easier for mum to get ( you pretty much need a job before having a baby to get child care. It's hard to have a baby then find a job) and have stricter rules about over working.

The reasons Why Japan is going through this is because its a number of things.
What is there exploitative work culture where you find married men working more than 40 hours a week.
Another reason is some schools in Japan don’t really encourage or sometimes prohibit their students from having romantic relationships.
I live in Japan and their social safety net is a joke. They don't provide enough funding for families like social services for single parents, etc. Plus the younger generation of the Japanese labor force are working two or three low paying temp jobs just to make ends meet and salaries aren't keeping up with inflation. If you can't save money for the future like buying a house, why bother getting married and starting a family if you can't afford it.
